We stayed at the Dolphin for a week in late July 2021. We arrived shortly after the change in ownership. There were some transition items occurring but nothing that significantly disrupted our stay. We had a one bedroom room facing the canal on the upper floor. The room was spacious and having 3 beds plus a pullout couch was great for our family. No one had to share a bed. The kitchen was an added bonus as we cooked meals in addition to going out to eat. We had most of what we needed to prepare food. A large stock pot would have been helpful to steam shrimp and boil noodles but what was there worked.

The hotel has two large grills for guest use which also came in handy for meals. Some nights of our stay other guests used them so you may have to wait to use items. Parking over the weekend was not available due to the number of guests so we had to park on the grass. Not sure if this is a typical occurrence or not. Even with some noisy guests outside rooms were quiet.

The swimming pool was great. The pool was warm due to the outside temperatures in the summer but was extremely clean along with the rest of the grounds. It is about a five minute walk across the street to get to the gulf as that stretch of beach is one of widest on Fort Myers Beach. There were plenty of shells if you are looking for those as part of your stay. There were coolers and chairs available to use at the hotel but I’m not sure if the new owners plan to continue that practice or are getting new equipment as a lot of supplies went into a dumpster while we were there. There are also kayaks to use for free back near the canal dock. Bikes in other reviews were free but our information mentioned a charge of $5 per day and we did not use any. At the start of our stay the bikes were out front but were moved to the back during our time there.

Our check in information mentioned towel service for the room but we didn’t not receive any during our stay. Not sure if that was our fault or a change with new owners—the directions given were unclear. Also the front desk was only staffed from 8 to 6 and the after hours number was not answered during our stay. I had called about the parking situation and did not get an answer nor did I know where to leave a message.

We would consider staying again at the Dolphin Inn if we return to Fort Myers Beach. The location on the southern end of the island makes this a great place for a more relaxing and quiet vacation. It was unclear of what changes the new owners intend to make but they were starting to update bedding in the rooms during our stay. I will be interested to read future reviews to see if any major changes are made as prior reviews really complimented the prior owners. It was a large factor in our choice to stay here. This is definitely a place to consider if you are looking to stay at Fort Myers Beach.

We were looking for a 2 night getaway flying into Fort Meyers airport and the Dolphin Inn provided a perfect stay.

We loved sitting out on the comfortable loungers looking out in to the canal into the bay. We could easily walk across the road to the beach access just across the street; and if you wanted to their was a variety of chairs and coolers you could borrow to take with you. We took one of the double kayaks (they also had singles) out onto the bay. The kayaks are included! There is a nice kayak launchers and the kayaks are sit on tops with backs. The kayaks are nicer than the double that we rented in Lovers Key state park for $64/half day. Bikes are now included for guests and my husband took a long bike ride on the beach.

We enjoyed the place so much that we decided to go to the grocery store and take advantage of the grills and make dinner. After driving to the grocery store my rental car would not start (for unknown reasons) and when my husband went to check out a bike to drive down to see if he could help, the owner said he would drive him to the store! Fortunately, the car decided to start. Everyone just tried their best to be helpful.

We stayed in one of the bayside rooms, which were just as described. A small kitchenette (undercounter fridge, microwave, sink, two burner stove). The kitchenette had been recently renovated with new cabinetry and granite countertops. We liked stepping out of our room to the loungers outside.

This is a family run resort with wonderful amenities...they do not provide daily housekeeping (which is actually our preference; I just include it for information). Their was not shampoo in the room but they were happy to provide it when we asked.

I highly recommend this place.

The place is very affordable so you will have more money for meals and such. Travis and his staff are very helpful and laid back. it is located in a quiet section of Fort Myers Beach so be sure to rent a car if you want to buy food in what not. The place is very comfortable but if you are in one of the smaller rooms you may be a little tight so be sure ahead of time you are renting what you want. The beach is right across the street and the on site swimming pool is actually quite nice. Barbecue facilities kayak boats and bicycles are included with your stay. I strongly recommend this place if you are a new budget or if you just want a quiet getaway. As Travis himself said "it is a great place to do nothing."

