Property's Favourite Review
This was our third visit to the Ranch at Rock Creek. We had high expectations as our first and second vacations here were absolutely fabulous! The third time really is a charm. We were picked up from our hotel in Bozeman and had a wonderful scenic ride with Karl. The staff at RRC is top notch, so welcoming and professional. They go above and beyond in every aspect of creating a first class experience.

The activity guides are so passionate about their craft it makes for such an enjoyable experience. We did an array of activities and all of the guides were fantastic. A special kudo to Sam who seemed to lead us on several of our activities.

What made it extra special this visit were the other couples and individuals we met during social hour. The Ranch hosts such a warm and inviting social hour fireside, it is the perfect setting to relax privately or meet new friends.

The food is wonderful and plentiful.

What we love most is the remote location with stunning views, the myriad of activities and the first class staff. This is a luxury vacation with zero pretentiousness.

The Ranch at Rock Creek is simply incredible. I recently visited for a girls' getaway weekend, and every aspect of the trip was spectacular. From the second the staff greets you at the airport to your final goodbyes and departure, the Ranch makes you feel as though you are their number one priority. The staff is incredibly kind and thoughtful, anticipating your every need and accommodating any request as best they can. Aside from the top-notch service, the Ranch also offers the most breath-taking Montana views; no photograph could ever capture the beauty of the snow capped mountains and rolling hills. But the beauty doesn't end with the outdoors. The design and decor on the ranch is also stunning. The amount of detail that was obviously put into every inch of every room is astounding. It is luxurious, while also rustic and reflective of Montana and it's history. The food also reflects the overall attention to detail and thoughtfulness. Every option on each menu is not only remarkably delicious, but offers the perfect combination of comfort food and high end cuisine. Lastly, the activities at the ranch are endless. From snowmobiling and horseback riding to hot tub soaks and massages, you can do as little or as much as you would like at the Ranch. However you choose to fill your time, I guarantee your stay at the Ranch at Rock Creek will be the most memorable trip of your life. Thank you for a perfect vacation, Ranch at Rock Creek!

It has all been said in previous reviews for this property. The guest houses are perfect and any location works as each guest house has its own golf cart to provide transportation. The meals are what one would expect from a Relais and Chateau property. Even the Cheeseburger is over the top. The bartenders learn your name quickly and remember drinks one would expect at a country club--a very good country club. All of the staff aim to please and work hard doing so.

I highly recommend this property.

Dear PortolaValleyLMS, Thank you for your kind review and it was great to have you with us last month. Our bartenders are certainly a highlight and they work hard to make sure they learn your taste right away so they can not only pour your preferred drink, but even better to help you find a new favorite. I also appreciate you pointing out the hard work our team puts into making our guests' stay so special, it is always nice to hear. Please come see us again for another over the top cheeseburger! The quality of the food and culinary experience did not meet our expectations for a property with this reputation. The dining room was very underwhelming aesthetically. No views, low ceiling, and rather university nspiring. Surprisingly the property facilities had no real magnificent breathtaking views. The location is set on a beautiful river in a valley yet none of the buildings captured the view shed that one would imagine. The resort prefers guests to walk to the different buildings for meals and socialization however there are no trails to connect the cabins to the main lodge or the breakfast and lunch building. It was quite muddy and very dark in the evening. There was one small trail that went on a bridge over the river But that was it as far as we can tell. The guide staff for the events were all very professional and very knowledgeable. They worked hard and put in solid effort to ensure we had a safe and enjoyable experience. However the duration of The activities were quite short. The morning activity was from 10 AM start time until just before 12 noon so a little under two hours. The afternoon activity was scheduled from 1-3. So two hours. This may be different in the summer with regards to the Fishing program but this seems rather short compared to other resorts we have been to. As I said the staff all worked hard and were very polite. The equestrian program was very good from what we could tell. The people involved with the horses were very passionate and knowledgeable. They took great care with managing the herd. The housekeeping staff was very attentive to details and did a fine job. The property as far as the Lodge is concerned did not meet expectations. There was not the WOW factor.

I've been fortunate enough to visit The Ranch a number of times and I've never been disappointed. Whether with my kids, friends or business associates, a great time has been had by all.

Chef Josh does an amazing job providing an over the top culinary experience. Whether it's the amazing breakfast, the tasty, hit the spot lunch or unbelievable gourmet dinners - there's always a wide selection to appease the pickiest of eaters.

The Rod and Gun (activity center) is the heart and soul of your daily activities. Whether it's your first time or you're an experienced outdoorsman, The Ranch has a wide of activities to offer supported by an awesome team of guides. The long list of activities include shotguns, downhill mountain biking, fly fishing, hiking, floats, ropes course, horseback riding and photography, to name a few - there's an activity to fit any age group and every level of expertise.

Housekeeping and the rest of the The Ranch's support staff execute perfectly and keep their lucky guests comfortable while anticipating every need.

Kudos to the GM, Jon, and the entire team at The Ranch for providing the most amazing experience to all their guests year round.

The setting is ideal (especially during a pandemic). The accommodations are flawlessly clean, provide the rustic touches you're looking for, while also providing the luxury touches we wanted. The food is literally unbelievable given the remoteness of the ranch. How the chef/kitchen staff get the ingredients as well as the talent to make both home style and high end food with such expertise is beyond me. The activities are so much fun and the guides are truly passionate and engaging. But what truly sets this place apart is the service. From the moment you book to the time you get dropped off at the airport to leave, the entire staff is there to facilitate the most enjoyable trip possible and truly go above and beyond to provide that. My only note is that it is not inexpensive by a long shot (hence only a 4 on value) but you truly get what you pay for.

