Set atop an expansive ridge, our heritage estate overlooks scenic Sturgeon Lake in the heart of the Trent-Severn Waterway. Towering pines shade an historic, square-timbered manor house. Loon calls echo in the morning air. Lakefront sunsets bring a warm glow to the dining room. Through careful design we blend heritage romance with contemporary luxury. Our premier spa, scenic golf course and fine dining ensure a memorable visit. The Dunsford House is at the heart of the Eganridge estate. Carved from virgin pine forests on the shores of Sturgeon Lake, this gracious log manor home blends Canadian heritage with contemporary luxury. Named for the prominent English family who settled here in 1837, Dunsford House remains one of the region's finest square-timbered structures. Massive hand-hewn logs speak of the home's early 19th-century heritage. On the manicured grounds overlooking the lake, sit five luxuriously furnished one and two bedroom cottages. Rich in history and elegant in appointment, Dunsford House and the cottages rekindle the warmth and grace of an age long past. Enjoy the spectacular view from our spacious Terrace Rooms. Glass doors slide open to a private patio or balcony where you can watch islands emerge from the morning mist or listen to a loon's haunting call. We welcome you to sublime pampering at The Spa at Eganridge, a serene environment complete with hydrotherapy baths, Swiss showers and an extensive menu of body and skin care services. Eganridge's secluded setting eliminates distractions, so corporate events and business retreats become productive and pleasant. Corporate golf tournaments are a house specialty. We have excellent menus and facilities for business meetings. Treetops, our conference facility, seats up to 140 people. Your wedding dreams come true thanks to our photogenic waterfront setting, professional wedding planners and hostess. Our wedding menus and elegant reception room overlooking Sturgeon Lake make every reception special. The Eganridge golf course has one of the most scenic settings in the province, and most tees and holes have views of the lake. Housed in the estate's adze-hewn post-and-beam barn is a fully stocked golf and tennis shop. The pine-paneled dining room and screened-in deck offer panoramic views of the most splendid scenery in the Kawarthas. An acclaimed menu features regional ingredients presented in the classic French tradition. Our vintage wine selection is unparalleled in the region. Experienced, friendly staff will turn every meal into a memorable occasion. Dress is casual; ambiance is gracious.

I rented a one bedroom cottage for the weekend for my two adult daughters and I. The property is lovely and small enough that it wasn’t too crowded keeping COVID in mind. The cottage was very clean (except for the spider web in the ceiling fan), spacious, private with a great view. The King size bed was very comfortable however, the pullout couch was terrible. There was also no blind/curtain on the front door which made it unsuitable for sleeping in that room. The blind in one of the bathrooms was also missing a slat which compromised privacy. The bathroom windows should have had privacy glass. The curtain in the bedroom was semi-private with a light on. The shower curtain liner also needs to be replaced.
The outside makes up for these few things. My girls enjoyed kayaking and bike riding and we really enjoyed the patio restaurant food and drinks. All in all a fun family weekend.

After reading reviews for Eganridge Resort we went with an open mind. However the resort was gorgeous! Our room was clean and spacious. We were pleasantly surprised with our room when we walked in. Views from our balcony were beautiful. Our only complaints were he shower was broken, water was spraying in every direction but down and the dining was very limited. We ate on the patio, not the main dining room, and there was only one other couple there and our service was attentive and fast. However the food was mediocre and the following evening we ordered pizza from Slices and Scoops in Fenelon Falls which was only a 10 minute drive. Overall we had a great weekend and would definitely consider returning.

Review for the dining room - we had dinner, I was nervous because of some poor reviews but the food was outstanding. I had scallops, perfectly done, and risotto, delicious, and dulce de leche cheesecake. Beau had french onion soup, smooth and refined with quality cheeses, short ribs, complex and delicious. Our service was friendly and prompt, and prices were completely appropriate for quality. Good sized portions, more than you would expect at fancier places.

We were excited to get away on our vacation and this place offered golfing, horseback riding and fishing. When we arrived pass our check in time, we were told our room was not ready yet. They said they would call us when it was. We waited almost an hour and never received a call so we went back to the desk only to be told that it was ready for us and no excuse on why they didn’t call. Since we never been there before we asked questions of the front desk. The front desk seemed annoyed with us and barely told us anything. That night we ate on the outside patio, were the staff barely wore masks and the wait staff could be seen washing dishes and drinking beer through the window. There was barely a menu and the food was terrible and very pricey. The chairs were not wiped down after people left. Just a quick wipe of the table. The next day, we found that our room was not freshened and when I asked, they said they were not doing this because of Covid. They said if we wanted anything, we had to go to the front desk for it but this desk is not staffed 24 hours. We were not told this when we booked and the price was not lowered even though we did not have full service. We even had to empty our own garbage. There was mold in the shower and the jacuzzi tub did not work. Also we would set the a/c but they controlled it somehow and kept adjusting our air. The golf was nice but they did not wipe any of the carts before the next person took it out. The pool was very dirty and small. The day we checked out, we asked for a complementary coffee and we certainly bothered the front desk since we were given quite the attitude. This resort, and I say this loosely, is the most unfriendly, dirty, and pricey place. We will not be back.

