A Lower Manhattan original, Gild Hall is a place of character and comfort that runs deep, just off the bustle of Wall Street, One World Trade and the Seaport District. Our boutique hotel endures as a neighborhood cornerstone and showcase for the design aesthetic of Jim Walrod and the photography of Slim Aarons, two American originals themselves. Explore the cobblestone-lined downtown streets, then indulge in the bespoke comfort of our guest rooms where rich wood, leather furnishings and brass accents anchor the soothing, neutral palette. Jim Walrod-designed tufted leather headboards, custom SFERRA linens and locally crafted bath amenities add a level of understated, appreciated luxury. At Gild Hall, luxury and hospitality welcome you on an intimate, honest scale.

We had a great experience at Gild Hall. As a Globalist, we were supposed to receive a complimentary upgrade to a standard suite, which was available during our online checkin. Despite a 1 King Suite being available, we were assigned a 1 King Premium. When we mentioned this at checkin the hotel said they had no suites available to place us in and we could pay for an upgrade to the Penthouse suite. We paid for the upgrade but this is not how it should work per the World of Hyatt terms and conditions.

Rooms are tastefully decorated and functional and have a great selection of snacks and drinks inside. Very spacious but that is what I would expect for their top room. Our breakfast was also covered and the restaurant staff were very friendly and the food was delicious.

Our stay was very short but it was a great one. Gild Hall offers a good value for cash and points stay. I would recommend booking as late as possible because the hotel dropped their rates for that night sometime in the afternoon.

Lovely boutique-style hotel in the Financial District near everything downtown you could possibly ever want or need. Street is relatively quiet for New York and every basic service is a few minutes away. This has always been my favorite location in the City. Rooms are compact but comfortable with particularly well-appointed bathrooms, speedy internet, and exotically-stocked minibar. It very much has a club like atmosphere in the best sense of the word. Only serious downside to the rooms is a complete lack of blackout curtains (a truly silly decision in New York) and only average soundproofing. Nonetheless, beds were comfortable and sleep quality is excellent.

Yet, I stay here every chance I get. I will move from other properties if a room becomes available here. I will manipulate itineraries to manage a night here. As a native New Yorker and a Globalist with Hyatt this is no small feat. I choose to do this because the service is exceptional. Not good, not excellent, but exceptional. I have been fortunate enough to travel around the world and stayed in properties, which pride themselves on service. I would put Rob and his colleagues up against virtually any hotel staff in the world (Okay, Park Hyatt Tokyo and Singapore Airlines may have just edged past them). I’ve paid a lot more money to stay in New York but, never received better service. A simple example: on the last day of my stay I left my passport in my room. One of the elevators was out of order and John ran up eight stories to get my passport in time for me to make my connection. There are two or three hotels in the world, which might do that for a guest. The reason I pay to stay here and the reason you should stay here is that, that sort of service is priceless. It defines the success or failure of a trip. That alone makes the hotel excellent value.

My only pet peeve is the breakfast. Globalists can only order a few items from the breakfast menu (re: cheapest) and even then are not given the full menu described items. The selection is poor and guests are given a choice of coffee or orange juice, but not both. I should point out the management of the restaurant and the hotel are totally separate. Nonetheless the hotel must do better. Head to Leo’s Bagels down a few blocks or one of the dozens of eateries around. Pick the hotel, skip the breakfast, and stay here.

Excellent condition and super quality of service and cleanliness of rooms especially in this pandemic! Provided everything extras that is needed to make stay safe and pleasant without needing daily housekeeping services at all. Provided adequate but acceptable limited choice offered in free breakfast voucher that comes with free delivery with Butler. Hand sanitizers by elevators were all out and needed to get refilled ASAP. Provided wipes in the elevator to use to wipe down and clean keycard every time needing to activate the elevator. Use of wipes to apply on the floor number buttons as well. Hotel free WiFi was not that good and very slow of 5 mbps but strongly recommended to upgrade speed to a faster reasonable speed than my own iPhone that have 5G speed of 200 mbps . My own WiFi at home have 1000 mbps which is a must for work or study at home remotely especially in this pandemic! Valet Parking was easy in and out. Definitely will stay again next time I visit NYC.

For the record, I reached out directly to the hotel before posting here. However, I didn’t feel that their response was sincere and acceptable, especially as a Hyatt Explorist status. The very least they could have down was return my point redemption I used for this as it was a waste. Instead I received an insincere email offering a discount next time I want to chance staying there again.

My stay here was marred by a series of small incidents that ultimately led to a very disappointing and uncomfortable stay.

First, while taking a shower, the water repeatedly stopped flowing every minute or so, leaving you standing there with no water for several seconds at a time before spitting back out.

Also, there were dirty room service plates and trays littering the hallway which was very much a turn off. I understand that it may take time to clear these away. However, they were all present when we checked in and still there the next day when we checked out. There was a pile of dirty plates and utensils right in front of 188 as soon as we exited the elevator and more l scattered near the electrical room door directly across from our room. Being this is a NYC property, space is a premium and several times I had to cautiously navigate my suitcase around these as not to make an even bigger mess.

Next, I realize that Gild Hall can not control the behavior of other guests but our room was next to the Penthouse which was occupied by a family whose children were repeatedly screaming, fighting and running around. What

Gild Hall can control is the insulation and soundproofing of their rooms. We were woken up repeatedly by the shriek of screaming children and fighting. On top of that, Gild Hall has the most uncomfortable pillows I have ever experienced, they are very flat with no head support.

