Unit #402 at VRBO #139 rented from the owner. this was the BEST unit. wonderful ocean views from every window (I saw whales with my binoculars almost every day), gorgeous condo, with everything you could possibly need. the high bamboo ceilings, the pretty decor, incredible kitchen, bathrooms, bedroom. This is technically a two bedroom with two full baths. However, you can leave the sliding doors open, as I did and it becomes a HUGE living/dining room (total is almost 1200 square feet). or you can close them and it becomes two bedrooms, each with its own full bath. the master bedroom has a wonderful King sized bed, incredibly comfortable, and a full bath off it. All linens are top of the line.

The furnishings are top scale, island style, and the lanai opens off both the master bedroom and the living room. There is a large new tv, nice stereo, and lots of books. This unit is updated as needed, with everything spotlessly clean, new and in great working order. It was breathtaking from the moment I stepped in and the loveliness of this place just made my whole vacation!

I can't say enough good about this wonderful place to stay in Kihei. The location, right across from Kamehameha 3 beach was perfect! Everything you could need for the beach was there. umbrella, chairs, towels, mats, cooler, etc.

The owner supplied a lot of great info, and checked on me while I was there to ensure I had all I needed. Everything was just as advertised and perfect! Incredible kitchen with all the right appliances, utensils, cookery, you name it and it was there and perfect!

The guest book has many entries of those that have come back year after year. I will be one of those returning to this piece of paradise. Go check it out on the website. Wonderful in every way. thanks so much to the owners, I had a great time and will see you next year!

We stayed in a beautifully updated & clean 2 bdrm 2 bath (both showers-no tub) oceanview suite (with 2 AC Boxes) at Haleakala Shores with oceanviews from the Lanai & Master, and from the Living rm & 2nd Bdrm windows! This is definitely THE nicest unit at Haleakala - top floor, front corner of 1st building....you can see the surf from your Lanai!

Vaulted ceilings & ceiling fans EVERYWHERE except in the Master Bedroom (no vaulting but still has a ceiling fan). Bathrooms were huge! Both the AC units did a great job of keeping the whole place very comfortable, the only rooms that would get a little warm were the bathrooms.

The condo had everything you could need for a home away from home. Great having an in-suite washer/dryer, used it every day for towels and stuff. A ton of beach & pool ammenities were stocked, didn't have to buy anything for our family of 4! Modern entertainment system, gourmet kitchen & amenities, comfy oversized sectional sofa, cushioned bamboo furniture, great deck furniture......I could go on and on!

Pool was very nice & clean, gorgeous Plumeria trees around it, as well as other beautiful flowers & palms. It was surprisingly tranquil for being located in the middle of the buildings, very peaceful! Lots of loungers, tables, BBQ areas, even an outdoor sheltered living room was set up with a few vending machines.

The condo building is directly across from Kam 3 beach, a beautiful beach! No wonder the pool area is so quiet! We also walked to a few different Kihei restaurants from the condo a short distance away.

From the covered parking up to our condo unit it was a bit old & grungy looking....enough to make you concerned about what exactly you've got yourself into....until you open the door, and the view & bamboo vaulted ceilings are great! It feels like a home! I guess what I'm saying is, MAKE SURE you get an updated condo in this building, or you could be really disappointed!

Bottom line, I would absolutely stay here in this particular unit (#A402 - found on VRBO), in this area of Maui again!

After much internet research we booked this property based on the owner's listing on vrbo.com and the trip advisor review. This vacation was to celebrate our parents' 60th anniversary and this was the perfect place!-everyone was delighted. We wanted a building with elevators, easy access to a beach with excellent snorkeling (just across the road) and spacious enough that less active guests would not feel cramped and confined. The condo is beautifully decorated and very thoughtfully equipped. We saved time, effort and a small fortune by shopping at the Costco near the airport and cooking most of our meals. The kitchen has everything a cook could want and so many good quality dishes, glasses and cutlery that we could serve 3 meals to 4 people and still need to use the dishwasher only once a day. The lanai is big and we loved eating and whalewatching from there as well as enjoying the magnificent sunsets. Building also has a first rate swimming pool and recreation area.

