The hotel is close to the beach, about three kilometers away from the Old City. For me, it was a nice walk, always along the beach. The hotel is not luxurious but it is nice, mainly because the staff welcome you in a nice way. To have coffee/tea and biscuits (for free) at any time is very agreeable. The only thing I didn’t like so much, is the fact that the breakfast is in a café, about 200 meters away from the hotel; although they serve good food, I would have appreciated more to have it the hotel. Enjoy!

We stayed 8 nights Feb 06 and felt like the Hotel del la mer was more of our own little apartment building than a hotel. Hotel de la Mer provides rooms on 2 levels accessed by marbeled stairs (or elevator) with light airy decor and hardwood floors. We actually stayed in a back room without a sea view, but it was very quiet, roomy with a nice mirrored closet and jet tub/marbeled shower. Rooms are immaculate with windows that open to let in fresh air. Rooms 207 and 206 were being remodeled while we were there. There is a constant attention to improvement. Hotel feels new. Cooked to order breakfasts, served to the room, were so nice! The staff is super friendly and easy to talk with. Spa is lovely with 4-5 massage treatments available! Front desk will book appointments for you and booking last minute evening times weren't a problem. The parking lot separating the hotel from the ocean is actually nice - it assures sea views and doesn't block those gorgeous sunsets best experienced from the roof ! There is an abandoned building across the street but many original buildings in TLV are slowly being restored and the area is extremely safe. No problems walking at night. We researched lots of hotels before booking and visited a few during our time in Tel Aviv. The major chains on the beach (Sheraton, Renaissance, Carlton, Hilton) look a bit dated and unless you get a great deal, may not be worth it. They're also a bit too far North to make for a convenient walk to Dizengoff and Carmel Market. Dizengoff STE Apts. on Dizengoff Sq. looks great from the outside and Cinema Hotel is new & modern inside, but their locations aren't as desireable. You'll want to visit Dizengoff Square, but stay on the beach (de la mer is a block from beach & promenade), especially if you're in Tel Aviv on Shabbat when beach cafes stay open but intown shops and restaurants close. Tel Aviv is compact and you'll be able to walk most of the city from De La Mer(north past the marina, south to Jaffa, and east to Azrieli Towers if it's a nice day and you're not rushed). Opera Towers is a block away, and both Dizengoff Square and Carmel Market are only 5 min. walks. Taxis do have trouble finding it. We eventually asked taxis to let us off at Metroplitan Hotel around the corner and we cut thru a parking lot to Hotel De la Mer. Print out the map from hotel's website to give to your cab driver from the airport. It has arrows directing them to the hotel. This makes a great base to visit Jerusalem (less than an hour away and only $7.50 RT on the bus) yet you can return to fun, warm, Tel Aviv at night. Shalom and enjoy Tel Aviv and the Hotel de la Mer!

We stayed in the De La Mar for one night in February 2006. The rooms are small, with tiny bathrooms, but what it lacks in space, it makes up for in warmth and friendliness. The staff went out if its way to make us feel welcome. The breakfests are made to order and are served at your choice of location in the hotel. There is free coffee/tea/water and biscuits all day. We asked for information on the history of Tel Aviv during the war for independence, and the clerk shared not only this information, but his family history in the holocaust and immigration to Israel. We left the hotel with a deeper understanding of not only Tel Aviv, but Israel itself. I would definitely return to the De La Mar on my next trip to Israel.

This smallish hotel by the beach on HaYarkon Street is a congenial alternative to megahotels. The hotel rooms are small but ample, with comfortable beds and bedding. The bathrooms are very small with showers not baths. We had two rooms; one for parents (king bed), one for our three kids (2 connected twins plus a rollaway). The decor is a light modern (feng shui); the facility itself is clean and nice. The price is very reasonable especially considering the high quality of the hotel.

The price includes breakfast and, although the menu is somewhat limited, the food is good and extremely well presented. Breakfast is in the lobby area where small tables are set up; they will also bring breakfast to your room. Good coffee! There are no exercise facilities, though I believe they have some arrangements with a facility off-site. We did not test the high-speed internet in each room (but note this uses an English-style network plug rather than a US style ethernet plug; I assume they have connectors if you don't have one).

We stayed for a couple of days at each end of our recent trip. The staff was very gracious and helpful, and all speak English.

The hotel is well located about two blocks from the beach and at the beginning of the street where the Dan Hotel and several others are located. (It's near the Opera Tower.) The rooms have small balconies, and one of ours looked out to the sea. There is parking at a (paid) lot across the street. The entrance is on a side street, so a taxi will need some help (though the building is on the corner of HaYarkon Street).

If you enjoy a more intimate hotel with a small European hotel flavor, you'll enjoy this hotel. We did.

