We arrived very late around 1 am and had problem with our booking as we booked through 3rd party, but the receptionist was friendly & helpful and he did a great job to solve the problem.

The rooms are spacious with two big comfortable beds, microwave, coffee and tea and fridge. Bathroom are clean and spotless, strong shower and complete toiletries (soap, shampoo, lotion).

Continental breakfast are included and served at the small room at basement floor but good enough to start your day. The breakfast staff was good and friendly.

The hotel location was great, close to bus stop, subway and walkable to some tourist places in the city. There are small minimarket and coffee shop near the hotel too.

Overall, good hotel with reasonable price to exploring Toronto.

If you want to go shopping and tour the downtown, this is a great hotel. It is only a ten minute walk to the Eaton Centre and a twenty minute walk to the Air Canada Centre.

PROS - Nice, updated rooms, friendly staff and great location
CONS - Neighbourhood is not the cleanest and the hotel can be a little pricey during high season and there is no parking on site. You will need to walk a bloc to the Ramada Inn..

I have stayed her about 4 times and have never had any issues. There is also a Harveys and convenience store across the street.

There's not a whole lot to complain about at this hotel save and except for the fact that there's no parking, whatsoever, at the property. I stayed for two nights this past week and I have nothing, really, to complain about that's of any substance.

That being said, I do have a couple of small concerns. Firstly, I was on the 100 level which is actually in the basement of the hotel. As you might imagine for an underground floor, the hallway smelled a tiny bit musty but, to be clear, there was no hint of that in my room.

When they set up for breakfast in the morning, they put a sign up in the narrow hallway making passage difficult for all but the agile. The complimentary breakfast was fair but the scrambled eggs seemed a little overcooked. The staff are quite friendly but, when checking in, there was absolutely no one in the lobby to check me in and I and another gentleman had to wait for a long time (20 to 30 minutes or more) before someone showed up. The gentleman ahead of me couldn't check in at all because of some issue with his credit card and because they're not set up to take debit for some strange reason. He had to go across the road to an ATM machine.

In any case, I was able to park about a block and a half away at the Ramada Inn underground parking ($25/day plus tax). The hotel location isn't bad but you should be aware that it's in a bit of a run down area with working girls just steps from the hotel entrance and a provincial courthouse right next door. All told, I would recommend this hotel for anyone not too particular. I spent about $150/night, taxes in, which I found a little steep given the nature of the place. Normally, I stay at the Chelsea just three blocks away for about $25/night more and I think I will continue to do so.

You have to walk at least a couple of blocks to get to a good restaurant.

The last thing I will say is that, when getting back to my room after an all-day meeting, the chambermaid showed up at around 5pm tp make up my room. I had to go away and come back.

All told, this is a reasonable stay for what it is if a tiny bit overpriced. The free breakfast makes up for some of that, though.

The Toronto Comfort Inn City Centre is another (lower) midrange hotel that’s declared itself to be 100% no-smoking without cleaning decades of smoke stink off the walls and curtains in at least some of its rooms. My room just reeked of stale tobacco smoke. I was able to mitigate the problem somewhat by keeping the fan going full-time, but this wouldn’t work so well in January.

Everything else about the hotel was fine. Staff members were all very pleasant. The breakfast was fine. And the room came with a comfortable bed, toiletries, a refrigerator, a microwave (which I didn’t use), and adequate wifi.

The hotel’s location on seedy Jarvis Street might be offputting to some, but, hey, Toronto is a very safe place, and Jarvis Street is one block from Church Street and two from Yonge. The location was extremely convenient.

We chose this hotel for the central location. Only 10 minutes walk to Dundas Square and Eaton centre. All walking distance (20 minutes) to Central station, St Lawrence market, etc.
Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was excellent.
The self service laundry in the hotel was very handy.
Breakfast was good. Loved the waffle that one can make on the waffle maker. The breakfast room is not that big, so we try to have our breakfast early between 6.30 and 7 am, before the crowd.
In the room, there was the smallest cupboard we have ever come across in hotels. There was an ironing board in it and that practically took up the whole space! We could only hang 2 jackets in there!
Our room was on the 4th floor and we used the stairs instead of the lift as the lift was not fast, made a noise and shuttered!

