I had a two week trip where I stayed at 5 hostels and this was by far the best one. The staff here is welcoming and warm, Eugenio, Tulio, literally everyone. They make free dinner nightly and unlike other hostels with free dinner it's not just a vat of bland pasta it's actually good :). There are daily tours and nightly pub crawls which many other hostels charge 10-15 euro for that are free here. The location is about a 30 minute walk or quick muni ride to the city center but far less tourists and pickpockets which was a huge plus. There is a cheap grocery store right around the corner and the kitchen is full of utensils to use. Free coffee and tea available and they'll wash and dry your laundry for 7 euro. They're in the process of updating the rooms, I got one of the new ones, amazing little pods with a privacy screen that pulls down. Amazing stay overall and I'll definitely be back!

They spoke to us in an extremely friendly manner. Having welcomed us with an email with tips and directions(simple but very reliable) before even touching down in Barcelona, it gave us a feeling that we've made the right decision. The room we stayed in was for 4. Clean and comfy. It is located near the metros, if you take the T10 you'd be able to save a bunch and still travel around relatively simply. If you're traveling with friends and on a budget, this is the PERFECT place. Might not be as good for family who requires complete silence but definitely feels homely. Oh, not to mention they have 4 usable computers for everyone and also FREE dinners every night which were good for meeting new friends from all around the world. We've met Carlos, Gonzalez and Laia. They were helpful in explaining the places to go in Barcelona. Their bfasts are great value for money and just 2.5Euros. We'll be coming back!! :):)

My friend and I visited this hostel during low season late October. We had booked two beds in the four-bed room. When arriving in the evening, we found out that they had placed us in separate rooms. The staff member checked on our booking in the morning, found out we could not be placed in the same room, and decided to not inform us about this matter. According to her, it was not her job to inform us about such matters, and she also said it was our fault because we did not proactively contact the hostel to check on our reservation. We were shocked to hear this, and consider that absolutely abnormal. With experience of two months travelling and sleeping in hostels, we never had to contact a hostel to check whether our reservation was alright!
Being just two young girls traveling together, we actually felt uncomfortable being placed alone in rooms with other men. She really could not understand why we felt uncomfortable and why we wished to know this earlier. Instead of understanding us, she said it was our own fault, talking in a rather unfriendly way to us. Informing guests about such matters is maybe not obligatory, but doing it means caring about guests and it shows hospitality. The staff member discussed this matter with her manager, they decided to make no compromises for us. In the end we had to upgrade to a two-bed room that was free anyway, but we had to pay the price ourselves.
About the hostel: the interior is basic and cold, the bed was very short (I am 1.74 and my feet stuck out) and had a hole, and the walls were thin so we could overhear our neighbors. The common room was a bit cold, and other travelers did not interact with each other so it was hard to meet new people. Weirdly enough we only saw men in the hostel. The hostel is nearby the train station (15 min walk), and about 30 min from city center by public transport. There is actually nothing to do in this neighborhood, just some restaurants. Sightseeing or partying is mostly in city center.
We've particularly chosen this hostel because of the coziness and hospitality most small hostels tend to have. However, just the lack of this hospitality was exactly the problem in our opinion. We can understand boundaries of a small hostel, but we cannot understand the way they dealt with the situation, handling in a way that is no more than the bare minimum. This hostel may be a nice fit if you want to stay in a place close to the train station and don’t care about hospitality or comfy beds. Otherwise, if you do care about above matters, I would advise another hostel as there are plenty of hostels in Barcelona with better hospitality, nicer surroundings and cozier common rooms where you can easily meet others.

This is a hostel only for 18-45 years old. I didn't know that and had to go check in late because of flight time and find another hostel again. I'd like to announce this fact more clearly. Thank you for helping me find another hotel.

