We didn’t know what to expect when we booked this place. We booked it some what last minute and all for the cost. But from arrival we were very impressed with it. We have the twin room which is very small but also very cute. The beds are really comfy. Everything is well maintained and clean. The one draw back is since it is right on banffs main road it is very load. Time to buy ear plugs for the rest of the stay. It is a place I would stay again though.

My wife and I stayed here and thinking the a hotel in the middle of Down Town Banff couldn't be all that bad but it was a bit disappointing. I am not picky at all. I don't care that there is no lobby and only a small front desk to check I and out of. I don't care that the rooms themselves are really small. I don't plan on spending time in my room doing much more than sleeping anyway. As my wife and I always do we check for bed bugs before we do anything. We didn't find any but did find it interesting the between the mattresses on both beds there were bug traps. We had a room with 2 twin beds. Super small but ok if you are a couple buddies travelling and just need a place to sleep between ski days. 1 bed was firm and the other one you could only say was worn out beyond its normal life cycle should be. You could just look at it and tell it was done as there was a large visible slope to the middle of the bed. The bathroom was good enough, out of date but clean. The fridge, coffee maker and TV all worked so no complaints there. As you can read on others posts this hotel is not very sound proof. You can hear everything happening in the rooms around you. Everything ! Again not anything that I can not handle.
The issue that brought my rating down to a poor was the fact that I had the worst sleep I have ever had in a hotel ever. Since the 1 little bed was worn out so bad I ended up sleeping on the other little bed with my wife. I can tell you it is way to small for 2 people to sleep on together. It was also warm in our room ( 26C ) all night with no help by lowering the temperature of the thermostat. I opened the window to cool down the room but since this hotel is in the best location in Banff it is also the busiest and with people all having a good time out on the streets below till late into the night it was loud. After the room cooled down I was up again to close the window. after a little while the room was hot again so I opened the window again. As you can see with this going on I was up all night just trying to get comfortable. You would think that being in this location that they could really make this place a great hotel but looks like they are just doing the minimum. It cost just over a hundred dollars for the night an I recommend that if you can handle what I have written then this is the place for you but if you want a bit more comfort spend the extra money and go to one of the many other hotels available in Banff. I know I will as I won’t be returning to this hotel again.

Room Tip: There is a nice hotel across the street that is much more comfortable for around the same amount.

We stayed two nights in the King Edward Hotel, in Banff, Alberta. The service was decent. Overall the hotel was pretty dingy. The floor was more comfortable than the bed, there was what looked to be blood on the top blanket, no fitted sheet on the bed so it kept sliding off. My next visit to Banff I'll spend a few more dollars to sleep in a clean comfy bed. Also don't exchange your money their. Take it down the street, it's way cheaper.

Disappointed to say the least. I read the reviews and thought for 250 bucks it should be okay.. the seals around the windows in the room had paint splitting and peeling, could not open one. Curtains were missing a sheer, no air conditioner which was annoying when couldn’t open the window. Biggest issue NOISE- we were on the second floor and constantly throughout the night it sounded like they were moving furniture, dropping items on the floor, walking heavily and banging doors. Called to complain to find out that the front desk is not employed during the night. Not good.

Next time I will spend the extra money to stay in hotels here we have stayed at previously. Trying to save a buck was not worth it. Horrible. One would think that during COVID shut down early on the owners may have taken the time to fix or repair rooms especially to welcome back clients. I wasn’t expecting a 3 star but I at least expected something more for 250 bucks a night for four people in one room at 2.5 star rating.

Will not recommend to anyone.

Perfect price and quality option in Banff. Probably best deal you can get for a 70 dollar price. Up to date commodities and nice interior design, historic building that’s what makes this hotel special. Good service, nothing extraordinary though, and prime downtown location. Four stars for price and quality value, best optimal choice in town.

Normally, hotels pre-authorize my credit card & then charge me at the end of my stay, but not this hotel - they charge you upfront. Why? Well, the first thing I noticed when I walked into this hotel were bed bug traps at the foot of bed. For $500/night there better NOT be any trace of bed bugs, or the possibility of it. I immediately asked for a refund, but the answer was "no" - that's why they charge you up front. Long story short, they claimed that ALL hotels in Banff have bed bugs (not just theirs), so save your money and stay elsewhere. The receptionist was extremely nice though! She definitely brought some life to the place.

The lobby is closet size and barely noticeable. The elevator up to the second floor smells bad, is dirty, and slow. The halls are dark and the picture frames need a good dusting - the pictures are of the hotel in its glory days. The room needed an update, it was dark, and had a damp smell. To access parking, I had to walk around the block or down a lane way that smelled like urine. But it was in the downtown core, so that was nice.

I went down the street to another hotel that cost significantly less, and was much more modern and clean.

TIP: I found out you can view the room BEFORE you pay, so if you insist on staying at this hotel, ask to check the room for bedbugs and bedbug traps before you hand over your credit card.

