I'm a new scuba diver who was invited to join a dive group trip and I had heard wonderful things about Bonaire.
The divi flamingo was a incredibly comfortable company to deal with.
Booking was handled by our trip liaison with the dive group and she had done an awesome job with handling the specifics starting with the pickup from the airport.
We were picked up in a timely manner from the little airport on the island in a clean, comfortable van w/ a trailer for the luggage that all the divers absolutely have to have. = "No space shortage"
The check in took a few minutes, however; I can say it was a nice wait and I enjoyed the guava beverages they had.
A porter led me to my room and by first sight I can say I wasn't that impressed.
With that being said, I was incorrect to make that assumption.
The room was incredibly well suited to my needs for the dive trip I was on.
There was plenty of space for all of the dive extras that all divers bring with.
A kitchenette where you can prepare snacks and luncheon meals for the days trips.
My room was upstairs right near the dive shop and it made quite the easy commute for the morning boat dive trips.
I don't set the bar too high for presentation and up to date decor when it comes to rooms and resort trips.
On a whole this resort exceeded my expectations for both. They had incredibly functional space for dining, diving, rooms/living space, laundry and food preparation and storage for your day dives/trips.

As far as the staff, I was quite impressed by their kindness, professionalism and up to the minute service.
All of the staff deserve a hand and a bit of gratuity for the way they do their jobs.
We all appreciate the level of attention y'all have given us and the manner it was given.
If you're a diver and you're looking for a convenient and pampered dive trip to the dive world in Bonaire, check these guys out at the Divi Flamingo.
I think you'll be happy you did.
Last thing.
I think everyone is a foodie type person, no matter what level you happen to be on just remember that this place is a island. Everything comes in from boat or plane.
With that being said, the food is great considering what they have to go through to get it there. Plan ahead for dinner at the resort and set up your reservation for sure and it will help the staff and kitchen with your service and experience. Just don't get your mind set on perfection. As the great Tin Cup has told us, "Perfection is unattainable."
Enjoy.

We just finished a 6-day Covid vacation at Divi Flamingo Beach Resort. They had very good processes for keeping things disinfected and reducing potential exposure. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us a very-fair refund on our deposit for the package we bought when there were new limitations that prevented them from doing boat dives. The grounds were well kept and the two pools were lovely. Food choices were limited given the circumstances.

We spent our time doing shore dives from the pier off the dive shop at the resort. (Calabas Reef) There was plenty of reef right there to provide great diving. Lots of sea life, coral and sponges. The dive staff was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Dear Rebecca, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are delighted that you have experienced our COVID-19 protective measures as very good during your stay and that you have noticed that we do our outmost best to keep areas disinfected and reduce potential exposure. Great to hear that our (dive) staff was friendly and helpful and your satisfaction with the refund we have provided due not being able to offer boat dives because of local lockdown restrictions. It was our pleasure to have you as guests at our resort. We hope we may boat dive with you soon, sincerely, Celine van Meer - General Manager

It is a fine hotel. One bed was nice to sleep on, the other is too lumpy and needs to be replaced. The tv works, with cable, which is nice for when I stayed in all day recovering from sunburn. Drinks are stupid expensive, especially when compared to other places. The cleaning staff seemed to be bothered when we asked for anything. (A dehumidifier would have been great.)
The pools were clean and nice. The sand deck was nice with umbrellas, if you got to one early enough. The sun deck was nice. There were 2 areas to get into the water and see the parrot fish and other water life (eels, coral, lots of other fun things).
The shower was usually warm to hot. Even when turned to cold. This might be an island thing. I tried cold for my sunburn, warm it was.
The casino had locals and guests. The waitresses were extremely friendly, it was a good time.
We had ants. Anything we took to the room, we were careful to not leave crumbs or stickiness in a glass because the ants would take over. One night we had a (or some) no see ‘ums in the room. And the laundry bag has some kind of worm type thing on it when we were packing up.

