My family has been going to Treetops for 6 years. It is the perfect place for families with young kids...or older people who don't want to get hurt or stand in long lines. The ski instructors are wonderful, everyone working there is kind.
The hills are better than what we have locally in Oakland County. You can get a really good price on the hotel/lift tickets packages.
The downfall to this resort is the lodging. Many rooms are run down, have loud heaters and beat up furniture. They are slowly, very slowly renovating. But for the price, if you get a Groupon or Black Friday deal, it's great. It's cheaper for us to go stay the night at Treetops than ski locally on smaller hills.

A family get away that turned sour. We were locked out of our room 3 times because there was a malfunction with the lock. It took 25 minutes for hot water to get to the room, so showers were minimal. It took calling security twice to quiet down a party room where people were swearing with their door wide open. My kids don’t need to constantly here the F-word!! Promised Friday lift tickets and never received them. Skiing and extreme tubing was great. Food in the lodge was overpriced and not that good. $5 for a 16oz draft bud light. 4 hour trip for an ok weekend. Probably won’t be back. If you come, ask to be on the top floor because all you here are people waking around in their ski boots!!

We stayed in room 1136 in main lodge. The room was beautiful and we were super excited to stay until 6:30 am when the worst noise woke us all up on a startle. It shook our floor and sounded like there were 10 bowling lanes underneath us that hit a strike at the same time. It happened every minute for a half hour, then stopped for about fifteen minutes and then started back up again. Our family was there to ski, and we were super tired and needed to sleep in, however 6:30 was too early. I called the front desk to ask about the horrible noise coming from our room and was told it was the hot water heater warming up . Front desk clerk just giggled and said she can hear it too and she is sorry. This room should NEVER be used until that hot water heater is fixed or able to warm up quietly. It is not acceptable that our family had to wake up and listen to this noise instead of sleeping. I also don’t appreciate the front desk response.

We booked a long weekend as a Christmas gift for my sons, 5 and 6. Filled out an inquiry form on the website and they were quick to reply, Kayla went above and beyond in tailoring the package to fit our needs. The checkin process through the app was seamless, and we were pleasantly surprised with how large the room was, with a beautiful view of the snowy woods and the indoor/outdoor pool.

Staff was welcoming and friendly, and we had zero issues with any of the experiences we booked (sleigh ride, dog sledding, pool time, and snowshoeing). The property is beautiful, highly recommend this as a Michigan winter experience! Book your experiences early, we booked two months in advance to ensure we could get our dog sledding times.

This is how awesome the staff is- our oldest lost his camera in the snow, which we didn’t realize til we checked out. They responded back and assured us they would search for it!

Do I recommend Treetops Resort? Is there a stronger word than No I can select? Tried to reach out to Treetops directly about my issues, and didn't receive anything other than an automated responder...We can start with the extremely rude staff (outside of the rangers and cart boys/gals who were extremely pleasant). One night we tried to order carry out, only to receive no answer 5xs at the restaurant. After the front desk folks said it was closed we walked over there and it was in fact open. Then when we got our food, roughly 1/2 was wrong and we were charged $50 more than it should have been. Course conditions are subpar, especially for the cost (have been on comparable golf trips for $300 less and played nicer courses). Then the big one...You sign your life away before each round for the cart you are in, which is completely understandable. We strapped a $500 bluetooth speaker to one of the carts to use during the round. After the round, we came back from the pro shop to unstrap it and the gal said, "Oh we already gave it to someone in your group" - Excuse me, I'm with my group and we don't have the speaker, that's why we are here. So Treetops knows exactly who is in the cart when it comes to liability, but when it comes to customer service, they don't? If they did, how can they explain a speaker that's attached to a cart, be given to the wrong group? But that about sums it up. Treetops cares about themselves, but the customer though, not so much. Huge expectations, but it's highly doubtful our annual golf trip will pass through the grounds of Treetops again.

We stayed two nights and played two rounds of golf. The courses were excellent and challenging. However There were no services available on the course. We were on our own for water and food. The room was fine but there was no housekeeping service and the pools, spa and other amenities were closed due to the Covid pandemic. To point, we had to ask for clean towels and coffee for the second night.
My problem with all this is we did not receive any consideration (refund) for the lack of amenities. We paid full price for a premium resort experience and were not informed of any closures when we made the reservation and as of this writing all of these things have been released to open by the Governor.

