My husband and I were searching for a quick Christmas getaway when we discovered this wonderful hotel. From our first steps inside, we were greeted warmly, which hinted at the exceptional service this family owned hotel provides! We upgraded to an ocean view suite and within 5 minutes, the front desk called to make sure we were pleased with our room. (Lovely!). This boutique style hotel is only three stories,(which is the regulation for the hotels in Lauderdale By The Sea.) So the beach is literally steps away from your room. Our room was clean and spacious and our balcony view was lush and breathtaking with palm trees and sensational sunrises! Very much a private beach feel. The hotel is definitely European in design and service,(which we love) and the care and details we experienced made all the difference in the satisfaction of our stay! Beach chairs were complimentary, the lounge, dining area was stylish and welcoming. I enjoyed delicious iced coffees every morning, and tranquil walks on the beach at dusk. All staff and owner were so friendly and accommodating! We absolutely loved our time here and can't say enough about the outstanding service we experienced! This hotel is only a 3 minute walk to the heart of Lauderdale By The Sea where there are all kinds of restaurants and boutiques. If you need fast internet, fast food and a flashy pool, then this may not be the place for you. But if you are looking for an intimate hotel experience, with amazing customer service and thoughtful details...if you are looking for a piece of paradise, relaxion and making special memories, then I really can't recommend a finer place than The Sea Lord. We can't wait to go back! ♥️

First and most loved the staff: Oldene, Loraine, Tatiana were all amazing with caring, uplifting, kind, supportive, helpful, complimentary, and sincere personalities, and incredibly accommodating with our arrival and departure! In addition, the cleaning staff were excellent and thorough with sweet personalities! The owner acknowledged my husband and I with "Are we enjoying our stay?" We always complimented "Yes, with additional statements, such as your amazing staff, or the resort is beautiful!" We noticed his attentiveness to detail and cleanliness.
Second, it was so nice to have a fridge, microwave, sink, and stove in our room. The full service grocery store was about 2 miles away. Although we had a car it wasn't necessary. The ocean view and balcony were spectacular!!!!!
Third, I went in the very clean and inviting pool once but there weren't any lawnchairs. There were, however, tables and chairs, and towels provided. Much of the time was spent walking the miles of beautiful beach, combed daily. Lawnchairs had to be rented for $10/day and $20/day for umbrellas.
Fourth, location was perfect -- short walk by beach or sidewalk to entrance to Fort Lauderdale by the Sea Beach where there was entertainment, day and night, nice and diverse restaurants, some souvenier and clothing shops.
Last, our stay was so nice that I hope to return to this hotel again and show my support to its amazing staff! Thank you so much!

So, we stayed here for several nights. It was an ok place to stay. The room was clean, and the view was fantastic as we opted for a Panorama Ocean Suite. However, there is an odd vibe here and unreal comments made about the owner and "chef" when we asked about eating dinner, which based upon the website, we were excited to try. I can tell you that for the whole time we were here. We personally never saw anyone being served a dinner or were told of any special menu or dish for the night. First off, when you look at the website it tells you about limited hours for dining, has a great picture and tells you "tantalize your palate with our fresh approach to classic dishes. You bet, it's limited from 11 am to 6 pm. We asked about what the special was for dinner and whoever it was cooking their regular bar food menu told us that "it's whatever HE wants to make as there seems to be no menu. She also couldn't tell us how much it costs. We asked her about getting a pizza and could we get meat on it like pepperoni. She told us we could, but HE might slap it out of her hands as "it's not how pizza should be" We didn't realize it at the time, but the little menu card actually had pepperoni pizza on it. We found it crazy that one of the staff would tell us the owner would slap a pizza out of her hands. Another staff member told us when I asked which one was the owner, replied.. "it's the guy that yells all the time"
Be advised that they charge $25/each day for 2 beach chairs and an umbrella. Also, on the website they advertise "plush bathrobes" which they don't have. We went out for dinner and when we came back, the little gate that is by the ice machine and elevator was already chained shut and it was only 730 pm. We ordered a sandwich that cost us $18 and 2 mojitos which were $15/each. The sandwich wasn't that great for $18. There is only one ice machine and it's on the first floor. The pool isn't heated as we went for a swim and it was cold. When you check in they tell you not to prop open the door to the patio because if you damage the door, you'll have to pay for it. Guess what ? When the maid goes to clean your room... she props the door open with the chair on the patio. There are no screens or any way to hear to ocean, so while you have a great view, you are sealed in unless you sit on the patio. Also, on the trip advisor website they advertise a continental breakfast which they don't have. We asked about it and were kind of blown off and told that "yeah, we don't do that anymore"
As mentioned, it's an ok place to stay, but for the $350/night, the odd vibe and rules, and weird comments made about the chef/owner, we'll stay somewhere else next time we come to LBTS.

