Great little resort with very friendly staff and good restaurant.

Reviewed 3 weeks ago
Great little resort with very friendly staff and good restaurant. It's close to some big Italian package holiday hotels so quite a lively area. Lots of beach vendors so difficult to walk the beach without being accosted but hotel has an area for sunbathing that they cannot access so that's good. Local food at restaurant a better option than the western food. Swahili green banana and beef in coconut sauce was excellent and if you like spice, ask for some chillies to add to it yourself!

When you book a hotel you always read reviews with a pinch of salt. This hotel has fantastic reviews and with good reason. Everything from the welcome to our departure was absolutely first class without exception. A few members of staff deserve a special mention - Bernard, Mtoto, Nema and Baracka all helped make our stay extra special. The staff in general are exceptional including the kitchen staff who turn out superb food time after time and catered to my wife’s vegetarian requirements admirably.
Would we stay again? Yes, in a heartbeat.

Our stay at Mvuvi was nothing short of serenity and beauty. The staff was very personable, paid great attention to detail and made us feel at home away from home. The manager during our visit, Lisa, was a complete delight. She, along with the staff were spectacular. They all work really hard to create a wonderful experience for guests.

The rooms and grounds were well kept and the fresh hibiscuses around the room were a really nice touch. The weather was unseasonably rainy and made the best of it during our stay.

The food was very tasty and we felt there was enough variety. We arrived very late our first evening and were VERY appreciative of the manager keeping the kitchen open so we could have dinner before going to bed. It was extra special that Lisa arranged a candlelit dinner for us before we left. It was very thoughtful and creative.

The couples massages were out-of-this-world that we went back for seconds. I consider my self a tough customer when it comes to massages - and my husband and I were both shared of expectations were far exceeded by the two ladies that provided the massages.

We really enjoyed our room with the walk out to the beach. It was secluded, scenic and peaceful. It was kept very clean by the staff. There layout with the open bathroom plan, shelfs, tables and closet space were perfect. It had excellent ambiance when you wanted to relax and fall asleep. We would enjoy a return visit when we make it back to Zanzibar!

Room tip: Taking personal driver / taxi is faster than a dala dala Make sure you use cash / lots of ATMs in Stone Town

Mvuvi is a beautiful and quiet hotel, with delicious food and excellent service. The location is great and amenities fantastic. There is a beachbar close by with great facilities for watersports. There really is something for everyone in the family. We had a wonderful stay; I highly recommend it!

A wonderful hotel right on the water. If it is low tide, you can go out to the nearby pier and swim. Fantastic service at the hotel and very quiet and pleasant thanks to the few rooms. We had the room with a sea view and our own terrace which was wonderful. We had added half-board and it was a three-course meal every evening where you could choose almost freely from the menu. Breakfast can be taken either on the terrace by the sea or upstairs in the restaurant and it is á la carte, but you can have more than one of each thing if you want. Clean and fresh everywhere. Restaurants and some shopping nearby. Yoga once a week during the time we were there. Sun loungers that are enough for everyone. A small cozy pool is also available.
