Showboat Atlantic City Hotel's prime location is frequently praised by travelers for its proximity to attractions; however, the lodging experience often falls short of expectations. Numerous guests have reported dissatisfaction with room cleanliness, outdated furnishings, and maintenance issues. The hotel's atmosphere is similarly criticized for its dated appearance. While the waterpark is a highlight for some, the overall value is questioned due to high prices and hidden fees. Additionally, guests have called out significant noise disturbances and service inefficiencies, including long waits and unresponsive staff.

My boyfriend and I stayed this past weekend for a quick one night getaway and the room price was affordable compared to other hotels on the boardwalk. Tip: if you are an essential worker, they offer a 15% discount on a room, you just need to show work ID at check in. The hotel was conveniently located on the boardwalk by ocean resort, hard rock and other casinos. The check in process was quick, parking for hotel guests over night is $25 which isn’t bad considering other rates nearby. We went right to the beach before check in and the beach across from the hotel is on the smaller side but it was nice as not as many people were there, easier to distance. We enjoyed our stay overall. Be careful as right now it is dine out or take out only so wait times are long and you have to book in advance for meals nearby. The room was clean and although could use some updating was overall very quality. As someone who is allergic to cats, the room was not smelly or irritating. I would definitely stay again. We also thought it was cool to see an empty gaming floor, and what used to be. Overall, staff was friendly, price was decent and room and property were clean, would stay again.

I was super nervous for the hotel aspect of my trip after reading some of the reviews here. Checked in on Friday at around 2, super busy but not surprising given event. Room was on the 24th floor (after a somewhat nerve wracking elevator ride). We reserved a Jr King suite in the Bourbon tower (chosen based on reviews here). The room was somewhat modern (newer TVs (2), a nicer mini fridge, glass walled shower and huge tub). The room was large separate dining area, with bar seating, living room and desk area with a view. The king bed was separated with sliding pocket doors with another good view and a glass shower separating it from the bathroom. Toilet was separate with another locking door. Overall the room was clean and the view was great, pleasantly pleased.
I had called prior to the stay and inquired about parking so was aware of options and opted for adjoined garage parking for 25$/day. People have complained about not knowing this info prior but it was easy enough to call and figure out. Overall parking was safe, easy and efficient so I can’t complain.
Housekeeping isn’t currently doing routine cleanings which was a problem according to other reviewers but also was indicated prior to check-in. This worked for us as we always forgo the daily cleanings. However, the front desk staff did let us know if at any point we did want or need a cleaning to just call and request one. Others mentioned a lack of towels which we also did not experience (twice a day showering between people given the heat and activities did not pose a problem).
Food options were just downstairs which was a plus, coffee at the gift shop which also had anything else we ended up needing.
Overall, the stay was nice, a bit pricey if anything (but phish surge pricing so understood). The room was a bit worn in minor aspects (crown molding no longer lining up, a broken tile and a broken deadbolt) but overall clean so a win in my book.

We stayed at showboat because we had family in town and it isn’t a casino. We thought it would be the most convenient with small children. I was very disappointed. The lack of customer service at the front desk is most unsettling. I felt with 3 different hosts and all three were unfriendly and indifferent to my questions, needs and concerns. I was given different responses at different times and laughed at when I requested clean towels. Was told I couldn’t get additional pillows when I said there were only 2 pillows on a king size bed. The Orleans tower isn’t clean and smells. Family stayed there I requested the other tower which was better but grossly outdated with large stains on the rugs. Parking is a complete scam. It was 25 for self park per night and 30 for valet, regardless if you take your car out or not. So a 3 night stay will cost you an additional 75-90 for parking plus tax! There is no one to help with luggage, also no one helping with doors and there are no automatic doors. So someone with small children has to wait and rely on strangers to hold the door open if you need a luggage cart. Day of checkout, housekeeping started banging on the door at 8:00am and did so every hour until we left even after telling them we had small children and wouldn’t be checking out until 11:00am because there was a 20 person waiting list for the luggage carts. At checkout the hosts,2 were available, with no line, didn’t acknowledge me, I raised my hand after standing there feeling ignored, because they were discussing there breakfasts, I was waved over, stood there while they continued to discuss what upset their stomachs! So I interrupted and said I was checking out requesting a receipt, wasn’t looked at, said room number, printed and handed it to me. That was it, like I said very impersonal, unfriendly and flat. It isn’t a cheap stay so I feel justified in expecting a better stay.

I was there for a convention. It perfectly fit our needs. For our conference, we were given the space and tools to meet all of our needs. As a result, it created a personal feel as the hotel was not overrun with casino guests so pretty much anyone we encountered was there for our event and Showboat gave us so much space and met our every need with personal attention.

While some rooms seemed due for an update and showed some wear, (I imagine with the loss of the casino and revenue they have not been doing many capital line updates) it was very clean and comfortable. The staff was accommodating: from the warm greeting of the valet and front desk staff to everyone we encountered in between. Our room request options were granted, and any time we needed anything – extra towels, blankets, etc., to the bellhop service on checking out, Showboat staff went above and beyond to be friendly and helpful. We saw COVID protections everywhere – from all employees wearing masks, to signage and sanitizer provided throughout. The rooms were dirt cheap and quiet, we paid less than half what we paid per room per night to attend the same conference at a neighboring hotel a year earlier, and did not have to deal with hallway noise all night long.

Minutes from the action of AC but removed enough that you don’t have to deal with the chaos of AC, if you are looking for a casino hotel in Atlantic City that won’t break the bank, Showboat will fill the bill. I hope we make Showboat our home for years to come!

