Just absolutely incredible. This has to be one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in! Best of all Santa Monica.
We are avid travelers and hotel connoisseurs. We have stayed in many Hilton properties across the country and internationally. We have also stayed in many high end luxury hotels. This beautiful boutique hotel has to be up there in our favorite list.
It use to be an apartment or condo complex which they gutted and turned into this boutique hotel. There’s a pool in the middle complete with spa and gym. It’s the most quietest hotel we stayed in LA. Beach is literally across the hotel. You can also jog the short trail in front of you.
We were able to use our Hilton points and free night stay here as Diamond members. We were able to get a corner suite which was enormous for a beachside hotel. I literally had low expectations since most hotel rooms near the beach are small. This was a gorgeous suite. Cushioned and super clean carpet. 2 couches with a spacious living room area. The fridge was full of drinks as well as the wine/drink storage cabinet. Bathroom was huge! It’s always a plus when you have bathrobes and slippers available. The bed was super comfortable and the air never shut off at night! I slept so well. Also plenty of pillows!
Breakfast was delicious! I had the açaí bowl and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Everything was so fresh! Staff were so friendly and attentive. I love eating outside even though the restaurant was beautiful inside.
Service here was on point!! From when you arrive, to front desk, to restaurant staff, to maintenance. Everyone was so kind and helpful!
We really like the bellhop/valet guys- Dan and Lenny. They were so nice all the time! Made you feel at home and always getting the doors for us. Definitely best hospitality we ever got from staying in LA county. People nowadays don’t do what they do on a daily when you stay at other hotels. America has lost this hospitality service in some properties. But they were exceptional every time.

In the middle of the pandemic I needed to help my daughter and her family move from NYC to LA. Many people advised me to stay at the Oceana and I am so happy I listened. From the minute I arrived and was taken to my suite to the day I checked out I experienced outstanding service and felt very safe. The hotel has been completely redecorated and is absolutely stunning. Sophisticated yet warm and comfortable. The pool area is immaculate and delightful from sunrise to sunset. This truly was an oasis from a storm. I was able to easily order from many of the top restaurants in the area and have food delivered to my door or enjoy my meals at one of the beautiful outside lounge locations. There is so much to do in the area despite COVID since you are right across the street from the beach you can walk and walk, go for hikes, rent bikes and more. I also find this location preferable to Shutters, it is less crowded and cleaner by the beach.

First time visitor to this property and what can I say but that we were impressed. Beautifully decorated hotel, great service, delicious breakfast (& pepperoni pizza), drinks, friendly staff. We had booked the property through AmEx Fine Hotels & Resort program to get the "extra" amenities, though as a Hilton Diamond Member we would have received breakfast anyway, but the property credit was a nice add on from Amex. We loved the design of the property and the rooms, clean, efficient, elegantly furnished....
We had booked a Penthouse Lanai Suite, which ended up being 309, which was lovely. Only thing missing was the ocean view, but the water was visible if you stood on the balcony and stuck you head out. Upon check in we were offered an "upgrade" to an ocean facing room, but it was much smaller so we didn't take it. I spoke with Melody at the front desk several times before arrival and she was super friendly, efficient and genuinely seemed to love her job at the property. She took fantastic care of us the entire stay, chatting and visiting with us each time we departed or arrived at the property.
The staff at the restaurant was great. I had read a few reviews of being short staffed and delays, but we didn't experience anything that put us off. They did appear to be extremely busy, but everyone worked in unison to see that guest's needs were being met, even though the restaurant staff were managing the pool area, room service and the restaurant all at the same time. Frankie in the restaurant/bar makes a mean espresso martini with a smile (delicious). Michael, David and the other young ladies in the restaurant seemed to go out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay and enjoyed our meals. Word to the wise....the chilaquiles and breakfast burrito are HUGE and could easily be shared (delicious too). Our compliments to the chef. The “bar” area on the 3rd floor with direct ocean view was a great place to hang out and visit with other guests in a comfortable, clean, well designed setting.
The location of the hotel is fantastic, close enough to the pier and restaurants, but not so close you feel like you are overrun with tourists. The front desk assisted us with meal reservations, which we enjoyed greatly (Forma Restaurant; Meat on Ocean).
When we travel to LA, we generally stay in Beverly Hills or Hollywood, but we so much enjoyed our stay at this property we will most certainly be back (actually already booked a return for Sept).
Thanks to one and all at the property for making our stay memorable and great.
Not that I complain, but generally I can find something that can be improved upon at our hotel stays, but that was not the case here...this was a perfect 10 for us…highly recommended.

