While the Holiday Inn Port of Miami-Downtown benefits from a strategic location that's been applauded by guests for its convenience to dining, the cruise port, and nightlife, the hotel itself struggles to meet expectations. Travelers consistently report that the establishment lacks value for money, highlighting overpriced amenities and accommodations that fail to impress. Detailed Reviews

Location: The hotel is approximately 15-20 from MIA and around five minutes from the cruise port. It is across the street from Bayside Market Place (total tourist trap and best avoided). There is a CVS within a five minute walk from the hotel and there are numerous restaurants within a five minute walk. Watch out for Uber/Lyft scooters littering the sidewalks. They are a real eye sore in Miami.

Check-in: It was quick and easy. We were upgraded to a larger executive room as my wife is an IHG member with a decent status. We received a voucher for a free drink as well.

Room: The room was spacious but very dated and worn. Our room faced the Bay and we had lovely views. Our room had two queen beds (inconvenient but we did not complain as it was a larger room than the kind room we had booked), a sofa, a coffee table, a desk, an office chair and if I remember correctly an arm chair as well. The TV had a good selection of channels.

Wifi: The complimentary wifi was adequate to check social media and e-mails. We did not attempt streaming anything.

Breakfast: Holiday Inn often offers breakfast as an add on when booking and we added it for $8 per day per person. The service in the restaurant was very slow at breakfast even though it was not even at 50% of capacity. We stayed for around half an hour the first day and our empty plates and glasses were not removed from the table. The food selection is fair, it is not excellent but perfectly adequate if you paid $8 for it.

Pool: The pool area was fairly nice.

Overall: You do not stay at this hotel because it is a great hotel. You stay here because of the location. You get far more bang for your buck if you stay elsewhere. It is a old run down hotel. The elevators are outright scary but the staff at the hotel are great and the location cannot be beaten.

As the title says, great location for pre cruise stay. It’s not a cheap stay. The hotel needs some updating, the rooms are dated and carpets need replaced. The breakfast staff and food is good. The reception staff not so good, we were in our room when another family opened the door with their card and said the room had been allocated to them. Reception didn’t seem that concerned about the mix up and shrugged it off. The hotel is clearly taking advantage of its location and cruise passengers and letting basic standards of cleanliness and customer service drop.

We booked a room for the one night prior to embarking on a cruise. On arrival the room smelled really bad, musty/mouldy and extremely unpleasant, so we asked to be moved. We had booked/paid a higher price for a bay view, but were moved to a room at the other side that did not have the bay view, with no refund of the price difference offered. Were told they were full and no more bay view rooms available. The room we stayed in was a good size and good amenities, however an extremely noisy air-con. Handy location to easily get to the cruise terminal. The next morning our original room had a DND sign, so looked like they had sold that to someone else, therefore disappointing that we didn't get the difference refunded. Concierge were very helpful storing luggage for us after checkout until we were ready to join the ship.

Got to hotel at 12:45 pm and our room was ready. Checkin quick and easy. Was assigned room 603- large corner room w 2 double beds and sofa bed overlooking bayside marketplace. No complaints about room. Everything was neat and clean in room, with nice Dove bathroom amenities. . No complimentary coffee or tea in lobby anymore, but there is a coffeemaker in room. The holiday inn sign is gone from front of hotel, and hotel will now be named Biscayne Palm. Changeover is in a month or 2 as I was told by front desk. But menus have new name on them. We have been to this HI many times and will definitely miss it as we always get on room with Ihg points, and location to cruise port, shopping and restaurants can’t be beat.

The only great thing about this place is the location.
Our flight was delayed and we had contacted the hotel to let them know we would've been checking in after 1 in morn. They confirmed everything was okay.
We got there and the doors were closed and the security stood outside looking at us. We expressed that we had a reservation then he slowly attempted to let us in. Didn't call any service to help with our 6 bags after asking if the bags were ours.
We checked in with NO welcome or greeting. Got to our room and one of the beds was soaking wet with PEE! It was nicely made up too with a note of the person who had "cleaned" it. We contacted the front desk and the guy casually responded, "Ok. I'm sending up another set of keys for another room." No apology, so remorse, no surprise. Absolutely no care.
The security brought the keys to us and we went to another room again bringing all our bags by ourselves along with the children.
The carpets were super dirty and the linens smelled funky in both rooms.
The time for breakfast they didn't inform us that children up to 12 eat free so we were about to be charged for 4, but the hostess caught it and adjusted the ticket. She was very annoyed as she expressed that seemed to not to care.
While we waited to leave for the cruise port, the clerk told us he would call a cab for us. I noticed he used his cell phone and was acting weird. A guy came with a high class SUV and said $55 to take us to the port. A regular cab driver heard the conversation and said that was too much. He then said $50 but we refused. The yellow cab told him he shouldn't be ripping off folks and he left. We took a yellow cab van to the port and it was $25. The port is less than 12 minutes from the hotel. The clerk had actually called this friend to take us and they were both trying to rip us off. He called that same guy to pick up some other guests prior but I guess they didn't realize they were being ripped off. A mess! I would not recommend this place.