The best part of this resort is the great access to the dive dock and the ability to walk to town. The dive staff is very good. Been coming to Divi for over 30 years, even during the two years of COVID.

The studio rooms have been renovated but the beds and giant pillows are tired. The screened in porches were lost to the renovations and now only a small outdoor patio or balcony exists but no longer can you eat outside due to flies.

There is no designated smoking area and with the winds generally coming from the east you will usually be downwind of the smokers. In my opinion, smoking should not be allowed at the pool area. The beach area could be designated for smokers

Requested a late checkout after staying 5 weeks and it was denied, check out is now at 10am and most flights are much later in the day. So you may have to sit outdoors for hours. Knowing the flight schedule, it would seem that a better solution would be to adjust the housekeeping schedules to better accommodate a later checkout and consider the guest needs. A noon checkout would be reasonable and more in line with other Bonaire resorts.

Dear Ms. Hutchison, Thank you for being such a loyal guest to our resort and for staying with us for over 30 years. Thank you for highlighting our renovated studios; all bedding was replaced and the studios indeed lost their screened-in porch but the actual rooms became larger inside. In our part of the world we indeed sometimes encounter the usual fly or mosquito outdoors but this does not prevent people from dining outside, even our restaurants are all outdoors. Most hotels and resorts on island and in the rest of the world have a 10 or 11 am check out time. This has been confirmed in your reservation confirmation when you booked. We understand that some flights depart or arrive earlier or later but with the island and resort being so busy, and even more so on Saturday’s, it is sometimes difficult to honor later check out times. We have explained this to you in person. You decided to leave your luggage inside your room and sit on the porch not enabling our cleaning staff to clean the room before 12-noon. By doing this you did make use of a 12-noon check out, which may lead into the room not being ready on time for the next arriving guest. We are sorry that we are not exceeding your expectations but are sincerely grateful for your loyalty to our resort. Thank you for your written feedback. Sunny regards, Celine

We exchanged weeks through Interval International and had concern about room size, as compared to our regular travel, where we always have 1 or 2 bedrooms here are only studios.
We were pleasantly surprised how roomy and well equipped the suit was. Kitchen had everything we ever needed, huge fridge, everything working properly and during 24 days of our stay we never asked for maintenance (very unusual).
Before our arrival we contacted front desk manager Mr. Molina as we needed very quiet room. He was very responsive to our request by email and when we arrived he was friendly and professional. We got very quiet room with quietly working AC (though it did not seem like that at first look) and were very pleased with that as for us the sleep quality is priority.
Cleaning of the room was great, thanks to Viola (housekeeping manager) and Astrid.
Also all front desk staff were friendly, and tried to help, all of them, we remember Daniela.
Even though there is no real beach we liked how sea access was designed at the resort and that we could swim and snorkel (we are not divers).
We also liked weekly get together with resort staff where you can meet managers and talk to them if you have concerns or questions.
We are glad to hear from recent reviews that resort started to limit the access to their beach chairs for cruise passengers as they often arrive in large groups and take your place even when you have your personal belongings there and just left for swimming and sometimes they are drunk, loud and very disrespectful to hotel guests.
The only area of improvement we would suggest is the food in the resort's restaurants particularly dinner buffets. To be honest it was just not good for us and food caused severe gerd issues. But luckily we had an option to cook in the room.
We really wanted to send our special thanks Otmar Molina and Celine for their wonderful professional work (you could often see Celine at the different parts of resort checking and mingling with guests). They really made our vacation to celebrate our wedding anniversary unforgettable. And since we mostly spent time at the resort we were happy with their and their team's work.
We definitely will be back and will recommend this resort to our friends.

