Horstman house was a welcome stay from where we would normally stay. The Staff was friendly and welcoming. Our one bedroom unit was very spacious and clean with everything we needed for our ski vacation. The kitchen was fully stocked and the unit had a king bed and a washer/dryer. Most other places we have stayed have a queen bed and a washer/dryer in a common area. It is a very quiet location and the hot tub and pool are surrounded by tall evergreens making it feel so secluded. It is ski in at the end of the day however not ski out. In the morning we would walk out of our hotel, hop on the bus that would come as scheduled and 2 stops later get off and ski to the slopes. Also a short walk to the village along the paths. Parking is included which is a bonus (other places we have stayed charge up to $25 per night). Horstman house is excellent value for the price.

This place is amazing! Super value for your money!! It is located in upper village, just a couple of bus stops from Blackcomb Mtn, where we took our kids to ski school and really close to Whistler Village too.

The bus stop is right across the street, and the rides come every 15 minutes for free, no need to rent a car!

The place is very clean and you have everything you need. Lots of room and a complete bathroom in each room which was a plus for our family of 8!!!

It said housekeeping, but it is only more of a “change towels, empty trash” kind of service, which didn’t really bother me. Washer and dryer in each unit, and they supply clothes detergent daily, as well as dish soap, and shampoo...

Craig Loucano helped me throughout my reservation and was amazing! Extremely helpful and patient and was always in the best disposition!! Excellent service in all aspects!!

We will definitely be coming back here next ski trip!!

Great location, bus is right across the road and there is a ski out that takes you back to the property.
Unit are well maintained, pool and hotub are also nice.
We also liked that it was a smaller property with no noise.
Walking distance to the village.

Strongly recommend against staying at this place. We reserved Horstman house this year for checkin on March 12, 2020 for 7 nights. Due to Covid-19 the Whistler resort shut down and, also, all cleaning staff at Horstman house, stopped working. Due to this situation we had to check out 4 days early and catch a flight back home to Ottawa, Canada.
Horstman House refused to offer any refund for the 4 days that we could not use due to the resort closure under extreme circumstances. They even refused to offer a credit for a future year. Just pocketed our money. Absolutely disgusting.

Although this property has 1 free parking spot per room, some of the assigned spots are impossible to get into. I found myself having to park in the village in lot 5 & walk the 1.5km uphill back to the property. Rooms slept 6 & the bedding was some of the cheapest I've ever encountered in my travels. The sheets were loud when you rolled over. The doors both inside the room & outside are very old & loud when closing.

It's a great concept if you're doing a longer stay as there is a kitchenette with dishwasher & laundry in the room. All basic needs were met with coffee & bathroom amenities.

Front desk staff had limited hours & weren't present the times we went down to ask questions.

Room appeared clean though

Thank you for taking time to review your stay. We appreciate the feedback you provided, it is our goal to offer a comfortable accommodation for our guests to feel at home so we are glad to know about your experience so we might make improvements. It is true that parking can be tight especially if you have a larger vehicle. Thank you for providing information about alternative parking should future guests find themselves in a similar situation. We hope you enjoyed the area and had plenty of time to explore!

Amanda wrote a review Jan 2022
I made a reservation at Horstman House, in Dec 2020 for my family as a Christmas gift. Unfortunately, we were unable to go at the time, due to Covid-19 restrictions.

I requested a refund, however management noted that refunds were against the policy at Horstman House, and offered me an “accommodation credit” instead.

The manager stated that we had up until April 2022 “end of the season” to use these credits.

As travel restrictions had eased, I decided to contact Horstman House in Dec 2021 to make a reservation for my family.

When I spoke with the front desk staff, she reported that she had to “look into the use of my credits”, noting that they had expired after one year (December 2021 - not April 2022).

This employee also noted that since my original booking, the policies at Horstman House had changed, stating that I could only make a reservation, if I agreed to the new “3 night minimum” requirement, and pay the difference in price. This of course was a significant increase in cost on top of the credits I already had.

I inquired about staying at a less busy time, but she stated that it didn’t matter, the 3 night minimum was still a requirement and I would have to pay the difference.

I wondered if I could transfer my credits to my adult son (he could pay the difference) as he was heading to Whistler for a ski trip, she reported that she didn’t believe that transferring credits was possible.

The staff member shared that they would contact me the next business day (after she checked about the rules around use of my credits), but I did not hear back.

Since then, I have emailed Horstman House and called several times leaving messages regarding a refund or a possible reservation - again, no response.