The staff at Treetops is helpful, pleasant, and personable. The 5 courses are in great shape, even if the cart parts are a real mess at one of the courses - The Tradition. The Premium, Masterpiece, Signature, and Threetops were each excellent and in wonderful condition - even considering that northern Michigan was in the middle of a drought. Lodging was adequate, but due to Covid restrictions, or maybe a lack of workers, daily room cleaning did not happen. This might be a turnoff for some folks, but my group of golfers was low maintenance, so it didn't bother us too much. We were able to get towels replaced, and really, that's about all we required. On-site dining options were somewhat limited (again due to Covid restrictions, I suppose, but with two free breakfasts and a $75 food voucher included in our package, we did just fine. Besides, Gaylord has more than a few great dining options in town (only 3 miles away).
If you love golf, great scenery, and a pleasant experience, you will really enjoy Treetops.

The person that booked our family was not informed, shortfalls 1) we rented 2 sets of skis for the day our family of 6 was to ski, and they did not inform us that we had to schedule them 48 hours in advance. Long story short, they did not have rentals for my wife or daughter. No rentals over the whole weekend to even move our ski day, they refunded the rentals and 2 ski passes 2) you have to schedule pool time. We did not know this until we asked the front desk upon arrival 3) the pool time we did get scheduled was at the other lodge, not the one we are staying at 4) we were told that the couch in our room was big enough for a 16 year old to sleep on. Our 7 year old daughter could not fully stretch out.
Fully understand that COVID-19 has changed the overall experience and the resort has to work within the restrictions, however, the lack of information, miss information was frustrating. We still would have booked the trip, but if we had all the information it would have been much better.
The staff was very friendly. The resort is fun. Just need to better train the people booking.

We stayed at Treetops Resort one night, to do the Sleigh ride dinner. We had a suite in the lodge. The room was huge. It was mostly updated. The floor tile was older, with some damage and the kitchen counter had some wear and needed replaced, but the place was clean. The bed was very comfortable. There was a nice deck off the room, which would be great to utilize in better weather. This time of year, it's full of snow. Although, my husband was surprise they don't shovel it off. The indoor/outdoor pool was fun. The employees were friendly and helpful. The sleigh ride dinner was wonderful. You get treated to a drink at the bar, while waiting for the shuttle to the sleigh. When you arrive at the sleigh, you're greeted with hot cider, hot chocolate and a warm fire. Then you take a 20-25 minute sleigh ride to the cabin where you are treated with a 4 course dinner. The shuttle picks you up after dinner and takes you back to the lodge. With our package, we had a $25 food/drink credit. Which just about covered the cost of the breakfast buffet, the next morning. Next time, I'd like to stay a little longer. It seems there's a lot to do in the area.

We had vouchers for two rooms and golfing. Upon arriving one room smelled horrible- beyond what we could stay in. The staff agreed, but had no other rooms. They told us they would credit us due to the room not being available. Given we had driven four hours we had no choice but to stay. We had all taken vacation and would not have chosen to all stay in one room. (Four adults three who are very large so sharing a full bed doesn’t really work). They did give us a cot with a mattress as thin as a crib mattress. I was only golfing due to free golf included in the room. When it was said and done the resort has currently only credited us $34. Someone is supposed to be looking into it but said that we have to now pay the full golf rate— which we would not have done. We went because we had a room and golf for two, we would never have gone up there and stayed with four of us in that tiny room.

There is a pool at the condo's, as well as one at the main lodge which you will also be able to use. As far as things to do while the guys golf-- go to the Treetops web site and click on 'summer activities'. Have fun!

Reeda, The Lodge is currently more updated than the Inn. However, we also offer chalet lodging as well. Both the Lodge & the Inn are located at the top of the hill, on the main property. If you're looking for something closer to the ski/tubing hills, the chalets are the more practical option. All of these facilities can be booked through our website, or by calling 855-421-0197. Please do not hesitate with any other questions, comments, or concerns you may have. Thank you!
