We stayed at this hotel for our last night and was wonderful, there is a lot of hotels in Colombo but we got this for a good price and cannot say we were disappointed. With 12 restaurants to choose ones who could have every cuisine you could imagine.
Pool: The area was lovely with help getting loungers and a choice of hammocks and other types of chairs. I noticed a shesha bar by the pool but it was not open when we were there. The pool food was amazing we had a tuna sandwich and the tandoori wrap which both were nice. The pool was on the cooler side (than another hotel we stayed) but was fine when swimming The sun did go behind the hotel around 4pm
Room: The room was a good size and well laid (we stayed in a standard room), the mini bar was empty but we used it store our drinks. The room had everything we needed including a hairdryer and ironing (cupboards had lights) We had some trouble with our room but they sent someone straight away who fixed and then it was fine We didn't have a balcony but was on the 6th floor with a good view The bed was huge and so comfortable, fell asleep and didnt wake till the morning

Excellent selection with everything you can imagine and fresh eggs/omelettes, coffee was served quickly and friendly staff
Staff The staff were helpful when needed and the check in was seem-less. I left my wallet at the hotel and they were quick to contact me to arrange collection (in UK so this is still pending)
Location: This hotel was near to the beach but due to the location there was not really anywhere to sunbathe but there are hotel bars you can sit at to see the sea. Walking distance to plenty of places to eat and bars or there are tuk tuks out side. The hotel can also arrange transportation if required and also can arrange airport transfers (for a fee)

We stayed at Cinnamon Grand for more then 10 days during our recent stay in Sri Lanka - family holiday/business. Got a free complementart upgrade to the new wing with sea view which was great and we enjoyed the room was light and in a more modern business design style.
During our stay we enjoyed both swimming pools (the one close to the chinese restaurant the most kids friendly one) and most resturants (the Lagoon and Echo the best ones).
The staff at reception area was helpful at all times but the best was the room service staff! The cleaning in our room was great (our small kids kept messing up the room every single day), the in dining service and laundry service were quick and in good quality (lots of choices for in room dining) and the staff were super friendly to our children, esp Uthayara who kept servicing us during our stay. During our last evening he came by with an extra box of sweets for our kids! Very thoughtful.:)
Last but not least, the location of Cinnmon Grand is great - right at Galle road in the city centre close to the beach and with a walking distance to Galle Face shopping mall. The security was also tight so if you are looking for a great price value hotel this is a good choice (but make sure you get a room in the new wing as other rooms are in old design)!

The suite was spacious and had a nice view. It had all the necessary amenities and it was clean.
Our stay was a stop in our honeymoon and we had informed this at the time of booking. The suite was prepared for a couple on honeymoon with nice presentation of the room with balloons, sparkling drink, flowers and strawberries.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. As soon as we entered the hotel we were taken to the suite and we were offered a quick and personalized check in.
With the suite we booked we got the access to the Executive lounge for breakfast, tea and snacks during the day. The breakfast was a buffet consisted of local and continental items. Which were good in taste.
One thing I mostly admire is the personalized service they offered.
In my opinion, there are some aspects to improve. Specially the time taken to get food delivered to the room (in room dining).
Anyway, I can comfortably recommend this hotel for anyone for comfortable stay.

We stayed here for the last night of our trip. This is a huge hotel and it was very different to all the others we stayed in. We had lunch in the bar which was nice, but breakfast was a stressful experience - it was almost impossible to get a cup of coffee and there were so many people at the buffet. I'd suggest the hotel make tea and coffee self service because there only seemed to be one person serving it on a tray from very small jugs which constantly needed to be refilled. Other than that, our room was nice but the staff were far too attentive - we had three visits in the space of about an hour from housekeeping, including one to check the contents of the minibar literally 5 minutes after we'd arrived. We then also got asked if they could clean our room on the day we were checking out, which was clearly unnecessary. It seems like the hotel is run in quite an inefficient way which is obviously a matter for them but it was quite annoying to have the doorbell constantly ringing with all of these visits!

