Mvuvi Resort is an elite boutique hotel on the east coast of Zanzibar. It is located on the white beach of Kiwengwa, overlooking the Indian Ocean; from there you can admire the crystal and clear waters of the reef. It can be defined as an intimate location, genuine and elegant at the same time, in a state of perfect harmony with the Swahili culture and traditions. A place where you can sunbathing on a peaceful private beach enjoying the real beauty of the nature or doing sports. There is something to suit all tastes, such as kite surfing, diving, and many others. It is also the ideal starting point for different kinds of excursions to Zanzibar or exciting safari in Tanzania. The building consists of six large rooms with all amenities and comfort, it is specializes in a highlevel hospitality. It represents the ideal destination for young couples (for instance, on their honeymoon), but for families with children and groups of friends also. Mvuvi Resort is not the typical mass tourist resort, it is something more: it’s a quiet and exclusive place, which has a saltwater pool and a private spa in its green garden. In the end, you can even admire and enjoy a lovely meal in the restaurant with a nice terrace that overlooks the Ocean; it seems a perfect spot for romantic dinners and hearty breakfasts. A fusion cuisine, in which Mediterranean flavours are mixed with the colours and aromas of local products and goods, starting from fish to tropical fruits. An unspoiled place to spend carefree days of vacation in Zanzibar in a real African atmosphere. Free Wi-Fi access in all the Resort

We came mainly for rest, kitesurfing and tennis.
The hotel is very well located, very quiet unlike the neighboring resorts which are much larger, permanently busy and very noisy.
For kitesurfing, the easiest way is to bring your equipment and leave from the beach right in front of the hotel. Otherwise, there are three centers about 500 m away. For tennis enthusiasts, the neighboring resort has a field located right next to the Mvuvi, with a rental of four dollars per hour.

The hotel is very nice, comfortable rooms with efficient air conditioning. The manager, Italian, is very friendly and very available to deal with any small problems. We have kept an excellent memory of all the staff, especially in the restaurant with Dreus, Grace, Elisabeth, Linda, Myriam….
The meals are excellent and varied, the cook obviously very competent.
The rooms are perfectly maintained thanks to Bambino.
All in all, we had a great holiday at this hotel which we wholeheartedly recommend.

LOVED EVERYTHING!!!!

It was a beautiful, natural property that felt like home. There were not too many rooms, so there were not too many guests, and we always felt comfortable. The rooms and outdoor spaces were all very naturally and tastefully done and were all cleaned multiple times per day.

Everything always worked, was always clean, and everything was thought of in advance. A perfect example of this was that on the last day, when we were going to the airport (at 2:45am) Grace was awake to see us off, and the kitchen staff had packed our favorite breakfast for us (they even remembered what we liked)!

We had only planned to stay there for 3 days, but extended our stay for 7 days because we loved it so much.

Grace and Neema were wonderfully accommodating, arranging trips for us on short notice - and everyone they put us in contact with (drivers, tour guides, kite-surfing instructors) was extremely kind and generous.

A special thank you also to Baracka, Fareeda, Veronica and Victoria for always being so welcoming and friendly.

Vacation never felt like this before. In other places you still feel like you’re thinking of things, looking for things, feeling somehow not at home… This was the first time we’ve gone on a vacation and really understood the meaning of that word. No worries at all, hakuna matata.

We (2 adults and 2 chuldren) spent 10 days in Zanzibar, Kiwengwa in August. We decided to book at Mvuvi resort because we wanted to avoid the very large hotel and Mvuvi, with its 9 rooms, looked to be the best solution.
Mvuvi (fisherman in swahili) is managed by an Italian woman, Carolina, and his partner Andrej. The resort is a real Boutique hotel, very well-finished both in the rooms and in the common space. Everything is extremely comfortable: very quite position on the beach, close to Pontile, and also close to a very good kitesurf school.
Food was very good, with the possibility to choose between upstair restaurant (with an amazing view) or beach terrace (same menu, only different location). Moreover, we could also choose to have lunch in the Lounge restaurant, close to the kite school.
We booked 3 tours with the hotel, everything was really well arranged.
Everyone in Mvuvi was really kind and our vacation was great also thanks to the amazing people working in the hotel. Carolina and Grace are the first ones deserving a mention, but we are thankful to all the staff.
Kwa heri Mvuvi.

From the arrival up to our departure everything was absolutely wonderful! (and we can be quite critical when it comes to hospitality:)) We were given an upgrade to a room on the 2nd floor with a big balcony and views of the flora and fauna for our 5 night stay. The room was very comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated. The bathroom had some lovely myrtle&lime scented toiletries of high quality. The grounds with private beach are beautiful, a lovely oasis-like small pool which was perfect to relax in, food and drinks were great, staff was very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed two trips on the island from the excursion booklet which is in the room to read and choose from. On our last night they surprised us with a private romantic candlelight dinner set up for us on the beach. So nice! We highly recommend Mvuvi for your stay in Zanzibar. It truly is a gem of a place.

