Samsara Cliffs Resort offers stunning ocean views and unique cliff diving experiences that many guests adore, set in a location celebrated for its tranquility and safety. While the resort's atmosphere is often described as cozy and romantic, some travelers feel the rooms could benefit from modernization and more diligent maintenance. The friendly staff and scenic bungalows earn praise, despite occasional service hiccups and a need for more consistent cleanliness. Guests are divided on the resort's value, as some find the costs too high for the outdated amenities provided.

We could not ask for a better holiday. The staff at both resorts are amazing. We stayed a couple years ago at Legends and the last 2 weeks at SamSara. Both resorts have their unique charm.
Check in is always like you are coming to your home away from home. Jennifer and the other fantastic front desk girls are always helpful with big smiles and a great laugh. Thanks for the welcome back gift package we really appreciated it!!!
The food at both resorts is like your mom's home cooked meals. Tasty and always enough of a selection even the pickiest eater like me can find something great to eat. Hat's off to the kitchen and restaurant staff. Big shout out to Patricia, Kendrick, Rosheka and too many more to mention who make every meal great.
If you love the fast paced action Legends is the resort to stay if you like the beauty of nature SamSara is the place to go. I love that you have the option to use both resorts. Stay at one enjoy both who could ask for a better holiday.
Thanks again Rush and your co-worker for the great his and her pampering massage.
We stayed on the garden side in a wonderful little cabin the gardening staff work hard to keep all the grounds beautiful. Thanks Peter for always helping us to cross the busy road safely.
Want to go to Legends for the day Omar will give you a free ride there at 10:00 am and back at 4:00pm. These times don't fit into your schedule no problem for $5.00 payable at the front desk he will zip you over to the other resort no need to flag down a taxi.
Bring your own beach towels we also packed a small coffee maker because I'm a early riser and like to enjoy the sunrise with a coffee in hand.
Once again thank-you SamSara for a fantastic holiday and we will be back soon.

the resort was very relaxing and quiet we usually stay on the beach but this was a nice alternative. the resort was clean and the staff friendly. the rooms are outdated but clean and served there purpose no problem with the rooms on this end if you want luxury then spend your 8 grand and go to a sandals. sunsets were great and the water is crystal clear you can see 30 feet down. I recommend not doing the all inclusive package as we tried to hit as many local places as possible for our breakfast, lunch and dinners. across the street pablos is very good for breakfast and you can walk down the street a ways to pewees also their breakfasts are also good. ciao across the street is good and also murphys up the ciffs further the lobster was excellent. three dives also has excellent food like jerk chicken. We love patronizing the local food places. a lot of places are walkable but you need a cab to go further up the cliffs for some good restaurants it is $5 a couple any way you go. there a 2 local convenience stores one right across the street and another a couple blocks down we bought are beer, drinks and soda and ice there and brought along a collapsible cooler and had ice cold drinks as we relaxed on our loungers by the water. I recommend bringing your own thermos for mixing your drinks. It is not a luxury resort but I would definitley go back again it is a nice affordable quiet relaxing vacation highly recommend.

Thank you for writing this 4-Star review. We’re very happy that you found the rooms to be clean, the staff living up to their reputation of being very friendly and the ambiance to be the calm and relaxing quiet we strive for. Many will appreciate your listing of so many of the dining opportunities in the area, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t also mention the home cooked meals available in the Samsara dining room. We hope that you will be back one day. Meanwhile, thank you for recommending us and choosing to stay with us at the Samsara Cliff Hotel.

My wife and I stayed for the first time at Samsara Cliffs, we were very impressed with the staff. It is a smaller resort and most of the time we saw 3 - 4 other couples around and that's it! Our first days it was windy and the cliff area was closed off for safety reasons, but that made it a good time to go to the sister resort, Legends and enjoy the beach.
We found the beds as hard as concrete, and it would have been nice for an electrical plug in the bathroom. Pool towels were not provided, however it was inexpensive to get one from the gift shop.
Shout out to Lincoln, Anika, Justin

There are plenty of complaints of the guests about the food about the bar about the rooms about the towels about the stuff about the cleanliness but no one doing anything about it. there is not one sign to tell u where you can park ?A call at 9am wake us up to go and pay the taxes of $62 . A disaster Restautant who no one answers the phone after complain 5 times ? The reception told me to go there and get it my self ? we asked for wash cloth and we called 5 times and we got it 2/12 hours later . this hotel is a joke do your self a favor and stay away . Is going to ruin ur vacation. I asked for my money back and they told me is not refundable. and as far as wfi not existing and finally what you see online of the pics about the cliff and the rooms is a photoshop. I’m very disappointed of the reviews that they give them 3 stars

For the rate being charged it's unfair to be critical.