We've coming for winter holidays (31 December) and we stayed for 9 nights and everything was at a high standards. The room was big and very clean and the cleaning is done 2 time per day and with an amazing ocean view. The towels were changed 2 times per day, the water was recharged morning and evening. Even if the policy of the hotel is to give fruits at the check-in, we've receive fruits all the time spend here and also according with our preferences. Our room had access to executive lounge, a very nice place where we served breakfast, Tea time and Happy hours. At tea time we had everyday different food selection from international and local area, cold and warm and a lot of sweets. At Happy ours beside the good food, cold and warm, alcoholic beverages was served and our recommendation is the local beer Lion. Thank you for greatest services made by Shirath Susiri Fernando.Fernando made for us the best Sri lanka deserts: Ice cream and Akay bowl. Very friendly and kind.

My partner and I attended the dinner buffet at The Courtyard on Friday the 17/07/20.
I called a few days before placing my reservation and inquired as to what kind of stations would be present. The food actually on display was lacking in comparison to what was told to me over the phone. But we would’ve still been happy with what was on offer until we tasted the food. The sushi rolls were poorly assembled and the spicy tuna rolls were a sham as they were containing tinned mackerel, and we were expecting fresh tuna. The other rolls were poorly assembled. However, the young sushi/sashimi chef on duty that night was excellent in terms of service.
The Chinese section was poorly done as the rice was dry, and the meats/vegetables did not accompany well. I requested a bowl of chilli paste and the one I got was incredibly dry with a strong taste of fish. It was very unlike the usual chilli paste at say, Noodles.
In terms of the other stations, the desserts, (we understand have to be limited) but even with the options on display, most of them were items just filled with cream and lacking any flavour.
And FINALLY, the most important and distressing detail of all was the conduct of the other guests. Masks were now where to be seen. If 100 guests were present, perhaps 3 or 4 wore masks while walking around. The whole purpose of food being served to us is defeated when guests are walking around, mask-less, and breathing onto the food and even handling the utensils themselves when no one’s looking. Why even have the utensils out in the first place??
I recently dined at The Kingsbury’s dinner buffet and was pleasantly surprised to find 99% of the guests wearing masks throughout the night when walking around. What made the safety methods even more effective was the addition of the glass/plastic SHIELDS around the food stations. It was impossible to touch the food, utensils or even to breathe on it.
I’d like to mention however, that service at Cinnamon Grand Courtyard was excellent as always. I’ve been a constant patron of the hotel and it’s restaurants as I’m sure records will reflect. But, I was thoroughly disappointed in the food AND the safety measures in place.

The General Manager Mr. Dermot Gale has picked the best Pastry Chef Mr. Kingsley Weerasinghe who has worked i Five Star Hotels before. During the lockdown, chef continuously sent me and my friends and many guests on whatsapp the menus of cakes, savouries, desserts, chocolates, multigraine bread, current bread and fruit buns which made all of us encouraged and promoted customers to come to the Coffee Stop at Cinnamon Grand. After lapse of 2 1/2 months, I came to Cinnamon Grand Colombo I met the Food & Beverage Director Mr. Travis Casather and he welcomed me to the hotel and made me feel homely and comfortable, while they were carrying out the duties according to the Health Ministry instructions. I entered Coffee Stop and met Mr. Delucian who is the Manager of Coffee Stop, so polite and with great manarisem, commented that my absence was felt very much and welcomed me with my favourite delicious Hot Chocolate. Ofcourse the Expreso, Cappacino, Americano and other beverages cannot be compared even to Marriot in London and Carrage House in Las Vegas. I observed the staff who keep up to the rules and regulations so well. The food served to me was very hygeinically secured with care. I also made an observation even the other guests were served in the same manner with cautious and care maintaining Health Department instructions and five star standards. The Hotel looks immaculately clean. Last couple of days I had the priviledge to visit Cinnamon Grand Colombo and patronize few restaurants such as Cheers Pub, Noodles, Tea Lounge, Chutneys, Coffee Stop, etc.. Under the leadership of Mr. Dermot Gale, the staff was doing an excellent job.As a result, the guests are benefitted and extremely happy. Mr. Dermot Gale needs no introduction to the hospitality industry as he is well known for his outstanding great work, going into every detail in every aspect to accomplish things into perfection. There are very many examples of distinguished hoteliers round the world whose carrier has been impacted by Mr. Dermot Gale. He is par excellence and a dedicated General Manager. I wish great success to your esteemed organization and to each and every staff member. WELL DONE!

