Detailed Reviews
As a family of 3 we took a family apartment for 2 nights. In general the impression was good, but they missed to clean/fix some obvious parts of the bathroom (especially the towel holder/radiator). The pillows in one room were terrible, but in the other one completely okay. Still, this is completely acceptable, nothing to influence our stay in a negative way (so far).
It was clear that this is an old building, so we were not expecting complete silence. Unfortunately our apartment (number 3) was just above the kitchen, which got ultra noisy around the closing and opening times. For this 30-45 minutes it was far from relaxing and our 1 year old woke up multiple times. For sure the room can not be moved elsewhere, but I am sure they could make this better.
The breakfast was quite poor, some fresh stuff mixed with 1+ day old ones. Due to COVID situation it is served by someone, so you can not just take it yourself (and this someone dissappeared from time to time for a while). But when we received our omlett once, then we got the cutleries directly from the hand of a cook (or someone from the kitchen), so in this way the restrictions are meaningless. Fruit juice was from the bottom shelf, just like the ham and the salami. Getting anything from the nearby Lidl would be a way better choice... For sure, because of our 1 year old child, it was easier to have a breakfast there, but I recommend to skip it.
In the restaurant the service was more than perfect, the waiter was really polite, respectful and friendly. The meals... half-half. I was really satisfied with my steak, but some other things were just average or below it. Anyway, the restaurant area left a positive impression in me.
At check-out no one asked us anything about our stay (about any positive or negative feedback). Considering the price it is still not a bad place to stay, but with minimal effort they could make it much more better. I would still go back, but not to room number 3 and by skipping the breakfast completely.

Charming hotel in beautiful Interlaken with the most amazing views. The lady on reception was lovely and very helpful. Our room was spacious and warm but unfortunately the beds spoilt our stay, the mattresses were very uncomfortable and the pillows were far too flat. My son stayed on a pull out bed and he could feel the metal under the mattress and woke up several times because he was uncomfortable. It’s a shame because otherwise it’s a lovely hotel.
Switzerland is very expensive to eat out compared to the U.K. The Migros supermarket has a reasonably priced buffet though.

Place with a lot of charm. The hotel itself is a typical old Swiss style house all in wood. Worth a nice picture. The rooms are nice and modern with enough space. Stairs are a bit narrow and there is no lift. The staff is extremely friendly, they take care of their clients. The breakfast is very very good with fresh and local food. Only downside is that it is located on the main street and if you open your window at night (no a/c), it will be very noisy.

Anything wromg with the lack of service, no lift, small rooms etc is compensated by a beautifully picturesque exterior. We stayed in Summer so maybe it is better in winters with heating etc. Easy parking and good restaurant.

We stayed only the one night, after our original plans didn't meet our expectations, and unfortunately they were booked out for two of the three nights of our stay. If we return to the area we will stay here. The rooms are charming with a rustic, chalet feel to the whole place. The rooms we had overlooked the Hauptstrasse and there was a minimal amount of noise, but this is to be expected from such a fantastic location. About five minutes walk in either direction gets you to the main town's stations, or a minutes walk in either direction and you are a the bus top taking you into or out of town, ideal for connecting with the surrounding area. The staff are very friendly, doing their best to help in any way possible. Breakfast was just as good, with a good selection of rolls, meats, cheeses, etc. My parents have stayed in Wilderswil many times and have always been happy with the hotel we have stayed at, but for future visits I will recommend this lovely place. We paid CHF 130 for a double room. We also ate in the restaurant the night we stayed and can vouch that the food matches the quality of the hotel. A very local feel to the restaurant whcih is separate to the breakfast area. Parking is also very good.