Tip: if you book the turtle aquarium excursion make sure beforehand to discuss with the host and driver/guide which of the turtle place you want to visit. We didn’t know there was more than one and in the end we went to another one than we had googled and anticipated beforehand. Although the place we went was still quite nice, it was small, very off the beaten track and not located in Nungwi (which the booklet suggests) but near Fukuchani. We’re still not sure which of the turtle sanctuaries is considered ‘the best’ one to go.

We stayed at Mvuvi Resort for the second leg of our honeymoon and had a wonderful experience. The special thing about this resort is its size (only 8 rooms) and the space that comes with this - the private beach was stunning and there never seemed to be many other guests around so there was always lots of space.

The staff were lovely, and we really appreciated them staying up until 3.30am to meet us as our flight arrived very late. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. The book of activities in each room was a nice touch and listed a number of tours, such as going to Stone Town or going out on a boat to the reef. The hotel could arrange these tours and just charge the fee to the room.

As already mentioned the staff were really helpful with special mention to Grace and Neema who helped us make our stay very comfortable.

The resort has three places to have lunch and dinner, which is amazing given the small number of rooms. The beach lounge was a three minute walk along the beach and was a great spot for lunch. Overall the food was good with a blend of italian and local dishes (lots of delicious seafood).

I am absolutely in love with Mvuvi Resort. The property is a secluded, beachside paradise with beautiful greenery and freshly combed white sand everywhere. I loved the small, intimate feel of the resort and the property was extremely clean and well maintained. The service from the staff, dining service, room service, and massage personnel were all outstanding. Mvuvi was also helpful in organizing all of our activities (Stonetown tour, snorkeling/diving, Kuza Caves, Jozani Forest, etc).

We spent 4 nights at this small, boutique resort - and we regretted that we had not booked more nights. While the rooms are not ocean front, we loved that this place was small and not overrun with hoards of people. The resort is ocean front and it is just steps away from the room to sit on the beach. Tasteful rooms and very comfortable bed. AC was also in the room which made it extra comfortable with the hot Zanzibar weather. The staff went above & beyond and were very attentive to any of our requests. Excellent hotel!

We had an amazing stay at this boutique hotel. The decor beautifully combines Swahili traditional architecture and contemporary chic design elements. It's located right on Kiwengwa beach and has a fabulous private area with sun loungers. There is a seaside restaurant with stunning views as well as a second floor dinner dining room with panoramic views over the sea. Most of the rooms are found in a two storey building behind the main building and surrounded by greenery and flowers. Each room has a nice private terrace. Near this is a pool with loungers next to the spa area. The team is very welcoming and friendly, which helped enhance our stay. It's good for couples or friends traveling together. We only wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you@

My daughter and I visited Zanzibar for the first time and we stayed at Mvuvi Boutique Resort. I chose it because it was affordable and had great reviews. We absolutely loved it!! Grace is amazing! She welcomed us and planned and adapted the excursions to what we wanted to do. We paid for half board and it worked out perfectly. For breakfast each morning there was a different fresh fruit juice - the passion fruit was my favorite. For our evening meals, Pumpkin Ginger soup, Steak Frites, Avocado Salad and Passion Fruit cheesecake we’re some of our favorites. Oh and the masala tea!
There are chairs on the beach to relax in and drinks and food are available to order there. Mvuvi has a guard at their beach area so we’re protected from the hawkers. We booked massages and they were wonderful. My only complaint is we weren’t there long enough!

My wife and I had our 1 year anniversary dinner at Mvuvi boutique resort restaurant last night. We were recommended it by a friend. From the minute we arrived we were welcomed by incredibly friendly and well trained staff. the restaurant is beautiful with a ocean beach side feel but with elegant clean finishes. The food, WOW!!! absolutely blown away. We opted to go for the tapas style menu (there are main course dishes as well) style as there were just so many amazing options that deciding was just to much to deal with. Seared tuna, red snapper ceviche, baked brie every single dish (just to name a few) was so well presented and flavour well, Out of this world. I honestly cannot say enough to that the team and chef at Mvuvi for the amazing evening. Again thank you for making our special night even better than we could have hoped for. No doubt you will be seeing us again very very soon. Best of luck for the future..

My wife and I enjoyed a stay at Mvuvi this past October. We booked a Superior Double Room which was very comfortable. The resort has only 6 rooms in the same building which from the outside all looked the same. I expect they reconfigure the rooms based on the booking. In any event I don't think it matters much as the place is so well located and appointed that most of your time will be spent outside on the beach or around the resort. Allesandro and his staff are tremendous.