This hotel posts lovely pictures on its website. Big pool surrounded by beach chairs, hotel right on the beach.
Reality is different. The pool is barely adequate and only three beach chairs can fit around the narrow edge, all with barely broken mesh. If you want to have a chair on the beach you have to rent it. No umbrellas available. Only one beach towel per person.
We had splurged for a panorama ocean facing suite, it comes with a kitchen which has only basic amenities, but we were not on vacation to cook. Two dirty coffee cups, one tiny espresso size.
The bathroom has no ventilation and a tiny window screwed shut.
The bath tub has a dark ring and hairs ! Yuck! Only one average bath towel per adult. Same for the beach, only one towel per person,
For the price we are paying, close to $400 per night, for a week, the amenities are sorely lacking, Breakfast is included, the basics plus old brown fruit slices.
Wish we could pick up and leave, Unfortunately we prepaid over three months ago and the hotel has a no refund policy.
The most basic Holiday Inn Express breakfast is sumptuous by comparison,
Never again.

Thank you for your feedback! We now offer beach chairs complimentary . The limit on the beach and pool towels is 1 per person, unfortunately over the years we have encountered towels being left at the beach and causing environmental issues with blowing into turtle nests and our beautiful ocean. We are happy to exchange towels throughout the day as needed. We have also changed our cancellation policy due to Covid-19 to 72 hours, with an refundable 1 night deposit. We would love the opportunity to have you revisit our beautiful beach town. Happy Holidays!!

Beware – don’t take your chance and stay at the Sealord hotel. I had made a reservation on December 18th 2020 for four days ocean view (three months before check-in date of March 24th 2021 for my family from WI that never stayed at Sealord Hotel). The Sealord would not email a reservation confirmation until one week before the trip and it had been requested several times. When they emailed the confirmation it was only for three days NOT Four days as requested December 18th, 2020. The Sealord desk help stated they will move them to a different room for fourth day city view?? The Sealord acted like they were doing them a favor on price and hotel. On the third day Sealord desk help called my family while at dinner and stated they were kicking them out of their room – So another family could rent the room they were staying in (Unacceptable and unprofessional) ??? Sealord Hotel was at compacity and they received more money for the room they reserved for our reservation and feel they have the right to do this – BEWARE! We were at a celebration dinner when we received the call from the front desk clerk and it was very disappointing/upsetting for all our family that were present – this is profound to hear any hotel would do such a thing. When my family arrived back to room there was a strange man touching their items and put in a pile on the floor (btw it is COVID NO ONE!!!! should be touching personal items of customers – nor should be in any ones room without permission) this is absolutely unprofessional and terrible! The desk agent was standing in their room with no apology for the Sealord for kicking them out of their room. It concerned my family that they would not take a CC at check- in. My family had a bad feeling about it, desk clerk acted like they were doing a favor to them - to stay at their hotel. So the hotels reply was: we will not charge you for the last two nights stay?? Seriously – so unprofessional and terribly disturbing (All hotels were booked in area for Spring break and they had to go to Miami to stay with family). The room was not clean and kitchen cabinet door was broke. There was dirt on the wall by bathroom. Bathroom floor was dirty. The WIFI doesn’t work all the time because they won’t invest in the correct internet system. The Hotel controls the air conditioning and tell their clients they will come fix it – they are lying. The door to room 408 to outside is broke and anyone can come into the room. The bed and pillows are uncomfortable (hard as rocks) and they claim they just bought new beds – DON’T believe them! There are hundreds of better hotels in same area – a Motel 6 would be better than this hotel on a bad day! Good luck Cannot say you were not warned.