The moment I walked in to the hotel I was disgusted. The lobby is non-existent. To go up, you MUST use the elevator and you have to have a room key to operate it. The elevator has broken floor tiles and dirty glass. Not to mention there is no parking near the hotel and you have to try to get parking in the one spot of loading tomtake your luggag/gear outof your car. There are no tollies to assist with bringing your luggage up either so if ou have lots of stuff it means multiple trips to your room. Parking is $5.00 in covered parking that is not conected to the hotel and spaces are limited. The hallways were disgusting as well. They look dirty and unvacuumed. We stayed Feb 18-22, 2012. I had read reviews about bed bugs that morning so I knew I would do a complete check. The room was awful. The carpet was old and dirty and was actually missing pieces. I moved the bed to check for bed bugs between the mattresses and by the baseboards and did not see anything. Thankfully we did not get any bed bug bites either during our stay. We were on the second floor. The bed was propped up with an ice bucket though! Also under the bed and behind it was disgusting and must not have been cleaned or many months. The headboard was also broken. I was happy to find there was a mini fridge in our room. The curtains were very dusty as well and did not look clean. The bathroom was somewhat decent as it has relatively new flooring. There is no noise control in the hotel at all. You can hear every footstep in the halls. We were there over the weekend. There was partying going on in the hotel all weekend especially before and after the bar as I am guessing that's where people went when it got a little more quiet between 11pm and 2am. At 2am the partying was back on. I called the front desk at 10 pm and they did speak to some guests but as soon as the agent was back downstairs the noise started again. They were not enforcing noise control at all after 2am because there is no one on the front desk after 10:30pm! This was the scenario for our first two nights. The third night was a bit better but as soon as people get up in the AM you are up too! The last night in the room above us the couple was fighting with each other making loud banging and screaming and swearing. I guess this is what we get for trying to vacation on a budget. We tried to inform the front desk of our issues when we checked out again but the agent did not seem to speak or understand English as she had no response other than a smile and have a nice day. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone except rowdy 18 year olds. Even though the price was about $90 a night I wold never sta here again. I would like t sleep at night and not worry about the bugs!

You might be tempted just because it's in the middle of town, or because you can't get anything else. Dooooon't do it! Sleep in your car, in a rest area, in a tent, in the city park. Don't stay here. I warned you.

First off..... I will say the reception staff was beyond accommodating. When we got to our room on the 2nd floor, we could see it was going to be a challenge. The room opened out to a roof and we had visions of intruders, so we asked for a street side. Big Mistake!!!! They gave us a room sized between a closet and a medicine cabinet. It's all this place has... Old hotel rooms parading as a lodge. But I digress, the poor reception people we encountered had to be beyond embarrassed.

I can hardly say anything positive... The noise was incredible, for two solid nights. The bathroom sink flow control was plumbed in backwards- hot is cold and cold is hot. Nearly scalded myself the first time I washed my hands. The wifi reminded me of the old dial-up. Broke off when it wanted to, slow, slow, slow. Finally captured an open source from someplace else and managed to get what I needed to get done done. Oh, and the tv. Controller didn't work after the 4th exchange..... Finally the receptionist had to call Toshiba to get help, and even then it didn't work properly.

The receptionist did call us a cab on our departure morning, which was the kindest gesture he could have done.

All this for a measley 380 per night CA. OKAY, NOW YOU KNOW...DOOOOOOOOOON'T do it!

Yuck! The carpets were gross, the comforter was disgusting! Stains all over it, I had to call for a new one. Every room was partying and it sounded like they were in my room, I could hear neighbors having a shower. There was no fans in the bathroom or the room to drone out sound. Not to mention, the view out my window was a parkade! I was a really bad stay. I may not be complaining if the price was half the actual cost.....then it would be worth it. When checking out we were asked how our stay was, I said 'horrible'! He did not even respond!.......oooookay. Never again. I wish I could get my money back.

Had no choice of places to stay and this one was reasonable. That is the only pro! It is old, dirty and run down. The room was small and warn out. The view was of the roof top and a lovely cigarette filled beer can. The bed was hard and had springs sticking out!!The room was 26 degrees and the thermostat didn't work. The first impression is a "lobby" that is 5 feet by 5 feet in a glass enclosure. Stains on the carpet, mildew in the bathroom. You have your choice of plugging in the tv, safe or coffee make, but only 2 at a time!!! The elevator is dirty and has broken tile (it is street facing and could be beautiful). The parking is a joke, and scary to get into. This place needs a complete overhaul as the location is mint. Right downtown Banff!!!

Yes but didn't work very good. The room is so small it gets hot very quick so you have to open these relic windows....don't stay here go to inns of banff...

There is no parking specific to the hotel. There is a parkade just behind the hotel that is used. You could also use any of the numerous parking lots that are available. There are different parking times that are available for no charge.
