The room wasn't huge but was very nice. There was no fan in the bathroom so if you have to have that door shut when you shower, expect it to be steamy in there. The water pressure was on the weak side but not enough to bother me. The bed was firm enough and there were both foam and feather pillows on it which suited me fine. I have a bad back so I never sleep well in hotels - I would not count that against the place though. There are TVs in both the living area and the bedroom and an iron, ironing board and hair dryer are all available.
There is a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and even a little cooktop in the kitchen along with dishes and
I'll be bringing my daughter back to Chicago for a leisure trip in April and will definitely consider this hotel (if the rate comes down a bit!). I wish I had been smart enough to go look at the pool as that's a big factor for my daughter. :) The location was great, close Jewel Osco & restaurants.
The room was fairly spacious for two people and the kitchen was very nice to have. Some of the glasses were dirty with food stuck to them, but it was good that I checked before using them. There was also several scraps of paper on the bathroom floor behind the door that were still there when I checked out, which means housekeeping did not sweep the bathroom floor after our first night, although they did replace our towels for us as we expected them to.
The evening social was very nice to have available. I went to it my first night and there was pizza, beer, wine, salad, and cheese/crackers.
The gym is small but functional. Free weights up to 50’s. The pool was warm and well maintained. The view from the pool level (19th floor) is great. Breakfast was good and better than most free/ included. It was well managed. Also the hotel provides a small dinner to its guests Monday thru Thursdays. Food was decent. Simple but in a city were dinner runs about $50-80 per person, you cannot beat this deal. Drinks included.
Overall the hotel is a good choice while staying in downtown. Excellent location. It’s clean and covers all the basics well. The furniture and finishes in the room could use some quality improvements but it works. Overall the quality and comfort / value, exceeds the cost. That makes it a Gringo Winner!!!!
Most importantly, the location of this hotel was top notch. It is located right at the heart of the city by the magnificent mile. Having lived in Chicago for several years, I know the location can't get much better than here - especially if you are a tourist. Overall, I was blown away at the value, location and atmosphere of the room. 100% this suite would be a great home base for anyone visiting to Chicago.
We set the room temp to 68, dropped our things and headed out. We came back several hours later, warm from walking around and wearing masks. Our room was not 68, it felt 78! It was cooler in the hallway. I talked with the woman at the front desk who checked with maintenance and was informed engineering had not turned the air conditioning on yet for the year, so none of their rooms had it turned on. It was only 65 out but with the sun coming it was warm. We made a tough decision to change hotels. We picked this hotel specifically for its location, there are several other hotels in the area that offer AC for paying $250 a night, so we left. :( upon leaving we were informed the charges would be credited back in 2-3 days. So now I have $650, instead of just the hotel price of $450 tied up waiting for the credit to process. I tried calling 2 other Hilton properties down the street and their phones just rang and rang. So after an hour and a half trying to get a hold of anyone at the hotels I was able to get a reservation at a Marriott hotel with AC!
Room was extremely clean and seems to have been recently decorated. The reason for me giving 4 not 5* is the sofa bed. My son was sleeping on there and the quality of the mattress was terrible springs sticking out everywhere we used the blanket provided to soften it for him, these need memory foam mattresses and not springs.
No housekeeping unless requested but we just stopped at reception to ask for towels when needed always some there and the ladies on the desk always friendly and helpful.
We visited the pool area daily my son enjoyed it he made friends and we were even lucky enough one afternoon to have it to ourselves. The view from the pool area is great being so high up. Always pool towels available up there.
Breakfast was great always something to eat and Jeremy was a lovely friendly face in the morning.
We attended the Wednesday night social had a beer and some snacks before heading out for the evening it was a nice touch and fairly busy.
Location is perfect we walked everywhere except Lincoln park where we used an Uber. The walk to navy pier is an easy one we watched the fireworks on Wednesday night and strolled back. You’re right on Michigan avenue and it’s an easy walk to millennium park.
I would stay here again if we came to Chicago it was everything we needed in a hotel.
Room issues - the bathroom towel bar popped off the wall when I hung a towel on it, and my husband went to adjust the shower head to his height and that popped off as well. Other then those minor things the room was clean and the beds were comfy.
The complimentary breakfast was delicious and the staff working it were very attentive and kind.
I contemplated moving hotels since swimming was a activity my kids were very looking forward to, but the work of moving all our stuff and paying additional parking at another hotel after paying on spot hero just didn't make sense.
This hotel was not cheap for a weekend stay, so if you are coming with your family and your kids want to swim do not pick here.
