Stayed here for 3 nights post bike trip around Lac St Jean.
Location is unparalleled, with lawns sweeping down from property and overlooking the bay onto the St Lawrence river. Amazing.
Easy walking distance everywhere in town.
Lots of Adirondack chairs and shaded area for sitting ( it is a lot cooler than anticipated due to breeze off river)
1 tennis court and swimming pool also on property.
Large lounge area, off reception, overlooking the bay, which is perfect for reading and relaxing.
There are a few patios on the second floor, which offer great views of the bay but lack shelter from the sun. A few umbrellas during the day and candles in the evening would be a welcome addition.
Bar and restaurant offer good service and delicious food.
Negative issue is the lack of air condition in rooms - this was challenging during a few very hot days. Improved by opening windows, leaving curtains closed and use of fans.
We did have a river view, which was lovely, as could see the bay from table/ arm chairs.
We had to request toiletries and coffee/ tea for the room - a bit surprised at this, as it is a 4* hotel.
Carpets on second floor would benefit from shampoo treatment.
COVID has clearly been challenging for this hotel, like others but would return.

This hotel was lovely. From the outside, it really stands out quite majestic looking as a large, attractive building. There is ample parking and the front desk staff were pleasant and efficient.
The room was very nice and the bed and pillows were FANTASTIC!
Towels were great and so was the hair dryer (a good quality one).
The sea view was beautiful but the window (third floor) is tiny and is at one end of the room so you need to go right up to the window to enjoy the gorgeous view.
We only found a couple of shortcomings that we feel would be easy to rectify. There is no mini fridge in the room; I understand it’s possible to request one for a fee but this should be standard and complimentary, especially at this steep price point. Another detail that needs attention is the complimentary coffee in the lobby. We were there for two nights and both mornings, the coffee was empty. The first morning, it was 10:00 when we tried to get coffee; the second morning, it was 9:15; very disappointing.
The location of the hotel is excellent, within walking distance of many shops, restaurants, and walking/cycling paths.

With its lawns sweeping down to the bay, its spacious seating areas and large formal dining room staying here is like going back in time. It reminded us of holidays in the 1950s. It has a faded gentility which has a charm. And the staff were helpful: the room servicing policy was clearly explained and tea/coffee replacements, clean towels etc were available as described. But it is dated. The rooms are clean and functional but small . The bathroom is similar. There is no air con snd our windows did not open - not a problem on an early cold June day but might be an issue in high season. We did not eat there - there is an excellent cafe for breakfast just 5 mins away. The bar only opens in the evenings ( might be different in high season) which was a pity: we went out and did not return. Overall we enjoyed our visit but updating is required

The hotel is not only clearly past it‘s sell by date, it is severely overpriced for the ‚service‘ you get.
Rooms don‘t get cleaned unless you specifically let reception know in the morning that you want this service. Problem is that reception does not communicate this when checking in. Apparently the lack of staff means that guests now pay for the privilege of making their own beds.
In short: avoid this hotel at all cost !

We liked this old style Hotel for its great look and the very well kept exterior and the view. Yes - the insulation against sound and vibrations in the rooms is not the greatest, but that did not bother us much, neither did the small bath room. Important for us was the ambiance of the place and the great Restaurant with the friendly waiters and the really wonderful food. We ate twice in this restaurant and both times appreciated not only the quality of the meals but also the style which included cloth napkins, something you do not get too often in this country!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel that reminds you of USA's national parks with its large lobby filled with couches and chairs and tables for games. After walking around and dinner, my husband and family friend played a game of chess while others played cards and another person was working on a puzzle. It had nicely appointed rooms with TVs (not like US National Parks) with some having views of Tadoussac Bay. Right below the massive lawn are boardwalks above the beach and bay that are approximately two blocks long that lead to the Marine Mammal Info Center and farther down the road is the AML Cruise line for the whale watching cruises. (The cruise was great if the weather is good and no fog. We saw whales!) The beds and pillows provided a good night's sleep and the water pressure was fine. There is a restaurant on site that is large with a French theme and lovely murals on the walls. The food was delicious but be aware that breakfast buffet is great for getting on with your day whereas dinner is going be be a much slower process. It took an hour and half to have dinner. The restaurant has two steps down but they do bring out a ramp if requested. The lawn has Adirondack chairs with relaxing views of the bay. We also listened to a musician play his guitar and sing (mostly in French) during Happy Hour. There is only one wheelchair accessible room and that is only partially accessible. We appreciated this hotel after our busy time in QC and recommend staying here to enjoy the area and beautiful scenery.

Beautiful location and grounds. Food and staff lovely. Unfortunately did not honour our CAA rate - abut overpriced. Don’t recommend paying for waterfront room - window is small so you don’t see the magnificent view.

Beautiful, cosy and historical palace. One feels like on board of the Orient express. The check-in went very smoothly and efficiently. The next day the receptionist was very helpful assisting us to book a wales observation tour… The rooms are full of charm and very calm. On the negative side, we found that the beds are rather small and matrasses much too soft. Surprisingly for this level of hotels, the room had no fridge. Overall however, we loved this hotel for its historical touch of nostalgy and for its beautiful garden and stylish garden benches in front, overlooking the bay.

The management of the hotel use the excuse of trying to maintain the history of the hotel when any complaints are raised about its shabbiness. I’m reality all the furniture in our room, (none of which was of any historical value judging by the metal and bolts holding them together) was chipped and marked.

The public areas of the hotel are depressingly soulless, indeed my wife remarked that it looked like a care home, whilst the bar looks like it’s become the home of all the “lost furniture” over the last thirty years.

The outside facade of the hotel is superb, and what staff there are are friendly but looked overworked.

I know the management will say that they are trying to preserve the past, but the hotel needs a substantial amount spent on it to stop it from atrophying

Hotel Tadoussac is a beautiful, peaceful vacation spot. The archetecture and decor are subtley elegant and evoke the history and pride of Quebec. The grounds are beautifully maintained and there is nothing more relaxing than sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the sweeping lawn gazing at the lovely gardens and the harbor. The staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. We had a wondereful two days here and hope to return.
