Hotel REC Barcelona is located in the neighborhood of Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera, one of the most historic neighborhoods of Barcelona, which, together with the neighborhoods of El Raval, El Gòtic and La Barceloneta, make up the Ciutat Vella District. The whole area, even today, maintains its medieval structure, with narrow, twisted and intertwined streets and intense commercial activity. Hotel REC offers adults only rooms fully equipped to meet all needs. Of which the Life Corner Suite stands out. The most exclusive room, located on the highest floor of the hotel, offering panoramic views of the city through its huge windows and its own private terrace. It also offers a wide range of services and amenities, such as online check-in, 24-hour reception, business center, self-service machines on each floor, adapted access and spaces, luggage room and private parking on request. Of all of them, the 7th floor stands out with the swimming pool, solarium and the REC Lounge, a cozy multifunctional space with spectacular views of Ciutat Vella, which thanks to its large windows allows natural light to enter throughout the day. In terms of gastronomy, the Fismuler restaurant in the hotel lobby is one of the most renowned in the city. Its menu features simply prepared dishes, but with a lot of technique and thought behind them, which change daily depending on the whims of the market. Enjoy your stay in Barcelona!

Hotel Rec Barcelona stands out for its superb location, nestled close to major attractions and the buzz of the city with excellent transit connections. Guests have called out the stylish modern vibe, rooftop bar, and live music for enhancing the atmosphere. While many guests commend the comfortable beds and cleanliness of the rooms, some have voiced concerns about noise and the efficacy of soundproofing. Service is generally celebrated for its warmth and helpfulness, although occasional lapses in housekeeping are noted. Despite some comments on the modest pool size and additional fees, the hotel is considered good value by reviewers.

Hotel's Favourite
Couple stayed 12-16 March 2023. This is an adult only hotel and was better than we were expecting.

Close to the Arc de Triomphe so easy to find. Only a few hundred meters from L1 underground station and V19 bus stop. Set back from the main road along the Carrer Rec Comtal so quiet. On the edge of the Gothic Quarter so we ate out although the hotel has a restaurant on the ground floor which seemed quite popular. Recommend the tiny Quillo Bar a few hundred meters along Carrer Rec Comtal on corner with Carrer de les Basses de Sant Pere.

Hotel itself is uncharacteristically modern for the area. We had the entry level 'Quiet' double room. Includes tea and coffee facilities although these weren't restocked but the room was cleaned daily. Small safe to put wallets and phones in and even had a socket inside to charge a phone which I haven't seen before. Storage was limited but ok for four nights. Big TV which included three English speaking news channels. Thin duvet but aircon could heat or cool to compensate. Window between shower and sleeping area which is the trend these days, but the mirror behind the sink slid across if you wanted more privacy when showering. There was even a tiny balcony.

Breakfast was included in our rate and served on the top floor in the lounge area. Wide buffet choice including cereals, fruit, juices, yogurts, cold meats and cheeses, scrambled eggs and little sausages, pastries and breads, tea and coffee. Enjoyed the view of the city whilst eating. The lounge had a work area and doubles as a bar in the evening but closes at 9.30pm. Outside the lounge there is a sundeck and very small pool - more for bathing than swimming.

On the ground floor there is a locker room with keys issued by reception on departure day which we used to store luggage after checkout before we went to the airport.

This clean and modern hotel is located at the edge of the wonderful El Born neighborhood within walking distance of all major places of interest and our room was quiet, music from the Arc de Triomphe square floated in on some occasions. The room was small even by European standards (or by some Manhattan apartment standards), but cozy and comfortable. Its minimalist architecture meant that the bed was pushed up against a wall but its great size and superbly comfortable mattress made up for that. The shower, sink and toilet are part of the room and especially the proximity of the toilet with its sliding door will not be appreciated by all guests, especially since the fan seemed to operate on a low intensity. And cupboard space is minimal, and the room could desperately do with more hooks to hang clothes and towels, but the space was well lit, the window big and there were several electricity and usb outlets. The rooftop with its wraparound windows and views is a huge plus as is the breakfast which consists of a wide range of high quality offerings continuously replenished by the staff who were in continuous motion throughout the morning. If this sounds like your type of hotel, you are guaranteed to have a great stay as we did.

The hotel provided all we needed for a comfirtable stay. We stayed here for 7 nights. The room was cleaned every single day no exception and all towels were changed. Yes, the rooms are smaller in size and there is not much space for clothes (especially if you are on a longer stay) but we managed to arrange everything and overall did not see this as a big issue. One thing I thought was cool is the built in bluetooth speakers in the room, something I did not see before in hotel rooms.

Location is very nice, 20-25 min to the beach with a lot of restaurants and shops/markets nearby.

We didn’t have breakfast included, initially considering 14€ / person is a bit high but ended up getting it almost everyday.

