The Loews Hollywood Hotel enjoys a prime location that guests consistently applaud for its proximity to local attractions, yet some travelers feel that the hotel's value is undermined by hidden fees and overpriced services. While the rooms offer ample space and often boast scenic views, there is a sentiment that updates are needed.
Cleanliness is a strong point, with immaculate conditions frequently highlighted, but the hotel's service receives mixed reviews due to varying experiences with staff and room service. Amenities are appreciated, though inconsistent housekeeping and additional charges for basics have been noted.

This hotel was an accident for me. I live in Orange County and visit LA frequently so I spend a lot of time on Hotels.com looking for nice hotels with decent locations. I stumbled upon Loews on one of these excursions and requested at check-in a secluded room, because I like to work and have as few quests next door. They didn’t have one at the time but they had an upgraded suite for not much more that turns out to be spectacular. Not only did I have one of the highest floors, but the room was better than most apartments I had seen in a long time. It was so spacious and clean and professional and since the hotel is situated on an incline near the base of Hollywood hills, the view from my room peered down into all of Los Angeles. No building came close to competing for the panorama. The lobby is clean and designed in what I call rustic modern, straight lines, high ceilings, dark wood, cozy low sofa chairs, very pleasant atmosphere to chill with a book or to do some work on your pc or meet with friends for appetizers and drinks. The elevators are great. Six of them never leave you waiting for more than 10 seconds and they speed their way up and down like trolleys with silent Ferrari engines. There is a restaurant floor and gyms and spa levels that I haven’t yet visited but I’ve been told by other guests that it is great. But the thing I did use more than I thought I would, was the in-room dining and take away form the bar menu. Everything you get from room service is super fresh and delicious. I can’t speak highly enough about the experience. But the garlic shrimp flatbread from the bar downstairs? To die for! Literally, it would be my last meal if I was given the choice.

We loved this hotel, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We booked a room with a view of the Hollywood sign and unfortunately a day into the trip could smell the drainage/sewer from our bathroom. After finding a technician to assess the situation, the deputy manager was immediately able to move us to an upgraded suite. The hotel is a stone throw away from Hollywood Boulevard, a short Uber ride to Universal Studios and a few mins walk from Mel’s Diner. The rooms are spacious, clean and sleek. We absolutely loved it and cannot wait to return.

This was a second time staying at the Loews Hollywood. First time was 5 years ago. We picked the hotel because of it's super central location in Hollywood. We wanted to immerse ourselves into the Hollywood culture and that we did. Self parking was expensive at $17.00usd for a 24 hour period with no in/out privileges. Metro station is right next door at the HIghland Mall and easy access to Universal Studios as well as Downtown. Check-in was fairly decent, but I do remember the staff being a little friendlier last time which had left a great impression...not so much this time. Hotel has a nice heated, outdoor pool Room was well appointed and we paid for a view of the Hollywood sign. Everything was fine with the room, just felt it was showing it's age and needed a little TLC....again, compared to last visit. The best feature about the hotel is the location - attached to Highland Mall and walking distance to TCL Chinese Theatre, walk of fame, Dolby theatre, Madame Tussaud wax museum to name a few. Also walking distance to Starline Tours central departure depot for various tours. We took the Celebrity Homes and Beverly Hills tour which included a free Madame Tussaud visit.

When I had returned from my evening event on 10/24/2021, I took a shower at approx 11:30 pm. The shower water was luke warm - not warm and def not hot. I went to call the front desk to advise them and have water fixed by morning. HOwever, when I went to use the phone in the room, I found out the lamp by the phone didn't have a light bulb so I couldn't see what number I was dialing so I had to use my phone light to light it up.
Got a hold of the front desk and the gentleman was very apologetic and stated our issues were not to Loewe's standards. He said he would make sure the water would be hot by morning. As compensation, he would authorize a $50 credit for Preston's or Bodega for the morning. I was appreciate of the gesture.
Fast forward to Preston's this morning and we inquired if there was a credit to our room and there was not. We explained the situation to the hostess and she said she would take care of it. Well, we were already so figure we'd trust her. At the end of the meal and receiving the bill, there was no credit to the bill. We paid the server. Not sure if the $50 credit will be applied.
GOOD: Food was great. Service excellent. Hotel was clean. Room comfortable. BAD: No Hot Water (it was actually much warmer in morning, not hot). No bulb in room lamp.
Dealing with the situation and mishandling the $50 gesture? We'll see. Definitely not good continuity.

The Hollywood Lowe’s is a beautiful looking hotel from outside but then you go inside. Check in was slow and getting our bags upstairs took fifteen minutes and it was a quiet time of day. Nico the concierge was pleasant and friendly but totally incompetent and worse when you told him he gave you incorrect directions he just shrugged. He told us to have lunch near the pool and when we went there the bar man told us the restaurant was closed for weeks for repairs. We wanted to go to Japan House for lunch. Nico “triple checked” on line that all was good and no need to call. Elevators were broken, directions were difficult and at the end of the journey the hostess at Japan House told us they were never open for lunch and in addition they were under renovation for several months and wouldn’t open for another month. Housekeeping was absent and only showed when we called at 3pm and complained. The renovation of our room was fine but the bathroom door was chipped as was the base of our bed. The carpet was badly stained in front of the elevator. The whole experience was second rate.