The location of this hotel determined our choice. First of all, it was very expensive and did not include the cost of parking. Upon arriving, a hotel guest was shouting at the desk clerk for not providing him quarters with which to do his laundry. The laundry facilities are outdated and require quarters to activate. The concierge shrugged when the guest asked why he could not get help. I noticed however that another hotel employee was delivering food to the two clerks behind the desk. Why couldn't that employee be dispatched to bring change to the guest?
When we finally arrived to our hotel room, it was very noticeable that housekeeping was minimal. poor attention to detail. Guests returned to their rooms late and were very loud. We didn't use any of the amenities as we arrived late in the evening and left early in the morning.

We stayed here the night before our cruise. We dropped our bags in the room and went to a basketball game (which is very close). We returned later and wanted a shower and to go to bed after a very long travel day. Unfortunately that dream was crushed when the shower would not drain at all. We sat in our room for almost an hour while the maintenance man tried various things to fix it to no avail. He called it quits and started to leave. We had to insist on a new room as we needed to shower. So around midnight my family had to move to another room. When my husband complained the manager gave us 2 free breakfasts for our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teens).

We made it to the new room and found food in the mini fridge which was gross. It was an accessible room and the wheelchair shower was oddly on a downward slant which made water run into the main bathroom and required us to build a towel fence to keep it at bay.

Did I mention the rooms smell old and musty? Oh and there was no heat and it was 8C that night in Miami. We had to run the AC to keep the smell at bay but we nearly froze to death (and we are Canadian so we can handle cold).

We were supposed to stay here after our cruise but cancelled the reservation. I only give a 2 star because the manager at least tried to rectify the situation after we asked.

Had two King Suites before our cruise. The hotel is old but that part was nothing special, great before a cruise. However, the suites are missing a lot of amenities that other hotel suites have. They have a small kitchenette with NO utensils, not even a cup, not enough sugar to make a cup of tea, and I had my own tea bag. Calling the desk to confirm reservations took forever, as they don't answer the phone!!.As we were getting ready to leave they had some sort of drill, which housekeeping staff could not explain, as they spoke very little English. The guest were confused, no one knew if you could use the elevators. We finally just left. Great before a cruise and plenty of taxis available. But no longer than one night.

This is a great location that is close to the cruise port, airport and downtown Miami. The rooms are typical Holiday Inn style. Room could due with a few upgrades but it was clean and functional. There is no free breakfast but they do have a restaurant on site that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner during set hours. We had dinner there and it was just fine. Nothing special and menu was small. There is also a small pool but we didn't use it. Hotel was not operating a shuttle service. It was fairly close to the airport about 15 - 20 mins away and was about $20 with Uber. The cruise port was about 5 mins away and was around $8 by Uber. Across the street is a large park. Also across the street is an area that has restaurants, shops, bars and other activities. Worth a walk over there. We were there on a Sunday and a small market was operating.

Besides this area there are other stores and pharmacies within walking distance.

Would stay again.

I booked two nights, Wednesday night and Thursday night, at this hotel because I was working in Miami this week. It was the first time I've ever had to book a hotel room in Miami and I am not very familiar with the geography of the city, so I didn't know the best area to book a hotel in. This is a prime party area and is very busy, so it's not great for driving around. I passed the valet parking lot for guests and it took me at least 10 minutes to drive around the block to get back to it. For a hotel this size, they clearly need more staff. I called to ask if I could park in the guest parking lot before checking in and it took at least 10 minutes for someone to answer the phone. He told me I could park first (but did not mention I would be charged a parking fee).

The room was on the 8th floor and was nice for the most part. When I took a shower, I wondered why there was no hot water, why it was taking so long to get hot water. It turns out it was mislabeled. Even though the left side was labeled H and red and right side was labeled C and blue, I had to turn the handle to the right side to get hot water. I need it to be completely dark when I sleep, but the curtains unfortunately have a gap that lets light through.

When we were packing up to check out this morning, housekeeping knocked on our door three times even though we kept telling them we didn't need housekeeping. When we checked out, the young woman behind the counter was wearing a hoodie instead of a uniform. She also could have been more friendly and courteous. She could learn to say things like, "Thank you" or "I hope you enjoyed your stay". I won't be staying at this hotel again.
