We found The b akasaka-mitsuke on accident when we initially wanted to book the b shimbashi but by the time we got to booking all the rooms had been booked.

The b akasaka-mitsuke is a good little hotel, it served us well and it was situated right around the corner from the akasaka-mitsuke station. Be warned the rooms are quite small, if you planned on doing any form of activity relating to your stay in your room you may find it difficult, but if you're purely using the room as a home base to start and end the day, it's perfect.
The staff are warm and friendly, it's a very short walk from an amazing little bar called Izakaya Sanzoku. It's right near some convenience stores and pharmacies, and there's a huge Bic Camera where the station is.

All in all, a very good little hotel room for our 5 nights. A little bit more room would've been nice, but for me personally I didn't mind at all, the price is good and the location is fantastic.

Hotel is located in Akasaka area surrounded by plenty of restaurants, bars, etc.
The metro (Nagatacho station) is a 1-2 minute walk away and you can choose between 4 different lines (Ginza Line, Marunouchi Line, Hibiya Line and Hanzomon Line)
A little Shrine and the Emperor’s palace are close (walk 8-10 min)

Staff was very friendly, we shipped our baggage from our last hotel to them directly. Was no problem at all. In the lobby you get a free coffee to go
Room was okay - it was bigger than the rest we had and it was mostly clean, at some places it was a little dusty.
Towels are changed daily, making the bed and cleaning is every 2nd day and upon request

They do not have an own restaurant but an immediate connection to the Excelsior Cafe where you can choose between 4 breakfast options. There cafe is is open to public and it was always very busy.

Vending machine and a coin laundry are located on the 2nd floor

I was a little dubious about this hotels position to begin with but it actually suited us very well indeed. It is literally 2 minutes away from the station which we used as the hub to travel all over Tokyo, because it isn't one of the busier stations we usually got seats. Our room was very small but spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, we were on the 5th floor close to the lift but weren't bothered with noise at all. There is free coffee and occasional donuts on offer in the lobby and a small breakfast room. We didn't eat breakfast so can't comment on that. However, the memory we will take away from our visit will be the friendly, helpful staff who did everything they could to make our stay a comfortable and pleasant experience. They arranged for our luggage to be sent to our next hotel, helped us find restaurants etc and gave us lots of useful information. This hotel was reasonably priced with no frills but just what we needed for our Tokyo stay.

The bathroom fan wasn’t working, so the small room smelt so bad. Poor internet connection, unusable night and day. Cleaning not great. Not useful for business or tourists at all. They should focus on improving basic hotel services and cleanliness.

Even if the position of the hotel is ok, unfortunately the experience we had is far from ok. First of all the room is so tiny that we couldn't even open one suitcase, and there isn't any wardrobe. The window can't be fully opened for safety reasons but mostly because it faces a wall. The bathroom has a window... facing the room! Which only disturbs the person who is sleeping if the other goes to the toilet and turns on the light. Even considering all of this, the worst part has been the communication with the staff: they don't know English and even if they fully understood our needs (helping us with our booking of the bus to the airport and calling a taxi) both times they said we should manage by ourselves. Well, I honestly think this is a shame for an hotel in Tokyo. Spend your money somewhere else!

Close to subway, bars and restaurants. Helpful staff. Clean, well kept and felt safe.

However rooms are small, particularly if in the end of run on a floor. When
In the corner room there is even less space

Coffee in reception was great.

Convenience stores close by as are lots of restaurants

As many other people have said this hotel is in a great location. We arrived in Tokyo after a very long flight and it was raining! We found our route on the subway very easily, stepped out from the station and consulted our map, a few yards and a right turn later we saw the hotel tucked away on a small side street. Very easy to find and just steps from a very central subway station. It was a good start!
The rooms are typical Japan sized hotel rooms, small, compact but very comfortable, we stayed at the beginning of our holiday for four nights and for our final night a couple of weeks later. Both visits were very comfortable but we enjoyed our first room more as the bathroom was a "normal" bathroom, a sliding door into the room which contained a large walk in shower cubicle, loo (Japanese, very high tech,) and washbasin. On our final night we stayed in a room with a "cubicle" type bathroom which you step into, this contained a short bath with shower over the bath and the loo was a little less high tech! We definitely preferred the first room, perhaps they are remodelling or updating rooms? Not sure - but the step up bathroom was less pleasant and I am glad we didn't have this for our 4 night stay.
Staff are friendly and very helpful and polite. The Excelsior cafe attached was lovely, we found something for breakfast everytime with no issues. Don't expect a "full English", we had croissants, egg sandwich, light continental style breakfasts.
A lovely stay, so very convenient for bars (high ball on the corner is great!) restaurants (Spanish Tapas just around the corner!) Seven 11 and a supermarket just two minutes away, and the subway for sightseeing. It would be our first choice for a return visit to Tokyo.