In addition, we found the air conditioning system inadequate. I realize that the system must be turned to heat only for the Winter months. However, it left the rooms stuffy and too warm with little opportunity for relief from the stifling heat.

I've always been attracted to the unique boutique hotels wherever I travel. The last time I was in NYC, I stayed at The Plaza, but, although nice, it felt very impersonal. This was more of a fun casual trip and I haven't stayed in this area before. Gild Hall was delightful, the staff was welcoming and upgraded me to a Deluxe Room. I requested a quiet room and they accommodated me with a room away far from the elevator and facing away from any traffic. I slept great. The room was comfortable with thoughtful amenities, like plenty of signature water, Wellness kit with hand sanitizer & face masks, lovely toiletries, gourmet snacks & drinks, including a cocktail tasting set. I appreciated the comfy bed and well-appointed bath. I love the post-modern, masculine vibe in the rooms and lobby area. The lobby aromatherapy reminded me of English Leather, perfect for the vibe. Great location, close to the Brooklyn Bridge, 911 Memorial, Freedom Tower, Oculus Shopping Mall, Seaport, etc.

Excellent stay at this lovely hotel in the Financial District of NYC. Stayed here many times and I've never been disappointed. The hotel addressed the COVID issues very well. Masks required, social distancing requested and the hotel restaurant open for dinner, per local regulations. As always, staff were very freindly and accomodating. One tip: guests are required to request room cleaning. I didnt know that checking in and only found out when my room was not serviced! One of the best hotels in the area.

Close to subway, pier 17 and the Seaport community.
Great ambiance and restaurant.
Care was taken to ensure our comfort was cared for with option room cleaning, staff that always had masks, and disinfectant wipes in the elevator.

The location is excellent as it is a short walk to the World Trade Centre and the Seaport plus you have a major subway hub at Fulton St a short walk away. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby which is handy after a hard day exploring NY.

The building is old fashioned in a good way with dark wood and leather sofas and has a nice feel to it.

The a/c works well in the rooms, the Wi-Fi when it works is decent but we found it to be a bit hit and miss.

The bed was very comfortable and linens decent quality although the bath towels were inexplicably small and the shower head was fixed at under 6 foot which could be an issue if you are tall.

There is a free Nespresso coffee machine in the lobby in the mornings which is great although during our stay it was not well stocked with either milk or pods. Given that it is located in direct line of sight of the reception desk the should never be allowed to be a problem which does not reflect well in their staff’s attention to detail which is a shame as otherwise the reception staff were friendly and helpfu.

Breakfast was a bit underwhelming as it is only included for two so if you go as a family you end up paying every day for your kids which feels a bit mean. My other issue with breakfast is that it is very limited to three choices plus you get either juice or coffee but not both which I have never seen in a hotel. Again feels mean and let’s the hotel down.

Overall I’d recommend the hotel but not the breakfast option.

I had a lovely stay at Gild Hall for the Christmas holiday. I spent 3 nights here as I was unable to visit my family due to the pandemic. Gild Hall is one of my favorite hotels and this stay reinforced my love for the place! It was very clean, and the staff made me feel that they were prepared for caring for guests during a tricky time. Other people had not used the room for 24 hours, so it was fresh and clean for my stay. There was even a sanitizer pack with hand wipes, a mask, and a bag to put your remote control in during your stay. I was impressed and truly enjoyed my staycation here!

Perhaps I had too high of expectations for this hotel, but my experience staying at Gild Hall was ok. Prior to booking, I read a bunch of reviews online that really hyped this hotel up so I was a bit disappointed with my stay. To be completely honest, I would recommend staying at the FiDi holiday inn instead of this hotel.

The Pros:
1. Location (close to subway)
2. Very quite room/halls
3. Hotel decor
4. Easy check in and checkout process
5. Included toiletries were high quality

The Cons:
1. Bed pillows (super flat; don’t give you options like other hotels)
2. Bathrooms have no vents so prepare for ultimate humidity in the bathroom that will eventually seep out into your room.
3. Bathroom shower curtains (they stick to you when taking a shower, no matter what you do which is super annoying)
4. Housekeeping (we made a request for a housekeeping service 24 hours in advance (as you now have to do in COVID times). Some mix up occurred and we didn’t get our room cleaned. When I called the front desk they said we had never made a request and told us they would send us clean towels up right away. We waited 25 mins and I had to call back the front desk to ask when we could expect them for housekeeping to finally show up with towels. Probably got them on a super busy night but it was a little frustrating).
5. Another note on housekeeping (when we finally got our room cleaned, we were a bit surprised that they didn’t replenish the toiletries as we had clearly run out).

Again, maybe my expectations of this place were too high after reading previous reviews. I guess I was just expecting a little more from a 4 star hotel. As I indicated above, I would recommend staying at the holiday inn in Fidi instead as my partner and I enjoyed our stay there much more.

It’s something all NYC hotels do now. It’s something that was passed by the city council or some other equivalent regulatory body, not necessarily the hotel themselves. Although I’m sure that the hotels aren’t slow in collecting these fees once they were deemed legal by the city or county or some other municipality. Due to the insatiable nature of NYC’s social government model, this type of progressive taxation is only got to increase with time. Welcome to 2022 NYC!

No, this hotel does not offer airport transportation. It's going to be difficult to find an affordable Manhattan Hotel that offers complimentary airport transportation. We used a cab to and from LaGuardia Airport and it cost about $50 + tip each way. I've been told you can take public transportation more easily from JFK and Newark.
