This “laid back Raddison” as described by the hipster behind the counter is exactly that: a cheaper version of an already no-luxury chain. The rooms are like dorm rooms with a picnic table instead of a desk, dorm lockers, no water pressure at the sink, and a half-door shower that allows water to spill out into the room. The floors are cold laminate, probably so they can take the water leakage from the shower. The breakfast is cheap and not worth it.

Water pressure is really bad. Even at low floors. We have already requested for one with highest water pressure at lowest floor but the sink is just pathetic. There is no way you can brush your teeth or wash your hands properly with that kind of water. Too little water with no pressure.

For the standing shower, there is no hand shower. Very inconvenient given the low water pressure, there's no purpose to have a rain shower with that kind of water... (Our room is corner king room)

There's only one table without any vanity mirror.
One full size mirror in closet. Wish to have more countertop space or extra sofa.

Room is extremely dark as there's not enough lights in the bedroom. You kinda have to depend on the lights from outdoors. Can't imagine what's its gonna be during winters.

No toiletry kits provided. Only shower, body wash and conditioner.

They provide hair dryer and provide microwave upon request.

They also provide mini fridge, cups and a mini coffee machine which we didnt use.

Not much food near the hotel, you kinda have to walk 10 minutes away at least for more food options.

We booked this hotel for a mother-daughter vacation, and found a great deal online. One thing we didn't realize was how much extra we would have to pay for parking, although we managed to get free street parking for one of the days which was a holiday. Overall, though, we loved the hotel. From the friendliness at check-in to the comfortable beds to the in-house restaurant that made us feel at home, this place checked many of the boxes. We made a lot of use of the free wifi and the fitness centre. We enjoyed walking around the neighbourhood, seeing South Park and the Portland State University and enjoying fabulous restaurants. Shopping, Blue Star Donuts, and Powell's Books were also within walking distance, although public transit was easily accessible when we wanted it. We would stay here again.

I stayed in two different rooms during a long stay. The beds were fantastic, very comfortable. The hotel was very good overall and certainly above average... this is an excellent location.

I'm rating 4 instead of 5 because I would have preferred more comfortable furniture, and I also wasted a lot of time with their chromecast system, which didn't work. I actually tried casting screens from 2 separate devices, in 2 different rooms, and most times it failed. I write this as a computer expert *and* millennial... their fancy TVs do not work properly. Don't get your hopes up.

It is a new and beautiful property but the attitude of employees left a bad taste in my mouth.

I stayed at the hotel for over a week and when I requested a late check out, I was denied. I mean I paid one week but I cannot stay even an hour longer? That is absurd. Front desk representative Eric told me 12 pm check out would incur $50 charge. He did not even hear me out. When I spoke to the Front Desk Manager, she basically told me the same.

You would think that when hotel occupancy falls dramatically, they would pay more attention to every guest. Well, you would be wrong.

Also, twice I had housekeeping barge into my room when I had do not disturb sign on. Privacy not respected at this hotel, either.

It is a truly great property with nice spacious rooms but because of the staff i would recommend staying elsewhere in Portland.

I was quite skeptical to book this hotel after the mixed reviews, but I am so glad I took a chance! Hotel Vance met 95% of my expectations. Honestly, it was everything I needed to ensure a great stay.

Pros:
• 2 Free In Room Bottles of Water
• Chrome Cast for personal video streaming onto TV
• Very Spacious rooms
• Tiny fridge
• Clean, modern, minimalist, chic ambiance
• Surrounded by a ton nature/trees (outside view)
• 8-10 minute walking distance to downtown Pioneer Square where concerts/a few food carts are situated. CVS is in this area + my favorite food cart (Fried Eggs I'm in love, must try)
• 8-10 minute walking distance to downtown Pioneer Square to take the Max Light Rail Transportation. Cost $2.50 per adult to Airport. Super affordable and takes 40 mins to airport.
• Very friendly staff attentive staff
• Starbucks onsite
• Very comfortable beds
• Shower pressure strong

Cons
• Limited cabinet storage bins
• Limited toiletries
• Bathroom sink drainer - clogged
• Squeaky noises from next room (despite this I still got a restful night of sleep)

Would I book here again? YES! I really enjoyed my stay and would consider Hotel Vance again for future Portland trips. Thanks Hotel Vance staff.

This place is awful. There was one person at the front desk that was helpful - Jason. Otherwise no one cared about anything. I tried for 3 days in a row to get housekeeping, they require you to request 24 hours in advance which I did 3 times and they never showed up during my one week stay. When asking questions at the front desk they were rude and dismissive. A member of the management team called my room about the failed housekeeping and kept saying "another training opportunity", he probably said it 5 times in one call. Nothing like throwing your staff under the bus. If every single person except one is rude and doesn't fulfill requests it's a leadership problem, not a staff training problem. No frills is an understatement, this place doesn't even provide the basics. Never staying here again.

Overall, Radisson Red is a nice hotel. However, it has taken the term "boutique hotel" to a new level. Beds were comfortable and luxurious. Bathroom was very clean, however were no shelves in the bathroom. Shower was excellent, however a bit strange with no door, simply a immovable glass partition covering half the entry. Sink was quite small. The bedroom was small with just a table and no drawers. TV was excellent with on-line checkout available.

Since I was staying there to escape the unusual triple digits that Portland was experiencing. A/C was very good, Window had pull down shades instead of drapes. Wallpaper was overbearing in a huge red and black design as were the hallways. It should also be noted there were only (2) chairs for a double queen room.

The Radisson shares the building with offices on the lower eight floors. Due to Portland protests your key card had to be used to access the building/elevators during all hours. I don't think I would stay at this property again due to the small room and lack of basic conveniences. Front desk staff was average, not really friendly or accommodating.

Because of the pandemic and county rules, the restaurant was closed and housekeeping was limited.

Dear Mark P, We apologize you were not satisfied with the lack of amenities both in and out of the room. Radisson RED values the term minimalism when it comes to our rooms. Unfortunately during these unprecedented times, we are also adjusting to policies with our housekeeping and restaurant to keep both our guests and staff safe. We appreciate you taking the time share your experience. Your comments are valued, and your suggestions will be used to consider improvements in the future. Cheers, Jon-Travis Morris Director of Housekeeping

We stayed the weekend at this hotel. Overall, it was a good experience. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good. However, they needed more stuff for the breakfast crowd. Our breakfast was not cold -but not hot.

Check-in was super easy and the rooms were spacious and the decor modern and fun. There is a grocery store within walking within walking distance for anything you forget, several restaurants, and the water is near.

We were there on a holiday weekend and use street parking instead of paying the $35 hotel rate. Overall this was a pleasant stay and I’d stay again.

Great family hotel downtown.

We stay around 120 nights in Marriott a year, and always love when a hotel puts in effort to make stay great.

Rooms are creative in a minimalistic style. Good breakfast. Location is great ad downtown portland has been cleaned up.

Cafe Umbria is close by with great coffee

One of best choices in Marriott portfolio downtown
