If you are looking for an affordable getaway not far from Manila, then Laiya, Batangas is the place to be. Only 3 hours drive from the city with white sand not as fine (if you compare it with Boracay) but definitely promising and guaranteeing a good time for the family. We checked in at Sigayan Bay Beach resort - a homey style getaway with all the amenities that you need for a relaxing vacation. Our room was clean and they have the amenities that you need for cooking as well as for eating. We preferred to cook our own food to have that more home-out-of-home vacation feel. But they did have a petite restaurant where you can order should you prefer. Our kids enjoyed the sand with their sand castles and the shallow waters. They are a bit picky with beaches as they wanted clean and white sand for their sand castles.  The water was clean…and yes…cold.  The staff was friendly and very responsive to requests. You can also do snorkeling and island hopping which all of the family enjoyed. I just wish that we could do videoke after 10pm...Oh well, you can't beat the law. Anyway, thank you Sigayan for making our vacation memorable for us.  You may opt to visit their website http://www.sigayanbay.com/

At first, we were hesitant to stay here because there are lots of bad reviews for this resort. But travelling with a large group is more challenging if you want a budget friendly place that can cater to all of your needs.

The resort's staff were very accommodating upon our arrival. They helped us bring our bags in our room, they lent us some kitchen stuffs and they provided us with an extra fan without any charge (since the dining/sala of the unit is not air-conditioned).

We stayed at Corals unit located at the second floor, it has the view of the pool. The rooms were ok, clean with new sheets, and could accommodate more since they are using double deck beds (which could comfortably fit 2 pax per bed). One room is with a bathroom, the other bathroom is outside the dining area (it is smaller though). Kitchen is clean and is separated with a door, you can bring your own food and drinks by paying the corkage fee of 500 (thats all in, cheap right?).

But you need to pay 100 to use the pool. Bummer.

The beach is just ok. The shore is filled with plant-like leaves (you know those things that gets carried by the waves?) Although for me it is all good, since maybe that is just seasonal, and someone from the resort is trying to clean them while we were there. You can always go to the deeper part of the beach to enjoy swimming. :)

Sigayan Bay also has lots of kubo/cottage near the beach that you can use for free. You can also grill your food there. Lots of activities also like banana boat, jetski, etc.

Overall, there really isn't anything to complain about this beach resort. You get what you paid for. I will recommend this resort for big groups who are looking for a budget friendly accommodation. Its hard to find a nice place in Batangas that can squeeze 15 pax for just 12k, especially during the summer. So thank you, Sigayan Bay.

My friends and I had an unplanned weekend getaway. With only few days to prepare, we saw Sigayan Bay Beach Resort. A nice beach resort with an affordable price. I called the resort and made a reservation. Glad to talk to their friendly staff. We were a group of 11. We stayed in a room good for 14 pax with 3 double beds and two double deck beds. The room is cozy, has a good a/c and clean bathroom. You can also cook, the room we occupied came with a stove, water dispenser and grill. You just need to pay 500 as corkage for the food you will bring inside the resort. Nothing fancy about the resort, just the basics. Only a few minutes walk to the beach which is good. :) DO NOT EXPECT very white sand or very clear blue waters. It is not Boracay, Palawan or Bohol.

To sum it all up, we had a nice and stress-free weekend. Hope to do it sometime again. =)

Late post; January, we got a visit from one of our relative in the U.S. The last time they saw Manila was 50+ years ago. 1 week before they arrived, our Tita asked us to bring them to one of our beaches here in Manila. At first i thought of bringing them to Palawan but they said they just want to go to the nearest one that we can go to. I went straight to the internet to look for a place but i was not amused from the pictures that i saw. Then one of our close friends refered us to SIGAYAN BAY RESORT. At first i was sceptic because I have not seen the place neither a picture of the place. So we went straight to the place without checking on the pictures from their site because i trusted our family friend about how good and affordable the place was. When we arrived on the place, i was surprised on how we were entertained starting from the entrance to the villa. People were nice and accommodating. The place and the rooms were clean. And you don't have to worry about parking your car because they have a secured parking lot. Toilet doesn't smell and very clean as well. Flush were working and the water pressure was good. The price for staying there? WORTH EVERY PESO PAID! I recommend this place to Family's friends and specially for couples who just want to get a time off. here are some of the pictures i took from the place. Hope this review helps.