I wish I could give this disgusting place negative stars. The room was filthy. There were serosanguineous (blood) stains on 1 pillow, pubic hairs all over the other pillow and in the bed. There were multiple different stains on the sheets (purple like a fruit juice, makeup, and some kind of oil). There were even dead small flying bugs in the sheets. There were hairs all over the bathroom including multiple pubic hairs in the shower. The ice tray had some kind of brown sludge and hair on it and the coffee maker had dirt and debris in the water reservoir and in the pot. I called customer service and told them we could not stay in a room that nasty and requested a refund since it had been about 15 minutes since we checked in. They made excuses and insisted they had an “overwhelming majority of positive experiences.” As if this awful experience was somehow my fault.
Seriously, don’t stay there, it’s the absolute worst hotel I’ve ever seen. Oh, did I mention the rancid meat smell?

Boutique is the last word I would use for our room.
Not worth the price we paid through Airbnb. Old and out dated. Everything worn out but the bed. Thin white curtain in the bedroom that opens to a balcony and other houses.

We had to get dressed on the dark so
I won't be seen.

All the tables were marked up, dented. The coach and chairs were stained, tears and very very well used.
The coating on the Kitchen cabinets and drawers were peeling off. Fans were so dirty.

No private deck chairs outside your door if you are in the one bedroom like in the picture shows just cheap plastic chair.

And to top it all off we have to do take the garbage out, take the linens to the landry room and I paid a Cleaning Fee.

We booked last minute because our flight got changed and our place at Lovers Key wasn't available for an extra day. There was some confusion about the rate but the owner was very nice and honored the price quoted by Expedia. We were pleasantly surprised, the place was great. Very clean, the heated pool was nice and everything you could need was close by. We just booked a week long stay here in November, that's how much we liked it. The rates are very reasonable. We have stayed in Redington Beach for years and this is our new place.

This was our first trip to Fort Myers Beach Florida and The Dolphin Inn and we had a wonderful time! Travis and his staff do a great job keeping this place in shape. We had an efficiency room overlooking the lagoon and we were greeted by the sunrise every morning. The hotel has bicyles and kayaks for the guests to use for those wishing to set out on adventure. They had a nice clean swimming pool which was located in the front of the building. Also the hotel is located across the street from the beach if you wish to swim in the Gulf of Mexico. If you do not have use of a car there is a Trolley that runs out front to take you around the Island. We had a great time and would return again.

We have visited the Dolphin Inn 2 times and both visits were memorable and amazing! It is a family run hotel with amenities that make a trip extra special. They offer guests free bike rental, kayaks with ocean launch, laundry, heated pool and shuffle board. The rooms are clean with full kitchens and it is in walking distance to basically anything you need. If you didnt have a car, you would still be a short bike ride or walk to the beach, movie theater, grocery store, shopping, fruit market, convenience stores and more! Travis, the owner, is hard working and hands on to every detail. I look forward to many more trips there!

Loved this place! The place was very clean! Check in was super easy because they just emailed you a code and you could head right in! It had a full kitchen which was super convenient. The place was larger than I expected. The pool was nice and the beach was a short walk across the street. There were bikes and kayaks for guests to use. Everyone was super friendly, and there was the sweetest cat always welcoming us!

We just finished a week at the Dolphin Inn and had a fantastic experience. Travis and all the stuff were so kind, accommodating and always went above and beyond. The pool was amazing. The canal view and seating from our room deck was so relaxing. Easy access to the beach across the street. The beach was huge and never felt busy. Free use of their bikes, kayaks and beach accessories was a huge bonus!! We will be back everytime we are in the area!

The motel is a couple miles south of the contruction, but it was a real mess up near the bridge and times square. When we needed to get off the island, we went south to Bonita Beach most of the time. Now it was a little better up there after 3 on Friday, and for the weekend.they had 2 lanes going. so I imagine they will quit Wed afternoon of thanksgiving week and not start up again til Monday, But that is just a guess..good luck!

can't say about that bedroom but ours had a small deck outside the bedroom from which you could see the canal it also had a spiral stairway which led down to the large patio area and grills. For dining we tried the BLUEWATER BEACH GRILL, near the jetty in Fort Pierce and we had a most enjoyable meal.
