El Dorado Casitas Royale garners praise for its comprehensive amenities, including swim-up rooms and a variety of dining options, all set in a private location near a beautiful beach that enhances the serene ambiance. Guests commend the resort's cleanliness and the relaxed atmosphere offered by its unique room styles and private pools. However, opinions are mixed regarding the value, with some feeling additional charges are steep, and rooms sometimes fall short in upkeep and reservation accuracy. Service is generally applauded, though experiences can vary.

Hotel's Favourite
We just returned from a four night adult only stay with 4 couples to celebrate my 50th birthday. I was a little worried going in by some of the bad reviews but I have to say that this place was fantastic. The casita room was large and had a view of the ocean. It had an outdoor shower and that may have been one of my favorite things about this trip. All of the food was fantastic. I've been to at least 7 other all inclusive resorts(including secrets) and this was by far the best food. All 8 people in our group felt the same way about the food, and one of them is a chef. If you complain about the food, then I think you are just a natural complainer. All of the staff was fantastic! Everyone was very friendly and provided great service. We rented two of the "cabanas" at the main pool for two of the days we were there. Worth every penny. We had Luis as our waiter both days and he was fantastic. Brought us drinks and food all day and very attentive. The beach is not swimmable, but if you do your research you should know that going in. Yes, the resort is large, but the walk from the casitas to the main pool/breakfast is such a beautiful walk along the ocean that I don't know how you can complain about that. We were one of the furthest casitas from the main pool and it was roughly a 10 minute walk. A few more golf carts running would be nice to transfer people around the resort. It seemed like people were always waiting for a golf cart. My only complaint is the restaurant reservation system. There must be a better way! The "concierge" is only there until 3 pm to make reservations. We arrived too late on a Friday to make reservations but were able to walk up to eat at Kampai. They seated 8 of us easily at 6:00 pm. When we tried to make dinner reservations on Saturday for the rest of the trip she said the system "resets" on Sunday and we would have to come back on Sunday to make the rest of the reservations. This makes no sense to me and was a hassle. It is also time consuming to wait if there is a line to make a reservation. It is a very antiquated system that needs to be modernized. You should be able to make a reservation on the app. I do think there should be a map on the app as well since the resort is so large. If there is, I couldn't find it. I had to carry my paper map with me. I also don't know why they can't seat more than 6 people at a table. Our group had to split up into tables of 4 to eat. Other than those minor issues, I was very happy. I would not hesitate to return!

We have just returned from this beautiful resort with a few bumps along the way.
The positives are that the resort, grounds and food were first class and couldn’t fault. The Bali beds are the selling point for us with peace and calm on a lovely beach and so near to our Casitas. Some fellow guests we found rude and loud who high jacked the Casitas bar men to blue tooth their awful music with no consideration for other guests.
We were in Casitas 26 2608 and the biggest shout and praise goes to Christian who cleaned and serviced our room daily. This young man deserves to be promoted for his shear hard work and compassion and we thank him dearly. I hope Christian sees this review.
All the restaurants were excellent and we booked all of them. Spot was our favourite for lunch and Italian Casitas for the evening.

The negatives unfortunately was even though we booked this holiday with tui almost 12 months ago requesting a ground floor Casitas and being assured we would be accommodated we arrived to be offered an upstairs Casitas which we declined so had to wait until the day after to be moved. This took until late in the afternoon to move after vacating the first Casitas at 11am! Not good.
The concierge were not the best or friendly and knowing that not many British are interested in the sales pitch we felt unimportant to them. On our last night concierge messed up by booking the Italian to find it closed on arrival! Reception told us the Italian Casitas couldn’t accommodate us or many other restaurants at this stage but on just turning up at the Italian Casitas and explaining they kindly fit us in with many empty tables! So someone is not doing their job correctly. On check out we were told to go and check out at main reception , when there were told we were at the wrong reception and our luggage was locked in our Casitas at this stage. Concierge not much use. Other concierge on other blocks were nice and fun but we were unlucky with ours.
Sorry to be a little negative though most was fabulous but let down with concierge and lack of information.
Would we return? Probably