This was my 3rd visit with my family to the Lowes Hollywood, first post Covid. The hotel itself is a decent venue and located close to Hollywood Blvd. While the local roads are really busy it’s central location is great for anyone wanting a great base to experience what LA has to offer and coastal beach areas as well as Beverly Hills. All main attractions are close by.
The hotel is a little tired around the edges but generally a nice place to be with a good vibe. The staff are great. Janice (duty manager) and James (bar manager) are very good and worthy of particular note of great customer service.
The parking underneath is accessible and easy, $20 max per day charge.
The hotel charges a resort fee of $25 but allows you a $20 credit per room per day on hotel drinks and food. The issue here is no one wants to miss out on the credit meaning the coffee shop is overcrowded and painfully slow. This needs a rethink as you lose either 30 mins or forfeit the daily credit. Seems illogical.
We enjoyed our stay at the Lowes and would recommend it to others. Overall it’s good but with a few minor tweaks could be excellent.

Hotel was nice, staff was nice. We stayed for 7 days in February and had arranged for room with view and based on pictures representing the room. The room we got was not like the pictures as it was not renovated as nicely as those shown. Felt it was misleading and seeing as we were staying as long as we did(and price we paid) - would have thought we should have received a better room. Location was convenient for our purposes(near Metro Red Line) and highway access. Hollywood walk of fame gets old quick and there are not a lot of great dining options in the area. Next time we would choose another area. Buffett breakfast while not cheap was actually pretty good value - as there was nice selection of delicious food.

Traveling during covid times is already challenging, the most important thing is hygene, cleaness, defiitely not found in this hotel.
On a positive note, employees were wearing masks properly.
We picked it because of the iconic Hollywood location, but would definitely not go back here.
Since the arrival the hotel smell was absolutely disgusting, I will be more specific: pot unbearable smell all over the place. Indeed, the fire alarm was activated 3 times during our stay because people were smoking it in the rooms, we evacuated the first time through the stairs because we did not know what was going on and got scared, when we accessed again, the employees in the front desk confirmed it was because people were smoking (not sure what) in the rooms in our floor, I hope measures were taken because it is certainly scary to have an alarm go off so many times without guidance.

We stayed seven days in Loews Hollywood Hotel at the end of May. We travelled to the LA area from Ireland and found choosing a base very difficult, we decided on Hollywood due to the tourist attractions and proximity to a metro red line.
We ended up not using the metro as much as we thought, Uber and Lyft made travelling around LA easy and affordable.
The location is an interesting one, there is a huge outdoor mall (currently under construction), tourist museums such as the wax museum and hollywood museum, the hollywood walk of fame, Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Criterion movie theatre and the Chinese Movie theatre all within five minutes of the hotel which is a huge benefit. We also found it easy to travel to other areas by Uber or metro and we had amazing views of the Hollywood Hills. But the area also has a slightly sleazy undertone and can start to feel unsafe if you stray too far from the tourist area.
The hotel itself fantastic; our room was huge, clean and comfortable with an amazing view of the Hollywood sign. There was a beautiful pool (we didn't use it) bar and a quick spot for coffee and pastries.
There was also a restaurant, we stopped by once for breakfast. Although they were advertised as serving until 11am they were setting up for a private event and our breakfast felt very rushed and secondary in comparison. Having said that, the french toast and pancakes were delicious.
There are some downsides to the hotel though:
At the weekend the hotel was extremely busy and we were unlucky enough to spend Saturday night next to a really noisy group, blaring music and banging doors. This seems to be a party hotel for the weekend, something to bear in mind for families.
One major downside for us was the security deposit of 150 dollars a night. As we spent over seven nights our security deposit was over 1k which seems ridiculous. I do appreciate the need for a security deposit but I feel there should be a cap on how much they can take?
There is a 25 dollars a night tax on hotels in LA, this hotel offers you 20 dollars in credit for their bar and restaurants. We used this to buy a quick breakfast most mornings. You should be warned that taxi is not included in this 20 dollars and will come out of your security deposit, as will anything over the 20 dollars.
Overall I would recommend this hotel with the caveat that you need to have funds available for a security deposit, can expect it to be busy and noisy at weekends and that the area is slightly wild but is definitely the heart of Hollywod.

Have been staying here for years, the staff is always very professional and helpful. Security is good, as valid room keys are needed for elevator access, important for the Hollywood area. Liked the hand sanitizer on each floor, all staff masked. Upon arriving, I noted the rooms are starting to show their age in places. Also some of the bed mattresses aren’t as as comfortable, again starting to sag a bit. Although overall, I still feel comfortable staying at Hollywood Loews as the rooms are modern and spacious, pool is nice, on-site restaurants and bars, rooms are always cleaned well and you can’t beat the location!