The positives, good location in west end, great views from cliffs, pretty spot, free parking and close proximity to bars

Negatives, scandalously over priced hotel bar (7usd for a beer), rooms horribly outdated, laborious check in process.

would come back for the price, but wouldnt recommend

Thank you for this 3-Star review, we’re glad you enjoyed your Samsara experience enough to come back someday. The cliffs do provide a great platform for diving and enjoying spectacular sunsets. Samsara is a short walk from a variety of establishments in Negril and many surrounding restaurants and activities. Having realistic expectations is always a good policy, which is why we encourage visitors to research where they are planning to stay during a holiday trip. We’ll take the concerns under consideration as we are continually improving year after year. However please note that a Red Stripe costs $3.50 at our bar. Thank you for the review and thank you for staying with us at Samsara while in Jamaica.

Staff members were friendly and cool, food was amazing and had a much more home-like touch than I've had at larger resorts. I preferred the smaller amount of quality dishes, because it felt like they were prepared with love.

The cliffs were awesome, the snorkeling was fantastic, and the night sky was beautiful. Samsara also doesn't have too many rules like some other resorts. We felt like we could chill and be ourselves!

The first night we arrived, it was later than dinner time, but they knew we were coming so they saved us a bunch of sandwiches. It was such a warm welcome. I really loved the chef - I think her name is Georgia - and the bartenders were really chill. I already miss Justin!

Security guards were also available to help us out or even just to hang out after hours. I'm talking to you, Dwight, Dwayne, and Justin!

The room was also big, beautifully decorated, and had a large balcony with a great view of the ocean. I'm looking forward to returning one day. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to write this 5-Star review. We’re very happy that you enjoyed your Samsara experience and were comfortable enough to feel at home here. Our staff works hard to provide a welcoming atmosphere for every guest. It’s great that you enjoyed the company of our staff while staying at the Samsara Cliff Hotel. Dwight, Dwayne, and Justin will all be thrilled that you enjoyed hanging with them so much it merited a specific mention in your review. Georgia and the dining staff will be equally happy to learn that they pleased your palate with the meals they prepared. Housekeeping too will be happy that you enjoyed a clean, comfortable room that you found beautifully decorated. Finally, it’s great that nature cooperated in providing such incredible views spectacular nights. Thank you for writing this review, we look forward to your return one day. We’re so happy that you chose to stay with us at Samsara, thank you.

I emailed with questions prior to arrival, I was told there would be a $100 Deposit held upon checkin (not mentioned on the website), but was not informed that it would have to be cash or on a credit card ONLY, which caused quite a bit of a hassle for me & check in time.. None of the staff we came in contact with wore name badges so I can’t be specific, but we encountered some really good employees in the upstairs restaurant for our 1 breakfast, 1 lunch & 1 dinner visit, only 1 friendly bartender, there was 1 bartender who had a negative attitude each time we requested ice, even when we gave tips for the ice, which by the way is the only way to get ice on the premises. The resort’s pizza restaurant across the street was very nice, great pizza, & another patron’s lasagna looked really good, but the server was not pleasant during our dining experience, she was much more pleasant when she was our bartender on St. Patrick’s Day. We never saw the other restaurant mentioned on the website open during our stay. The housekeepers were very pleasant & very helpful, once requests for things were made, (coffee maker, iron & ironing board), but it was very upsetting & very nerve wracking that we did not have full sets of towels upon arrival, & ALL that we had to go through each day of our stay in order to get towels throughout our 6 Day/5 Night Stay. I was appreciative of the fact that my room location request was accommodated, nice safe in the room & our beds were comfortable & a great balcony with an amazing view, absolutely amazing sunset views from the balcony & down below(cliff side)!! We really liked seeing the various boats passing by throughout the day! We stayed in the newer VUZ building, an amazing addition to the property since my 1st visit back in 2004!! There should be more than 2 shuttle departure times for their sister property, there were plenty of beach chairs at Samsara but NOT at Legends, very small number of beach chairs & umbrellas at that location. The toilet & the sofa chair in the room were both very low, other than that we liked our room. The menu items were more costly than what I was expecting, even though I did read MANY of the reviews about the prices & the property so we had to walk around searching for more affordable meals. The property was very clean, it would be really nice if they offered more entertainment throughout the week, the 1 night (Friday) there was entertainment during our stay, was a really nice live band & female singer. It’s a really nice, chill resort if you’re looking for something laid back & low key.

