Amfores staff were excellent, the room was scrupulously clean and the bed comfortable. The one thing that shot the whole thing in the foot was the toilet. At 192 cm, I could hardly sit down to do my business. My knees touched the wall. Fortunately I'm not obese or If id got in there they would have needed a crane to get me out.
However as a place to see the city from it was excellent. probably the best location we had in our trip this year.

This is what happens when hipster ideas of "what's cool" meet get rich quick schemes and trump real life practicality. While the decor and "quirkiness" initially seem cool, the poor experience with this hotel began right away. You need to download and register an app as there are NO KEYS. The app is glitchy, can't be registered with your email for some reason and is frustrating to set up. If you don't have TXT data in-country, you're screwed. Even the staff seemed fed up with it. Then unbelievably, THE STAFF LEAVE at 9PM and there is no support available or anyone on the premises until at least 8AM. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE for any hotel and an obvious strategy to save wages at the expense of the guest. We ran into a distraught women who arrived after hours and she wasn't even told what room she was supposed to be accessing with the app. Poor communication overall. Also, It was very expensive for a minimalist experience. No coffee maker, one plastic glass, a tiny room, a plywood door on the bathroom, no luggage rack, cheap finishings, no towel racks, etc. Like had the person who designed this every actually stayed in a hotel? Everything is done on the cheap in this place. While the sheets were clean, the consumer-grade Ikea bed is NOT COMFORTABLE and moves and makes noises if you do ;) The air conditioner would blow air around weakly but would not cool or dehumidify so the place felt damp all the time and the air quality sucked. Enhancing this, you get to see and hear your partner going to the toilet one meter away through the giant crack in the plywood door (seriously it's like something from a rustic camping experience in the Arctic), not something you'd pay 230+Euros for. You pretty quickly realize that the Àmfores Boutique Guest House is all marketing ploy and no content. It's the "avocado toast of hotels" but made with Wonderbread and mass produced avocado spread.

Found this place on booking.com and couldn’t argue with the price. We just wanted a base for exploring the city and it fitted that perfectly. There was no air con in the rooms however when we arrived there was a fan so we put that to good use.
The staff were great and let us check in early on the first day which was fab.
If you’re looking for a luxury stay then this isn’t for you but if you want a cosy base in a great location and very reasonably priced then this is a great place!

I booked the place for 7 nights in August. The first night upon returning to the room at 12am, the air conditioner (very hot summer) and the TV didn't work, so I requested to be fixed but they said it could not be fixed the same day, so offered me a different room. I moved my stuffs and went out to the city. Upon returning at night, the welcome candy that was left on the bed was covered with aunts as the candy was unwrapped.
At 3am in the morning, the guest from the other room starts smoking in the patio next to my room which the hotel has a no smoking policy in the hotel except if you are staying the top floor which I was not. I notified the reception of the smoking the next day and they said they will be more aware of it. The next night, it happened again, and I again notified the reception, and this time I was told that the guest didn't smoke but then I showed the ashes from the cigarette for proof. They just didn't say anything at that time nor would remedy it.
The fourth night, there was party listening to loud music and making loud noises above my balcony from 3:30am to 5am. So I decided to checkout one day earlier and ask for a one night refund and perhaps some compensation for previous nights. I had to write emails to the manager, Gosia Knapczyk, 3 times, and spoke on the phone twice. The end result was that they don't provide any sort of compensation nor cancellation due to any circumstances so basically they just told me better luck next time.
The manager of the hotel, Gosia Knapczyk, was very rude, no sympathy nor any type of customer service from her part.

I just wanted to add the following: - regarding your issues you always were attended by our reception team which made all the best to resolve your issues with other guests. - You checked out earlier although you were informed that you will be charged the cancellation fee according to your reservation policy, and also it was confirmed to you by booking.com. - During your stay several times you broke the hotel security rules, jumping through your room window into the hotel private area full of different machines exposing yourself and other guest to a danger. - Finally, we were spoking by the phone and at no time I was rude, however I had yo explain you the seriousnes of those situations we experienced by your side. The security of all our guests is the number one priority for us!!! I hope I could clarify you all those aspects you mentioned in your review! Best regards!

Very Expensive and lousy service. The booking was for around 300 € but when I paid, it S closer to 400€ for 1 night and 2 people. Very bad service. Not friendly at all. So many better places to stay in lovely Barcelona.

This hotel was a disaster. The staff were not particularly helpful and the rooms never felt clean. The rooms are super cramped with no space to leave luggage, counter to get ready, or place to sit. The halls, stairwells, and common spaces are very echoey and the walls were thin so we were kept up at night by doors slamming and people talking. I would not recommend this place to anyone in the near future. There are many other similarly located hotels with proper facilities nearby.

At first, when my husband booked this hotel, I was unsure if it was a good idea to stay at a hotel with such low rating. But after we got there we were nicely surprised how nice, cozy and clean in was. Everything was online, so we didn't even have to deal with the personnel, who were btw very nice and friendly. The room was small, but come on, it's Barcelona, all you need as clean bathroom and shower and a bed to sleep, because there's no point to stay at the hotel room in such amazing and lively city. The location of hotel is amazing. 5 min walk to the main square (where the pigeons are) and the most touristic boulevard. The area is safe and active, with bunch of nice and delicious restaurants around. Highly recommended!

Our group of 14 friends spent two nights at the Amfores prior to boarding our cruise ship. All of us loved the location, and the hotel was clean, with great service. Catarina especially gave us service above and beyond our expectations, and we would stay there again if we have the chance. Rooms are small but adequate and given the location and price we were all happy with the stay overall.

We enjoyed our 2 nights at this Barcelona hotel! I rated it a very good because we booked it knowing what we were getting by reading the other tripadvisor reviews..so there were no surprises. Yes, it's small (but so are the other places we've stayed in Europe on our trip) and the breakfast wasn't that big (but knew that too)...but other aspects made up for these things!
The location was amazing, the rooftop terrace was nice, the staff was very helpful everytime we needed them and I loved the cool water in the reception area! It was great after a long day of sightseeing :) The clear bathroom door was a little weird...but we knew that going in so it was not a surprise. The only real negative was the airflow in our room...we opened our window at night, but loud people outside in the courtyard area were a little disruptive.
Through all the good and a few minor things...I would have no hesitation staying in this quaint, modern hotel again in the middle of Barcelona!
