We booked into The Black Dog at Broadmayne for seven nights, and on arrival, were warmly greeted by Jack. We had a lovely big room, at the back of the pub overlooking the courtyard and play ground. This was ideal as we had our dog and meant we could use the fire escape to take him out for a walk at the end of the evening, or when the pub was closed. The key to our room fitted the outside door. The shower was enormous, but it could’ve done with a hand rail. The towels were large and fluffy, as well as the usual little bottles of shampoo etc, but we didn’t use them! The television was a small set up on the wall, depending on the weather and internet connection, you couldn’t see any programs! We asked Jack if we could have an easy chair in our room, and immediately he set about taking it up the stairs for us! Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was good and well cooked. Loved the scrambled and poached eggs. Evening meals were very large, and again well cooked, and very nice. This was a very pleasant stay, made all the better for the friendly staff. Thank you Jack, Jade, Donna and everyone else whose names we didn’t get. We were about ten minutes drive from Weymouth, and five from Dorchester. We would recommend The Black Dog at Broadmayne, and would definitely stay here again.

It was our first visit to the Black Dog Inn this afternoon, and we only wish we had found it sooner, all 5 adults enjoyed the extensive menu, which was full of a range of wonderful options, from light bites to full meals, to puddings. The children’s menu had a great selection too!
The staff were are all friendly and welcoming which made the visit, they were happy and chatty and very attentive.
The outside seating area was lovely; very spacious and very clean/well looked after, following all COVID-19 protocols, the little ones ranging from 3-8 years old had a great time exploring and playing in the amazing play area.
The food was delicious, the staff were lovely and the overall atmosphere was great, we will definitely be returning next time we are in time.
Thankyou, it’s a 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from us!!

We stayed for two nights this weekend. The location was perfect for our needs and the pub was friendly, welcoming and unpretentious. The room was large and recently decorated, as was the bathroom which had a great shower and huge fluffy towels. The 6ft bed was extremely comfortable. Access to and from the rooms via the well lit external metal fire escape close to the parking was useful when carrying luggage and returning late at night/leaving early. We had dinner in the pub on Friday night - outstanding pub food served by friendly staff. There were clearly plenty of local people eating there too, always a good sign. We will definitively return; everything was great, and the bill was very reasonable too. Thank you to all the staff.

We are a family of four adults and have visited here many times during our holidays to Dorset. Our last few holidays we have eaten here many times because the food quality and service were very good. This time we were very dissapointed with the food and service so we only visited once and would not go back. Strange as back in July the quality was very good here but it's sister pub the New Inn was poor, not it's the other way round, poor here and good at the New Inn. Perhaps there's a cook or manager moving around.

We stopped off here on our way back from Ringstead Bay for some lunch - and wow, we are so glad we did. We sat in the dog friendly bar area with our two hounds who were adequately fussed by staff and given treats! The staff are so attentive and friendly. The food portions are a really decent size, great value for money and REALLY tasty. So impressed - will recommend to friends and will most definitely be back as dying to try more of the food on the menu!!

We stayed for one night at the Black Dog. Loved this hotel. The staff are so nice and a good laugh. Rooms are lush and so comfy. Dog friendly bar and rooms which is a plus for us. Dinner was great and good sized portions and the same for breakfast. 100% would stay here again and recommend anyone to stay here or even pop in for a drink or dinner! Thanks for a great time!

I like staying at inns when I'm travelling alone or with my family and friends but choosing The Black Dog Inn for our recent overnight staying was a bite of work of chance as I booked in some last-minute decision. However, our experience was over satisfying and all of us as a family with young children were completely happy with The Black Dog Inn. I liked our family suit. It was completely clean and with good access to car park, playground, restaurant etc. It had a mini kitchen/sink in its hallway with two comfortable double bedrooms with enough space and brightness. Bathroom was shiny and clean with enough towels and toiletries too. There were some noises coming through windows because of pub guests who seated in beer garden but it was not too important. Though, there was not any mention about including the breakfast in our room booking, but actually it was included and superb. The English breakfast which was served were far better than many other English breakfast which we've had tried yet (and I have to confess that as a family we're English Breakfast lovers and try it wherever it's available!). The portion was big enough and quality and taste were brilliant, thanks to Welsh chef, Gwill. Our coffee was tasteful and we had served even with extra glasses of juice too. Our breakfast host, Diane was a nice and kind lady who patiently gave us enough time to make our mind and order our breakfast. In general, all staff were so kind, helpful and welcoming, Thanks to all. The bonus for our accommodation were its large enough car park, kids' playground and beer garden. Its restaurant is elegant and roomy too. Its location in cute Broadmayne village and good access to natural attractions of Dorset is another bonus. If you're staying there don't forget to give yourself a tour of the restaurant with its photos of old Broadmayne and Dorset area and I hope you're enjoying it as we did.

Six older chaps out for a lunchtime meal. Beer, wine and soft drinks all good. A variety of Starters, Mains and Deserts all well presented and tasting delicious. Nice internal surroundings that you might not anticipate from the outside. Certainly an overall winner with us.
