Thank you to all of our wonderful guests who continue to choose us from among the many hotels available in San Diego. We're a family-owned and operated independent hotel in San Diego for three generations. We are built in the classic roadside inn style with exterior corridors, you'll be greeted by the SoCal sunshine as you step outside. We're in a central location, in a commercial pocket – we joke that we are nowhere but right next door to everywhere. We have a wide selection of room types, including studios with kitchenettes. We have NO HIDDEN fees. Free parking, WiFi, continental breakfast, and a DVD movie library.

Just got back from an overnight staycation at the Old Town Inn. We got a great deal on the Jacuzzi Suite, probably the lowest cost jacuzzi room in the city while maintaining quality standards.

The room was very comfortable, spacious yet quaint. Everything was extremely clean. The fireplace is a nice added touch, everything had clear operating instructions and it well was laid out in proper view.

Only downside to this room is the wifi was incredibly slow. I brought some media devices and the internet was not fast enough to stream YouTube. It was a minor inconvenience.

The location of the room is all the way in the corner of the hotel, it was nice not having to deal with neighbors all around, they did a great job making it as private as possible.

Overall I would go again. Thanks for the stay.

We took a chance and picked this hotel off the internet without any clue what was the best area to stay in San Diego.
We went by reasonable price and the quaint look of exterior and grounds. Just were not sure what to expect since description said 70 years old.
Since staying, we will not look furthur when we return to SD. Clean, well maintained grounds, very pleasant workers everywhere. The included breakfast had great variety, and served on real plates and silverware. No foam and plastic here unless you took out to room.
Conveniently located close to Old Town and 4 modes of transportation: Amtrak, tram/trolley, and Old Town Trolley Tours, and MTS Bus.

We were searching for a hotel near the airport and found that the chain hotels charge for parking so decided to give the Old Town Inn a try. We were very pleased that we did. Stayed for 3 nights. We enjoyed free parking, free wifi, free breakfasts (pretty basic) and a comfortable, clean, quiet room with a big screen TV. Access to I-5 to get downtown was quick and easy (thanks to my GPS) and a short drive to the car rental facility at the airport. Hope to return one day.

Very comfortable king room that looked like it was newly renovated. Because of the convenient location, there was a bit of traffic noise, but we were able to walk to Old Town and it was very easy to get to all of the attractions.
The breakfast and availability of fresh fruit was a very nice touch that I have not experienced at higher rates hotels.
I would recommend.

The staff of Old Town Inn were extremely gracious and accommodating during our recent stay as the COVID-19 crisis unfolded. The facilities were attractive and clean. Since we arrived by Amtrak and relied on public transit during our stay in San Diego, the location only a few blocks from the Old Town transit center couldn't have been more convenient.

This is lovely small independent inn.

There is parking on the foot print and is free.

The rooms are nice albeit more basic than a plush hotel. There are towels. Coffee machine, fridge and air con. Hair dryer even iron and ironing board, so lots the rooms are also quite spacious for a motel room with attached shower and toilet with basin. The soaps, shampoo are on the wall.

It is very near Old Town tourist area as well as Old Town Transit station, just walk across the road but it is a big road with crossing points.

from the motel you can spider out to San Diego.

The area feels safe walking around. It is right next to a military base electronics warfare so it geeks you do not see rather than drunken squadies ( or US version)

For US the breakfast is quite nice with bagels you can toast with soft cheese. Yogurt, hard boiled eggs, pre packaged pastry cakes. Cereals and porridge teas and coffees.

There is a waffle maker, Owners please leave basic instructions for us we worked it out. Get it on and hot spray plates with oil pour mix you got from machine next to the maker once poured in TURN over to start timer.

I would stay again as price and location make it ideal as well, breakfast can get busy

Oh swimming pool but to cold for us in Feb.

There is also a credit card charge on booking it that’s returned, like most hotels/ motels.

