The hotel has very friendly and helpful staff with English spoken widely. It is about a 10 minute walk from Glories shopping mall, from where you can see and walk to La Sagrada Familiar. It is about a 15 minute walk from the beach, a 2 min walk from La Rambla Poblenou (which is like a smaller version of the main La Rambla) and 5 mins away from a couple of Metro stations. Plaza Catalunya is about a 15 min ride on the Metro, if you don’t fancy the 30 min walk. There is also a supermarket a 2 min walk away, a taxi rank and a cycle rental stand outside.

The hotel is nice and clean. The breakfast is included and offers meats, cheeses, pastries, cereal, fruit, etc. Our room had a double bed and a couch, which was nice for sitting during the day. It is a basic hotel but it more than met our needs. The rooms do not have a refrigerator but they provided us with ice when we requested it.

Property is in a good location, near the city’s up and coming tech hub which makes you wonder why their internet speed is so lousy. Barely works. Don’t stay here if you need it for business. Good location away from the tourism madness but close enough if you want to jump in. Faded and unremarkable lobby and rooms. It’s quiet which is a plus but needs serious improvement. Look elsewhere.

An easy 10 minute walk from the nearest Metro station and 5 to 10 minutes walk to good quality bars and restaurants in the local area. Quick check in/ check out. Good size room. Great choice at the Breakfast Buffet although at certain times you had to wait for a table due to the number of guests. They have a notice explaining when you should expect the Breakfast service to be busiest - their timings are clearly out of sync as during our stay the opposite times seemed to be the busiets! Since Covid we always request our rooms are only serviced every other day. Despite informing the reception team and hanging a Do Not Disturb sign on the door our room was still serviced. For visiting the sights of Barcelona and staying in a quieter part of the City we would definitley recommend this hotel.

Barcelona is a beautiful city, but the Holiday Inn Express experience we had was terrible. I'm giving 2 stars only for the location which was near to the 'Llacuna' metro station. Otherwise, it only deserves 1 star.

We went there in April 2022, and the weather was hot. Before finalizing the booking, we saw that the hotel had mentioned 'air conditioning' in the amenities. Only after seeing that did we finalize the booking and paid for it. But after reaching there, we discovered that the hotel room was hot and suffocating. We were told that the air conditions of the entire building offer either hot air or cold air, but at one time! So, there's no way to switch a 'room's' particular air conditioning, which was insane.

We thought opening the windows would solve the issue, but hell no. The noise from the road didn't let us sleep for even one night, out of the three nights we were there at. We asked for some sort of compensation, but the managers only offered us two free drinks at the bar. Is that some kind of a joke?

We said nothing more, and only stayed outside in the city for most of the time, as staying in the hotel was the 'last thing' we were looking forward to. Even the breakfast was substandard compared to what we have had at other hotels in Europe in the past.

This was an eye-opening experience for us, as we vowed we would never book a holiday inn, inside Europe now! There are much better hotel chains, offering more amenities at similar prices. We got duped by the brand name. Not anymore!

On our last day there, we had to wait a while before our train down to the coast. As we waited, at least two groups of travellers told Manuel at Reception that they had stayed at this Holiday Inn Express before. I can completely understand why! Barcelona is fabulous and I would also stay here again if (and I hope I do) I ever return to visit.

Front Desk staff such as Alejandro and Manuel are so courteous and helpful. They give you a map as soon as you get there and without prompting tell you things to make your stay easier.

If you turn left out of the hotel, just a few minutes walk down is a big supermarket and as you continue walking, a choice of shops and restaurants. Walk further the same way, turning right one point and you will get to the beach.
Turn right out of the hotel and the line 3 metro station, Llacurno is only a 5-10mins walk, connecting you to the rest of Barcelona!

Hotel was spacious and good choice for breakfast, Not a fan of the bathroom frosted glass window (depends who you are sharing with!), but room was lovely and clean.

Just before I end, I want to say thank you for our unexpected early check in. We thought we would have to leave our luggage and go for a sweaty, uncomfortable walk around but instead we were told our room was ready for us to get refreshed and start our holiday! Should not be demanded or expected but a bonus if it happens!

TIP: your room has a hairdryer, iron, tea/coffee making facilities but no mini fridge, and during the hot weather, you will crave cold water! So, everytime we'd come back after a metro trip, we would pop into the corner shop called Chaudhary Supermercat just outside the Llacuna stop and buy a very cold 1Euro bottle or two! They always seemed to be open late after other shops have closed.