You can't get better than this location which is right on the ocean.Everything is very expensive in this hotel from dinner, lunch and drinks. A very bad, untasty margarita is $14.50 plus tip. Any lunch sandwitch is $12 plus they charge $4 for fries. The pool is small and heated to 81°, which is a little cool. The rooms you have to be careful because on the internet they look very nice. When we checked in we got an old, dated room with nasty stained chairs, extremely dated bathroom and so small I didn't know where we would put the suitcases. It was awful. I went to the front desk and asked for a different room and all they had was a suite left for $100 more/ night. We prepaid for the room, so obviously they would not give us the money back. So we had no choice but to upgrade. The upgraded room had been totally renovated so it looked like the pictures. The staff were very nice at the front desk...certainly not their fault. So ask questions before you book your room.

My husband and I booked a stay at the Sea Lord somewhat last minute, about 10 days ahead of traveling. The staff was amazing - beyond accommodating, welcoming and kind. I called about 5 days in advance to add a night to our stay and they adjusted the reservation without issue. We checked in at the front desk, the person was nice and efficient. About 40 minutes after checking in someone came to the room to make sure everything was to our liking. The room was great - a full kitchen, small couch, and separate bathroom and closet area. Even the other guests were friendly and sweet. A very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Our room had a large balcony overlooking the ocean and felt private. The pool seemed a bit small at first but was never crowded, and there was always seating/tables available as well. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping and a grocery store. Bartender Hanna was wonderful, friendly and made great drinks. Even loaned my husband a book after they chatted about some similar interests. Tatiana and Christof were also nice and helpful. Everything about our stay was effortless and smooth. At one point I ordered a drink from the bar and they were missing an ingredient, so I chose something else and they even gave me another drink to try free of charge. The property is on the smaller side and the beach is fairly private - top 5 in the beaches I've been to. Was never crowded and we didn't have to compete to get a good spot.

I'm honestly astounded at the negative reviews for the place. At times they seemed understaffed, but anyone who's watched the news in the last 6 months should realize businesses have had trouble with staffing. Even though it was a small crew they were speedy with helping us and we were never left waiting for long, the service was by far above and beyond what I was expecting. It was a great value and lovely trip, would recommend this place to anyone. Hoping to return in the spring!

Could have been 5 stars. 2 HUGE issues.
1. They charge a very high rate to rent their beach furniture, considering other hotels include it (Tides Inn). AND offer NO other way to recline in the sun.
Their pool has NO lounge chairs. Their other seats are set up for table service... NO where to lay in the sun without paying, which I honestly have no problem, BUT...
2. The man that handles the beach furniture is not a nice or smart man.

I am a guest of the hotel in one of their more expensive rooms for 5 days.

I walked by the young man upon going to the beach for enjoying the sun and the surf. Set my slippers and shirt on the beach. This idiot brings some other guests chair out, and sets it over my items. I believe he was bitter I did not pay $50 to rent chairs and umbrellas.

The housekeeping came and through out my garbage, brought me fresh towels, and made sure all was well. The amazing woman at the front deck who checked me in, has only seen to my comfort during my stay.

The man who helps the idiot who places the chairs keeps the place super tight and clean.

Why you 1. have this guy on staff, I have no idea? 2. Have your staff literally stand in the walkways so guests cannot pass to pressure them into buying your services is really low class.

How about this, charge an extra $20/night and fire that idiot?

2 stars, and I feel lucky there was not a confrontation.

PS He is walking around like he does not know he did it! wont even look at me... before this post! Can you say guilty as charged?!

Positives were charming blonde lady at checkin. Her name starts with a K. And Tatiana very pleasant. Nice location.
Room wasn’t great. Depends I am sure on price point. At 4 pm I asked one of the staff if I could sit in a beach chair and read and he informed me I would have to pay 25.00 to do so! At 4 pm really !!
When I went to pool there were very few chairs out out for guests. I switched hotels and went to the Plunge.

This was quite possibly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. The rooms were hot and the A/C rattled loud the entire time it was on. On the coldest setting the rooms would get to 80/85 during the day. The beds were about as comfortable as sleeping on a futon. The wall outlets were placed in poor positions relative to the bed. There were holes in the walls, missing bits of tile everywhere, and large cobwebs throughout the vents. The fridge had a pool of water in front of it (because of the A/C). And my towels and blankets had stains and holes in them.. My traveling coworker also had a similar experience in a similar single bed room. I don't know what in the world was going on with our rooms but my goodness were they atrocious. For the positives, the shower had good pressure and the water was hot. That's about it.
