I planned our trip and had the idea since our flight home was the only direct flight we could get that we should stay near the airport. This was a great thing to do as we took a taxi from Gare Du Central to the Holiday Inn. We asked the nice front desk agent for a restaurant recommendation but ate dinner at the restaurant at the hotel which was great. The next morning, we took the shuttle bus to the airport which was complimentary and was perfect for us. We had a nice room and would stay there again.

Even though we were only 7 minutes from the airport, I would HIGHLY recommend getting there 3 hours early if you are flying back to the US to get through security and customs. We luckily made our flight in time due to filling out some online forms when we were waiting in line to see the customs agent. Others did NOT get through in time to make the flight.

This was a perfect place to stay near the airport. Bed was comfortable, staff were friendly and buffet breakfast had good variety. The price of the one bedroom was amazing compared to other hotels in the area and would be the reason we stay again if we have an early/late flight - a separate bedroom is key when travelling with baby.

The hotel was at affordable cost for a last minute reservation. We had a nice sleep hence the 3 star for a hotel that had many complains. The major one was with the AC the unit kept turning off for some reason or other.
Pros:
Clean hotel room, water pressure good, no noise inside room,
Cons:
TV outdated 32 inch, swimming pool water very cold, too much crowd in pool despite of reservation, parking access card not given need to go into reception to open/close, breakfast only provided in grab 2 go boxes, only 1 elevator working, no free coffee/tea, the hotel is under construction the main floor looks awful.

Have stayed at this location before due to proximity to the airport and the complimentary breakfast. Don’t think we will be back. The hotel needs a refresh, few minor things such as a fresh coat of paint for the rooms and more detailed cleaning. The mouldings and paint looked dirty. They also forgot to put keurig pods in our room. When my husband went down in the lobby to get coffee (we thought was complimentary) he was advised that it wasn’t complimentary and the charge was $3 for three coffee. Then he was advised that breakfast wasn’t complimentary and that it was $14.95 per person. Our teenage son was with us so we reluctantly went for breakfast. The cost was $51 for three buffet breakfast. The same breakfast which is complimentary at other Holiday Inn Express locations, in fact the same breakfast we had a few days prior in Quebec City. We were also advised that the shuttle didn’t operate last 9 am. Our flight was at 1:30 but they did give us a credit voucher for a taxi to the airport. Our room was $184 plus $51 for breakfast. Will not be staying here again.

Hi SabrinaM701, Thank you for making the IHG® Hotels and Resorts properties your preferred choice and for the candid feedback. What you described certainly is not the kind of experience we want any of our guests to have. We strive to offer the joy of travel to all, but that did not happen on your visit. I am sorry for the letdown. I've communicated your sentiments with our management team for review and I've also sent you a private message to discuss this further. I hope to get another chance to host your next visit as we promise to make the value of your experience worth it for all the right reasons. Yours in hospitality, Jeraldine R. Case Manager IHG Service

First I would like to apology to Osman at the front desk as he's probably the best of this experience so I'll exclude him of this bad review, no offense Osman.

GAA organization should be ashamed of their work, how the hell have they approved a place like this to charge 375$/night non refundable. 1126$ for three nights exactly. Nothing works fine, phone doesn't work, tv neither, kitchen is like the tv show, not referring to Master chef but to Hell's kitchen with analphabetic in bonus.. Whatever you ask, it will be wrong and bad and cold and at least 1h late.

I can't complain about the room, I probably have the best, apartment with balcony highway view, so it makes easier my stay but the 2 phones are not working so can't call the reception, tv neither, weak or no signal so I get nothing. I commented this to reception but I have been told they have no maintenance guy as the hotel is under construction. I suspect the maintenance guy has been relocated in the kitchen.

What did GAA exactly approved? I mean there's no basic cleaning products in this hotel room except body soap and their useless things like shower cap and coffee whitener... I would have preferred to pay the regular rate and ordered delicious food outside... really, what a joke.

Oh! The 2 employees I speak with as they where delivering meals at the rooms don't speak french at all, are we still in this unilingual province called Quebec? I guess this could be a little frustrating for french canadian returning home.

My in-laws have been in this hotel for 3 nights of quarantine and they treated them in a very bad way. I have been managing hotels myself and when I called the front desk for explanations, I was chocked by how their front of the house manager talked to me.

I paid 1500$ for 3 nights and they gave my in-laws pork meat knowing that they're Muslims, they missed 2 meals knowing that there is no phone in the room so that they can't call anybody, they asked them to leave the 3rd day knowing we paid for 3 nights, they treated my in-law by a lyer because of their miscommunication and lack of management, they overcharged my credit card without my consent, etc.

