We exchanged our time share and stayed here the week of January 19. The location of this resort is excellent. You are right in the center of all things and across the street from the famed Coronado Hotel. Beach access is right across the street and you are steps from various restaurants.
We stayed in a one bedroom with a kitchenette. No stove but there is a portable hot plate with two burners. It worked quite well for making eggs and spaghetti. The room was a bit small but it worked just fine when our friends stayed a few nights on the pull out couch.
The resort crowd is a bit older so it's quiet. The activities include a couple of happy hour social events which we enjoyed. The resort is a bit on the small side but that adds to the charm. We enjoyed the hot tub and sauna on the third floor overlooking the main drag. There is no swimming pool but you do have access to Loews Hotel which has three heated pools. There is a complimentary shuttle that will take you there. The resort offers complimentary use of bikes and beach equipment. There were beach carts that you could use as well. This was a nice feature. We rode the bikes along the beach and that was wonderful. There are also DVDs that you can check out as well as a owners lounge with a pool table and ping pong table that we used. The gym is small but it is enough, afterall you are on vacation. The kids will enjoy the resident parrot.
Monday through Friday there are various restaurants within walking distance that offer happy hour. The Brigantine tacos are not to be missed!
The staff is very helpful and accomodating. Rooms are clean and updated. Overall worth a stay. Be aware that there is a daily resort fee of $27. This surprised me since we exchanged our time share and paid an exchange fee. For 7 days, I paid an additional $200 for this resort fee.

I was suppose to be on a ski vacation but the slopes closed. Since I'm currently out of work and I had to use my RCI points quickly, I opted for a staycation near my home in San Diego. I sure picked the right one. This place is super clean and the staff is always smiling and super professional. I think that says a lot if staff can keep everything going smoothly with a smile during this pandemic. Ms. Cody, the hotel mascot, is so completely intoxicating. I found myself spending every morning exchanging "hello"s with her for 10 minutes or more. The resort only had 8 rooms filled, so we were fully able to enjoy the amenities (other than the gym which was under renovation). The rooftop jacuzzi was addictive--since the weather can be a bit nippy in March, and the sunsets from here were beautiful. We enjoyed the grills and sauna as well. The free bike checkout was great. The cruiser bikes are perfect for exploring the island (perhaps not the best for riding the Strand). The entire resort and room was super clean and nicely furnished and comfy. A shout out to Jazel who upgraded our room to one with a better view due to the low occupancy. This was the perfect way to quarantine for a week and make this difficult time a bit more bearable.

We loved the location of the resort, however our rooms were SO NOISY. Literally did not sleep all night long due to street traffic. When I go away on vacation, the one thing I look forward to is sleeping in - not only did I not sleep in, but I didn't sleep at all. The property should look into sound machines for all the rooms that face the street or upgrading the windows to block out sound.

Directly across from the Del Coronado. We do not have a car when here and find that there is plenty of shops and reataurants within walking. Also easy to catch the Bus to the Ferry Landing. Although this facility is older it has been well maintained. Due to the property size/location the rooms are goofy in size and layout. Fire regulation dictates that some of the bedrooms have curtains rather that doors as there is no secondairy exit directly from the bedroom. That works. Two Bd Rooms have a "master" bedroom with bath. But actually it has a sink in the room with a narrow "closet" containing the toliet and shower. None of the rooms are large. As a condo the "kitchen" is just a 5 ft counter with Microwave and Dishwasher and sink. Almost no counter space. They list the two bed units as "sleeps 6" But even three of us were tripping over each other. There is limited seating in the dining-Living room. One Couch, and no other chair unless you use one of the 2 chairs at the dinning table. Only the light is within the overhead Fan for lighting to read by. There is two flood lights over the small table. One Bedroom unit was nearly the same but a bit? more room in the living room. Note most all rooms have a different layout due the the building shape. We have been in 4 different rooms.

Stayed as a couple for 4 nights. Really quiet during the week with quite a few empty rooms. Did not see much of housekeeping since we did not require room cleaning, did come in and empty trash and drop off coffee packet. Faced the rear of the building with the only noise when windows open was the restaurant across the street. Easy parking which offset the resort charge since meters are everywhere, only left for one day otherwise stayed parked and walked everywhere. If you can't walk long distances then there isn't much to do.

In light of what is going on in the world we had no idea what to expect when we arrived for our vacation this year. But I have to say CBR has done their best to make us still feel like this is our home away from home. It was very sad that they had to cancel so many of our favorite things about our week there - the margaritas, the donuts, the different outings they plan. The saving grace was the friendly faces (even with masks) were still there and our favorite bird, Ms. Cody, still graced the lobby and was so happy to see people (my daughter in particular). Don't let COVID keep you home - go to your happy place at CBR - I'm glad we did!

Coronado Beach Resort recently reopened. Brought our family for the week 6/29. Very happy to see all the precautions staff are taking to protect guests and makes everyone feel safe. Masks and gloves always work by the staff. Rooms sanitized and sealed before guests arrive in their rooms. Very much appreciate all the effort made by the management.

Our family of 4 stayed in a one bedroom on the 3rd floor and enjoyed our stay. We walked to most places, but drove to the Ferry Landing and the Zoo. I attended a conference across the street at the Del and so glad I stayed at the CBR instead esp since we had a kitchenette and it was cozy and quiet!
From the pics I was scared this place would be old and dingy, but no, it was nice, clean, and smelled good! The three people we met at the front desk (on different days) were nice, informative, and made us feel welcome. We parked free of charge in the garage which is nice because we noticed parking is hard to come by on the island!
We were so glad we stayed here, would definitely stay here again.

My family are owners here, so I'm biased, but we love the CBR. It's our home away from home 2 weeks a year. The location is super, most of the staff is beyond helpful and nice, and the rooms are great. The resort is aging a bit, but they have maintained it well (other than the toilets, which always clog...it's become quite the joke for us). It's so nice to have chairs, towels, beach cruisers, and boogie boards available for use. One note....there is traffic sound early in the morning on the Orange Avenue side of the resort, so if that is a problem for you, try the back side of the resort.

There is a $25 per day Resort Fee that everyone pays unless you are a ”Legacy” owner (own 3 or more weeks in GPX resorts). If you are not Legacy, or are a guest, you will pay the Resort Fee.
Yes there is a bus service around the island and one that goes into San Diego. We also take the ferry over and either walk or take a pedi cab
You can also take the bust to the transportation center in SAN and then catch the Trolley. It will even take you East, north and south.
There are more places to choose from in the Coronado area.
