Detailed Reviews

This is the best KOA in Ontario, hands down. The owner/operators are obviously very detail oriented and the camp is very well organised and maintained. Nice sites, good privacy, and a casual friendly feel to the place. It also has a large wooded area with a modest hiking path in it. Over all it 10/10 for glamping . Washrooms are impecable and the showers are better than home in most cases. No complaints here.
Very well situated to visit Sault Ste Marie which is a real plus. Fairly reasonable rates, although I find $11 for a milk carton of cut hardwood firewood too much. My suggestion is to charge 7 bucks and sell more wood.
I would definitely come back when in the Sault area.

Terrific RV and tent campground. Owners and staff are very friendly and professional. The campground is well maintained and has lots to offer for adults and children. The washrooms and showers are clean and are closed for an hour daily to allow for major cleaning by the staff. They accommodated our ´big rig’ (with advanced booking) and (as always) were most helpful during our latest stay. We make this an annual stop. This year we went specifically to enjoy the colours of the fall and were rewarded with spectacular displays. We stayed for 10 nights. The campground parameters and schedules are well laid out and following them makes for a most enjoyable stay. This park is dog friendly and we appreciate the folks that follow the pet guidelines. We highly recommend this campground - it’s in a terrific location close to town amenities (10 minute drive). There is some faint highway noise and a few trains - far less than most of the campgrounds that we have stayed in - certainly didn’t disturb our sleeping.

We decided to have a girls weekend (with my 7 month old son) at the KOA as a friend of mine has been staying there to be close to the hospital. The site was perfect the campground was beautiful and well looked after I was surprised at the space on our trailer spot. We had a great time but it rained all day Saturday so didn't get to use the pool (too cold for baby). I went to inquire about a late check out Sunday morning as it was sunny and would of liked to stay and swim and visit a little longer. The owner was VERY rude. Check out is 11 but advertised in their flyer said we could pay extra for a later checkout which we wanted to do.. he was rude and then proceeded to slam the door on me.. what a way to treat your campers. Was not impressed by the way he handled the request. Other than that all around was a nice visit to this site.

Guest wanted to stay for the day and use the facilities without paying for an additional night. The brochure states "Late checkout MAY be available upon request at an additional cost". When she inquired about a late check out, she was told that we try to accommodate late check outs in the event of an emergency, but as the park was full and someone was coming in for that particular site, she needed to adhere to the check out time of 11 am. In this instance, we were not able to offer a late check out, and this guest felt that was rude. The door was not slammed at any point. Guests need to understand that check out time is 11 am, and if they wish to stay and use the facilities later than that, they will need to book an additional night.

We requested side by side sites with family at time of booking, but when we arrived they refused to accommodate the request. The park was less than half full, with many sites available in our size/type (we both booked the same size/type). The water tasted strongly of oily rubber and chlorine, and was so off-putting that we purchased bottled water for our stay. And I know that the sewer connection has to go somewhere, but the sites are so narrow that the sewer hole for the next site is located 2 feet from our picnic table, on our only piece of grass. For the cost of the site, I didn't feel it was worth staying there.

Guest made reservation on line and had NO indication that he was travelling with another party; none whatsoever. When he arrived, he mentioned that he wanted to be near his friend, but the park was fully booked and we were unable to accommodate his request. He was angry the entire stay about that. Guests who park on the site, as directed by the site escort, have no issues with neighbouring guests. Water meets all requirements of Algoma Public Health, and in fact, an inspection was done within the past few weeks. Suggest that guests purchase a new water hose to eliminate the oily rubber taste.

We booked and stayed here for 1 night (2 couples with 2 travel trailers) and although it is conveniently located we felt it came up very short of our expectations. This very expensive campground has need of road maintenance. It rained very hard during our stay and the entire road network was virtually under water. We got soaked just trying to navigate on foot within our own, tiny campsite.

We have had torrential downpours for days on end, which plays havoc on our roads. This is completely out of our control. Photos of the campground and sites, and further reviews, are available on our website.

Really nice park. It deserves the awards for both the facilities, the grounds and the staff. All very professional and friendly. It does seem that folks with dogs will really find this park made for them. Dog training areas, dog walking areas, dog grooming…if you don’t have a dog, pretend you do so you’ll fit in better. Absolutely a nice place

Nice decent sized campsites but the showers are fabulous. Lots of pressure and hot water. The washroom and shower area were spotless. This is the best we have seen at KOA campgrounds in the USA and in Canada including Provincial Campgrounds. The other nicety is this campground is far away from the highway and very quiet, not like a Provincial Campground about an hour away.

Very clean park, unfortunately manager or owner leaves much to be desired. We set up for 2 nights and had a visitor who was staying for a couple of hours. The cost to visit was going to be $24.00 for this person. She questioned this charge and was told it she waited until 6pm it would be $5.00 since it was 5:50 pm yes she waited. Paid the $5 then they asked for another $5 for her car. I assumed that was to park on our site. Next thing the owner was at our site telling my friend and is we are kicked out with a full refund. Nobody questions her rules! She repeated herself scolding is got the next 15 minutes, wouldn't listen to us we tried to tell her we misunderstood and would move the car. After listening to her for 15 minutes with no sign of her stopping I swore at her at which point she called me foul mouth birch and told me to get out now. Start walking! I did not leave at that point we began packing up to leave

Nice, clean park, but watchout for the Karen, the owner, she is nuts, rude and does not know how to approach the public. We were ordered to leave because we had a visitors car on our site. I was NOT told one car per site, only that there was visitors parking at $12 per person, $12 per car. That does seem unreasonable for a person who just wants to come and say hi to an out of town friend / visitor.
I offered to diffuse the situation by moving the second car, but that wasn't good enough.
The Karen just wanted to scold us, was confrontational and downright belligerent, just on an obvious power trip. We did not need that, had just set up, and I told her I had not read her rules yet.
Some people just should not be dealing with the public I guess. She seems to have a real problem, and it is not her customers!

I love this campground. Everything is always top knotch. A big shout out the person that returned my folding stool to the office and a big thank you to Mike for bringing it to my trailer.
