This hotel is ideally situated for everthing - is very comfortable and quiet with really helpful, pleasant staff. The breakfast was superb and the selection mammoth, all really fresh produce and well presented. It's only 4-5 minutes from the bus from the airport. Can recommend bar Original H, near the Arts Centre for good food at reasonable cost and pleasant surroundings, the restaurant is at the rear of the bar. This hotel gave excellent value for moneyand really made our visit an enjoyable one.

A group of 4 couples stayed in the Splendid to celebrate a couple of our 40th Birthdays. We found it to be very clean and the staff helpful. My wife and I had a Junior Suite which was excellent for us meeting together as a group. Bathrooms were particularly "splendid". Mini bar prices were reasonable. It took us about 10 minutes walk to the top of the Ramblas/Catalunya Square via main streets. I would not advise using side streets late at night but stick to main routes where we felt totally safe. There were some restaurants nearby, we ate in a Chinese which was very good. There is a 24 hr supermarket on same street as hotel (2 mins walk). All in all a great base at reasonable cost and I would recommend it to others.

Acta Splendid Hotel has a great location, just few steps away from the Universiteat metro station. It is also in the walking distance from the La Rambla or Catalunya Square. Very near the hotel are some great bakery's where you can buy really tasty breakfast if you are not using the hotel's breakfast option. Location is a real advantage of this place.

We lived in the room No. 315 which is the corner room on the 3rd floor (two windows with the street view). Room and the bathroom were very clean and nothing really to complain about. The hotel has a nicely working complimentary wifi with pretty decent internet connection.

The front desk stuff was very friendly and helpful. Everyone spoke fluent English so there was none language barrier. Big plus for the service!

If we will ever travel to Barcelona again, Acta Splendid Hotel will be our first choice!

There are a number of pros and cons associated with this hotel. I'll be as fair and as accurate as I can possibly be.

THE POSITIVES: the hotel has a great central location. It's within walking distance to Las Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter and the Marina. There is an underground train station just around the corner for getting everywhere else in the city.

The hotel itself is well presented, clean and tidy. Room service happened every morning while we were there. The breakfast (extra charge) is pretty good too.

THE NEGATIVES: The walls of the rooms are like paper! You can hear a lot of what is going on in the room next to you. If you get a room to the front of the building be aware that it can be quite noisy a lot of the time, which may affect your sleep as was the case of a couple who were with us. Above the hotel is private apartments and while we were there the apartments were having work done. The work started at the crack of dawn and had us up from 8am!

Some of the staff are not very friendly, although others were more than happy to help us if we had any requests. When we were checking out we had a rude woman who accused us of using the phone and the mini-bar. None of us did either of those things.

Overall - for the price the hotel is pretty decent but don't be expecting anything other than basic!

A shockingly rude manager that spoiled anything positive about the hotel. I was checking out of the hotel and was witness to the rudest manager and her confrontation with other guests that appeared to be overcharged on their bill. The women were trying to be reasonable and the manager was the coldest, rudest hotel manager that I have ever encountered in all my hotel stays around the world.
Find a different hotel would be my recommendation.

I would never again stay at the Hotel Apsis Splendid or any of their other hotels. The hotel manager was unreasonable and unkind. We were charged for an extra room because of a confusing error on their website. We were never even offered the key to the room that we were charged for! We didn't even realized we were paying for the room or that the room was even booked under our name, until the next day when the deskman told us. He said this happens frequently and not to worry about it. However the following day the manager insisted we pay for the room and threatened to call the police if we didn't pay. Since we already dealt with the "police" when our carry-on luggage was stolen upon arrival...we knew it was a hopeless case. I called their main office, and was told someone would get right back to me...I am still waiting...haha!

With all the crime, on the streets and otherwise, maybe when there aren't so many tourists going to Barcelona, they will get the message?

Just returned from our stay at the Apsis Splendid. Everything positive that has been said previously about this hotel is correct. It is a geat price for a good hotel with a perfect location.

The hotel is a few minutes walk from the Ramblas in a nice quiet street. It is perfect to get the Aerobus to as only 2 minutes from the stop at Universitat. The hotel staff are excellent and very helpful.

The breakfast was included in the price and very good too. Very safe location and the rooms are what you would expect from this very good 3 star hotel. If it had a few more frills it could pass as a 4 star easily. Nonetheless, an excellent city hotel.

We travel extensively, and this hotel does what it says on the tin. Free internet access a winner too. Don't hesitate, book it today.

We stayed in this hotel last weekend and I have to say it was a great experience. It is a small hotel located about 10 minutes walk from La Ramblas which was perfect. The room was small but spotlessly clean and the free toiletries in the bathrooms are a lovely touch. Our room was also cleaned every day while we were there. The thing that made this hotel that little bit extra special were the guys on reception - they could not have been more friendly or helpful. Whether it was recommending traditional tapas restaurants or giving us directions, they went out of their way to be helpful and polite which came in handy as we were first time visitiors to the city who needed guidance to find our way around.
The breakfast is also very good, they have most things you could want and its a buffet so you can have as much as you want. You can also have breakfast brought to your room.
Overall I was extremely pleased with this hotel. The location is excellent, you are close to everything but also away from the hustle and bustle of the Ramblas. I got excellent rates directly from the hotel's website so I would recommend that you do this.
If you are looking for luxury then this might not suit you but if you want a reasonably priced, comfortable and spotlessly clean hotel in a central location then I would highly recommend Apsis Splendid!.

We have just come back from spending 3 nights at this hotel. We booked it after reading some of the reviews here. If you're looking for cleanliness, efficiency and city centre location, then it meets all three requirements. Initially, I was apprehensive about the staff after reading some comments. We had no problems. My only qualm was that we booked a double room and got two singles pushed together, when I requested a room change to meet our booking requirements, the only one available was room 101 (ominous) which had a 4 foot bed and I suspect is used as a default room to deter guests from changing rooms. Found we could hear other guests in adjoining rooms very clearly.

Barcelona, Spain
dear 2017vacationermom , From Barcelona Sants to the hotel there is no shuttle but you have different choices to get the hotel. One by taxi , it's gonna cost you around 20€ (depends on how many luggage you carry) ohter one by subway you need to take the Line3 (green color) to Plaza España and then over ther switch the line to Line2 (red color) to plaza universidad (5 min walking distance to the hotel). In some cities in Spain Uber is allowed, in Barcelona don't at the moment. The hotel just get renovated in most of our rooms, a few ones remain like the old pictures. To differentiate them you will see that you can book standard room (old ones) and superior rooms ( renovated). Kind Regards