My wife and I arrived Jan. 1st for a much needed recharge after a busy holiday season and stayed in the 2900 Casitas section. Upon arrival we were taken directly to the Casitas office for a speedy check in. There you can get champagne , coffee ,fruit ,small assortment of cookies and later in the day small desserts. We had a swim out room which was very clean, roomy and comfortable. The view from the room was like looking at a postcard that you wished you were there, and we were.
In the morning we ordered room service breakfast every day except for the one time that we went to Santa Fa for breakfast and then realized that room service was better. Eggs Benedict,Omelettes, fruit platter, Huevos Rancheros and Mimosa was just a small sample of the goodness that arrive shortly after you ordered it. .We also ordered shrimp tacos, enchiladas, double hamburgers for lunch or a snack which were so good. This is just a small sample of what was available, all so good.
We went out to eat in the evenings and Fuentes Culinary Theater was our most enjoyable outing.
We did the wine pairing and that was so worth it .The whole evening was so much fun. When you purchased the wine pairing you could also team it with a VIP seating for the Mexican Fiesta which we did at a cheaper rate than buying VIP seating separate. The Mexican Fiesta was so good and the food was excellent. One of the best Fiestas we have ever gone to. We also did the Mexican which was great, Santa Fa twice, Kampi and the Italian in the royal section. There was a mix up on our Italian reservation so that is why we ended up there rather than the Italian in the Casitas section. The food was very good for the week that we were there. The resort is very large so taking a shuttle for an evening meal was a must sometimes. Just wait at a stop or were ever you are and some one will pick you up. The resort is gorgeous, where there is a place for everyone depending on what you would like to do.
The people that work there are so friendly and very helpful. Our 2900 section had a swim up bar which I frequented and got to know Ortiz our bartender . I shared my choice of music with Ortiz and he would always have it playing when i would float for a drink,so cool. Thanks Ortiz!.
On the days that we we not at the beach or in the pool but were sitting and relaxing on our deck, Ortiz would make his way over to see if we needed something and if not him then it was Eleazar or Jose our beach butlers would come .Thanks

This is our 3rd time at the Casitas and it never disappoints! We stayed in the End Unit in Section 32 (Thank you Vanessa!) and room was very well appointed with premium L'Occitane bath products, fluffy towels, and soft bedding. We stayed for 8 days. Housekeeping was excellent as well. The End Unit Casita has plenty of room but very hard to book! I wish they had more of them.

Our two butlers, Alvero and Claudio, made us feel very special with treats each night when we returned to the room. Alvaro made sure all of our dinner reservations and activities were taken care of and our ice chest was well stocked with water for the beach. Claudio was prompt each night in getting us to the restaurants and arranged a very special in room dinner. Also we were there for my wife's birthday and Alvaro and Claudio worked together to make her entire day very special. I highly recommend both of them!

Carla took great care of us on the beach each day. She is an exceptional beach butler. We had ice cream on the beach every day and she kept us well stocked with Peach Bellinis and Caipirinhas. Also no seaweed on the beach!

We went to Bonanza Ranch for the first time and it was a great experience. Just a golf cart ride from the resort.

Our favorite restaurants this trip were Fuentes, D'Italia, Kampai, and Bar 32. Don't miss Rincon Mexico's signature dish. Can't wait until our next trip.

