Great experience from start to end. Everybody at the hostel was very friendly and helpful, the rooms and common areas were always clean and the location is exceptional (most of the attractions in Barcelona were a couple of blocks away and I walked everywhere, except from a day when I rented a skateboard at the hostel. And, in case you need to buy anything, there is a tiny supermarket next door).
Additionally, you can get a really nice breakfast for 3.5 EUR in the morning, and there are also cooking parties and fun activities you can join every night.

Best hostel I've been to, hands down.

Friendly helpful staff

Activities + dinner in the evening are great fun and a very easy way to make friends

Location is optimal for many of the popular activities

Hostel was always spotless

Kitchen + fridges are massive

Plus so much more

The detail and care that was put into this hostel is very evident. Be it the Elvis Presley silhouettes as you ride the elevator up to the pool or each floor themed after a different rock club, Sant Jordi Rock Palace amazed me day after day.

I extended my stay twice because I wasn't ready to leave.

A must for rock n roll lovers and anyone traveling to Barcelona

TL;DR

Sant Jordi Rock Palace Rocks!!

I mostly enjoyed this hostel but it also didn't hugely impress me. The rock n roll theme was cool, and I liked the murals, light up lobby floor, Elvis elevator, and stained glass lounge room. The rooftop pool was a big bonus in the summer heat to cool down, and we met the most people up there. Rooms were fine - six bed dorm had quite a lot of space, big lockers (could fit my whole suitcase), personal outlets/lights, and a balcony. Location was also great, very close to the Gaudi sites and only about a half hour walk to the Gothic Quarter as well. Shared bathrooms could have been kept up better - I feel like at least one was always shut down or missing toilet paper etc. I think what was lacking for me was the vibe. We did the club night out one night, but nobody was really socializing beforehand and so we didn't feel like we particularly met anybody at the absolutely packed (and expensive) bar and club we went to. The problem might also be that I'm in my 30s and a lot of the guests seemed like early 20s, but I don't know. It was a good stay, but I think I would look elsewhere if I were back in Barcelona.

This is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in all around the world, and I stay in at least 4 every year! The reason it's been given just 4 out of 5 is because of some issues I personally had that need addressing. If we start with the negatives first as there are only a few. The breakfast start time needs to be earlier as if you are venturing out in this wonderful city all day, not starting out until 09:30 because breakfast doesn't start until 08:30 is simply too late! In the dorm where I stayed we had 12 bunks but only 2 showers and 1 toilet between the lot of us, and there was no curtain for privacy to wrap around your bed. Also, the toilet light remained on all the time as there is no switch on the wall which was annoying as my bed was next to it and had no curtain to block out the light. The operation of the lights in the room is rather strange, the hostel has a low energy policy and switches the lights off in the dorms at 11pm at the reception...there's no switches in the rooms. This was also annoying as if you wished to go to bed early (as I did) the lights remained on and I couldn't get to sleep. Finally, on my final night I went to bed early as I had a very early flight the next morning but again couldn't sleep because there was a party night in operation downstairs and I was right above it all. I'm no killjoy and agree everyone should have a great time on holiday, but the music was simply deafening and didn't need to be as loud as it was. The hostel has an obligation to cater for all it's guests including the ones not attending the party or want an early night.
In the dorm we had a small rooftop balcony which had a washing line on it but most of the time this was locked. I don't see the point of having this facility if you can't actually access it?
OK they're the issues I had, now for the good bits...
The hostel has very friendly staff always willing to help you out (big shout out to Nicola), and is only a short walk to the nearest metro station. It has many facilities to enjoy such as activities, evening meals, party nights, a rooftop which also has a plunge pool on it. There is a large dining area and kitchen where you can make your own food along with 3 large fridges to store your goods. The price per night is very reasonable given the facilities provided and this includes an all you can eat breakfast comprising of toast, ham, different croissants, different cereals, different juices, tea and coffee.
Throughout the hostel and in the dorms there is AC, and in the dorms too you'll get a large locker, night light and socket next to your bed.