Dear theanswr2, Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience and for the compliments you extended to the team here. We have worked hard to reopen with a safe but even more enjoyable experience than before. Chef Josh has spent his 11 years here forging relationships with many local purveyors to get the ingredients you mentioned. Although it is not always easy getting the perfect ingredients here, your comments prove that it is worth it. I am also thrilled to hear you enjoyed your activities so much. Our guides are genuinely passionate about the activities they instruct. So much so that you will often see a guide fishing on their own after a full day of helping guests catch fish. Thank you again for entrusting us with your vacation, and we hope to welcome you back soon. In gratitude, Jon Martin General Manager

Evenings provided top tier dining experiences complete with expertly designed wine pairings and a top shelf bar all included in the prepaid rate. The Ranch at Rock Creek exceeded all of our expectations, from the location, cabin (Trapper Cabin), activities to the food. It truly was like something out of a winter wonderland. They have it all, and for all age groups! From horseback rides, sporting clays, sledding, ice-skating, petting zoo, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, to their very own bowling ally! We were traveling with our young daughter (15 months) and were a little nervous about keeping her entertained, especially with traveling during the winter. This wasn't a problem! With having all of your activities be private, allows you the flexibility to do as much or as little as you want. Having stayed at both Paws Up and Ranch at Rock Creek now, I have been asked what the difference is and which one I would recommend. Easy, Ranch at Rock Creek. Why? For our family it comes down to the small details. At the Ranch, the staff member makes you feel like you are family and everyone knows who you are. And they always seemed to be one step ahead of you. I'm a sucker for anticipated service! This last trip we were there celebrating my husbands birthday and from the moment we got there to the moment we drove away, everyone knew it was his birthday and it made the trip that much more special! Another example that sticks out to me is the level of service. When we showed up to any meal, there was a table ready with a highchair and sippy cup just for our daughter! She loved it! Again, its the small things that stick out to me. Oh, and nothing beats starting your morning off with freshly brewed local coffee and croissants being delivered right to your door! At the Ranch at Rock Creek you aren't just a dollar sign, you are family.

Dear RRIVER2021, Thank you for leaving such a thorough and complementary review. I am thrilled to hear you got to experience so many of the Winter activities we offer and still found time to bowl a few frames in the Silver Dollar Saloon. Most importantly though we're happy your daughter loved it since that is the most important thing to parents. I'm so glad the little things like a pre-placed high chair and sippy cup were well received. Lastly, we were glad to celebrate your husband's birthday and you picked a great accommodation in Trapper! We look forward to your next visit. Best regards, Jon Martin General Manager

We came to the ranch to celebrate my dad‘s 70th birthday. I had very high hopes for this trip. I read numerous reviews and was blown away by what I was reading. I was expecting exceptional service and food and unfortunately, that was not the case for us. The grounds and ranch itself are absolutely beautiful. The staff was very nice and the activities were outstanding however, with that being said, I am disappointed with the service.
Individually the issues I had were not a big deal however, collectively they do not add up to a five-star resort. I had to call twice to get our luggage and it took an hour and a half. Our coffee and milk were never restocked. There was one day that House Keeping only made our beds and didn’t restock a single thing in our room. We requested a carrot cake for my dad’s birthday that we had to pay extra for and they confirmed the cake flavor, however, on the day we celebrated they brought out a dry dairy free olive oil cake and pretty much just went to waste. I felt as though everyone was very attentive following up to the trip. They had asked what we wanted in our room, allergies, dislikes etc… I was expecting to arrive at the ranch and the staff to just know who in our party had an allergy and cater the dinners to each person individually however that was not the case. It seemed as though nobody was aware of the allergies until we told them and there were parts of a few meals that my brother-in-law and myself had to miss out on due to dairy being in them. The first day I had asked if we could put our kids in the kids camp and somebody at the front desk said they would definitely look into it and that they were sure they could do something however, I called 30 minutes before our scheduled rifle activity to see if they were able to get them into camp and I was told there was no way they could figure it out in 30 minutes even though I had asked four hours prior. I almost felt like somebody was blaming me for not being prepared. The urgency of the staff was just not there. For the price you pay I was expecting a lot more. Once again the ranch itself was beautiful, but if you are looking for five star service I’m not sure I would recommend it.

We had 8 members of our family spend 6 days at the Ranch at Rock Creek. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The activities were first rate of a guest ranch, each member of our group was very pleased with the quality of the activities, the activity staff and the instruction received.

The cabin we stayed in was too small for the 8 guests in our group (it was advertised with a capacity for 12). We could not fit our entire group in any one room at the same time for talking or enjoying each others company. The furniture was rustic and of poor quality. The bathrooms were small.

The grounds and common buildings were first rate and enjoyable. Transportation between buildings was by bicycle and walking, at times on muddy roads and trails. The common areas were clean and of high quality.

The dining experience was dissatisfactory. Most of our meals were served after lengthly delays and most of the meals were cold. Food was generally good but kitchen not able to handle special requests. There were not enough servers and the dining venues seem understaffed.

Hello Jeffrey D, We have over 35 different activities to select from. Some of our most popular are horseback trail riding, fly fishing and our gun ranges offering pistols, rifles and shotguns. However, some of our lesser known and equally engaging activities are archery, sapphire mining and respite on Rock Creek. In the summer we have weekly rodeos! I hope we see you soon! Thank you, Jeremy

When we were there in the spring it was always very casual. Generally people would wear more active wear during the day due to the various activities going on and then change for dinner but still a lot of jeans and casual shirts. Not formal. I saw that some folks got into the western vibes and wore more themed clothing and others wore more generic athletic clothing during the day.