Pleasant stay and pleased we booked. 4 star as not plush hotel but in its bracket 5 star ( hope makes sense)

Just returned from an overnight stay at the Old Town Inn and would stay there again in a heartbeat. No view to speak of, you might be worried it’s in a more industrial area, and wait…are those train tracks nearby? Don’t give these things a second thought. The property is well maintained, spotless, perfectly situated if you want to go almost anywhere in San Diego—Shelter Island, Little Italy, Old Town, airport, ocean, attractions. Within walking distance of civilization. Parking spaces near your room. I booked a room with two queen beds…spacious with fridge & microwave, the best pillows and mattress, and when you close the door, you can’t hear anything from the outside world (Okay, noisy neighbors hooting it up outside my door at 7:30am, and the National Anthem on a loud speaker at 8am from the serious-looking Naval War complex across the street) but I slept like a log & so did my dog. A packaged COVID-safe breakfast bar—great coffee and loved the Aussie Bites. Best part: impeccable customer service, 24 hour staffing. I felt safe walking my dog at night and in the morning, and really appreciate they allow dogs. I think this place is a find.

We really enjoyed our stay! The staff was friendly and helpful. We had lost a car key and the staff was kind enough to check their security cameras for us. We really appreciated their extra effort.
After reading other reviews we had called the hotel directly to book our room. We had a kitchenette, living area, and separate sleeping area, it was perfect! (I never saw this room available through other sites) The Blu-ray player and being able to borrow movies was a really nice perk, especially when we were ready for some time to unwind after busy days.
The breakfast buffet was adequate and convenient. The room size, free breakfast buffet, and free parking are what helped us to choose this hotel over others, and we are so glad we did.
The location is a bit odd, but we had a car so it was fine for us. The staff was also very upfront and had told us before we booked that there wasn’t much within very close walking distance. Don’t let that deter you though, it really isn’t an issue. Plus, you can’t beat the rates when you compare to other hotels in the area.
Our room was clean, and housekeeping did a nice job. We also felt they were trustworthy. We had left cash out for a tip for housekeeping, but they didn’t even take it! We ended up leaving more money on check out day and hoped they got it.
Thank you for a clean and comfortable stay!

Room was clean and comfortable bed. However, giving a 2 star review for a couple of reasons. First of all, we stayed for two nights and it was not until 5 PM on the second day when housekeeping staff asked if we "needed anything." Asked at the front desk if daily housekeeping was offered, told it was, but that on the day we were looking for housekeeping there were a lot of checkouts and staff was busy. Second reason the included "breakfast" consisted of stale granola bars, a big pot of oatmeal, no fruit, no bread. when we asked if there was anything beside oatmeal and coffee a staff member found some packaged muffins. Day 2 breakfast was the same, maybe worse, as there were no muffins or breads at all. Seems to me if a hotel does not provide housekeeping, nor a decent breakfast, but yet charges full price(as we were offered no discount for this lack of services) then they risk negative reviews such as this one.

Hi KevinandJaney, Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and its apparent in this case, we fell short. As of now we offer a limited continental breakfast including, danishes, muffins, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, steel cut oatmeal, 3 types of cereal, fruit, orange juice, and coffee, and I am excited to let you know this month we are adding more breakfast items including waffles, an assortment of bagels, white and wheat bread, eggs, sausage, and potatoes. We do appreciate that even though your initial experience with our hotel was not positive you mentioned that your room was clean. We have a dedicated and hard-working group of housekeepers that work tirelessly to make sure our guestrooms are clean and ready for our guests. I take your comments seriously and I appreciate your feedback. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that you will have an assortment of breakfast items to choose from and daily housekeeping service. I would be happy to make your reservation personally and see to it that you enjoy the experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of. We have stayed here on all but one of our visits to San Diego (2001, 2004, 2008, 2011) and keep returning because we are happy with this place. The front desk staff were nice and helpful with directions and local information. There is a pool area with surrounding tables. The rooms are to a good standard with comfortable beds. A trip to the Zoo is a must in San Diego and when we stayed there were discount coupons available in the hotel. It is possible to easily get the light rail into town then a bus as we did on previous occasions but this time we drove and it's straightforward with free parking. You will need a full day (and some) to do it justice. Down town seemed to have changed a lot since our previous visit in 2011 with a lot of stores now closed and a significantly higher number of economic victims. The Old Town is nicer to stroll around and Midtown has some chain stores for clothes etc that are within walking distance of the motel. There are a few eateries on the main tourist drag but O'Hungrys was a good choice for reasonably priced beer and steak. Also a short stroll into Midtown was Modern Times brewpub which was excellent with a wide choice of nice beers.