The hotel does have small rooms that is correct, but they have a great shower, powerful and instantly warm. The window in the bathroom does disturb slightly at night but hey, if that all there is to complain about then I’m happy!

Staff were friendly and spoke sufficient English. We liked the location, good to get anywhere in town and also a few food bars and tea Tirana’s in the doorstep as well as a 7/11 for provisions.

Didn’t have breakfast but the hotel does offer free tea and coffee in the lobby and also donuts on occasions.

Yes the room is compact so travel light, but this is Tokyo, one of the most populated places on earth so it’s not going to be spacious! Don’t listen to the one star reviews, it is perfectly adequate and I was pleasantly surprised having read all the negative reviews.

We were visiting Tokyo in April 2018 for a few days and stayed here mainly because of price and location.

Arriving at Narita airport we picked up the Narita Express to Tokyo using our JR pass (just under 1hr) then changed onto the Marunouchi metro line to reach Akasaka-Mitsuke station (170 Yen) which was just minutes from the hotel.

The hotel had a clean, modern feel to it and check in was easy as the staff understood and spoke English well.

The room was small but perfectly functional. Double bed, free Wi-Fi, tv, very modern smart and well presented bathroom & walk in shower. All the usual amenities were included - soaps, shampoos, hair dryers etc. And it also had a small fridge which was useful. Rooms were quiet and secure which was the main thing for us.

In terms of location the area surrounding the hotel is nice and not as mad as other parts of Tokyo. There are restaurants and shops nearby and the metro line only being minutes from the hotel was a massive plus as it meant you have quick access to the whole city on your doorstep.

As mentioned by other reviewers there is a separate cafe which can be accessed through the hotel lobby area if you wanted to go and buy breakfast. There are limited options and to be honest we opted instead to just get a free coffee from the machine near the hotel reception desk and pick something up on our travels instead.

Overall this hotel provides great facilities and location if you're sightseeing or just need somewhere to put your head down for the night and we would definitely stay here again if we went back to Tokyo.

Pros:
- very fast WIFI and ethernet connection
- was on higher floor facing back and had no noise problems
- long 2m bed despite size of room
- overall room and hotel public areas are very clean
- check in / out was smooth with professional staff
- super central location in Tokyo, 30 seconds from Metro station
- multiple 24 hour convenience stores in immediate vicinity

Cons:
- despite the bathroom being thoroughly cleaned, there is a gap between the wall and the tub, allowing water to fall in the gap, resulting in mildew. I think filling this gap is a must!
- rooms are pretty small, especially the corner rooms
- no closet to hang suits or shirts. There are some hangers on the wall but you need to ‘stack’ the hangers if you have several suits which isn’t ideal

Advice:
- the hotel is on a small but busy road so make sure you have a detailed map when arriving
- don’t mistake this hotel with the other “B Akasaka”

Breakfast was in the cafe attached to the hotel and we paid for what ever we ate in the cafe. I assume you will need yo do the same unless you gave some voucher system included in your tariff. I have no idea on cots - sorry!

Transportation from the airport to the hotel.
Northern England63 contributions77 helpful votes
We took the Narita express to Tokyo station, we pre booked seats and bought tickets for the train in a JR travel office at the airport. It is about 50 minutes to Tokyo station. We bought a PASMO card (at the airport) which allows you to use the subway and buses without needing cash - we took the subway - very easy Ginza line or Marunuchi line - the hotels website has the station number on it. Leave the station and turn right through a little arcade, go first left and first right. Literally a two minute walk from the station. So very easy we have booked a return trip to this hotel in October, the main reason being ease of using the transport from the hotel. Good luck! Tokyo is fun!