Initially I made a reservation for three nights at this hostel. The day I was set to arrive my flight for. Italy was delayed, so I did not arrive at the airport in Barcelona until midnight. Earlier that day I sent an e-mail to the staff explaining my delay and asking if it would be okay to change the reservation (since I was arriving so late I decided to stay near the airport that night). I received a reply explaining that things were fine and that they would hold my reservation. What they failed to tell me was that I would still be charged for the night that I didn't stay there, even though it was out of my control that my flight was late. Had I known that, I probably would have just went to the hostel in the middle of the night instead of booking a hotel room near the airport.

After arriving at the hostel the next day, I was shown to my room which was completely trashed. In fact, my bed was completely disheveled and the staff member had no idea why. I had to wait for twenty minutes while he stripped and remade the bed. It should also be noted that I've stayed at several hostels, so I do not harbor any unrealistic expectations. Sadly, this hostel did not meet any of my expectations. The guests in my room has no respect for anyone else's personal property and I had to constantly move their stuff out of the way in order to clear a walking path for myself. Also, there are apparently no quiet hours at this hostel. During the second night I stayed there, I awoke to someone screaming outside in the hallway around 3:00 in the morning. It happened again several times that night and the person/people responsible were never made to stop.

Upon checking out, I was treated in a very disrespectful manner by a lady working the desk - perhaps the owner or a manager. I was on the second level packing up my bag when she started talking from the level below. There was no way for me to know that she was taking to me since were on different levels and she didn't call my name. In a rude tone, she then raises her voice to me and asks if I'm deaf. She continued to be rude to me throughout the rest of our conversation, even though I did nothing to incite such a reaction. I'm a very positive, enthusiastic person. Check out my other reviews and you will see that I rarely give a negative review, so obviously something went wrong here. I always make it a point to great others with kindness, so I feel that this woman's reaction was completely unprofessional and unwarranted.

In all, I absolutely would not recommend this place. If I know of anyone traveling to Barcelona, I will advise them to avoid this hostel at all costs. I feel that they took advantage of my situation to make extra money. I also feel that the woman working the front desk in the morning acted in a completely unprofessional manner. Perhaps one day I will return to Barcelona. If I do, I hope that my experience will reflect a more ethical and professional approach to the accommodation business.

The staff is unreal. Great people and friends. The FREE dinners they make each night are fantastic. The beds are very comfortable and big Good chill environment and great location within the city. Near Camp Nou and just a metro stop to the main areas, but this area is a bit more relaxed, and cheap. Wifi works great on all the floors and there is a convenient elevator for those lazies out there. The rooftop terrace is amazing for a drink or a smoke, or just enjoy the sun. Good music on either the terrace or the basement with billiards, play station, and chill area. A 'must-stay' place in Barcelona, and even all of Spain for that matter. Clean hostel, comfortable and big beds, everything you need and want. Very highly recommend this hostel. Best spot in world.

My friends and I went to Barcelona this past weekend and made the mistake of staying here. When we checked in well after check in time we were informed that our room was not cleaned but that we could put our luggage in the lockers. When we returned that night, we found a housekeeper sleeping in our room, mascara tube under the bed, and glass in a bed from a shattered lamp. When we informed the front desk they told us that none of this should happen again. Then we realized the wifi password was not working. Reception told us to try to connect to a free wifi from around them. The wifi did not work once for us when we were there for three days. The free dinner was not really a dinner. It was a small serving of mashed potatoes and part of a bell pepper. Additionally, we witnessed the cook drop something on the floor and not wash it before cutting it up. Do not stay here at all.

This place was amazing. The staff are the nicest people ever and will happily come out and chill or take you to some cool parts of Barcelona that not many people go to. free dinner every night is amazing and you just sit at a big table and talk about your travels and make plans with the other guests for the following morning or the night. Hostel One Sants is an incredible hostel for youth travelers. The free dinners insist on conversation between the guests, the staff is very helpful and on one night, even led us all out to the city center for a night at a bar. The other people staying in the hostel were brilliant as well. If you want great conversations, good food, and sublime memories, I recommend Hostel One.
