A dream realized by Italian fashion designer, Piergiorgio, this white clapboard inn has a wrap-around verandah adorned with ornamental gingerbread, characteristic of Sosua's glory days in the Victorian era. The front entrance replicates a gazebo and faces a dramatic marble staircase that ascends to the third-floor, Italianate penthouses with expansive sundecks.

This is a really unique property.

Accepted some reviews focus on maintenance issues. I find this a harsh assessment. Accepted there are rough edges however I see every sign they are investing in maintenance and overall I had no issues.

The hotel is walkable from town yet on the quite clifftop (aside from crashing waves).

Staff were great, free parking (Sosua has parking challenges).

The two pools are spotlessly clean and maintained and the aspect of the property on the cliffs is awesome.

I suspect I was given a lesser appealing room (land not sea facing), however I had only paid $29 B&B via a well known BOOKINGS website and the room was just fine, not up-to-date modern however large with good A/C and hot (warm) water. Very happy

We went on a car trip all around the island of the Dominican Republic staying at the various resorts. We found Piergiorgio to be spectacular. Not only was the food, view, beach, pool, etc. awesome, but this was the ONLY hotel including some 5 stars that we visited that did not smell like musty, humid, mold. Thats usually the price you pay for staying next to the beach, but this was different: the bathroom was sparkling, and the view from our personal deck was breathtaking. Not only that but Sosua is one of the few resort towns in D.R. where I felt that there were as many Dominicans enjoying the beach as gringos. Overall a great experience.

The most romantic dinner my wife and I ever had.. alcoves for two jutting out over bay, impeccable service and outstanding food. We stayed last year and am just about to make reservations for this year. I loved the spacious winding staircase. The rooms were more than adequate. Piergeorgio is a gracious host who makes sure he meets all his guests He even drove us to mass on Sunday. A lady that joined us for mass was staying a month... and she told us she and her husband have been doing it for years! Not a complaint one.

I must say, the number of positive reviews gave me confidence to book a week stay at this hotel. Upon arrival, my first impression of the hotel was unpleasant. The place is in desperate need of repair, the room was no better. Furniture was outdated, bathroom fixtures were broken, the endless disturbance from a leaky shower head, leaky roof whenever it rained…. The list goes on. Walk out to the terraces to view the ocean, you’ll see half of them have been closed from collapse. This place drove me away only to return to spend the night. Never again will I stay at this dreadful place.

Maintenance is nonexistent and it has numerous hazards as it sits on a steep cliff.

Additionally, with the exception of the front desk staff and one female waitress the staff are not welcoming at all. One male staffer in the restaurant openly said he refused to serve us because I forgot to tip him the previous night.

This place is nasty and has terrible service. It is an accident waiting to happen. I cut my stay short a day because it was terrible.

Terrible restaurant! A 5 page where nothing on pages 3 and 4 were available. They couldn't make a mojito because they ran out of mint. I ordered a gin and tonic. They served gin and soda.
They couldn't make a cheeseburger or club sandwich as they ran out of it too.
I finally ordered a shrimp cocktail which was mediocre and my friend had carpaccio which was fine.
Beautiful views but we couldn't get out of there fast enough.
Very disappointing as I had been a few years ago and found it to be a romantic atmosphere.

Traveling with my adult daughter and looking for a unique place and we found it perched above the cliffs near Sosua beach. As some suggest, it's a bit faded, but I would counter, that it has so much character this is easy to overlook. Our motto is "If you want a place to be like home, stay home." So it's not the Marriott or such for sure, but here is what we liked. Staff is very friendly. There is a server named Hector who is very fun and outgoing and good. Reception has been helpful. They allowed us a late check out with no issue. The restaurant, as noted by other reviewers, is excellent and the setting just can't be beat. The whole feel is of the Mediterranean coast of Italy and the place was built 14 years ago by an Italian.

Our room has a pool view. One thing that is not evident from reviews or the website is that the beach view rooms are actually on the street side and look towards the Sosua Beach. You need to be on the third floor to really get those good views. However the non beach side is the side that looks to the ocean, over the pool and really is stunning. So you can't go wrong either way.

Our room is a nice size with two double beds. The air con was on on arrival and that was great. We turned it off and the lights as requested when we went out, and found it cooled down quickly on return. The beds are a bit hard as they don't have springs, but just a mattress. There were larger pillows but also a small one in the closet if you like smaller / thinner pillows.

Yes there are a few signs of rust on metal, which is hard to avoid in a sea salt atmosphere, but hardly anything to complain about.

The terrace is superb and find the secret stairs to the rocks below. Overall we'd stay here again for sure. The price is right, the location great prior to our starting our "snorkeling with humpbacks" trip with ROW Adventures. We only stayed the one night as the next six will be on the boat in the Silver Banks.

Embrace Piergiorgio for what it is and you will have a lovely time.

I stayed at piergiorgio for a business trip, but I was struck by how romantic and unique the place was, the kind of place I would have wanted for my honeymoon. It reminds me of greece, but also has a southern plantation style, so maybe greek revival.

You enter through am open white marble piazzo with view of the ocean. There were almost no guests here at the end of May, so there was no wait and the front desk has nothing to do but offer assistance. The rooms are of the oldtime variety with actual keys, wicker furniture, tile floors, and french doors with small wrought iron balconies. They are air conditioned, but nothing fancy. I had some trouble finding a compatible EIectrical outlet for my computer ( bring a 3-prong adapter). But there is free WI-F! The beds are very firm yet surprisingly comfortable. Not luxurious, though, if that's your thing. I did not drink the tap water here, but there were bottled waters in the fridge. There is an old supremely out-of-tune piano in the lobby that someone was playing last night that gave it a Casablanca feel.

The thing that strikes me is the unsurpassed landscape and surroundings (see photos attached.) you could have dinner at a linen covered table in a cupola on the ocean watching the sunset over the caribbean. Attentive service. I cannot speak for the food, as I did not eat here. At sunset you can observe the lights of the yachts anchored nearby.

I cannot say too much about the nightlife here. Reminds me of Key West only a little seedier. But for spectacular sun-filled surroundings in a unique but classic setting, this is the place.

It is cheap-about 60-70 Usd and I don't know why. Perhaps because We are off season (end of may). No one is here!! I had the swimming pool to myself.