Thank you very much for your comment, we are delighted to hear that you had great attention from the staff and were pleased with the facilities. Regarding the lighting system, to prevent any distracted guest from turning on the main lights in the early morning and waking everyone up, the lights are turned off at night. As for the bathroom, you can find more of them on each floor. Thank you for all your suggestions, we take them very much into account. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Best regards, the SJH team

Rooms and baths were very clean, shower water could be turned up to be properly hot, and staff (especially Daves and Macarena) was great! Rooftop areas & ground-level courtyard were lovely, especially for a break from walking during the hottest times of day. The hostel dinners are €6 for a fairly nutritious/balanced meal, which is kind of the cheapest you’ll get in Barcelona. They also organize a bar/club crawl every night— my boyfriend and I went to one and had the best time & got to befriend some other hostel guests, which was very sweet. 100% would stay again— thank you Sant Jordi <3

I can only recommend this hostel. It’s located in the barrio gotico so every mayor sight is in walking distance, also there is a mini market right next to it if you want to grab a water or something. The hostel is also very social they have a small pool on the rooftop and they offer cheap dinner deals every day (thanks Juan for cooking so good) and take you to different bars every night. The hostel is also clean and they take care of the Corona regulations (closing half of the beds in the rooms). The reception staff is also very friendly especially Diego who recommend places and was always up for a chat.

Thank you very much for the great stay !

Sant Jordi Rock Palace have a great location and I think its one of the cleanest hostels I have ever stayed at.
Amazing roof top with a dipping pool – perfect for the afternoon!
In the evening the hostel offered a really good meal including a beer at 7 Euro. Dinner is served in the guest kitchen, so a really good way to socialize if you are a solo traveler
Staff was super nice and helpful.
Overall a really good stay in and the hostel has every you need for the perfect stay in Barcelona

Sant jordi hostel was a very good place to stay for a short trip to Barcelona. The staff were friendly, we arrived very late at night and invited us right away to the pub crawl that was going to happen later on that night. The hostel is in an old building so each of the rooms were very cool and very clean. I would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in Barcelona for a short stay as it is close to shops, restaurants and a short walk to a lot of attractions.

Shared bathrooms were very clean and had multiple showers to use. Enough space for people from different parties to enter/exit the bathroom. Very good stay.

All the rooms are different, you have to keep that in mind. In our room there was no floor drain in the toilet, only in the shower compartment, so the toilet floor was always wet from shower spillage. The room was spacious, though. Room 404 is the most spacious one in the whole hostel.

The hostel closes the doors to all the terrace areas at 9pm because of the neighbours. So there's really no place to sit and relax after 9pm if you don't enjoy the chilly and overpowerful air conditioning in common areas and rooms.

The rock theme is really nice and the location is superb. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The lights go off in the rooms at 11 pm so that partying people won't bother you when they arrive late. On some nights I was alone and went to bed earlier than 11 pm and would have wanted to control the light myself, but I slept pretty well anyways. I don't mind the partying, one should not choose a hostel if partying people bother you.

Now, the only thing I felt was really a huge minus was the pool. There was some kind of a problem with the water, the pool was closed almost during my whole stay of 6 nights. The pool was one of the reasons why I chose this particular hostel. Would have been a 4,5 out of 5 rating otherwise.

Dear H0llliem, we are so happy to read that your experience was quite good with us in Barcelona. Our staff will welcome you at any time, and our animation team will make sure you don't have a moment of boredom inside the hostel :) We are glad to know that you enjoyed our amazing building, if you're interested in architecture, we'll tell you our building it's an original "novecentism"styled building, from the beggining of the 21st century. We worked so hard to mantain it's essence but at the same time bring you all themodern facilities that characterize us. If you liked this one, you should visit our hostel in Lisbon! You'll be amazed! Cheers!