I am incredibly disappointed that Horstman House has dropped the ball, over and over.

I hope that future guests receive better customer service and I recommend (at least during Covid) that they seek other accommodations, where resort policies are clear and customer service is highly regarded.

What a waste of money for my family. 😔

Hi Amanda - thank you for taking the time to write this detailed review. First, we would like to offer our apologies for your frustration and disappointment. We understand that with the changing scope of COVID-19, it has been difficult over the past two years to book travel and navigate changing plans. It’s important to us that we offer our guests transparency on our policies when planning their vacations in order to avoid confusion or disappointment. With that being said, our policies are occasionally updated and we apologize that the minimum stay requirements caused a snafu in your rebooking process. While we try to be as flexible as possible, we appreciate your understanding that we have to uphold our policies across the board. This feedback is useful, though, as the satisfaction of our guests is of paramount importance to us. We hope that you’ll give the property another chance - we would be happy to help you book your stay and review any and all policies if you give us a call at (888) 621-1177.

We had family trip to Whistler last week, I chose to stay here based on reviews, but my expectation turned into huge disappointment due to lacks of overall cleanness and maintenance.

First of all, the property wasn't really ready for new customers to checked in. The initial condition of the room was really terrible. I was shocked about the fact that they didn't even check and fix the problem including broken shower booth door which was not closing, broken fan, window screen, etc before welcoming next traveler. I had to call the front office to report all the issues, and they sent me the repair guy the next morning.

The cleanness was also disappointing. The kitchenware was not cleaned appropriately, I had to wash it all again by myself.

They say they do have enhanced sensitization procedure throughout all common area, rooms during COVID on the advertising, but I strongly don't think they were responsible doing decent job on managing the site.

There were not enough parking even though the customers were supposed to secure designated spot, since the gated parking lot is shared with many other owner's reserved parking.

Front desk is not available all time, if you arrive later than their work hour, you have to go to other address to check-in, that was very inconvenient as well.

Making our reservation went well, so we looked forward to our three-night stay. But from check-in onward we were disappointed. Staff were indifferent even though early in our visit I expressed our concerns in person, by email and by voice mail (because no one answered their phone). Also, their parking spaces are too small, and sound is somehow amplified when you're on your deck so you hear people's conversations, conflicts with their kids, and their boom-box music, whether you want to or not. The swimming pool is also a significant source of noise, especially on Saturday evening. It was not a relaxing experience. It's a nice building though, and a good location half way between the Upper Village and Lost Lake.

The Horstman House is one of my favourite places to stay while I’m regularly in Whistler for both work and personal trips. It has the quaint and cozy ski chalet-style vibe that you would hope for and ideally expect when staying at the base of a ski resort, and the rooms are incredibly comfortable and spacious, making it a great place for families and/or a couple(s) to stay at. It’s a little further outside of the village in comparison to many of the other great hotels in Whistler, but it makes up for it with privacy and a sense of peace and tranquility (particularly in the forested pool area) in comparison to the noisiness of the main village. Arielle, Kelly and the rest of the staff are beyond warm and welcoming, and as a result—combined with the fact that it’s a smaller hotel than some of the bigger (and much more expensive) ones in the heart of the village—they’re both willing and able to help with whatever you need in a prompt and friendly way. So if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway to one of the best places to visit in Canada, be sure to give this place a shot. You won’t regret it.

My husband and I generally enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and cozy private patio. There were also many helpful things for guests to use in the space, such as a washer/dryer/laundry soap, and kitchenware. The main area of the building was also clean and cozy with a beautiful central fireplace. If you bring your own bike lock, there is also space to lock up your bike.

The things we found a bit unfortunate with our stay were how cramped the parking garage is (as mentioned in other people's reviews), and our room didn't seem very sound proof (we were in the room right beside the pool and could hear people in the hot tub, as well as hear people in the unit above us).

Most of our stay was a positive experience, but we actually wouldn't stay here again, as the parking garage was so tight and hard to maneuver, even with a small vehicle.

Hi Melanie, The Horstman House is Ski In only, dependent on snow. As Stephanie has stated above, there is a free public bus that runs very regularly in Winter and takes roughly 5-10min to Blackcomb & Whistler Mountain bases respectively. Please don't hesitate to contact the Horstman House for more information or to book, on 604-935-3495 or 1-888-621-1177. Best regards, Phil The Horstman House/Whistler Premier Resorts