We visited there a couple of weeks ago for our 13th visit. Overall the resort is very nice. They take extreme care to keep the grounds incredibly nice and clean. After a couple of off years it appears that they have upgraded their food menu as most of our meals we would rate as above average or exceptional. The service staff which includes the bartenders, maids, room service and bell men were all above average to excellent.
Our problem is with the seemingly lack of communication, or infighting, between the Concierge's and the rest of the resort. Our Concierge, and other travelers Concierge that we we spoke with, were completely ineffective at most simple tasks. For instance, Bottled water, which is a necessity is to be restocked daily in our rooms by the Mini Bar people. they never came so we requested through our Concierege to be restocked. It was like they did not speak our language. We had to ask almost daily for more water and our Concierege would tell us that he ordered it and it would be there shortly. Only to find that it was not delivered after 2-3 conversations with them per day. My wife would complain to the Front Desk and we would have water within 10 minutes...several times this happened. It was not just the bottled water that I'm speaking about regarding VERY poor service from our Concierge , it was most things through our Coincierge were messed up. They made dinner reservations for us at Jade and the restaurant was closed that night. This happened with countless other guests. Dinner reservations could only be made at 6 pm or 9 pm for the entire week, nothing else available and these are not ideal eating times for us. I doubt that... Also they have closed the Cocotal restaurant for dinner. This was the only non-reservation restaurant. So if you do not have reservations, your options are to wait for an hour or two to be seated.
We spoke to many other guests, including many that were members, and almost all were very disappointed wtih the lack of service and they had many more problems with the resort. Many stated that they either would not return, or were reluctant to return. We are in that second category and likely will wind up at EPM next year.
This is a serious problem that i feel is being hidden from upper management. They cannot fix what they dont know is broken. And I'll bet they dont make any comment on this post...
What once was our favorite resort has diminished. I will only return when some of these problems are addressed.

El Dorado Casitas Royale is a romantic getaway for two, from the Gourmet Inclusive food to the 24 hour room service. With three different resorts attached this resort area is huge, you get all three resorts with one stay.

You will have a personal concierge who can help you with anything, I had hurt my ankle and needed an ankle brace and our Concierge was on the phone with a pharmacy right away and had an ankle brace delivered within an hour. Everyone who works here goes above and beyond expectations, and the setting is beautiful.

They do recommend to make restaurant reservations ahead of time the only two that are a must is Fuentes Dinner Theater and that is an additional $10 per person but totally worth it, and the Casitas D'Italia is reservation only. All the rest are available for walk up, reservations do make it easier. All restaurants ask upon seating if you have any allergies.

We stayed in a Casita Suite and we went in February and the pools are chilly. The pools on the Royale side are bigger and have lots going on during the day. So you have the choice to mingle with others or lay in a Bali bed together for the day, and yes, there is beach bar service.

Please don't forget to Tip for fantastic service!

There is nightly entertainment and live music, there are also shuttles to get around since the resort is so long and beachfront, you can walk everywhere and there is a 5K every Friday.

The beach is not accessible in all areas and the concrete reefs stones do stand out, they should sink in the coming years and become a natural reef but the erosion here every year due to hurricanes is terrible. There is a salt water pool available and 14 different pools on the El Dorado side, almost all of them have a swim up bar available. Oh and the pool towels are in a big brown box behind the swim up bar on the Casitas side, not sure about the Royale side.

The rooms in Casitas are more romantic than the Royale side but both have jacuzzi soaking tubs.

There are two huge Spa's on site, we did not use the spa this time but there are lots of options for couple massage and mani/pedis.

They will ask you about the "Exotic Club" tour which is a time share, something we were not interested in but they do offer some perks if you do the presentation.

There is an App for this resort and it does have all the activities and menus in the App, they are going to handsfree information so all info is easily found o
in the App. And the 24 hour room service is included and the menu will be on your tv in the room.

The free Covid testing appointment was made with the Concierge and done by Costa Med on site, must be done within 72 hours of your flight.

This is truly Peace of Mind travel.

We loved our stay here and want to go back!

They are taking every precaution to make sure their guests and staff are safe while still providing top notch service and amenities. When you arrive you will have your temperature taken and then you will begin to check-in. Hand sanitizer is provided throughout the resort for you to use and all of the staff members wear a mask and a face shield. You will also see people cleaning and wiping down tables, chairs, hand rails, golf carts etc. after each use.