We booked a two night stay for our daughter’s orientation at Stockton and only stayed one night. Upon arrival, the nice parking garage was not in service, they had a potholed lot for self-parking so we pulled to the loading zone to check in. We Booked Adjoining rooms. When we got there, they had us five floors apart. They changed it back to adjoining and that was where the fun begins.
I had to leave my drivers license to get a luggage cart. There wasn’t anyone checking keycards and no visible security, so anyone off the street could roam the halls.
The elevators we very slow and two were out of service. The entire place smelled of stale smoke and every surface was covered in greasy fingerprints and smears. So much for the supposed covid cleaning protocols. When we got up to our rooms, the door was ajar on one. It smelled like people had just been in there smoking. We called housekeeping who said they would be right up to treat the room, An hour later, a man who looked like he just came out of a seedy bar shows up with a can of glade air freshener, he asks if we want to change rooms. Of course there weren’t adjoining ones available so we said no.
Meanwhile, our 14 yo daughter and her grandmother noticed other issues, dirty sheets, the carpet was disgusting, broken snd missing cabinet doors, etc. In my room, there was blood on the bathroom ceiling and all the handles on drawers were sticky. Our couch had a huge stain (don’t want to speculate) and there were cigarette burns on every surface and huge scorch marks on the carpet. The wallpaper had drips of what looked like strawberry daiquiri.
In both rooms, the lamps had 40watt bulbs, probably so you wouldn’t notice how incredibly dirty everything is.
My husband and I went downstairs and noticed there was no casino, it was a giant arcade. We went to the ACE Bar where there was BBQ sauce on the chairs and the floor was littered with trash. We asked the bartender what happened to the Showboat and she said they lost their casino license and had turned one of the towers into apartments. You can’t charge your food or drinks to your room and there isn’t room service, not that I would want to take a chance on food brought up by the man who brought up the air freshener.
The walls are thin and you can hear doors slamming and people talking all night.
We had called housekeeping again to bring clean linens but they never came.
The shower faucet handle came off in my hand when I turned on the water.
In the morning, we checked out and checked into a different hotel.
Do not recommend.
Would give 0 stars if possible.

This was my husband and I 1st time at this hotel. Katrina was our front desk hotel clerk she welcomed us with a warm smile and helped us with Valet parking because we wanted to pay cash for parking. Katrina made sure we had a decent room and once we entered the room she called and ask us was everything ok in our room and to let her know what we needed if anything. As we was leaving the next morning for check it was Katrina again at the front desk with that warm smile and ask how was our night and she hopes to see us again and we hope to see Katrina again as well because we decided that the Showboat will now be our go to Hotel when we visit A.C. The worst hotel I have stayed at thus far. The rooms have no microwaves unless you are staying in a suite. My sister takes medication, and has to watch everything she eats due to it and brought her own food. We asked the front desk and these two ladies were so mean, unhelpful, unaccommodating!!! It’s 1:30 am, where can we get food at this time, so to use your microwave for 5 minutes, would not hurt you, not like anyone there paid for it out of there pockets.

Room service is just horrible! I have to call multiple times just to get someone to answer. Finally when someone did, we requested towels which took exactly 43 minutes to come, we know because we were waiting to shower.

All of the elevators do not work and there was a line on the first floor almost everyday just to get in the elevator. We stayed for 4 nights! Someone even came to run the elevator and tried to tell us 5 out of the 6 elevators were working and due to people constantly coming that’s why there was line. Sr, give me a break, that was day 3 and I experienced the same each and every single day.

We went to the pool, pretty small by the way. We tried sitting on 3 separate chairs and all the backs where broken off. We had to move chairs around just to be comfortable to sit by the pool.

Oh yea, due to COVID no room service! However, no one can come to take out the garbage? No one can come to pick up the used towels, etc.

Customer service in general is just disgusting here.

Parking is $20-$25 a night (self parking) and valet is $30. I went to the parking garage next door which was $5 for guest and $10 for non-guest. Literally next door!

The hotel does not provide beach chairs for the beach.

Oh yea, our tub is clearly clogged as the water does not go down right away and builds up during shower.

Would never book again! Never!

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. This hotel is the armpit of Atlantic City. The check in process was fine but everything after that was horrible. The hotel needs to be torn down and just rebuilt. Half the elevators do not work, the hallways have never been cleaned and have stains and garbage on them, the room had no towels and no hand soap. There was no safe in the room and although it comes with a fridge they turn it off, so make sure you turn it on. All the wallpaper is peeling and the chairs are so stained you think you'll catch something from just looking at them. The sheets on the bed are so thin that you can actually see the design on the mattress. They are super uncomfortable and they only provide you with 2 mini pillows. There are no restaurants open for breakfast and only 2 serving fast food dinner. The entire place looks unclean. The fitness center is big, but its open to any and everyone including outside visitors and definitely is not cleaned and had no hand sanitizer anywhere to clean your hands after. After all of this when leaving I watched a man allow his small dog to go to the bathroom on the lobby floor (#2 not #1) and just walk away.....stay away at all costs!!!

I was very happy to find a hotel that allows pets and doest charge a ridiculous rate. Showboat has that covered it was 50 dollars extra to bring my dog. They put people with animals on the 21st floor. I was surprised that they had carpet in the room, I was figuring it would be all tile to eliminate animals marking and what not. Much to my surprise they had carpet and the room did not smell at all. The hotel does not have that many amenities but the price was right it was nice and quiet and a good place to stay with my dog while I was in town for a Car Show / Auction.