My husband and I returned to the Oceana for a weekend of celebrations in LA. We were greeted as if we were family returning home! The staff is not only warm and welcoming, they are helpful and efficient in assisting with any and all of our requests. They directed us to great shopping areas and assisted with hair and make up reservations. The breakfast and lunches at the restaurant were exceptional. Everything was fresh and healthy, prepared with love using California’s finest ingredients. Frankie, who is a waiter/bartender extraordinaire introduced me to a vodka mojito topped with Champagne! I now have a new drink of choice!
At full capacity for Oscar weekend, the Oceana ran as a well oiled machine, The increase in guests did not diminish our stay in the least. The beautifully renovated rooms with exceptionally comfortable beds and pillows, were cleaned to perfection each day. All of our needs were met and we loved the excitement of seeing celebrities enjoying the intimate setting that the Oceana offers to them. The hotel prides itself on providing safe haven to a number of celebrities who return again and again! We checked out on Sunday, but a friend who stayed through Monday sent us a picture of an Oscar proudly being displayed around the pool area by one of the winners! A fitting image as the Oceana is clearly a winner!

Just returned from our first stay and the newly renovated and reimagined Oceana. Wow. Every detail is very well thought out, the rooms are more elegantly appointed than ever and the service is out of the park.
From the moment you walk unto the front door you are made to feel like you are back in your home. The rooms have so many warm touches that you feel like you are in your home away from home.
The pool area is magnificent and the restaurant is more beautiful than ever and all of the food we had was exceptional. Can’t wait to go back. Well done. Congrats.

My wife and i just returned from the Oceana and were totally pleased with every part of our hotel experience. We are Hilton Diamond members so we get to experience many Hilton properties. We were greeted at the front desk by Lily who was so warm and sincere. She acknowledged our Diamond level, offered us cold bottles of water, explained breakfast times and many other parts of the hotel. Mario (Valet) quickly took our bags to our upgraded suite (courtesy of GM Young Yoon). Mario explained the workings of the room and placed our bags on luggage stands. The staff is constantly asking what can they do for you and really mean it. We also had great staff experiences with Melody and Jennifer (front desk), Lenny (valet), Frankie and staff in the restaurant and many housekeepers. Our suite felt like our own home with plush wall to wall carpeting, one of the most comfortable Hilton beds we have ever slept on, two large (65" & 60" ) TV's, one wall of books to read and a huge bathroom. I eat oatmeal every morning for breakfast and I can honestly say the oatmeal I received each morning at the Oceana was the best I have every had!! We felt like we were staying with family. The staff is simply out of sight! The hotel is directly across the street from the Pacific and very well maintained beaches with walking paths on the beach and at street level. GM Young Yoon referred us to 4 restaurants during our stay which all turned out to be terrific! Young was trained at a Switzerland hotel school and it shows! He is the consummate professional. When my wife and I had to check to return home we both did not want to leave. We were made to feel so special like no other hotel experience we ever had. Oceana only has 70 rooms/suites and for us it didn't feel like the typical cookie cutter large property. The pool is heated and as soon as someone would vacate their pool lounge chairs someone on the staff would quickly tidy up the area and place fresh new towels on each chair. If you want to feel spoiled the Oceana is for you. We cannot wait to return.