Wow, your review makes us very happy! We are delighted to read that you have enjoyed the layout of our studios for 24 days in a row and that you never had to ask for maintenance or housekeeping assistance because everything was in great order. Yes, all our studios have a large fridge. We are also glad that our Front Desk Manager, Otmar, has been of great assistance before your travel. We will also share your compliments with Viola and Otmar. As for me, yes, I always aim to walk around and speak with our guests, not only because I love to meet all of them but also to make sure that I am visible in case we can assist and make our guests' stay even better. We look forward to welcoming you back and feel free to reach out to us before your travel. Thanks for your wonderful review :) Sunny regards, Celine van Meer - General Manager

This was our 3rd stay at the Divi Flamingo but it had been 7 years since our last stay. Our group of 13 from the Greater Omaha SCUBA Club was greeted with a private check in on arrival.

Meals: We opted for the breakfast/lunch option and every morning at breakfast the group made our selections for lunch which worked great as we headed to lunch right after the 2 tank morning boat dives. The daily breakfast buffet at Pure Ocean had plenty of options and the staff had our table ready every day. We had a private area for lunch every day at the Chibi Chibi restaurant. The 2 hour Happy Hour every evening was a hit with our group.

Rooms: Everyone in our group had a Deluxe Oceanfront room. Note that there are very few king beeded rooms available, the majority have 2 double beds but we found the beds very comfortable. Housekeeping service was great. Showers only in the rooms which worked for us.

Dive op: I can't say enough good things about the entire dive staff. We had Luis and Dedrick for 5 days and they were excellent along with the rest of the staff. Happy, fun, they went along with the crazy antics of our group. The snorkelers in our group appreciated being able to come on the dive boat.

Shore dive: Sadly we noticed a difference at the house reef, Calabas Reef, since our last stay. There are now cruise ships nearly every day, sometimes more than one, and they are having an impact as they dock so close to the reef. We did 6 shore dives including a night dive on the day there wasn't a cruise ship in port.

Staff: From management to housekeeping, the entire staff was lovely.

My third visit to the Divi Flamingo was amazing. Despite recent closures due to Covid, the Divi continued to provide great service and amenities. Although the Chibi Chibi restaurant was closed, the Pureocean dining room provided a full range of a la carte choices every day, except the Saturday evening buffet which was set up with an acrylic barrier to allow guests to view dishes while chefs laid out their choices – lots of variety for all tastes. Some of the dinners provided the most delicious taste experiences I’ve had anywhere. This is the best resort on the island: clean, quiet, well designed, and exemplifies the true character of the beautiful island of Bonaire. Many thanks to the front desk/customer service: Otmar, Petra, Fenna, Lynn; dining/bar staff: Diana, Gwendalyne, Elton, John. The entire staff worked together to make me feel welcome, making this experience unforgettable !

My partner and went on this trip in March last year (2020), as it happened, just before COVID travel restriction locked in. This was one of those trips where everything went well. The accommodation was very good - we were in a room on the top floor overlooking the pool and the sea, the diving was great (including the "house reef") and the on site dive shop also very good. The hotel is conveniently located in relation to the town and grocery stores are within easy striking distance. We hired a scooter for a couple of days to explore the island, pick up supplies and generally putter about, and would certainly recommend doing this. we will definitely make a return trip when we can!

This was my third stay at the Divi Flamingo and it was as perfect as ever! Every diver is assigned a locker right at the dock, so no need to carry gear back and forth to your room. Dive guides and crew on the boats are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

Rooms were spacious, comfortable and newly renovated. The meals at the PureOcean Dining Room were delicious and served buffet-style.

The staff is gracious, friendly and very helpful.

The hotel is a short walk from town with many choices of shops and restaurants.

If you are looking at Bonaire you already know how spectacular the diving is.

I have been back home for a week and I am already looking forward to my next trip there.

I saw people walking down stairs to snorkel. I saw several groups early morning going out with dive instructors. Some went off property. Some would dive at night near the property. I hope this is helpful.

I understand that the Divi is waiting for supplies to come to the island and also they are still evaluating about whether to rebuild or not. Might be just a rumour.