I have already been guest of the Hotel de la Mer in the past. I always considered this hotel mediocre, surely not a “Boutique Hotel” as it is advertised, although they expose on the front door of the hotel the logo of Tripadvisor with 4 stars on 5
The hotel is old, the rooms are small and you hear all what your next room is doing, the bathrooms are outdated and service is not particularly efficient because the staff consists in uncaring young people with no experience of how to behave at the reception. Only the breakfast is very good.
I accepted to stay there for the position also if the quality/price ratio was still too expensive 109$ per night for one person in low season. This time, however, my stay has literally been a nightmare.
I arrived in Tel Aviv very late in the night at 3 a.m. I asked the porter to wake me up at 8.30 in the morning. But they forgot. There was a strong noise in my room coming from an air conditioning system which was on all night and I could not sleep. The noise was continuous and unbearable; when I went to inform the reception, the girl Leann, very arrogantly, said : this is “a boutique hotel” located in the center of the town and we couldn't control the noise of the city. The only noise, according to her was the noise of the traffic which, again according to her, was not present in my room in the back. Unfortunately it had nothing to do with the noise of the town or of the traffic.
The second night I had to make the reservation for the next month (March 2014) and for Easter (April 2014) and I asked if there were quieter rooms. I reminded her that I almost did not sleep but she seemed not to care at all about my problem. A guest from Boston who was in the hall of the hotel invites me to visit a website where I could have found lots of hotels at a better price and service. She seemed to agree with me about the poor service they were offering So she sat with me at the computer of the hotel and helped me. In fact with her help I booked for March and April in another hotel in the same street.
I complained again and again, but the girl didn't even come and check. Finally the last night at 3 a.m.I got the night guard Sheni to come and check the room. He was very kind, he came and he couldn't believe the level of noise. He apologized very kindly and tried to do his best. In the morning the director was in the breakfast room. When I asked to talk to him he refused as “he was busy”. and when I came back from my job he was disappeared leaving the hotel in the hands of two girls. I strongly suggest to avoid this hotel which presents a misleading image of a “boutique hotel”.

We agree with most reviewers that the hotel is satisfactory, for its location and price. Me and my daughters stayed there for 5 days.

Unfortunately we have a big problem, that we like to beware other tourists.

Hotel De La Mer doesn't have private safety boxes, but just a common safety box in the lobby (not individual) for all passenger. Having the manager stated that anything kept in the safety box was secure, I put inside an envelope with my money. When I asked for the envelope next morning, I found almost US$600 missing, eventhough the envelope didn't looked tampered. I always write down my expenses during my trips, so I'm quite sure about the money that was missing
I was told by the manager that they have an insurance and that there was going to be an investigation and that the insurance company was going to reimburse us the amount. We gave notice to the police, wasting time and money.
Just in November we receive a statement from the hotel that the insurance company was not going to reimburse our money.

This hotel is the first of many on my three week trip to Israel. My flight was scheduled to arrive late at night so when I finally arrived at the hotel at 1:30am, I was told that there was a problem in my room, a leak, and that they'd rebooked me at the neighbour hotel - Imperial Hotel. The man at reception told me it was of similar quality and the price was the same. I was hardly in a position to ask questions or make sound decisions after travelling for 36 hours straight and only having slept three of those. But, knowing that Hotel de la Mer was decently rated, I trusted them. That was a MASSIVE mistake. I finally got into my new room at Imperial Hotel and it was disgusting. Like, don't touch any surfaces disgusting. I've stayed in sketchy places in all my travels and this definitely fit the list. So while this review isn't for Imperial Hotel - I do want to say that if the same happens to you - beware. Either the people at Hotel de la Mer have no clue that Hotel Imperial is disgusting (which is awful that they sent me there without having checked it out first) or they don't care. Terrible way to start my carefully planned trip.

Worst experience we've ever had. We didn't get a double room as booked but a tiny single room. Conditioner didn't work and nobody wanted to fix it. Bad smell from the bathroom. Very noisy from outside. We had to leave late at night and to drive 2 hours home. The receptionist talked to his manager and promised not to charge us but hey charged us.
Won't recommend to stay at De La Mer ever.

I cannot stress enough what a horrible "hotel" this is. I have stayed in several Hostels for a fraction of the cost that have been SO much nicer!

There´s a construction site wall-to-wall with the hotel as well as Tel Aviv's busiest motorway, so you can imagine the noise.

We were put into a room with a tiny and ancient box of a TV. Of course it was broken. We asked the receptionist to do something, and she tried changing the batteries, fiddled around with the cables, until she finally absconded with the remote promising to find another one but was never seen again.

The air-condition was broken too, and since the room was incredibly small with no ventilation whatsoever, we were close to suffocating. We barely slept all night.
The receptionist told us to open the window, but with both a construction site and a motorway right underneath that was not an option if we wanted to get any kind of sleep at all. We were also woken up by deafening construction noise early in the morning.

The beds were so small we had to sleep like mummies with our arms by our sides not to fall off.

She shower was so tiny that you had to open the door to be able to move at all.

The bathroom was disgusting, and of course with no ventilation there was a good amount of mould growing on the ceiling.

When we repeatedly asked to speak with the manager the next morning we were told he was too busy to speak to us, even though he was sitting on the other side of a window and we could see him surfing the web.
Seriously, I like knocked on the glass but he pretended he could´t hear anything. Busy? He SHOULD be busy doing his job, like dealing with dissatisfied customers!

When we asked to have some recompensation, considering the room was nowhere near worth $110, we were told (after much hassle and back-and-forths) that they would only give us back 10%. Why even bother?

When we told them this was unacceptable and that they could expect a bad review from us they basically laughed in our faces.

Hands down, worst stay ever. Such awful awful people.

These are the telephone numbers I used in May and June 2019: Tel: 972 (3) 5100011, Fax: 972 (3) 5167575 Remember Tel Aviv is SEVEN hours ahead of East Coast time. If it's 12 noon in New York, it's already 7 PM in Tel Aviv. from a landline, dial 011 plus their phone number = 011-972-3-5100011 from a cell phone with international calling, WhatsApp or Skype DIAL +972-3-5100011 May I SUGGEST: install the WhatsAPP app before you travel. You will be able to make FREE international calls to -and- receive calls from anyone who has the app on their phone.

No, I don't think so. I arrived very late and there was someday in reception (it was even a Friday, so it was the Sabbath). I think there's always someone in reception 24/7.