As I pulled up, I was greeted immediately by Leeland, who was 100% present, professional and helpful. He asked me my name and recognized the reservation my name was under. I was greeted by two lovely ladies, named Hana and Sally, who were also very gracious and helpful. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant and were served by Michael and Frankie. Israel brought us a coffee machine. After dinner, we needed to have our room made up and Susanna brought extra blankets and sheets and towels and was also so very sweet. The hotel itself is quite beautiful and the ocean view suite is just gorgeous. Overall, our stay has been just wonderful.

The adventure began as we pulled in front of the Oceana on February 6th and were immediately met at the curb by welcoming staff. You then step into an amazing lobby to check into your room (209 for us) then head out the doors into a scene from a Hollywood set. A rectangle of room fronts with seat swings and glass doors 3 floors high with a pool and cabana area centered in the middle with fire pits aflame. Pretty incredible. Our room was a one bedroom suite. Warm cookies were waiting for us in huge living room including 3 couches, a large tv, and incredible décor. It has a separate bedroom with a door that closes. We had a king poster bed with another huge tv to enjoy Netflix. A luxury bathroom included as well. The location is right on Ocean Ave. You walk right down to the beach and on to the Santa Monica Pier if you like. The view is breathtaking. Service was excellent including turn down service every day. We ordered breakfast each morning in a glassed in picture window set overlooking the Pacific. Food was great. Only had dinner one night in the hotel as there are so many excellent restaurants in the area, but we were to tired one night so dined with friends in the hotel. Eye catching menu with really good food and great atmosphere. You may even see a celebrity or two. We did!!

Would highly recommend the recently renovated Oceana in Santa Monica. The location on Ocean Avenue is choice: Views of and easy access to Pacific Ocean, far enough from Santa Monica Pier to have natural ocean feel and close enough for short walks to restaurants, shops, etc. and in charming, outdoor-oriented lifestyle of Santa Monica.
Property is small enough to feel intimate and enable easy interaction with the numerous staff and large enough to support adequate sized swimming pool and fitness room. The furnishings were new and the classic black and white portrait photographs in room connected to the Hollywood of Monroe, Brando, Newman, etc.
And the staff was fabulous and couldn’t be more helpful, friendly and accommodating. The entire staff, without exception, provided excellent, high-touch service! Special call-outs to Brenda at the Front Desk, Carlos and Leonard on the Valet staff, and Antonicella (sp?) in Housekeeping for providing the type of proactive, high touch and friendly service that made us feel at home and cared for!
Highly suggest checking out the the Oceana if looking for a vacation hotel in the L.A. area with excellent service and you enjoy an outdoor lifestyle, like the beach, and want easy access to many excellent restaurants, with many choices for healthy eaters, Vegans, and Vegetarians.

While initially apprehensive about travelling during covid, all my concerns drifted away when I checked into this beautiful luxury oasis. With an incredibly attentive staff and strong commitment to safety and cleanliness, I cannot imagine a better place to stay during this quarantine time. Smart utilization of outdoor space makes elevator use optional. With a serene, relaxing and private environment, the zen feel of the large brand new rooms and iconic pool area were a welcome reprieve and made my trip really feel like a vacation. Biggest surprise - the restaurant knocked my socks off - wow! And the rooftop is a breathtaking site to enjoy a socially distanced cocktail! I will certainly come back, maybe even soon for my upcoming anniversary!

Have a stroll out of the hotel along the main drag, plenty to see and a nice walk down to the pier sounds like the plan! The Water Grill is a good option for lunch. Enjoy!!
So, we got a room with an outside balcony - not one that opens up to the pool. We did walk past the rooms whose balconies had the swings and expansive doors that open up to the pool - so that is not very private. If you're looking for privacy - ask for a room that does not open to the pool..... but having those swings looked kind of nice. But really, I wouldn't have wanted to keep those curtains closed to maintain more privacy. IT is not loud however, because most people who have kids who would be running around and noisy don't tend to stay there. I love it and can't wait to stay again.
There are more places to choose from in the Santa Monica area.