I (together with my partner) decided to celebrate our anniversary in a beach somewhere in Batangas and we ended up having a reservation in Sigayan Bay Beach Resort. We were expecting a nice and beautiful resort as seen in their website. The reservation officer was also then friendly and nice to us as we talked over the phone. We traveled for a couple of hours, excited as we head to Batangas... As soon as we got there, I started feeling disappointed because of the ambiance of the resort, it was a quiet place YES (because we were just FEW booked in the resort). The personnel were accommodating, YES (but not a reason for us NOT to mind the other things which made us really irritable and disappointed). We stayed for a few minutes in their office to wait for the personnel to prepare the room reserved for us (NIPA ROOM) which we believed was occupied. (BUT IT'S NOT) They told us that they will hand us the key for the room and the key for the CR located nearby the NIPA ROOM (supposedly for us ONLY), but the day ended without the key to the latter because they have misplaced it as per the personnel. It was lunch time when we got there, so feeling hungry, I asked where the restaurant is. One of the personnel told us that they have one but their COOK was not available at that time which really made me feel upset. It seems everything we need was not there and they just advised us to look for restaurants nearby their stupid resort. (I WISHED WE JUST BOOKED IN TO ANOTHER RESORT!) Because all that we need were to be found to ANOTHER RESORT. What we did? We ate at the "KABAYAN BEACH RESORT" and went to their office, find a room for us and reserved it for the next day because we were really disappointed with SIGAYAN. It made the two of us irritable for amost 20 hours!!! From the time we came in that resort (?), there were boats line up next to the beach.. There were fishermen nearby... actually "mangingisdang maniacs". I can't really wait for the next day to come because we were really pissed off with the kind of service SIGAYAN can offer, the ambiance of their resort(?), the room accommodation, the people surrounding our room. As we woke up the next morning, there was a sound of "walis ting-ting" in front of a nearby sari-sari store next to our NIPA room... there were people having their breakfast "tisismisan" in their own dialect. Imagine, we just made ourselves drunk just to sleep at that night we were in SIGAYAN. Then next morning, we were awaken by stupid people (not thinking of their guests)! SUCH A DISMAY!!! SUCH A NASTY AND HORRIBLE RESORT! MAJOR, MAJOR DISLIKE!!!

We were glad that there was an available room at KABAYAN BAY BEACH RESORT where we transferred and spent overnight... Much expensive that the CHEAP SIGAYAN but worth our stay because of the BIG & NICE ROOM, FRIENDLY MASSAGE THERAPISTS, and GOOD FOOD.

1. You can't swim in the beach. It's muddy and shallow. In the morning, when it's low tide, it's an ugly sight.

2. Since you can't swim at the beach, you'd be happy to go to the pool, right? But, you can't just go in there without paying Php100! Total BS! It's a RESORT!
3. There's a lot of flies because it's an open kitchen.

4. Their blanket is the worst! It's super thin! The curtain or the table top in my grandma's house is so much better!

5. There's NO TOWEL given! It's a RESORT!

6. AC is so noisy.

7. The beach "Resort" is right next to the fishing boats, so you won't really feel like you're in a resort.

Go somewhere else, instead. Somewhere nice where you can really enjoy the sea. If you're idea of family bonding by the sand only, then, this is your ok place to go. No, the sand isn't white.

Went here to have some team building activities.. yes we built our team against this resort.. thanks to the disappointing rooms where you feel like you were all stuck up in prison cell. You expect a beac resort with great water but you get murky waters. I personally got alot of itchy rashes immediately after swimming in their beach. If you want masa fun.. this is the place for you.. if you are looking for a team building venue.. i would stay away from this place. If your looking to relax.. you aint getting it here.. to top it all off.. the owner is the most arrogant person you can meet. All of these taken from our personal experience.

The sand on this beach is fine and nice to the touch. It is best to come here whilst there are still few people coming. What's good about this place is you can cook your own food, bring drinks as the cottage comes with it's own fridge, nice and cozy beds, clean toilets and baths. The water is shallow so if you just wish to move and wade around the water, this beach would be good for you. Lots of activities to do here too for groupies--boat riding, fish feeding, snorkeling, banana boat riding, speed boat riding. This is also a good beach to walk on as you have a breathtaking view of the mountains.

The resort personel were all accomodating and friendly. The place allows you to cook with a minimum corkage fee which i think is reasonable enough and provides you more flexibility. 20pax can be accommodated by their villas which is equip with toilet, open kitchen and dining area.

The pool was snall but good enough to relax however i suggest to include the pool fee on the room rate to avoid confusion. The beach area is shallow and kid friendly during daytime. If you are expecting waves this is not the location for you.

Overall, the price and place best fit for a family of 20pax on a budget.