Considering the general prices in Barcelona, the breakfast is great value for money. We appreciated that they served freshly squeezed orange juice every day.

The hotel staff were very nice and ready to help if needed. Would chose this place again for sure!

You can’t go past this hotel for its convenient location. Located in one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the District 1 , it is close to the metro, bus stops and very near the Arc de Triomf. Also close to numerous restaurants and meandering streets.
However ….
After a very cursory check-in, we were offered the “Welcome drink” being given one token (yes one for two people) to get yourself a drink from a drink dispenser, yet I noticed other guests being offered wine, coke etc.
Our room was the greatest disappointment. Yes it is new, decorated in a modern avant garde/edgy feel however it was minute and I mean very very tiny; it was uncomfortable for two people. The bed was pushed up against the wall, so one person had to crawl over the bed to get in and out. (I checked the photos on the hotel website and this definitely is not apparent.) Furthermore the tiny bathroom was actually part of the bedroom with a sliding screen that when you pulled it across to use the sink , this then revealed the plain glass shower, on full view from the bedroom. (Perhaps you could put up with this for a night – but for us staying for several days – we did not find it enjoyable).
The room lacks functionality for travellers; nowhere to put your clothes, suitcase or to hang anything. There is a tiny wardrobe which only takes a few basics and you can’t hand longer outfits. Even a few hooks to hang things would help.
At times we found the nearby neighbours very noisy.
There are some positives: the rooftop area being one. An adequate continental breakfast is served up there and evening cocktails overlooking the city with great views was very pleasant. The pool was small. The restaurant on the ground floor is separate to the Hotel (Fismuler), but when a booking is made through the Hotel you receive a bottle of wine. We ate there and it was very nice. The hotel was clean.
Overall, staff service was inconsistent, from indifferent to very helpful. While it was very well located, for the price we paid I am sure you could source a hotel with a more comfortable room.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in. The staff are friendly upon check in and also when you are entering and leaving the hotel. Rooms are cleaned to a high standard by the cleaners every day, too. We required toothpaste, an iron and an ice pack on our first day and they had no issues sorting us out with these free of charge. The service is great and the rooms are really quirky and stylish.

Location wise it is only a few minutes walk from the metro and you can get the airport bus (I think it's called aerobus) to catalunya and then get the metro to Arc de Triomf. Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance, personally we don't like fish but the hotel do have a nice fish restaurant that looks very classy.

We had coffee and a sandwich at a little cafe just round the corner called Rec Comtal 21 which was friendly and great value for money.

The rooftop bar is also very nice but we didn't spend much time up here as it was February and we were out and about but I can imagine in summer it would be nice to relax up there with a cocktail or a beer.

Would reccomend to family and friends looking to stay in Barcelona and for a 3 star you are honestly getting so much value for money, myself and my partner loved our stay.

My Partner and I recently returned from a 4 night midweek break to this amazing hotel. The hotel is situated in one of the best areas; El Born where we enjoyed a traditional side of Barcelona.
From arriving at the hotel we were welcomed by friendly and informative staff member who offered us a drink and an early check in. The hotel is Adult Only and has a chilled out atmosphere. The lounge bar located on the top floor offers tapas, drinks and a small pool area great to enjoy the sunshine following adventures around the city. The breakfast was amazing, offering everything from pastries, Spanish Omelette, fresh fruit, juices, cheeses and much more.
The rooms are kept immaculate and I loved the huge bed and powerful shower. The friendly cleaning staff visited each day and left our room refreshed with clean towels and sheets.
The staff had noted it was birthday and left us a complimentary bottle of chilled Cava and then called with homemade chocolate brownies.
The whole experience from start to finish was amazing. After staying in many international hotels this was by far one if not the most enjoyable places I have stayed, no doubt due the care of staff and atmosphere of the hotel. I would not hesitate to recommend Hotel Rec to friends and family. Even checking out was lovely as we were given a pack lunch to enjoy for our journey home. As I return to being a mum of 3 boisterous boys I wish to Thank You for making our break to Barcelona a relaxing and memorable experience.

The rooms are (deliberately) minimalist, and modern/trendy which is fairly usual for Barcelona, but it’s done well here I think.
The staff are very helpful and friendly, which is not usual in Barcelona. Well not always!

I stayed for 2 nights and slept really well in the huge bed come sofa, helped by the sound insulation which seems excellent as I couldn’t hear anything.
I was on the 6th floor so the views across the city were amazing.
It is a minute or so walk to the metro and Barcelona Nord (central bus/coach station) is just a 5 minute walk.
If you’re an F1 fan they run special buses direct to the circuit de Catalunya on testing, qualifying and race days from Barcelona Nord. It was 4 euros last week (one way on the 28th February 2020).