My daughter and I spent 3 nights in one of the cabins on the property earlier in October. The resort was advertised as a high end experience, both with food and accommodation. I will not comment on the spa, nor the golfing experience as neither of us took advantage of those offerings.
Accommodation: the cabin was roomy enough, the bed was comfortable, but the positives stop there. The towels were not only old, extremely thin and hard in texture, but literally frayed, with threads exposed on the sides. One cannot position their property as a “resort and “spa” if you can’t manage to place decent towels in the accommodation.
Pull out couch would cripple the hardiest of backs. Lighting was either nonexistent or capable of lighting an operating room.
Cabin was meant to house up to 4 people, yet outdoor seating was for 3. I guess one can play musical chairs…
Food: well, that depends on the day, the meal, the server and cook. After 3 dinners and 3 breakfasts, that became clear. Meals were either over salted, overcooked and mediocre at best or the final evening, wonderful. Same holds true for the breakfast.
Service: the first 3 dinners and 2 breakfasts offered excellent service. The final breakfast was comparable to ordering breakfast at a gas station, with the gas station offering better service. Our waitress was asked to provide us with juice. That showed up in 2 plastic bottles placed on our table. Having the audacity to ask for glasses, they were finally delivered. We especially appreciated her constant complaints about how she ‘wasn’t a morning person’. Really?

Final thoughts: choose to be a middle of the road destination or step up your game because nothing is delivering at this juncture.

Hello Edmunds51, Thank you for your comments. I will be investigating with our housekeeping department as how how ripped towels ended up being utilized in your cottage, and certainly do apologize for that. With respect to the pull-out sofas, unfortunately, we are quite limited by the comfort available on them given that they are pull-outs. We try to suggest them only for 1 person, and somebody who obviously doesn't mind sleeping on a pull-out. With respect to meals, I will be taking this feedback to both our Head Chef & Restaurant Management team so that we can figure out where the disconnect happened. Thanks, and I do sincerely hope that you do give us a try again. I'd suggest booking one of our Terrace Rooms, as these are certainly our most comfortable accommodations. Thanks, Jason

First of all, I would like to say that the resort, itself, is quite nice. We had a lovely room with a great view of the water. We had a pleasant experience in the restaurant. The waitress was friendly and expedient.
Unfortunately, dealing with Jason (manager) affected the enjoyment of our 2 night stay. A few hours after checking in, I received a phone call from him telling us that his computer system showed that I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights and not just one. He said I booked one room and then 5 days later booked another room online. I explained that I most certainly did NOT book 2 rooms. I purposely booked 2 nights for my husband and myself so that we could visit friends at nearby Balsam Lake. I even emailed him a screen shot of a message I sent my friends immediately after booking, indicating our 2 night reservation. He was quite insistent that I would have to pay for the extra room for 2 nights.
More conversations took place during our stay between front desk staff and Jason demanding I pay for those 2 nights (that I didn't book!). What upset me the most is that Jason would not even acknowledge that the error could possibly be on their end (computer error, technological glitch). This was our one summer getaway. My husband has not been working since March due to Covid and doubling the cost of our mini vacation was very stressful and upsetting.
On the last morning, Jason phoned and luckily spoke to my husband. It seemed that Jason wanted to make a compromise and have us pay for only one night of the second room. My husband went along with it. It turns out that it wasn't a compromise at all as the hotel managed to get a last minute booking for one night. So, in the end, he got what he wanted. Both nights paid for.
Because of this situation, it was difficult for us to truly enjoy our time at Eganridge. I realize the hotel could have rented that other room and probably lost money because of the error. And I am sorry for that. But, I know that I did not book a second room!
We are very unhappy and disappointed in how Jason handled this mistake.

Hello Mrs. Wiltse, I'm obviously extremely disappointed that the double-booking resulted in such a negative experience with your stay. Ultimately, we did try to have this resolved on the day of your arrival so as to not impact the rest of your stay, but unfortunately did drag out into the 2nd day as you didn't come to see us at the front desk on your first evening. In terms of system errors, we did do an in depth deep dive and could not find any possible system error that would have resulted in the additional booking. As well, you did receive the 2nd email confirmation. If we had been informed of this at the time of booking, this would have been a non-issue, but as mentioned over the phone, we were sold out, and to be perfectly honest, after how COVID-19 has impacted the hospitality businesses, we cannot afford to have booked rooms left vacant. On the first morning of your stay, I spoke with your husband and we agreed to only charge you for the first night, and take the risk for your 2nd night as to whether it would re-book. The room you had booked sat empty both nights. Jason

Another couple plus ourselves had reservations in the middle of September for three weekday nights. This is the fourth year in a row that the four of us have spent three weekday nights at Eganridge in Cabin 3. We have repeated these visits largely because this cabin consists of two separate ensuite bedrooms plus a sitting room. If it were not for the fact that this room arrangement suited our needs perfectly we would not have returned after the first visit as the housekeeping was abominable with dust bunnies the size of a softball and the floor in the sitting room was not clean in any fashion. Adding to this the deck boards were badly worn, in some cases, rotten to the point of being unsafe.