All this, and after several mails and calls where I tried to talk with their GM, and till today, no one even apologized!

These people have zero background and knowledge of Hospitality and customer service.

I'm frustrated and I don't want anybody else to experience the same.

Shame on Holiday Inn Express and Suites Montreal.

I have been a loyal IHG member for more than 20 years, currently hold diamond elite status which is the highest you can achieve. I have stayed in IHG hotels all over the world and this hotel is by far the worst I’ve ever stayed in. WHY?.

1) Staff are miserable and most have little interest in talking to the customers.
2) There simply is not enough staff.
3) The restaurant/bar closes at 2200.
4) Menu is poor and needs more choice. One scoop of ice cream is not good enough as a sole desert.
4) If you want anything cooked for breakfast, be prepared to wait a minimum of 30 mins even to be acknowledged and receive a menu, the same in the vending for dinner.
5) Upon checking in you must request that your room is serviced/cleaned. Although you are not told of this, in my 7 days stay my room was cleaned twice with towels changed.
6) The car park has no patrol or control, I witnessed people simply parking there cars and then driving of with others in another car.

So in my well traveled opinion… AVOID and choose somewhere else.

This was the absolute worst hotel service experience we have ever had… Hands down!
We arrived in Montreal and booked our hotel, one key feature was the airport transportation feature, less stress and traditionally decent rooms.
We called the hotel 6 times for the shuttle, we waited for over at least 30 min to answer the phone, it gave no context we were waiting just a long infomercial on the hotel… other hotel shuttles were comment on how it was not right, they should have been there already, we even called the reservation line as we didn’t know what else to do, they answered quite quickly… I guess they don’t have your money yet so it’s faster? Finally, the shuttle came after a total of almost an hour waiting for an on demand service, then the driver took a side hustle to drop someone at the Via Rail location for cash, not that it was long, but we waited and were annoyed that we had to wait again.
We get to the hotel, albeit a little early for checking in, we thought we could drop our luggage off and then go out for a bit and get our baby to have a nap in the stroller. The reception was very nice, but very flustered, it was just adding to the experience. Then another guest cut in front of us, and started begging them (as we were checking in and sorting the room out) for an iPhone charger… I had to tell the other client there was charging ports at the benches, but still again we are not important…
They told us it would be 50.00 for an early check in, however I just wanted to drop my bags if a room was not ready… annoyed, they waived it.
My wife wanted to have a shower, so I started it for her, the water started, the hose on the wand was lose I got drenched in water and the clip to hold the shower head was lose and the head fell over, soaking me even more. I changed and got in with my day that much more bitter.
We were told in the evening to be down at 5 and if not we would wait for the next ride, fair enough. The next morning we made our way downstairs and it was the same person was to drive us back to the airport. We were sitting there waiting and it was now past 5 and had a flight to catch. They kept telling us to wait for another room, however they were very specific to us that they would just leave us the night prior if not down by 5 sharp! The driver mad a big point to say I wanted to wait tell them that! What about us who had a flight to catch, listened to the rules and showed up respectfully? We are dog meat? This was evident as the driver would not touch our bags or the baby stroller, was ignoring us and just plain rude. This was the worst hotel experience ever!

It was by far the worst experience in this hotel group. Started with the shuttle driver who was bluntly asking for tip, which was very awkward since we landed from overseas and had no Canadian money. The room was not very clean: there was some rice under the table. The hotel was supposed to set up a fold out couch for us-they did not. When we called the housekeeping they just dropped the pile of bedding on the couch and left-and this is after the hotel charges Service charge. The only highlight of this experience was a front desk girl (Nadinne) who prior our arrival left some cat food for us as we were relocating with two cats and Canada would not allow bring cat food from overseas. This was very kind of her.

Front desk girl was friendly , room seems nice & clean , BUT after travelling for 16 hours & very tired we wanted a quick bite to eat before going to bed , had to wait over 45 mins for a bowl of pasta !! When I said something to the waiter I was told well what do you expect there is only 1 chef in the kitchen !!
There were at least 24 people in the restaurant- I think the management should realise that many guests are using the hotel for a stopover 1 night & are tired & have been travelling a long time & do not want to wait 45 mins to an hour for their food . The couple next to us said they had drunk a bottle of wine whilst waiting for their food. (incidentally they left most of their food)
When our food eventually arrived - the salad consisted of only rocket leaves & 2 baby tomatoes & no dressing (not what was described on the menu or what one would think a side salad should consist of) And the pasta said it was with sausage & mushrooms with a crumble topping ?! no sight of the topping or mushrooms & about two small pieces of sausage. My advice would be avoid the restaurant at the hotel if you possibly can
Oh and they played quite loud music & the lights were very bright !! Just Awful