We stayed a total of 6 nights i n a premium room - 3 nights before a 2 week trip around Sri Lanka and 3 nights after the trip. Both rooms were clean and bright, quiet, very comfortable, particularly the bed, with a view over the beautiful pool. There are 14 restaurants/bars serving a wide range of cuisines, good quality food and excellent service. The Breeze Bar beside the pool is a great place for an evening drink before dinner. All hotel staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and very professional. We were most impressed with Sam, the hotel client relations officer, who discreetly observes all that is happening in the large reception area, sorts out any issues, and takes new guests on an orientation tour of the hotel (very valuable as the complex is so large). Sam recognised and greeted us when we returned after being away for 2 weeks! The hotel has chauffeur driven cars for hire, including city tours, and you can easily get a tuk tuk on the main road outside the hotel. The hotel isn't cheap but given the quality, service and amenities in this hotel, it is outstanding value for money compared with other capital cities (where it is easy to spend more than $A200 a night for a very ordinary room; this is cheaper and far better).

This Pub has allowed smoking once again in the Restaurant area . It was banned post COVID nd since 11th September the management has bowed down to a very minute number of smokers just being greedy to make a quick buck. The pollution free environment was enjoyed by all including the smokers who went to the open area to smoke when needed which was an excellent alternative. Since this Pub has a Kids area too smoking should be banned totally. I do NOT recommend this PUB for any family or the Non smokers as it’s detrimental to the health of the Patrons and of the staff. As per local regulations smoking is not permitted in confined areas.

We had our wedding reception at Cinnamon Grand Colombo on 14/12/2019. Our guests from abroad stayed at the hotel as well. The hotel in general had very friendly staff with good service! The banquets office who took care of our reception at Cinnamon Grand was extremely professional and friendly. Special shout out to Kithmini who did such a great job in trying to accommodate everything we had asked for during this event. Cocktails during the reception had just the right amount of alcohol along with proper garnishes and cocktail glasses and was delicious. The guests seem to really enjoy them - specifically the passion fruit mojito. Food was really tasty too and the chef seemed to take a significant interest in the menu so far as to call me and discuss using a higher quality imported Australian beef for the carvery rather than the dish we had selected which used the local beef. This was despite the overall cost of the buffet being the same. Kithmini also arranged for us to specifically have the chilli garlic crab balls made like their Lagoon restaurant recipe (really really good) and ensured their chef was able to provide this as an action station at the buffet. This was very important to me and clearly was facilitated and the extra mile was taken. I would recommend the banquets office and the beautiful hotel/lobby for anyone who is thinking of having an event there. Thanks very much to Kithmini for helping us during the wedding and making it a great success. Everything was handled in an extremely professional manner including the refund of our deposit after the event.
If we had one suggestion, it would be that Cinnamon Grand take it into their policy to allow food tasting before the event. It is common place in all international hotels and in fact one of our events was at Taj Samudra where food tasting was facilitated and available and we were very pleased by this. This helps wedding couples to decide between different dishes and makes sure that the right menu is selected to both their tastes as well as their guests' tastes on their special day. Couples would want nothing to be amiss and when food is an integral part of the celebration!

Hi there is a great spread, and I bet u would like all of it. Srilankan to indian also varieties of pastries muffins salads .in short simply yummy. Dinner to you would have Italian , the Indian naans, soups ....and the list goes on .try it .u would not regret it at all !!!!!
As far as I know there is no pub crawl facilities at this hotel. But there is a salon there and few salons in the mall near the hotel (walking distance).
There are more places to choose from in the Colombo area.
