Checked in on a Saturday and had a beautiful ocean front room with 2 tv's, either one worked. Called customer service and was told they would send someone right away. After numerous calls and stopping at the "privelage" desk we finally got our tv's fixed on the 4th day of our trip. The privelage lounge at breakfast was always crowded and you had to wait for a table and the private beach never had any open space.
The resort is very large and we never got to know where everything was. Buffet and some of the specialty restaurants were good, but there didn't seem to be enough wait staff. Nice place, but would not return.

I went to the Ocean Coral and turquesa for the second time in 4months and already planning to go back .

The hotel is really nice and clean . Rooms are spacious .

I was I. The previlege area which made my trip so much better , it’s worth it to be in the previlege as you get extra services , such as a butler , reservation to the restaurant you want , private beach area , premium alcohol ect...

The restaurants are amazing I’ve done them all. The food at the resort is really extraordinary.
Can’t say I have a favorite resto there .

The beach is nice and clean and of a nice size .

There is many activities at the resort every day make sure to get your daily journal to follow up on them or you may look at the hotel special channel to see them .

The shows are amazing , the dancers performers are really talented

The staff is friendly and makes you feel like home and that your family!!

Looking forward to my next trip at the Ocean coral y turquesa !

I was part of a large group of people who attended a friend's wedding. Overall the outside of the resort was beautiful, but the service we received left something to be desired and the rooms were terrible.

Upon arrival we discovered that our room was damp and smelled of mildew. We also requested a king bed but wound up getting two double beds (one of them creaked loudly with the slightest bit of movement). The beds were rock hard and the pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. If you want to get a good sleep at this resort, take advantage of the all inclusive alcohol so you won't care that the beds are terrible. The bathroom leaves much to be desired for privacy. The toilet was in a small frosted-glass room with a door that didn't close all the way. The handle for the door had grooves in it with a disgusting build-up of brown residue within (ew). The shower spit out whatever temperature water it wanted to (from scalding hot to freezing cold) and you couldn't control it with the faucet handle whatsoever -- expect to go through multiple hot/cold cycles throughout your shower experience. The bathroom itself only had a thin see-through curtain to separate it from the rest of the room. Basically, if you need to go #2 and want some privacy, whoever you're staying with needs to crank the TV so they don't have to listen or they can leave the room. The AC was exceptionally loud and the fridge didn't work either. Your drinks would be colder outside of the fridge than in it.

After the first night we went to the front desk to complain about our beds, the mildew smell in the room, how damp it was in the room, and our non-working fridge. We were promptly told they would take care of it and lo and behold, nothing was done. We complained again the next day and all they did was push the beds together but didn't address the mildew-smelling damp room and broken fridge. They had told us they'd fix our fridge and get us a dehumidifier but that never happened.

I should also mention that when they pushed the beds together we were in the shower. They came into the room without knocking and we told them we were in the bathroom but they just ignored us and went along with their business. It's fairly unsettling to be naked and trapped in a shower with a mind of it's own while someone is in your room without your permission. There were also a couple of other times during our stay we were barged in on by employees who entered the room without knocking.

There was also one day we left a big tip for the maid to see what kind of tidy job she'd do for our room but we were inexplicably left without any towels (she took them all) and our warm fridge didn't get restocked. Money not well spent.

The outer door of the room isn't the least bit soundproof either. We got stuck in a room near their theater and whenever there was a show going on you could hear it clearly inside the room. One night we had the TV on and it was being drowned out by the show going on in the theater. We were also unceremoniously woken up at 3am by a walkie talkie a security guard had on full blast outside of our room.

Simply put, the rooms flat-out sucked and everything I own smelled like mildew by the time I got home. Not impressed.

There was also two tiers of service you could pay for at this resort. If you paid more for the "privilege" package you got perks like an upgraded room, a jacuzzi on your balcony, access to a private beach area, and the ability to make reservations in advance for the several restaurants on the resort. A number of people with our group paid extra for the privilege package but by the end of the week they didn't feel like it was worth the extra cost. Pretty much the only advantage I would have liked would be the priority seating at the restaurants, but since I decided to save some money to be a 2nd class citizen I routinely had to wait until as late as 9pm for a table even though half the tables in the restaurants were empty for the entire time i had to wait (they needed to save them in case privilege people showed up).

We managed to find a few employees at the resort that were a great to deal with. Jose and Manuel in the Route 66 restaurant were awesome. Juan who brought us drinks on the beach was also one of the stand-out employees of the resort, and a security guard by the name of Erick was also a pleasure to deal with.