Other than the fact that the layout of the unit met our needs, the food was excellent and the service in the dining room was the same,

On each occasion, we had both breakfast and dinner every day. Our total bill each year was in excess of $2,000.

Unfortunately, our companions who have family in the UK had a situation develop that created a conflict with our reservation. When I tried to find an alternative date the resort did not seem to be able to accommodate us, or at least did not offer alternatives in terms of dates or the type of accommodations.

When I said that in that case, we would need to cancel. Even though I was giving them 10 weeks' notice the reservation desk said they would keep the deposit. As a repeat customer and the assurance, we would reserve a year hence there was no offer of any kind. I believe we will look at other facilities next year

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We wanted quiet and quiet we received. We hit a lull and we had the resort practically to ourselves and had the best April weather on record. April 12th through to the 14th 2023. Left today!
The staff seems like one big happy family and they were all so friendly...made us feel at home right from the start.
The food was beyond fabulous and filling. OMGoodness!
Happy Hour was only for draft beer which was unavailable but we were able to obtain other drinks at full cost.
Tony mentioned the bed was most comfortable...the room had all that we needed. Loved the jet tub...enjoyed the porch through the sliding doors in our room. Great view of the lake below. We will be back!

My Mom and had a mani/pedi at the spa yesterday. The estheticians were great, the spa is very modern, peaceful and there is a great view of the grounds and lake. We then went to the dining room for the Mother’s Day afternoon tea. Again, the setting is beautiful and the room and furnishings, including the tea sets were lovely. That said, we did wait for 20 minutes before we were given a menu in order to choose our tea. They certainly have something to suit everyone.

The menu listed the items for their usual afternoon tea which costs $45.00/person. Given that you’re getting a couple of scones, some toppings, some finger sandwiches and a selection of desserts, I honestly find that a bit pricey. The Mother’s Day version, same quantities with different options, was $65.00/person. That really seems to be taking advantage of the occasion. As well, the sandwiches we received were different from those listed on the menu and we had to ask the wait staff to identify them – unfortunately, none of them were to our taste.

When I originally made the reservation, on the phone, for both the spa and tea, there was a of confusion. I booked in for the Sunday but my email confirmation was for the Saturday and the tea was not listed. I called to clarify and ended up speaking to 3 different people about the tea – each of whom quoted a different price. We ended up leaving the spa on the Saturday as there was no availability on the Sunday for the tea.

Hi Karyns337, Thank you for taking the time to write this review, and celebrating with us this past Mother's Day. I also want to take the opportunity to appologize for the confusion around dates, availability, and pricing; as this year featured a lot of "new" elements to Mother's Day Weekend. It was our First Mother's Day since we began offering Afternoon Tea back in the fall, as well as the first Mother's Day since we retook management of and renovated of the Spa last spring. This is in addition to our Mother's Day Brunch, and Prime Rib dinner that guests have come to expect every year. With it being Mother's Day weekend, we felt it important to offer a "different" experience than a repeat of our weekly afternoon tea, recognizing that a lot of our patrons would be repeat, or hopefully, future repeat guests. We also felt that keeping the ambience correct and service level high was important, hence the decision to go at a higher price point, recognizing the demand for this weekend. With respect to the confusion around your booking, what I believe happened, is that the Spa, knowing you wanted to enjoy afternoon tea, had assumed you were informed that Tea was on Saturday and Brunch on Sunday, and went ahead and booked your appointments based on that understanding. I am glad that our email confirmation system caught this, and that it was resolvable. In terms of the confusion on price, this was an unfortunate oversight on our part. When setting up all of these events in our online booking system, there are technical steps required to "disable" the "repeated" experience which were missed, and in turn, one of our front desk agents reading the system may have understood our regular tea to be avialable. Again, something we certainly appologize for and we have added it to our list of procedures for future events.

We rented a two bedroom cottage for Friday through Sunday. We included the golf and meals plan to our itinerary. I can't say enough great things about our weekend. The golf was amazing, the cottage was clean and well appointed, and food was five star. The food was prepared with high quality ingredients and plated like a high end restaurant.
We came by boat and docked on site! What a great idea for a weekend getaway without the drive.
Thanks Eganridge for making our weekend fabulous!

Hi Shelley, The cottage itself is beautiful, offering a lake view at the feet of your bed. That being said, the bathroom is certainly dated, hence the need for renovation. If you would like, we are more than happy to move you to a 1 bedroom cottage (renovated last winter), or a Terrace Room.