Since the unit fronts onto S. Kihei Road (not the busy part) you do get some traffic noise. It didn't bother us but someone who is very sensitive to noise might want to close the windows and turn on the air conditioning at night (the master bedroom has a separate unit) While the underbuilding parking provided would be fine for a compact it was a little tight for our full sized van and we parked on the side street without any problem.

This place is a wonderful find and we hope to return soon.

Good location. Covered parking is nice. The pool area is nice
It is a large unit (A303). Nice beach chairs. However it is very loud right on the corner of 2 roads, one of which is an old parking lot that has been taken over by homeless people and vehicles. There were loud neighbors and the condo needs maintenance and updates in several areas of the condo.

This was our (my son and I) second year staying in Unit A #402 - it's awesome. I've stayed at this complex before and knew the units were very spacious, but the difference with this unit is the quality of everything "in" the unit. The beds are great, the linens lovely, the furnishings are just top notch. My son especially loves the BIG tv and various remotes. It's especially nice because when you get a until on the top floor you have vaulted ceilings - it feels airy and spacious, not like your in a shoe box. There are two, double sinked bathrooms off of each bedroom area at opposite ends of the condo. The kitchen, dining and living room sit in the middle. You can see the ocean just across the street and watch the sunset from the lanai. I booked the unit with the owner through a web site called [--]. Let me just say, this place feels like my home away from home. We don't buy anything until we see what's in the closet as far as beach mats, chairs, unbrella's and such. This year we left a boogie board for the next guests to enjoy. You never know what you'll find. There are lots of linens, towels, pots pans, blender, coffee maker, microwave, toaster (a fully stocked kitchen) - oh and I have to mention the washer and dryer right in the kitchen area so it's nice and convenient. The location of the complex is very central - and makes it easy to head to Lahina, or over towards the airport /costco or to the beaches near by. It's by far the biggest condo, in the most central location at a reasonable price. The beach is right across the street and great restaurants close by within walking distance. There is also a pool at the complex, where you can grill if you like on the gas barbeques. Contact the owner through that web site - he's really helpful.

Please be careful when renting from this location and leaving a deposit, especially from Bryan Soloman of Century 21 Award. We gave more than two months notice of cancellation due to ATA airlines filing bankruptcy and cancelling all flights which left us stranded losing over $2800.

After pleading multiple times for a refund of our deposit and getting rejected. We finally ended up disputing through the credit card comapny, in which he emails a reply "Say goodbye to a resolution".

In other words, they have NO intentions of giving a refund even if they do rent the week to someone else.

When traveling to Maui, there are a few things to keep in mind:
-If you want five-star accomodations at top prices, stay in Kaanapali or Wailea.
-If you want to get a good deal for your money and are willing to (perhaps) give up a few amenities, stay in Kihei.

I've been to Maui at least once nearly every year for the past dozen years. I always stay in Kihei. I like the hominess of the town, the amenities, the easily accessible nice beaches, and the nearness of fantastic beaches. I've stayed in a number of condos up and down South Kihei Road, and my favorite so far has been Haleakala Shores A402.

You have to realize that this condo doesn't have the amenities of a five-star resort. You have to pay through the nose for that. I want you to understand, though, that this condo is not just a good value, not just a great value, but a FANTASTIC value for your dollar. Here's why: you are directly across the street from Kamaole (not Kamehameha) Beach III, and very close to Kamaole Beach II. Step out the door, head down the stairs, cross the street and you're in the park. Cross the park and you're on a golden sand beach with fine swimming and pretty darned good snorkeling. The room is great; nicely furnished, large updated kitchen, two spacious bathrooms with upscale decor, air conditioning, and a view of the ocean. There is one bedroom with a door and its own air conditioner, and a second bedroom area just off the large living room, separated by sliding screens. The bedroom has a nice big bed, and the second bedroom has a couple of smaller beds, all of which were quite comfortable. There's a nice lanai with table and chairs for enjoying your morning macadamia cinnamon roll (available just down the street, fresh every morning) or a sunset meal while watching the ocean shimmer just a short distance away. During the winter you can see whales in the distance. The great room has a very high ceiling, and the upper area is finished with woven matting, giving the place a real island feel. It's not pretentious and it's not overly fancy. It feels comfortable and nice, very homey. And, yes, there's a big TV to watch when you've pooped yourself out playing in the sun.

