This motel is superb deal. The rooms are huge, ours slept 6 with ease, clean, and well appointed. The staff, from reception to housekeeping, are courteous and attentive. The room had everything one could wish for: TV, phone, free wifi, hair drier, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, refrigerator, extra blankets and pillows and just for Covid your own room sanitizer spray provided- not that anything was less than sparkling!
They will bring you room service breakfast from the lobby offerings if you call the night before prior to eight o'clock. I have never before seen this service at a motel.
The owners Jane and Andrew are very nice and accommodating!

This motel has been remodelled since previous visits years ago and what a nice job the owners have done. We stayed in a ‘family room’ which could easily sleep 6 adults with its 2 queen & 1 king bed and included They have thought of everything you may need when traveling: fridge, microwave, coffee, iron, hair dryer, toaster, tv with hundreds of channels, bathroom has hot & cold markers on taps, nice soft towels, soap, shampoo and a quiet air conditioner. The best feature was their breakfast selections done via their mobile menu! We had fried eggs, cereal, bagels, orange juice & all was included in the room price. The staff was extremely responsive and friendly. Bonus was that we walked across the street for a great dinner at Mother Webb’s & could gas up there as well. We weren’t sure about stopping here but thanks to other reviews we took a chance & we’re glad we did so!

The Coastal Inn Antigonish is actually in South River, but we didn’t want to be right in town anyway. The location is great as it’s a drive up style accommodation and Mother Webb’s Restaurant (open every day but Christmas) is right across the street. The budget room we chose was at the rear of the complex and small, but clean and equipped with everything we needed. The water was hot, there was good water pressure, and the bed was super comfy! Breakfast was excellent. They use an app to allow guests to pre-order the night before, then breakfast is delivered to the door at the chosen time the following morning. There was lots to choose from on the menu too! We definitely plan on staying here again as it was very good value for money.

Our name deceives us again! =P We are indeed located in Lower South River (just a 7 min drive from downtown Antigonish) and are totally still in Antigonish county, so we feel we can get away with it. Regardless of how transparent we try to make this for our guests, it's absolutely a bonus to have a lovely person such as yourself help to highlight this in the review section, because it will help us to get the word out. Also can we just say THANK YOU SO MUCH for this lovely review, it absolutely made our day and we can't quite express just how thankful we are, but we'll take a shot. First of all we appreciate you highlighting all the things we take a lot of consideration for, most importantly cleanliness and comfort! Huge shout out to the housekeeping squad for keeping the place spotless, and to the management for splurging on top quality beds. Also MASSIVE shout out to you for being such epic guests to take the time to give some love to the economy section! People tend to overlook it's quaint charm sometimes. As you so graciously said, it's equipped with everything one would need. Additional shout out for supporting a local & small business owner during these times, I think I can speak for my manager when I say THANK YOU, it means a lot. It's absolutely wonderful to hear you will stay with us again because we would love to have you again. Seriously - ANYTIME! Thanks again x 1,000,000 PS. We also think not being in the hustle & bustle of a downtown core is nice too, we like to believe that it's also both quieter and more peaceful.

My husband and I have been avid Coastal Inn goers since we have been 18 years of age and have never had an issue. We stay at this location whenever we are in the Antigonish area as a couple and always appreciate the cleanliness the motel provides, especially in these unprecedented times. This was our first time staying with our family and it will most certainly be our last.

At check-in time there was no parking in front of our door and were told to park at the next available parking space. This may be fine for a couple, but travelling with young children and being 20 feet away from your door with an abundance of luggage and coolers is certainly not convenient nor appreciated. The whole point of a drive up unit is to be able to access your room with ease.

When we entered the room the air conditioner was not on despite the heat wave and a humidex of 40. The temperature in the room was 27 degrees not counting the humidity. Having visited and walked Sherbrooke Village all day in the blistering heat with young children, a nice cool room upon arrival would have been ideal. The unit is also set to a minimal output so if you want it to be full blast you have to be repeatedly pushing the button at various intervals to keep the air flow at its maximum. It took into the early morning hours for the room to finally cool off.

At 9am we had a gentleman knock on our door to clean our room despite the check out time being at 11am. At 9:50am, we had another maid use her key to let herself into our room and excused herself when she noticed we were still there (the phone in the room goes a long way, just saying). If that wasn’t bad enough, when we started packing up our vehicle the cleaning staff was literally standing there waiting for us to check out so they could go in and clean, despite there being a number of rooms vacant for them to clean while we tried to organize our family for our next adventure.

