I travel A LOT, and this hotel ranks up there as one our most lovely experiences. Picturesque setting in the small old town of Getaria, simple impeccably clean rooms with old stone walls and the most amazing sea view, where you sleep to the sound of the sea. Stunning shared lounge with local antiques and art, with an adjoinging terrace. Owner Michael (sp?) and all his staff cordial (special shout out to Boubacar) , welcoming and full of great suggestions catered to just you (or at least you feel that way). We had a small issue with a smoke smell (not THEIR fault), and the staff was so responsive; offered a room change or a complete clean and room ionizer. The responsiveness to this issue was notable!! Parking a challenge but manageable, be sure to reserve in advance or ask how to navigate the city meters. Convenient for nearby touring. Not to be overlooked. Already planning our return.

Thank you "dcmermaid" for your review, and your comments about our staff, and Boubacar. We thank you very much belatedly for your understanding attitude on the smoke issue. It helped us find a quick solution. For your guidance, between June 1st and Sept 30th parking in town and blue zones of harbour and beach areas. As from Oct 1st till May 31st, blue zone is for free, and parking areas for residents are open to all cars. It would be a pleasure to see you again. Best regards, Mikel

OMG! This is the cutest, most intimate inn on a tiny narrow street with its back to the ocean! The receptionist, Georgiana, was the best!! She tried to help my husband park our car in the tiny space available in town until we gave up and parked on the street. At the last minute, she got us reservations at a family owned restaurant on the docks that served the best fish we ate in a month in Spain (and we are including Michelin star places!) Breakfast next to the sea was the topper. Make a special side trip to Getaria just to stay at this special place!

Thank you "jodiec587" for your review: We are glad to know you had a great experience in Getaria. We try to solve our guests' needs within Saiaz Hotel's possibilities, and we are mcuh concerned about what Getaria can offer to its visitors, and to its community. We agree that grilled fish is a must, with a long tradition, the surrounding coast, landscapes, walks and hikes are great, and we also invite visitors to extend their experience approaching also its community: a Basque fishing village with its own customs, culture and language. Thank you again, and looking forward to seeing you again.

We loved our stay at this beautiful & historic hotel!! The location and views were very special and my husband enjoyed a few surfs at the bay located next to the hotel. Getaria is a special town and there is a lot to do within walking distance of the hotel. Also, it is easy to catch a bus to visit San Sebastián. A big thank you to the awesome staff who went above and beyond,

We have been well looked after in this charming hotel set in the heart of charming Getaria. Thank you. We loved our stay. Our host and staff were very helpful and the view over the sea from the hotel balcony whilst drinking our evening beer made our evening.

On arrival we got a very enthusiastic welcome from our host. The location in the old town was great for evening meals and socialising. We were also close to the Zarautz walk and the bus stop which took us Zumaia and facilitated another lovely walk.
The room was very comfortable but the sea views from the room made it even more wonderful.

From the arrival to our departure, our whole visit was seamless, enjoyable & relaxing.

We booked a couple of days before going as we had been before years ago & knew the hotel. The guy on the desk was so helpful & went over & above to help us book the room, even calling me to ensure I'd received his email. He whatsapped me too.

The room was fantastic, the sea view was amazing. Room 26. Service from the hotel was excellent. We dropped our luggage before check in easily.

We wanted to book again a couple of days later & I tried via whatsapp but they were full, the same guy, even on his day off (!), gave me details of another Getaria hotel. Outstanding service.

I cannot recommend this beautiful small hotel enough. The views alone will blow you away! Get a sea view if possible.

In September 2022 spent 4 nights here, the hotel is small, quiet, charming and right in the middle of Getaria. The staff were warm, welcoming and efficient. We stayed in the room overlooking the sea, great views, not if you have vertigo ! The ocean crashing waves were fantastic but on the noisy side and none stop. I will definitely return but will choose a room overlooking the town.
One night our door key would not work, the receptionist was efficient in looking for answers and soon realised she would have to call the manager, he arrived within five minutes and within another five we were in our room.
We found all the staff charming, polite and always very helpful.

Thank you X2456Walexc for your review_ Our sea view rooms are very popular, and the decoration colour changes following the weather, from all shades of grey to all shades of blue combined with greens. The ocean can be calm, or with huge stormy waves. Although we have sounproof windows, the wild show can sometimes be noisy. Our gothic façade to the village is shaded by the great views of those facing the sea, but the original 15th century walls offer a character they well deserve. We specially appreciate your comments about our staff, It will be a pleasure to see you again. Best regards,

Gorgeous ancient hotel, feels like old Spain, so authentic. Our room had a sea view, which was breathtaking! Blue ocean with crashing waves below, could have star there all day just gazing out the window. The hotel is lovely, small breakfast room with sea views. Good buffet breakfast, cooked breakfast on request. Staff were lovely too, nothing was too much trouble. They put up an extra bedinour room for my sister who joined us for one night. The town too is beautiful, lots of places to eat, with at least one Michelin star restaurant we spotted.
It was very busy while we were there as the annual Fiesta was going on, which added to our holiday.
Would definitely return here. No parking. You have to pay for that, or park for free on street if there are spaces.
If you are after a couple of nights in that area, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
The beaches(there are two) are fabulous.

This is a beautiful old building in a cobbled street on one side with fine views over the sea on the other. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is good and there is also plenty of public space with a lovely lounge and balcony overlooking the sea. Getaria is a lovely old fishing village with lots of good places to eat including a fine array of pintxos bars. Highly recommended.

Perfection! My junior suite was incredible with a perfect view of the Bay. Nice and quiet and everyone went above and beyond the call of duty. My breakfasts started with breathtaking views and were delicious. Was assisted in visiting the Guggenheim in Bilbao and took my daily walks on the Camino into ZARAUTZ, where I have family. Getaria is an incredible Seaside city which should not be missed for its beauty, delicious seafood, and tons of history. And don’t forget to visit the Balenciaga Museum right across the street!

The road outside the front is a narrow (very) no through road. You have to stop, unload your car and go to the end, turn round and go elsewhere to park. Hotel's own car park a few minutes walk is recommended. Absolutely no traffic noise. If you get a sea view room all you will hear is the waves on the beach below!