The hotel is quite well located in Interlaken, only 5-10 minutes walk to the centre. It does need some modernising, but as long as things are clean, rustic can be charming. Saying that, the price tag doesn't reflect that…
We would be quite satisfied with our stay, if it wasn't for the extremely rude and lazy girl running the breakfast. Who put her in charge should be sorry - as it might take years to build your hotels reputation, but few minutes to ruin it. Here it goes: Breakfast is served until 10am. We arrive at 9.30am with the waitress not giving us more than a glimpse, let alone a good morning welcome. The breakfast bar is very empty, with no more fruit, yogurt, pastries, cheese, eggs etc. So we ask the waitress if she can bring in some more. She responds that 'she needs to check the time'. By the time she returns, is almost 9.40am and she says, that things take time to prepare, and by the time she would bring them out it would be almost 10am and thats when breakfast finishes. My favourite was when she said that there will be certainly no more boiled eggs, as it take 15 minutes to boil the water and than cook the eggs…!! We have told her with have paid £100 for the night and this was unacceptable, so she did end up bringing some very processed looking salami/ham and cheese. But by then we have lost appetite. We will not be returning and after our experience can't recommend it to you either.

Reasonably clean hotel as we found, a decent breakfast and a welcoming owner. That said our room was bug infested. We had to go to the doctor the day we left Hirschen who confirmed bed bug bites. His colleague confirmed same as a second opinion. Suggests lack of checks of bedding by hotel staff. we loved Switzerland but the stay at Hirschen (at CHF 160 per night) made our holiday into a rather itchy holiday.
Hotel was terribly noisy on a Saturday night as well!

Stayed here with my partner and my parents at Easter this year and I have to say that it was a most enjoyable stay. The Hotel is ideally situated in Interlaken with bus routes right on its doorstep making it very easy to get to and from the rail station and is only 10 minutes walk from Interlaken Ost and West. Interlaken is suitably up-market but not too extravagant and is a great base in order to explore the Alpine region.
The Hirschen is comfortable and welcoming. Beds are just about right, rooms are warm and equipped sufficiently. Some rooms are better than others but it looks as if they are slowly updating each and every one of them.
Breakfast was continental and there was plenty to choose from. The hotel has a restaurant for evening meals and the quality of the food is very good, expect to eat local food though so no moaning that it doesn't do British food !!!!!
Staff were pleasant and attentive so no complaints at all. thank you for a wonderful stay.

We tried two rooms at this hotel - the first room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke and the bathroom was leaking sewage. Unfortunately the second room also had a sewage leak. A staff member admitted to us that the building had sewage problems and was being shut down for renovations soon to fix the plumbing. I could barely stand-up in the shower and I'm only 5.5ft. Breakfast selection was limited. We asked a staff member if there were any laundromats nearby, and were told there wasn't and to use their washing facilities (very over-priced) - we found out from a different hotel that there is actually a laundromat two minutes down the road. The rooms and bathrooms were outdated.
The only thing I liked about this hotel was the outside appearance and the view from our first room. The first staff member who checked us in and helped us change rooms was also very helpful, honest and accommodating.
The excuses from the hotel for the problems we experienced were that it was old and "the cheapest hotel in Interlaken." We then stayed in another hotel that was older (and far superior) and found hotels that were cheaper (and far nicer).
We left this hotel after only one night, with me in tears. I would not recommend it to anyone.

After spending some time on Trip Advisor I chose the Hirschen, it seemed a good mix of character, peaceful location, and price. It's around a 15-20min walk from both Interlaken stations.
Staff? Hello? No, arrive in the morning or evening, and you'll be presented with an empty reception. Look downstairs where the restaurant is, and you'll find 1 person running everything. This was the case on each of the 4 days I was here. Checking in required 30mins waiting and 2 visits to the restaurant to remind the girl. Checking out was identical, although I learned my lesson and didn't sit patiently waiting.
My room was no.7 at the top of the 1st staircase, so my request for a quiet room with a view was missed completely, it was very noisy due to the 'character' of the hotel (floorboards/doors slamming), the balcony features a long sloping roof that extends below the balcony itself, so no view can be seen at all. The room was small, the bed rock hard and the bathroom hardly big enough for 1 person. Not good. A tiny TV screen too far away to watch left me with sore eyes.....
At Breakfast I'm sure I was invisible, as I wasn't acknowledged once in 2 mornings I ate there, whilst others seemed to get offers of coffee and conversation. Definitely something wrong with that picture.
For these reasons, I checked out 1 day early. This was also a joke as I needed to wait for the manager, and once she had finished swearing in German at her computer, I was finally on my way. Needless to say, never to return.
In my well travelled opinion, an awfully run hotel.