We have No complaints at all, this place exceeds expectations. Read the reviews first and booked because of this but it is even better now that we are here. Our check in was amazing, with a welcome drink and some info about the area. Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The bed is comfortable. Has everything you need. The wifi is great. Now for the absolute best part of this hotel, the people working here. They all appear to love working here, not kidding. The front desk guys are super helpful with showing you places to see and eat and giving clear directions. The roof top bar is exceptional, very comfortable. Had a cocktail making lesson with Clementine and Joanna which was fun. The breakfast is probably the best we have experienced in our travels so far and we have travelled a lot. You can have it included with the room, which we did or pay as you go. There is something for everyone. Judy is so friendly, at breakfast, she makes sure you have all you need and more. We were already full but out comes a tray of churros with chocolate, no kidding! So good. Judy also is great for info about the area and will write down the names of places and address. She makes you feel so at home. The location is awesome as most everything you want to see is within walking distance. Lots of small shops and restaurants nearby. We have 3 more nights here and already wish more. They have activities at the roof top bar each evening, tonight is beer tasting. Tomorrow we have signed up for a walking tour of the neighborhood to sample tapas and cocktails, for a small fee. Today, after sightseeing all day, we come back to our room to find a bottle of cava on ice with a hand written note, thanking us for staying here. I think I want to move in...Seriously, you can’t go wrong staying here. We look forward to meeting Joe, the owner, as the staff have told us he is the best boss ever. He really knows how to run a business in our opinion.

My wife and I stayed three nights at The Hotel REC in Barcelona after completing a cruise and before flying out of Barcelona for Majorca.

It was a short taxi ride from the Cruise terminal to the hotel (£15) to the hotel very close to Arch de Trumf in Central Barcelona. The hotel entrance is modern and remarkable for its lack of clutter. The staff were very helpful and friendly and efficient.

We had to wait for our rooms to be ready which was fine as we arrived very early than the 15.00 check in. On exiting the lift you are presented with a very contemporary look in the hotel corridor. See my photo attached. This made us curious to see what was beyond the door of our room. When opened first time we were presented with the most contemporary style room that we have ever encountered. Coloured in white and green it was right out of the Barcelona art school. The bed occupied two thirds of the room! The sink was almost in the middle of the room! We didn’t know what to make of this.

However, once we got use to this stark style the room and the hotel really did grow on us. The room had all you need to be comfortable except no chairs to sit in but with a bed as big as this then why have chairs when you can lounge in style to watch tele. Tea and coffee facilities were ample and freely available as were charging points for Wi-Fi and phones. Internet services were excellent. The Rain shower was fantastic but be aware that the temp of the water did vary a little with use.

The hotel boasts of a pool on the top floor, but it’s the size of a postage stamp but still would function as a cooling off place in hot summers. In the pool area is a small sun decking area with beach style chairs and tables. Here you can order a beer or cocktail and the area also has a covered part which serves a very ample continental breakfast at £10 a pop.

Its position in Barcelona city is fantastic. You can reach the majority of sites by walking in any direction for 20 min. However, there is an underground close by which we did not use. A Red top open city bus tour, which we would have normally used but was so overcrowded that we heard at some stops people complaining that they had to wait two hours to get on a bus! So, it was shanks pony, I.e. on foot for us. However with a good map email on our phone we coped very well even though we are definitely not app savey at 70!

It was a bit of a track to the airport, a longer journey than we thought and £38 to travel by taxi, but you know you cannot have everything can you.

In the end we grew to love the REC, it a very clean unusual hotel, filled with very friendly helpful staff in a perfect position in the city. It is very hard to find fault here so if you want a few days stay try it.

Great location in the heart of the Gothic quarter and in walking distance of most sights. Roof terrace and pool were great. We stayed for 4 nights

Positives:
Location
Rooftop bar
Friendly staff
Air conditioning
Bluetooth speaker on ceiling

Things to improve:

We booked an XL room which was bigger than standard rooms but was a lot of 'dead space' due to the fact the increase in space was by the door and not where you spent your time e.g. the bed area. Perhaps a sofa could be added to make use of the space?

Really small wardrobe space

Room not cleaned one morning - unsure why but got replacement towels easily enough when I asked

Bathroom was a good size although shower wasn't always red hot.

Room was on the 1st floor and could hear some city noise

Hi there just Shower Gel soap and Shampoo, but if you ask the front desk for any extra items I am sure they will be happy to assist, also you have a small little express grocery store walking distance. This hotel is centrally located to a lot of places to eat and shop.

I would estimate it is accessible. Entry is flat, rooms are flat, each floor is without steps. There are steps at the top restaurant/bar area but only if you want to go out on the roof. However, the lift is quite small (4 person size) and the size of the mobility scooter might be an issue. Also, the room I had I would say is not so accessible. A lot of narrow doors, narrow passages between bed, sink, shower area. Very little place for a scooter in the room too. They might have bigger rooms…