We stayed at Negril’s Samsara Cliffs from September 18 to October 2. We are not particularly fond of sandy beaches so the choice of the cliffs location was much preferable. We stayed in the older building and our room Oceanview Deluxe was well appointed, comfortable, spacious and equipped in a flat screen tv(accepts USBs), safe deposit box and a fridge. The view was of the pool area and the ocean. The personnel were patient, courteous, and friendly. That's the personal touch.

As to the meals, they are freshly prepared by inventive chefs who can accommodate the needs of people with food intolerances, and even, as in my case celiac disease. I delighted in eating fried fish with rice and vegetables twice a day, for two weeks. And loved it!

Swimming there is amazing, clear warm water with many easy access places, great snorkelling and diving. There are also 2 new swimming pools, including an infinity, a very pleasant one, indeed.

And, yes, as mentioned by some reviewers, do bring an extension cord, as you may find insufficient number of electrical outlets.

Thank you, everyone at Samsara Cliffs, we had a great time!

You are very welcome and thank you for a great 5-Star Review. We’re thrilled you had a great Samsara experience, something we hope you’ll repeat whenever the mood strikes. Those who are especially fond of sandy beaches should check out our sister property, the Legends Beach Hotel. But Samsara is unmatched for fabulous views and amazing sunsets. We’re always happy to hear that a guest appreciated the warm and welcoming atmosphere our staff strives to create along with every clean, comfortable room. Thank you for recognizing too, our kitchen and dining staff, so often the unsung heroes of the vacation experience. We are so glad you chose to stay with us at the Samsara Cliff Hotel and hope to see you again soon. Thank you for a great review.

As a Jamaican native, this was my first time staying in Negril and at the Samsara Cliff resort. It was truly an exceptional experience and I'm looking forward to return.

The property is located in Negril's West End, south of 7 mile beach. Parking is across the street from the entrance but you will need direction/help from the security at the front to park and cross the street. There is an older portion of the hotel and a newly renovated area with new rooms and an infinity pool. This is not an accessible or kid-friendly property. There are several stairs and there is no lifeguard for the entrance to the water at the cliffs. There are two well-kept pools but highly advise that only experienced swimmers go into the open water. You can step in or take the ladders down into the water. You can also jump off the cliff into the water!

The grounds are breathtaking! The plants and trees are refreshing and the outdoors sit on the edge of the cliff. The water is spectacular and the sunsets are EVERYTHING. The rooms are a little dated but I was comfortable with the amenities that included satellite TV, balcony and the flowers decorated all throughout the room.

My highlights were the food and service. You will get authentic Jamaican food and great drinks at the property. The price for everything is very affordable. There is also an all-inclusive option available. The owners of the property also have an Italian restaurant across the street, adjacent to the parking. I didn't try it but heard it was excellent. Tina and Marcia were exceptional in their service! You will also find a gift shop and a game room with pool available as well. This was my first time staying in Negril but believe the peace, beauty, and service were extremely worthwhile that I will return.

We stayed 10th to 20th March and the hotel did not disappoint. All staff were lovely in particular Eleri and her team. The food is very tasty, home cooked food, we never had a disappointing meal. The waitresses and bar staff were lovely and always happy. Send a shout out particularly to Tina, Kizzy ( who gave me the nickname tiny feet, stil makes me giggle), Ashika, Janel, Kimmy and Millicent who along with some of the others ran the bar. The reception staff and security guys were great, particularly Peter.

The snorkelling is great. To the right of the cliffs there's the blue cave and to the left were the Xtabi cliffs and caves. There were fishermen every day catching large barracuda, we saw eagle rays and other large and small rays. There are many fish, some we'd never seen before and lots of fans. We also saw a couple of moray eels and some squid.

We stayed in a garden room across the road, basic, large rooms which were clean with very comfortable beds. We didn't miss a fridge as there is water available in a butt at the bar, worth taking an insulated bottle. There is no soundproofing in these rooms, so this can disturb your sleep, we had a snorer next door for a couple of nights.

Bring beach towels as the towels they provide appear to have been cut in half, so are small. Shade is limited, if you're seeking shade and not as good as other places we've stayed. Personally, I wouldn't let this stop me visiting again as within a couple of days we were both very relaxed. Our holidays help us both relax and recharge from our stressful jobs.

The sunsets here are stunning too, plenty of sunbeds available. Could do with some greenery nearer the cliffs, beds.