Hotel is well located in a safe part of Barcelona. I was more than happy walking in the area after dark. Metro is a about a 4min walk and there is a bus stop round the corner from the hotel.

There isn't much in terms of actual sites near the hotel but plenty of good restaurants and supermarkets within a few minute walk.

10mins or so walk to the beach and to the nearest major shopping area. The main barcelona sites are a bit further but by no means far. The metro stop connects you to the main sites well.

Hotel itself had really nice friendly staff, decent bathroom and good communal areas.

The negatives that make it average are the room size which was very small for a family. Cleanliness could have been better. Room appeared to have been cleaned quickly with some things missed. Breakfast was also only average with no milk in any of the coffee machines on my final day. Staff were walking past for ages but didn't attend to the issue.

Dear ThisGuyLovesTravel, I appreciate you for sharing your review about your recent stay. Thank you for choosing our hotel for your vacation with your family in Barcelona. I am very sorry that you did not experience an exemplary stay due to the cleanliness of our room and our breakfast. This is certainly below our usual high standard of service. Please be assured that I have noted and forwarded your comments for the management to improve. In the midst of the inconvenience, I am glad to know that the service of our staff was still appreciated. I very much hope that you will grant us the opportunity to prove ourselves again. Best Regards, Ben W. Case Manager IHGService

Centrally located this is a very comfortable hotel - higher shandard than the usual UK Express with good bed, large rooms and well-organised shower rooms. Conveniently located for access to metro and bus services - there is a bus from around the corner to the Sagrada Familia and the metro station is a few minutes walk. Barcelona Travel Pass worked well for all travel options and is a great deal.
Breakfast was very busy but was enjoyable with a wide variety of dishes. Generally a good stay.

Let's start with the location: A 5 minute walk from the nearest metro station (Llacuna) and 3-4 stops away from Barceloneta. Very near la Rabla Poblenau (5 minutes walk) and its many tapas bars, restaurants etc. Nice, quiet and safe neighborhood.

About the hotel now. Well, we had 2 issues:
1. Our room for a family of 4 was definitely not for 4 persons. There was no space for our clothes, there was hardly enough space for all of us to be in the room at the same time
2. Something must be done with the breakfast queues (yes, there were 2: one for sitting at a table and another one for getting through the buffet.

Other than that, no issues. The reception staff was great: professional, very accommodating and helpful, polite and pleasant. The breakfast staff were also trying their best to seat everyone in a timely manner and replenish everything. The hotel is basic (hence the "express") and we knew that. All basic amenities were present and the room was adequately clean and equipped.

Dear Mr. Jim Rude, Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to bring this matter to my attention and apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with the queues during the breakfast. We try to do our best but sometimes it is difficult. For this reason you can find signs at reception and in the elevators where we inform you of the best time to enjoy breakfast, but unfortunately sometimes there are also queues that do not usually last more than 10 - 15 minutes. We are very happy that you enjoyed our neighborhood and also that you felt very well cared for all the staff and we are going to share with all of them your comments that we are sure will make them very happy and encourage them to continue working on the same path. It is our goal to consistently provide superior service and accommodations and your comments are very important to us. The feedback we receive from our valued guests, like you, enables us to target problem areas and take the necessary actions to ensure similar situations can be avoided in the future. We appreciate the candid feedback we receive and welcome any opportunity to improve. Once again, we appreciate you taking the time to share your comments with us. We know you have many choices when it comes to lodging and we hope you will continue to choose Holiday Inn Express for your future travel needs. Sincerely, Carme Trullols Guest Service Manager

I was really worried about the hotel when I approached it: there is a lot of construction in this area, it really did not look like any nice things could be found in walking distance. Relax, there is a nice street just around the corner of the hotel.
If you come be care, you will be happy to find out there is a parking. If you have a big car, you will be in big trouble to get out as there is a pillar that is really in the middle of the slope. And yes, I can say from myself that I can park a car very well, this is definitively a challenge parking. Note also: you have to press a button BEFORE you drive up the slope. And, you only have very limited time before the gate closes again.
As entering the parking is easier, I asked if you could use this to exit too: this was not an unusual question: you need to first ring the bell to open the standard exit gate: you leave the car inside, but run outside. Now you ring again to enter the parking: if you are fast enough, you get out without damage...

The room itself looks like every new HIE, no complaints on that end apart from the pillows, these were stone hard! Also a special note for the person at the lobby: he was extremely kind and informative.

Breakfast was OK, with strict Covid rules (mask, desinfection sprays, gloves)
