T. George Hoffman wrote a review Apr 2020
Saint Paul, Minnesota
My wife and I stayed two weeks in the superb little hotel on a hill overlooking the beach. Every day we ate a gourmet breakfast at the very large table where other guests eat. The owner is a lovely French lady named Anne so there were many French & French Canadian guests, however, there were also Mexicans, Spaniards, Germans, and Americans.
We were impressed by how easy it was to get to know others at breakfast or lunch & we made some friends that we hope to see again.
The service was really great & whenever we had a problem Eduardo, Clarisa or Aldo always solved it.
Getting to the beach is a bit of a hike down & up a steep hill. We like to walk for exercise, but if you don't like to walk or have a disability, then you would probably prefer someplace else.

Dear Jorge, Thank you for such a detailed review. We really appreciate it. Great to know you are the kind of person who likes to walk a little. Oaxaca has a lot of rocky mountains and thanks to that we have many bays segmented naturally, also giving us the superb view you accurately mention. Our willing staff is always ready to take care of you in the best way we can, so we were glad to be useful when needed. We also want to look after every one of our guests (old friends or newcomers) by improving most of our procedures, accommodating everything to make you feel comfortable while staying healthy. We hope you are safe and healthy in company of your beloved ones. In the remote case you're passing through a hard time, we will always have this precious memories we share to remind you all the good stuff that you have created, tasted and done with us, as much as we like to remember you. Big hugs from our sunny place.

Ann, Eduardo, Clarissa, Aldo and the rest of the staff made us truly feel at home. A quiet, gated, cliffside property overlooking the beaches and ocean on the border of Mazunte and San Agustinillo. It was a truly relaxing experience thanks to the sound of the waves crashing, the views of the infinity pool with the Pacific Ocean in the background and the above & beyond concierge service thanks to the staff. We did not have to worry about a THING when it came to restaurant recommendations, beaches to visit, massages to book and Covid-19 tests to take. We felt so safe, secure and comfortable, I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet place to relax and reset. The terrace from our room (with lounge chairs and a hammock) had some spectacular views of the coast/ocean and the staff did an amazing job of thoroughly cleaning every inch of the room (which has AC in case the humidity is too much to bear). There are breakfast and lunch menus with some great food to enjoy down by the pool or up in your room (our personal favorites were the chilaquiles with green sauce, Mexican style eggs, the spicy guacamole and the tasty Micheladas). A million times THANK YOU to every single one of the staff for making our stay feel so special.

Apart from being an amazing spot to dream and rest it now has the most thorough cleaning protocol, one that makes you feel extremely safe -which for me is highly important in these times.
In addition to that, attention to detail, service, scrumptious food and the place itself is just fantastic. I've had the privilege to visit a few times and I always love to be back to this lovely piece of paradise. Anne and her team are the absolute best.
Highly recommended!

It's hard to write a review for Casa Pan de Miel as we would like to keep it a secret. It is a gem. You cannot beat the location high on a clifftop overlooking the beach and Pacific ocean. This was not our first visit. We have visited a number of times. Anne and her staff (Aldo, Clarissa and Tania) are very welcoming and do their utmost to make sure we are well taken care of. During our stay we were invited to join a birthday celebration and were treated to Oaxacan molle. This is a place where we feel at home. Gracias to all the accommodating staff.

I enjoyed my stay at Casa Pan de Miel, particularly because of the staff. The staff is of a caliber of any top notch hotel but also warm, providing a very homey environment rather than stuffy.
The breakfast was delicious, and included homemade jams and breads. Food and drinks are extra but VERY reasonably priced.
The view is incredible as the hotel sits on a corner of the peninsula. It is up high, so it is that type of view as opposed to one up close and personal to the beach/ocean. It is situated between Mazunte and San Augustinillo. Both are about a 15-20 minute walk to the central area. There are steps leading down to Augustinillo beach, which is a lovely beach. I think there are probably around 200 steps.
Wifi is available in the pool/dining area, not in the rooms (although I believe they said they could provide a router if necessary. Room terrace was quite large with a hammock and reclining chair, along with a fan and mini fridge.
Hot water and pressure were good. Bed was acceptably comfortable. There were quite a few large-sized ants in the room and I killed a baby scorpion on my first evening. Rooms are a little weathered, but spacious and comfortable.

We planned to stay here for 2 nights, but felt so at home after a few hours, that we booked another 3. Our room was large and bright, with a great verandah for enjoying a private view of the sea and wildlife (birds, whales if you’re lucky.) The dining area and pool are great for chilling out any time of day or evening, with helpful, friendly staff on hand to serve drinks or meals, if required, or to help out with anything you need. Again, great sea views.

Would definitely recommend this treat of a place, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Mazunte, but still very accessible.

This was our third year staying at Casa Pan de Miel, and it was fabulous! The level of hospitality they provide is only matched by the breathtaking views. Nestled on a hilltop between the villages of Mazunte and San Agustinillo, you are a short walk down the hill to town or the beautiful beaches. Many times we were content to simply bask in a lounger by the beautiful infinity edged pool and swim there. Always glorious breezes even days when the beach was very hot. (We loved their frozen margaritas and pina coladas served poolside!) They also offer delicious breakfasts and lunches on the terrace dining room and poolside patio. The rooms are quite lovely, with air conditioning and hot showers (kind of rare in this area) and the views from our private balcony were also gorgeous. Each of the nine rooms are different with different views. We enjoyed massages (individual or couples are available) provided by two talented local senoras out on the private open terrace overlooking the sea. Heavenly!! The staff and owner are SO warm and friendly, and went out of their way to make our visit extraordinary. We can’t wait to return again next year.

Greetings from Danique (NL) and Julia (FR)

Our stay was amazing, the view is stunning and this place is a truly little peaceful paradise. We recharged and enjoy the swimming pool view and the private access to head to the beach 2min down the hotel. More important than all of this is the owner Anne, she is such a good human and welcomed us with a lot of kindness. Beautiful place, amazing vibes. Can only recommend

Incredible place! We stayed in Casa pan de Miel for 10 days and it was an outstanding experience.
First of all I want to thank Anne and Aldo for being wonderful hosts, and running the hotel with such great attention to details.
The breakfast is very tasty with a variety of homemade food such as banana bread, different marmalades, granola etc.
The view is breathtaking, and on top of that youre just a few steps away from basically a private beach.
You’re a walking distance from San Augustinillo, the Mazunte beaches, but without all the noise and hustle.
Another big pro! Is the wifi which can be a problem in mazunte area, but worked amazingly in the hotel and I was able to work and go on zoom calls etc..
The staff is super friendly, always made us feel like home, and just made our stay even better.
Thank you everyone in Casa pan de miel for having us, and giving us such a great experience.
Hope to be back soon,
Lots of love!
Shelly de Israel 😉
