We loved staying here one night on the way to Hawaii Volcanoes national Park.
Place is very close to the Puna'alu Black Sand Beach. We saw lots of endangered Sea Turtles there.
Our condo included a washer and dryer. Soap is available at the front desk for $2.
Walking on the abandoned golf course was rather spooky...the old club house looks like it was haunted!
Even though the buildings look older and dated, the insides were nicely renovated with new fixtures and appliances.
Prices are reasonable for the Big Island.

Everything about this place made our stay extremely memorable. The room was clean and spacious with a great covered outdoor dining area. All the amenities were great. The proximity to the black sand beach, green sand beach and volcanoes national part saved us so much driving time compared to if we would have stayed at a resort up north.
The only snag was the after hours check in our key didn't open the door. But that was remedied in 10 minutes by very friendly staff.
I would be happy to stay here again.

We got our one bedroom condo through VI. My only real complaint is that the patio and sliding glass doors opened on to the parking lot- not exactly a lovely view. But the condo was well equipped, the bed comfortable, and the the hot tub properly hot, with a nice view too. There are not a lot of options to eat or shop very close, but that's not so bad. It was super quiet with virtually no road noise. We would definitely stay again.

Great location for getting away from it all. Long drive to Hilo or Kailua Kona where the "action is" but if you want to hang around the pool and take a short walk to the Black sand beach with seat turtles this place is for you. Real quiet at night for a restful sleep after it cools down from the heat of the day. Air conditioning is optional at $10 per day but if you are out at the pool you do not need that extra service.

This resort is a distance away from anything. Both airports and anything you would like to do is a little bit of a drive. There is false advertising if an airport on site, it’s not operational. The rooms were nice and there is a black sand beach close by.

Sea Mountain is located in a secluded spot right next to Punalu'u Black Sand Beach. The views are breathtaking and the resort is beautiful and accommodating in every way possible. The staff are friendly and willing to help if necessary. Sea Mountain is located away from the Big Island's major cities and allow you to have an off the beaten path vacation experience.

Booking was very easy. You can pre-check in 24 hours before so check in was very fast. The bed room and the bathroom were roomy and comfortable. The living, dinning room & kitchen was big enough for the two of us to be fine. I did do some light cooking. We would return ~

My family really enjoyed the seclusion of the resort. There is a black sand beach 5 minutes from the resort. The unit was spacious enough for 4. We had a 1 bedroom unit with a queen sofa sleeper. The kitchen had everything we needed and there were barbecues on the grounds. The resort is about an hour and half away from Kona International, so I would recommend picking up groceries before heading to the resort. There are a couple of small grocery stores nearby. Overall our stay was fantastic.

This property is AWFUL! Paid $60 additional fee for AC for the downstairs. Temperature in unit reached 86 degrees each afternoon. We were unable to occupy the unit during the daytime. Reporting this situation to office resulted in no response from clerk and no remedial action. Unit was very difficult to access from nearest available parking area for couple with mobility issues. A local resident couldn't believe we were staying there; she said she had vacationed there herself and never would again

Hello Don, I am so sorry your unit wouldn't cool down. The portable A/C units do the best when trying to cool (one room like the bedroom) instead of the whole condo. We do have EZ access units for those with mobility issues. Please let us know at the time of booking if there is a need for one. I'm sorry you were unhappy. We would love for you to give us another chance to exceed the expectation.

Sea Mountain Resort must NOT be overlooked, if you are wanting all the lovely natures of Hawaii but without all the tourism. Hubby and I in our 60's and have been coming to the Hawaiian Islands since 2015. We usually stay in Kona but we decided to try a few nights at Sea Mountain Resort. Wowzer!!! We were absolutely and pleasantly surprised! The drive from Kona was beautiful then the resort itself was absolutely gorgeous. Nearly spotless. The grounds are well maintained, the room was spotless and comfortable but the view from our private Lanai was the best part. We could see the pool area, the grounds but also the ocean. We had a variety of birds come visit. The staff were top notch! The popular Black Sands Beach is a short walks distance. There, we saw Sea Turtles and nature at it's finest. We were so pleased with our short visit that this year (2023) we have decided to spend 8 nights here and only 1 night in Kona! Our suggestion, stop at Walmart or the like and buy up your foods/drinks for your stay as it is a bit of a drive to a big market, although there is a small market about 30 to 35 mins away. This resort provided the tranquility we so much needed. We met wonderful people both at the resort but also at Black Sands Beach. This will be one of our mainstays when we visit The Big Island.

Depends on what company you have booked a unit with. There are HOA units and Timeshare units. If you booked through VI we don't assign specific units to a reservation till day of check in. You can contact our Owner Services dept at 18004446633 for answers to questions regarding VI units.
First time I went there was in the late 70's so before that. Originally built for the sugar mill workers on that part of the island. They have been renovated several times and are in good shape with good wifi even.
There are more places to choose from in the Pahala area.
