We recently took our first family vacation to St. Lucia, and stayed for six nights at Villa Beach Cottages. It was an absolutely perfect stay because VBC is a truly rare and wonderful small resort. We have traveled to many other locations in the Caribbean, and never have we been able to stay right on the beach. You walk out of your cottage and a gorgeous beach is right there. We could hear the ocean as we drifted to sleep and watched spectacular sunsets every evening. It is a heavenly location. All of the amenities like the pool and hot tub are lovely and never crowded, another advantage of a small hotel like this. The villas are beautiful and sparkling clean. You can also choose from a variety of types of rooms and almost all of them have large porches with a view of the beach. Our family of four sat on our porch and read and played cards in the ocean breeze. In addition to all of this, the owner, Colin, and his staff are incredibly helpful and kind. I just can't explain what a difference this made. Colin's recommendations about the island were indispensable, and he made sure that we had all the information we needed to plan our vacation on the island in ways that were tailored to our interests and needs. Colin and the entire staff provided the kind of personal attention that we have never experienced at a big resort or anywhere else for that matter. Villa Beach Cottages also works with a small group of taxi drivers who are excellent. We took a day trip with Venantius Popo who I highly recommend. Not only did he teach us so much about St. Lucian history and culture, but he helped us to have a day trip to Soufrieres that was just what we wanted-- complete with a water taxi to snorkeling, an amazing lunch, time at the volcanic mud baths, and a stop for delicious casava bread.

Villa Beach Cottages is right in the town of Castries, but it still feels tucked away and surprisingly secluded. The location was ideal for us because we could walk to the supermarket or produce store (get some local produce especially papaya, mango, and bananas!). You are also close to Rodney Bay which has fantastic restaurants.

Villa Beach Cottages is an amazing place! We will absolutely return without a doubt. Our kids are already asking when we can go back.

We had the pleasure to visit Villa Beach Cottages which sits in a stunning location for our wedding New Years Day. Stepping straight out of the accomodation & pool onto a beautiful sandy beach, perfect for all ages. The sea here has a slow shelf compared to other beaches with good consistent medium waves, perfect for kids. We couldn't get our kids out until after sunset on many evenings (ages 6 & 8).
The location really is a highlight, as Choc beach is so quiet compared to other more touristic beaches on the north of the island. We had a large section of the beach to ourselves many days, shared only with the tired looking adults only resort (sandals) on one far end of there beach.
We stayed for 7 nights which included our wedding with friends & family. The whole day was organised perfectly by Susan (the wedding organiser) & Colin (the manager) & all the staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble & our whole party were made to feel like family for our short week we were there. From the moment we arrived the staff took care of all our needs, from taxi's to housekeeping, days out & special requests etc. Don't forget to hire the kayaks to paddle over to rat island! A fun few hours & great way to see the local coast.
The accomodation is spacious & well maintained, with stunning views over the ocean & coast. Steps straight out to the pool & again onto the beach.
Because we were a large group of 14, regular taxi/mini bus collections were arranged for us, but a car would be recommended to travel to local restaurants & the many areas of natural beauty St Lucia has to offer.
Restaurants not to miss, the Coal Pot! wonderful location & food, Spinnakers by the beach in Rodney Bay (This beach is very busy though, so book a table) & The little chef. Eating out is expensive, but these 3 restaurant will not dissapoint.
There is a great floating water park for all ages 6+ which is definitely recommended for a few hours family fun.
Pigeon Island is a must visit, one of our highlights along with a days private boat hire to see the coast including Marigot Bay. There is a very nice secluded beach at pigeon island too to eat, drink & relax after the spectacular views from the top of the hill & fort.
Our honeymoon, the second week was spent in the south of the island by the Pitons (beware the windy roads for anyone who gets car sick, about 1.5 hours drive). A beautiful area with many places to visit, but the location of Villa Beach cottages would definitely be be our preferred choice for a relaxing location to view all parts of the north of the island.