This review encompasses multiple stays i have done at this establishment.
* This review will not only highlight my stay and my views, but it responds to some reviews and my statement on reviews in general.
First off, this hotel has a clean, fresh, contemporary-modern look and feel. it is also well secured with each level of the hotel requiring room key access to enter each floor of where guest rooms are located, and this is separate from the individual guest room door locks which is also key card secured (which of course is industry standard)
The hotel in my honest opinion is not treat fairly by reviewers. The hotel is not a four or five star establishment, and that is ok, they are not vying for that title. HOWEVER that does not mean the experience, services, and staff are poor or sub-par in any way.
To be honest i have a lot of visible disabilities and i am a young adult (22) and i do get treated poorly and not treated equally at times based on my disabilities and/or my age (and i pride myself with conducting myself in a respectable, courteous, and responsible way) , especially when i travel, and at this establishment the staff are friendly, accommodating, compassionate, and are extremely considerate and helpful in many regards. As a quick example, they accommodated me and going above and beyond (showing their compassion, among other things) when i did not coordinate my booking at the hotel with my flight which was later in the evening after check out, and provided alternative services to cater to an error that i made.
The rooms have always been very clean, well maintained, and generously furnished with comfortable couches, chairs, and beds. But i will agree with other reviewers that there is a musty smell (when i stayed last year) in the lower floor rooms, which in my opinion is very understandable possibly due to the location, but also because the issue can be EASILY remedied by turning the A/C unit on and on the fan only setting (which does not emit cold air if you should so choose this setting). And even if the air is cool, the room temp itself can be adjusted with the heater to create an air circulating room with just the right temp.
It's things like this that really bugs me when reviewers want to rate such a negative review on a establishment for something that can be easily remedied, even on one's own accord, while still taking into account the expectation of the hotel and rate you pay for. The musty smell issue, i did not even complain to the staff (who i knew would have assisted greatly anyway), i simply saw the A/C unit had a fan only setting which circulates air, and it worked almost instantly, no fuss. Guests i think need to be better, we need to be more patient, cooperative, and understanding and help situations out, especially minor one's like this and not jump out and write a negative review and rating based of a trifle of inconvenience which could be easily remedied. When writing reviews which can affect a business, stop, think, and think objectively. Compare and rate your experience with the hotel with what they are classed in, and stop and ask yourself, was my stay so bad and negative that i have to poorly rate and alert other guests from staying here, or should i give a fair rating but offer a suggestions or advice..
This is a point i would like to heavily raise as well. The hotel is not located in a shady or dangerous area. The area may seem intimidating, especially at night because of all the large buildings, but the area in my opinion looks the same as most parts of downtown Toronto and any other major city. The hotel is even literally located right beside the Ontario Court of Justice, which for me personally is a bit comforting.
The hotel has all of the general amenities you would expect, the WIFI is free, of high speed and is reliable. And there is daily complimentary breakfast staffed by a very friendly and helpful attendant. There is even a Tim Hortons and small grocery/mini mart literally located right opposite the hotel. And if you already did not know this hotel is located in a major city centre, hence the name, so expect to pay a little higher than a similar hotel in a suburban or rural area, it shouldn't be hard to understand this.
Thank you, and in conclusion i would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for (and this is my rating from my experience) a well priced mid-range hotel with two-three stars, which offers general at at time above average amenities and services, and who is staffed with great people, located in a city center.

I had a wonderful time here in January. The room was clean, comfortable and cozy. There was ample space for our belongings and I really liked the washroom as well. The sink outside was helpful as well along with a fridge and stove. I was able to heat up left overs which was so helpful.

The bed was comfy.

I thought the elevator was hilarious! I didn't mind how slow it was at all.

Morning breakfast was great, and the lady in the kitchen area was very friendly and helpful.

The staff at the front desk were also very nice!

I will be back in mid February for more fun downtown and I can't wait.

- building is a little dated; so the elevators and the overall interiors do show the age
- excellent location in down town Toronto; all major landmarks and business locations are highly accessible from the hotel
- there is a 24 hours convenience store right opposite to the hotel, which is a great benefit to have when you are not staying in a full service hotel
- room was nice and clean, but pretty much no frills
- no bathtub; for those who care