Now, here's the catch, and I'm telling you these things so you'll know this is an honest review: you'll get some traffic noise, both from cars and from pedestrians. This place is very close to the road, which is a good thing because it puts you closer to the ocean, but also allows the street sounds to waft into your room. How bad is it? Not very. Fortunately the place gets very quiet when you're trying to sleep, and the noise isn't overwhelming when you're awake. You can comfortably converse, watch TV and sit on the lanai without being bothered. I noticed that about twice a night and once early in the morning a souped-up car would go by and create a mild, short disturbance. To me it was nothing, but if you're sensitive to these things, here's your warning. Hey, did you know that Kihei gets traffic jams every evening? It does, and you'll be looking down on them from your room as both tourists and workers head home for the evening.

Haleakala Shores has a fair-sized kidney-shaped pool just down the hall from your condo. It's always clean and fresh. In the afternoon the tradewinds will usually kick a couple of tropical leaves or flowers into the pool, but somehow they just add to the ambience. There's also a shuffleboard court and a couple of stylish, covered sitting areas with island-style furniture and a little library. You'll frequently meet residents there, and they are generally very friendly. Respect them and their home and they'll treat you well. Not only that, but they'll help you pronounce some of the local place names, like Keawakapu!

If you're a snorkler, you'll find interesting critters in the ocean right outside your door. On my last stay I saw turtles daily, and all the usual reef fish are there. Every now and then dolphins will swim right past your beach, jumping and spinning the whole time. Here's a caveat: depending on the tide and winds, the water can sometimes get a bit choppy and cloudy. Sometimes you'll get moderately strong waves. On those mornings it's best just to swim or enjoy the beach, because the snorkling can be pretty disappointing. Wait a while and things will clear right up. Your other option on those mornings is to drive a few miles down to the LaPerouse area where the water can be quite a bit clearer. No worries, though. I've had wonderful snorkeling experiences right there on Kam III beach. I remember spending hours in crystal clear water watching a couple of day octopuses playing around on the submerged rocks.

Here's some information on your beach: it gets sort of crowded on weekends. I've never seen it so crowded that you couldn't enjoy it, but it gets heavy use on Saturday and Sunday. Because these are hometown beaches, a lot of the locals and their extended families arrive to enjoy each others' company, barbecue some food and play on the beautiful sand and in the gorgeous, temperate surf. Frequently the bring some of those big, blow-up play structures with them. These are really festive times. If hanging with lots of happy, regular people doesn't appeal to you, you can drive to any number of beaches that are more exclusive, but remember to get there early so you can find parking. During the week when the keikis are in school, the beaches are much quieter until about 3:00 p.m.

Be sure to cross the street every night to watch the sunset, then you can walk down to a number of restaurants or take-out places to get some grinds.

In addition to the comfy hominess of the condo, the owner is a real nice guy. Even the woman who comes to clean the place after your stay is really nice!

I'm going to tell you one more time: for your dollar, this is a fantastic deal! Really!

Want to thank Don and Terry for the most pleasant accommodations, most of all the comfortable king size bed and the sound of the waves just outside. It felt like a real home. Would certainly stay there again and would highly recommend others to stay. You won't go wrong with this choice.

Booked this condo because it had good reviews. The owner was nice and helpful. Upon arriving we knew something was wrong when there were roach houses all over. A dead roach under our bed. The sofa sleeper we could not use because there were live bugs on the bed and the mattress was gross. My daughter had to sleep on the floor. The place was dirty. Nothing like the pictures showed. Not sure why people stay here. The dishwasher was falling apart.

We just came back from a great trip. This ocean front condo is across the street from Kamo III. It is a huge unit (appx 1200 sq ft) and feels even bigger with the vaulted ceilings. Fully appointed with housewares and beach wares.

We toured an open house unit elsewhere in the complex just for fun--no comparison. What Don and Terry have done to this updated unit has made A402 far superior.

We hope to stay here on our next Maui visit.