This was our first time to St Lucia and I took a chance on Villa Beach. I liked the fact that it was family run! We had a driver come pick us up from the airport, which is an hour away from the hotel. We got to our cottage and I was pleasantly surprised at how big our room was. We had a full kitchen and dining table, a big bathroom and a huge bed. We had a balcony with 2 loungers overlooking the ocean. There is a pool / hot tub / sun loungers as well. Throughout the week, we were able to relax and take things slowly, which was desperately needed! There is a grocery store about 10 mins walk away so we stocked up on groceries and had breakfast/lunch at the cottage. One night we ordered dinner from the cottage and ate it on the balcony. The pumpkin soup was AMAZING! The cottage is not for those who like to party, it’s more of a quiet respite for those looking to get away from it all. There is a laundry room in case you want to do some laundry, and a mini mart in case you run out of basic toiletries, or need water/snacks. We met with the general manager, Colin who was extremely helpful in recommending places to go and things to do for my birthday that week. The staff at the front desk was so helpful in making dinner reservations and coordinating taxis to take us to dinner and other excursions. The taxi drivers who work for the hotel always went above and beyond making sure we got where we wanted to go safely, and they would come and pick us up after we were done with dinner etc. I would recommend renting a car if you want a bit more freedom to come and go (although they drive on the other side for those of you in the US), but it wasn’t much of an issue for us as we just wanted to relax. Overall, we had an amazing trip and would definitely recommend Villa Beach to anyone!

We stayed at Villa Beach Cottages for my 50th birthday treat. We always prefer to use smaller non chain hotels/apartments and on this occasion it proved to be one of the best decisions we could’ve made. Our holiday coincided with all the travel disruption caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. While other guests in chain hotels were being given ultimatums to leave we were made to feel so safe and secure at VBC. Virgin cancelled our flight and left us high and dry !!! All the ladies at reception and the owner Colin Hunte were absolutely amazing in trying to help us secure a flight home. For several days we were the only guests at the premises but we were assured we’d be welcome to stay for as long as it took which was so reassuring. In spite of the disruption towards the end of our holiday we still managed to have an incredible time. VBC has a perfect location on a beautiful sandy beach with the most breathtaking views and a mesmerising sunset. The accommodation is spotlessly clean and perfectly equipped. The private balcony provides the perfect spot for breakfast with a view that is second to none. St Lucia is stunning, the mix of golden beaches and stunning rain forest make it a truly unique experience. We hired a car and were able to explore the island at our leisure. Colin has a wealth of information on places to visit and the best restaurants, he’s so helpful when it comes to planning your itinerary. Every member of staff at VBC deserves a mention from housekeeping to maintenance and security, it’s the staff that put the cherry on the cake here !!!! I hope the tourists return to this magic island before too long, and if you decide to stay here I guarantee you will not be disappointed 🏝😍

We stayed at Villa Beach Cottages this past week and while having the 2 bedroom cottage with 2 baths and a kitchen was what we were looking for, the website description regarding nearby restaurants and convenience was terribly inaccurate. There are NO restaurants in walking distance to this accommodation, therefore, you have to take a taxi or drive to go out to eat or to go to a proper grocery store. The Wharf, which they say is next door is closed and partially demolished. The hotel is on an extremely busy road and there are no sidewalks, so you take your life in your hands if you try to walk anywhere. You also need a car or a taxi to do any type of excursion. There is literally nothing of interest, shopping, boating, nothing nearby. The beach and pool are very nice and it is clean and safe but it was very hard to get around and as an American, driving on the "wrong" side of the road (the left), was very difficult . The staff were very polite and tried to be as helpful as possible but we would not stay at this location again. It just made our vacation way too much work...If you go to St. Lucia, stay in an all inclusive resort. You will have a much better time...

Villa Beach Cottages was a wonderful resort – very friendly and welcoming. The staff was very accommodating and helpful and the facilities were in impeccable condition. The resort is located on a beautiful beach and our Cottage had a full ocean view and was in such close proximity to the water that you heard the waves crashing on the beach. A full kitchen is available if patrons don’t want to dine out and especially with Covid considerations, meals can be delivered, and the staff will even grocery shop. It is relaxing to dine out on the beautiful patio with table and chairs and two comfortable lounge chairs. The staff cleaned the grounds and pool every day and ensured that umbrellas were always put up and cushions provided for lounge chairs overlooking the Caribbean Sea. We will definitely be returning with friends and family!

This property is located right on the beach, however, you have to deal with a very rude staff (Nadia) that has no idea what basic politeness means. This hotel is nowhere near any food, so you have to get a cab everywhere, which is $30 US minimum extra tab anytime you want to go get a meal or do anything off the property. My suggestion is to stay in a slightly higher priced place that offers some amenities (totally worth it after considering how much we spent on taxi’s and dinners out). Also, there are much prettier beaches than this one around the island.