The unprofessionalism shown at this property is so appalling I doubt we will ever stay at this franchise again. If you can’t wait for your guests to check out properly then change your check out time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate hearing from our guests and we are appreciative that you still highlighted our cleanliness. We're terribly sorry that you were disturbed twice in the morning by staff. I can ensure you this is not usual practice as well as is unacceptable, we will definitely be revisiting this issue with the team and will make sure it won't happen anymore. Thank you for bringing it to our management's attention. I appreciate you very much! We currently operate mainly through a virtual check-in and check-out program as well as a breakfast online ordering system since COVID-19 began, in order to create a better environment for our guests. It is more efficient, convenient and safer for our guests. Perhaps it could still use some improvements and more focus on the execution of the procedure. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We also know this is not an excuse for interruptions to happen or guests to feel rushed. We actually have a very clear and strict policy regarding housekeepers going into rooms to clean and we change the scheduled starting time for weekend visits to avoid disturbing guests. Thank you for helping us to offer better service and help future guests have a better experience staying with us. Regarding the Air Conditioner (AC), we will usually leave it for our guests turn on, on their own. We just keep room windows and the bathroom window open slightly to circulate fresh air, unless of course, the guest has requested a certain temperature for the AC. Friday was a very hot day… Your reminder will help keep this fresh in our minds for upcoming hotter days. Finally, 80% of our rooms are drive up rooms and we have lots of extra parking lot space for big trucks to park as well. For the 20% of rooms that are not drive up units, Usually guests can park outside the door long enough to unload their luggage and then choose a parking spot. Also, our desk or employees on site are happy to help if you need any assistance to move luggage. We can deliver breakfast to your door as well. Additionally, we always make notes on our files for our guests, especially repeat patrons to ensure their needs are met. If you were willing to give us another opportunity to host you, we would like to add your preferences to your file so we can be sure to meet your expectations better next time. Thank you!

This is just the location that we were looking for especially for a quick rest before driving the Cabot Trail through the Cape Breton Highlands! Our stay was made even better with the exceptional and friendly service that we received. The beds were very comfortable as well! Our host took the time to reach out to us to make sure that everything was taken care of well before our arrival. On top of that, they were kind and considerate enough to deliver our complimentary breakfast to our room to prevent us from having to walk out in the rain in the early morning! Couldn't have asked for a better pit stop on our maritimes trip! Thanks Coastal Inn Antigonish!

The new virtual check in was so easy and quick. My first time experiencing this. The room was immaculate. I love the 2levels with a king bed on top and a double bed on bottom level. Coffee maker, microwave, fridge and toaster in room. Hair dryer and iron too. With the system they have set up, you order your “FREE” breakfast the night before and tell them what time you want it and they deliver right to your room. If anything else is needed, just call and they help right away. Great value for price. Y second time staying here. Definitely will stay again!!

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful feedback with us. We are so happy that you felt the virtual check-in was easy & manageable. We did our best to implement something we felt would run smoothly. There are hiccups sometimes, but so far it's been mostly well received, and it does help to maintain social distancing. We also appreciate you highlighting our unique bi-level rooms, they are truly one of our best features. Fully equipped too! Just like you mentioned. We appreciate you so much, you really took notice of all that we have done/continue to do to make our guests' experience better, and we can't thank you enough for that. We look forward to the next time you visit again!

Stayed at this location last night & was truly amazed. Cleanliness was impeccable, front desk staff were amazing, and a full breakfast delivered to the room in the morning! Would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking a one night stay or extended. We had a king room & there were 2 beds on 2 different levels, perfect for families or couples travelling together. The price was great as well, well worth spending the few extra bucks to stay in the “newer” section as opposed to the “annex”. Unlimited supply of extra towels & amenities were a available & close by. Would highly recommend this place for anyone looking! Great job folks, keep up the great work!

We're so lucky to have such kind guests like you, thanks a million for taking the time to leave us such positive reviews. We are extremely grateful and it totally made our day! We're so happy to hear the contactless COVID process is being well-received. It was a bit of an adjustment, but the procedures our management have put into place have made it a smooth transition. We're also delighted to hear that we are able to convey a positive experience via less formal communication methods like text & email too. Lastly, we appreciate your recommendation immensely, and hope you'll come back to visit us again soon. Until then, we hope you have the best of days :)

Everything from my call to Nelson to book the room until checkout was excellent. We were away just for one night to celebrate my husband's birthday and they upgraded us to a King room- which gave us a nice little sitting area to relax and enjoy some wine and snacks before we went out for the evening.
The only suggestion I have would be for nights when snow falls overnight- perhaps use a shovel in the morning to clear the front of guests doors instead of a snowblower in case guests want to sleep in.
Top notch- we'll book again soon :)

Aw, thank you SO much for your absolutely delightful review :) It was really wonderful to login and see this post! I was so happy to be able to do all that I could to make it an excellent stay for you & your husband during his birthday! Glad that it provided a nice little escape for you guys to enjoy. Excited for you guys to come back again, we would love to have you anytime. Unfortunately, since the walkway is concrete/paved even the shovel will scrape against it and make almost as obnoxious of a gritty noise, it's a hard issue to tackle quietly. However, we totally have earplugs I can give you when you return, and I will definitely pass the message along to management to see what solution we might be able to come up with. Regardless, so stoked that you enjoyed the unique room layout and free upgrade, and all the best to you and your family this year. Until next time, please take care! PS. Thanks for the shout-out! - Nelson

Thank you so much for your interest in the Coastal Inn Antigonish. We are delighted to have caught your interest. We have only 1 room which is pet-friendly. Unfortunately that room does have just 1 Queen bed and is available in our backyard building. We do have rooms with 3 beds in our more recently upgraded front building but we don't allow pets in these rooms. Perhaps we can work with you to find a solution to make this happen for you.
