We are from a nearby town and have driven past this place hundreds of times over the years.
We decided to do a local “staycation” and chose the Brew House as our home away from home for a couple days.

The room we stayed in overlooks the river and has a stunning view. The bed was comfy and the room is spacious. You are above a bar so can hear some music early in the evening but it didn’t go on too long. The bathroom needs some updating but all in all, it was a pleasant stay and we’re happy we chose this place.

We only had one meal while there, but wow, we will be back.
We didn’t have high expectations as we were assuming standard pub-grub.
All the standard pub type foods are available but everything we tried is fantastic. We both had some pasta dishes and ended up having lunch the next day as the servings were so large. We had started with Nachos and commented we both felt they were the best we had had in years.

This place is close enough to where we live that we will be making the drive back again.

Do yourself a favour and check it out.

Great Ol' spot with good selection of beer and decent food. Fantastic atmosphere and great service. Only issue is that there is no parking around, so you'll need to park across the street and walk over.

My boyfriend and I decided to book a room at the Brew House as we were visiting Fergus for the day. It was out first B&B experience. The welcoming and warm staff and their food are outstanding.

The room we stayed in was super specious and clean. Nothing fancy but the owners made sure there was a touch of luxury. Nice linens, towels and beautiful bed.
However the mattress itself could've been a little more comfortable. It's a 145$ a night.

The breakfast was simple: jams, bread, cereal, milk and coffee that you prepare in your own room
I believe the confort wih the matress are the only things we hope and wish they improve. They should include more breads, and fruits and a nicer cozier mattress.

We arrived mid week, the staff were very friendly and helpful. That’s were it ended. Once we were in our room we explored. The bathroom, the shower rail was taped on with scotch tape and the claw bath tub (I was so excited to take a bath in) was disgusting and stained. Towels were clean. The four poster bed frame was extremely wobbly, the bedding was old fashioned and made out of some type of velvet, but clean. The drawers were missing handles that were kept inside the drawers. The ceiling was peeling and crumbly. The air conditioner was duct-taped into the window! Cold breakfast was included. 2 fun size boxes of cereal that were in a basket kept on the floor. The mini fridge had a bunch of grapes (top layer were rotten) an apple an orange, 2 yoghurts (3 days out of date) and a carton of milk. We decided to make a coffee before we went out for dinner. When we opened the coffee machine the filter had not been changed in a long, long time and was growing its very own planet!!! Mould galore. At this stage we decided to go out for a very, very early dinner with the intent to return after so much liquid refreshment that we would not care where we were sleeping. We returned for the night thinking we could sleep the night away, the noise from passing traffic was horrendous but not as loud as the noise from the pub below. The noise, very loud drunken singing, did not stop until 3am. We woke at 7am, packed our things and left.

Was enjoying a girls day with my sister and choose this restaurant for lunch. Service was horrible from the beginning. The first waitress dropped menus at our table - and I mean dropped on all sense of the word. Didn't tell us the special, just dropped, took our drink orders and walked away. Lunch came and looked/smelled delicious. Our waitress never came back to ask about our meal, never brought refills either. When we were fishes our meals, the waitress was sitting at the bar, drinking coffee. Looked at us twice and saw our plates were empty and our napkins were on our plates, but never got up. I finally got up and started to put my jacket on and had to ask for my bill!! NEVER will I go to this restaurant again. The food was pretty good, but I will not pay for lunch and get service this bad!!!

Dear Trimbit, I am so sorry to learn that you did not receive the attention you deserved while at the pub. Your honesty is appreciated as I cannot be on site at all times. We pride ourselves on looking after all of our guests and ensuring they have a great experience. If you could let me know what day you were at the pub, I will address the issue with the server immediately. I can be reached at fun@BrewHouseOnTHeGrand.ca I am glad you enjoyed the food and I would like to address the server concerns so that you might come back and give us another try. SIncerely, Katherine

My husband and I stayed at this B&B with another couple and although the rooms were very nice, our stay there was not. We understood that staying over a pub could produce noise and we were fine with that. The bar fight was not in their control and after it got broken up, we didn't hear another peep from downstairs, until 3 in the morning when there was something beeping in the hallway.
The Riverview Room had a very comfortable bed and a nice view of the river. The MacHaven Room had a beautiful yet very wobbly four-poster bed. Our friends were pretty sure they were sleeping on a box spring, not a mattress.
My husband and I were excited about using the large bathtub with jets after a walk in the cold weather but there was absolutely no hot water. As it's an old building we let it run for at least 10 minutes to warm up, but no such luck. Our friends also had no hot water and only a drip coming from their taps.
The next morning when we went to eat the 2 pieces of fruit they had left us for 'continental' breakfast, we were annoyed to find our apples bruised and brown and the milk expired. So we couldn't eat the cereal they left us or the fruit. When we handed in the keys and told the lady about no hot water, all we got was a 'Oh, I'm sorry'.
We will never stay at this place again, nor visit the pub. Truly a disappointment in such a quaint town.

A great place to go for a meal with either friends or family. The menu is varied but love their half price deals. Monday is Nachos, Tuesday wings and Wednesday Tacos. Every day has something special. I met five women for lunch three ordering wings, one Bruschetta, one soup and Caesar salad and lastly pulled pork. All really enjoyed their food. It came quickly and warm even though the restaurant was busy. There was lots of meat on the wings and my honey garlic wings were one of the best I have ever had. The soup was Cheddar Ale which they are known for.Delicious! There was a variety of bottled beer, draught plus Cider and wines. To receive a half price deal you need to order a beverage but does not have to be liquor but anything else such as coffee. Also they support the local breweries through some of their choices on the menu.
Our waiter was very efficient and helpful. All said they would definitely return to a place that has a great atmosphere and delightful food.
Should mention that there is an outside area to sit. Could not use it in October but a beautiful place during the summer months.

The brew house is a gem in the town of Fergus, where restaurants are plentiful but few with the ambiance of the Brew House. However, for the second time in a row, the server on the patio has been less than helpful and turn people away without any encouragement of waiting for a table, not once but this was the second time for us. I could see there were tables finished but she would not help us out by suggesting a short wait or having a drink at the bar and her attitude is brutal. Luckily the owner was outside and overheard us speaking about the lack of interest in serving us and went out of his way to ensure we were taken care of. One server should not ruin a restaurant's reputation and fortunately, we were served by an inside server and the evening was a complete success, thanks Lauren, you were wonderful! - great food, service, owners and ambiance - highly recommend it, don't be dissuaded by patio server, it gets better!

My parents surprised me and my husband with a 25 Wedding Anniversary party at the Brew House. I was fantastic! The food was great! The manager was wonderful and so helpful. It was a big group and everyone left saying it was great and they would definitely go back. Thank you for making our Anniversary so special!

We stayed here, in the river-view room, for two nights (less than $110.00 per night). It's a charming place in a great location with good food, a nice selection of wines and beers and friendly service.

Breakfast is at a nearby restaurant, a one mine walk.

Food is "pub grub" with a bit of flair.

Fergus is a nice, central place to visit the whole region and the B rew House on the Grand is a good choice for a base.