The resort is beautiful but large. Juan May and Raoul (from beach front 26-27 casitas) were the best bartenders and very knowledgeable about the resort. But they have glass water bottles in the room that don’t fit well in the mini fridge. Had to call room service for water a lot. An upgrade was $1000 plus and there was no hard liquor in your casitas. We may have had our own pool but you had to navigate two levels of stairs to get to our room since that was the closest bathroom. The room service menu was really restricted and none of the restaurants let you take an order to go eat poolside. Even the ice cream stand on the resort was $3 usd for a scoop of ice cream. We did the 80 min couples massage and it was worth the $309 usd until they offer you a $14/person lotion upgrade. Every restaurant has a cost on the wine if it’s not specified as house wine. Lobster dinners are also an added charge. If your looking for small resort this is not the place for you. Also the price you pay for the service and “upgrades” isn’t worth it. We have been here twice but won’t be going back.

This was our third time at El Dorado, and second time at the Casitas. We love it so much that we became members last year! We have a couple that we met there the first time we were there 4yrs ago and since have become some of our closest friends! The week started with our arrival with Lomas who picked us up from the airport, then to meet up with Franco and Fabio who brought us champagne and made sure everything in our room in Casitas 3200 was everything we dreamed it could be! The outdoor shower and swim out pool from our room on the main level are our favorite parts of the room which is so beautiful! Our butlers Manuel and Alexis were AMAZING! Anything we could ever need, they made sure that we had it from reservations for dinner, massage appointments to after dinner shots left in our room at the end of the night. We had Kat and Gabby last year as our butlers and they took care of us this time even though they didn't have to! In the mornings we would get coffee, fruit and fresh warm pastries delivered to our room, then sit on our little patio and take in the sunrise. We did have to go and put books on our chairs around the pool or on a Bali bed, but it wasn't a big deal. The 32 pool bar tenders were fantastic also! Not only did Luis, Eduardo, and Jonathan make sure we were taken care of at the pool and on the beach with drinks, they would bring us little sandwiches before lunch and get our ice cream orders after lunch and bring it to us! We felt SO spoiled always! they make sure we were Our favorite breakfast place is Santa Fe. They have amazing breakfast burritos, mimosas and we LOVE Jose who was our server there and at the restaurant at the 32 pool. HIs energy was so positive and fun! At lunch we would eat at the 32 pool and Vicki is the cook there. Everything that she cooks is absolutely out of this world! The Palms restaurant is wonderful for lunch also! It is right on the beautiful turquoise water and we would have Gjarmo as our server who was wonderful also! We went to the members dinner at El Fuentes with a dinner show and a wine pairing dinner with entertainment that followed dinner! The food, the wine pairing and our server Carlos were out of this world! We had dinner at many of the restaurants, but our favorite experience was with Silvario at Di Italia. The food there was OK, but he made our experience there wonderful! My Husband and I had two couples massages each. One indoor in the spa with Rosa and Samuel and one in the morning outside at the sky beds! listening to the waves and getting a massage in the morning before it got to busy outside was such a relaxing experience! The beach and the water were mesmorising. They do have breakers to stop the waves from coming in and destroying the beaches, but you get used to them and color of the water becomes the focus!
I cannot rave more about the service, the food, the rooms and the people that make the whole experience so memorable and magical!

Hello, El Dorado Casitas is amazing. The beach isn't perfect, lots of rocks, and some of the lighting and furniture in the non-renovated rooms is dated and dark (Building 28). However, the facilities and the staff are amazing. You can arrive knowing you will be treated like kings and queens during your stay. I must emphasize that if something is not to your liking, then bring it up to your butler or concierge. They will see that it gets addressed immediately. There is always two people on staff at any time to assist to make your stay special. We LOVE this resort and return at least once a year. As for those worried about COVID-19 protocols to make guest feel safe, worry not! All transportation to and from resort requires face masks by guests. All staff are wearing face masks and if they have direct meetings with guests, they wear a face shield as well. All restaurants have guests separated by at least 6 feet and have QR code downloadable menus so you do not have to touch a paper. All chairs and tables are sanitized when the guest leaves every time. Guests are not required to wear masks but everyone we spoke with felt safe and that they had enough personal space around them to feel safe.

Technically no...but you can. Many people smoke cigarettes or even weed - and the staff does not care.

Is there a resort app? Reading that the restaurant reservations are hard to manage.