Response from Colin Hunte, Owner at Villa Beach Cottages
Responded Jan 5, 2021
Dear Mary, Thank you for your review and for traveling to Saint Lucia and staying at the Villa Beach Cottages at this very difficult and challenging time. Our local family owned and operated property has welcomed guests from all over the world for decades, many of whom have become repeat guests and friends mainly because of the level of service, friendliness and true Saint Lucian hospitality provided by my team. As you had indicated we have an amazing location with spacious suites right on the beach which also adds to the charm of our property. There are members of our team who have been part of the family for over 25 years and I cannot remember one single occasion when any guest complained about a member of our team been rude or disrespectful. The reverse has not always been the case. We understand that it is not easy time to travel during a global pandemic with all the requirements, restrictions and protocols but these are absolutely necessary to protect the health & safely of you, our guest, our team and the local population. All Covid-19 certified hotels on the island have to adhere to the rules and protocols set by the Government of Saint Lucia and the “tourism bubble” it has created means guest have to take a Covid-19 certified taxi to all certified restaurants, sites and attractions on the island. We will admit that taxi fares are expensive in Saint Lucia but we have little control as these are set by the National Taxi Association and the Government. As other options for transportation like the use of local buses and car rental usually available at our property are not permitted at this time, we have tried and got our property taxi drivers to offer rates lower than the standard fares for our guests which can be charged to the room bill. As you were aware we provided many options for food during your stay including daily lunch & dinner meals prepared on property at Coconuts Restaurant by our local Chefs Lisa & Didier (who were willing to work with you to met your special dietary requirements), daily grocery shopping and delivery, daily ordering and delivery of breakfast, lunch or dinner from restaurants (literally minutes away) and dining out at the now 12 Covid-19 certified restaurants in our part of the island. We wish you all the best, continued success in your career as an opera singer and hope you give us the opportunity to host you and Vito again, when there are less restrictions, to experience the full spectrum of culinary delights on island and the genuine hospitality of our team.

My wife and I stayed at Villa Beach for a week in Feb 2020, They are the nicest people to deal with, . Collin gives you a nice visit to inform you about everything on the island. They had us picked up at the airport on arrival by Austin. When you want to go somewhere ,tell the ladies in the office and they have you a driver when you are ready. The rooms are very nice, right on beach front so you can go to sleep to the sound of waves. The beach is just outside your private balcony or patio.Nice sand beach with gentle waves where you can wade out into water with nice sand bottom, never found a rock on the bottom while I was there. You can walk on beach anytime, was never crowded.Room was clean and well kept. Daily maid service. Two pools and hot tub were never dirty.Be sure to get a massage or 2 from Mary, very good and affordable.Grocery and coffee shop within walking distance.Room has equipped kitchenette even with a blender for frozen drinks.Kayak out to island trip free of charge They can get you reservations at top restaurants. We will be going back!

We were delighted to find our villa more luxurious than we'd expected. Spacious, very clean, with a bathroom with 2 sinks, and a separate room with whirlpool tub. But the best feature was the balcony, with its view of the turquoise sea and relaxing sound-masking sound of crashing waves. The villas are just steps down to the sandy beach, and there are many lounge chairs and umbrellas on the deck overlooking it. Sea water temperature was perfect. The staff was super helpful arranging for drivers (all reliable and pleasant) to take us to nearby attractions and restaurants. We picked up groceries on foot. We enjoyed the Friday night street party in Gros Islet, the rain forest tram, and Pigeon Island. The price of Villa Beach is much more affordable than other resorts in the area.

We visited St. Lucia for our daughter's wedding. Several guests stay in an all inclusive resort but we wanted something more cultural and close to the beach. The Villa was PERFECT! They were located right on the ocean, beach and pool area was also right on the beach. We booked a 2 bedroom but only had 2 people. the king suite was right on the water basically and balcony had amazing views. We also cooked on the gas range daily. The fruit, vegetable and chicken from the market were super fresh. The Villa does have 24 hour gate and security to add some layers of security for tourists. We rented a car which added to our experience. It was much cheaper than taking a taxi everywhere but St. Lucia drives English style (passenger side driving and opposite lanes from US). St. Lucia uses the Eastern Caribbean dollar AND US dollars. Their official language is English so that helps with the cultural/language barrier for tourists.

When is the best month to visit for the weather
Answer from huntec1
Castries, St. Lucia
Thank you for your enquiry. The weather is usually good all year round but the "rainy" season which usually starts in June and ends in October is sometimes characterized by an early morning downpour followed by a sunny day. Occasionally storms passing through the Caribbean may affect the island and cause a few cloudy and rainy days during that period. The driest months are from February to May and is our peak period so book early and we will be happy to host at the Villa Beach Cottages for your holiday in Saint Lucia.