All in all it was an okay vacation but I won't return to this resort. Nice pools and beaches can be found at pretty much any resort, but the long waits to get into restaurants coupled with the terrible rooms makes not returning a no-brainer.

Think twice before you book Ocean Coral if you need any of your special requests to be met...and beware of scams at the Cancun airport...

It began when my girlfriend and I arrived to our room to find one kingsized bed. We had specifically requested 2 double beds and told our travel agent that we would not choose any resort who wouldn't guarantee this request. When we tried to refuse the room we were told that no other rooms were available that met our requirements that resided in the "priviledged area". We said we didn't care about being in this area, only that we had 2 beds. However, were were told, adamantly, that any availability would be assessed the next day. Unable to sleep, I went walking outside and saw a room with the lights on and curtains open -- it had 2 double beds and was obviously empty and was situated in the same "priviledged area". We immediately (yes, at 4 a.m.) went back to the front desk and were told that the room was reserved for an arriving guest. Even though we had been told that rooms couldn't be reserved in advance. After 2 sleepless nights and countless visits to the front desk, and a day of sitting with our luggage, we were finally given a room with 2 beds and settled in at 5:30 p.m. I missed the massage I booked that day and it felt like we missed 2 days of the vacation. However, we were luckier than some. At one point at the front desk, three middle aged women who had requested 2 double beds and a pull-out were told they would have to make-do with one king-sized bed! Yup...3 women, 1 bed.

Along on this trip were my elderly parents and another elderly couple who both requested ground floor rooms due to difficultly walking and a serious heart conidition. Both ended up on the 3rd floor with no option to move. Our friend with the heart condition ended up in a wheelchair; my mother spent a lot of time in her room since it was difficult for her to get up and down the stairs and the nearest elevator was periodically out of service.

It appears that none of the employees are empowered to provide real customer service, only lip service. Extremely frustrating for someone who really believes that a solution is in the works when in the background, the problem is just being ignored.

Privilege Services?? Not worth it...
We spent the extra (think it was $400) for the premium service that allowed access to the private beach. But unless you went down and laid out your towels by 6:30 am, there would be nowhere to sit. There are only 4 balinese huts and they are gone by 5:30 a.m. (I did get up one morning at this time to lay out some towels and there was 1 left). The private pool was accessible to all guests, so no privilege there. It took forever to be served in the private breakfast area and, in factl I often went up to the coffee bar to order my own coffee and and stood there waiting for it to be made -- but this area was far nicer than the main dining room. The Jacuzzi is the same tub as in the 'non'-privilege rooms except it's outside on the balcony -- they are nicer in the room. Preferential table booking for the themed restaurants? -- well yes this is good and I felt sorrry for other guests who couldn't book in advance but priviledged guests still must book everything early or you'll be eating at 6:00 or 10:00. Guests without this upgrade have to take their chances in line and could end up waiting for hours to get into a popular restaurant -- not so relaxing on vacation. If you really want the privilege service, buy it onsite -- guests in our party arrived without this upgrade and bought it at the resort for less that $200. That is, if you are bound and determined to go to this resort.

The food is ok in the general food area, but it feels like a cafeteria -- completely enclosed. In fact, most of the restaurants do not take advantage of the ocean views. The only one is "priviledged"!

The beach is gorgeous but that's because the loud truck that cleans up the seaweed comes by at least every hour.

Then it came time to leave. At the Cancun airport my luggage was about 5 kg overweight. The ticket agent gave me two choices 1. To pay $20/kg (total $100) or 2. Speak with the Thomas Cook agents to buy a special upgrade package that would allow this additional weight for $40 (plus other apparent benefits).

These agents were situated within the same area as passengers lining up to check luggage and get a boarding pass. The ID badges of these Thomas Cook's/Airport employees appeared official and since it was the ticket agents who directed us to them it seemed legitamite. However, they would only accept cash and when I asked for a receipt and/or some kind of document confirming I'd bought something I became suspicious. When I wouldn't accept a signature on my boarding pass as an official receipt they quickly returned my money and said I was approved. What? Well, my luggage had been sent anyway so the ticket agents weren't waiting for any approvals. This was a total scam that took advantage of many passengers and I'm sure they made thousands that night. Our flight left at 10:45 p.m., outside of regular business hours. I felt sick for the couple I met on this return flight who paid them well over $500 in order to get the family gifts back home.

All in all, I will never travel to Cancun again. There are too many other places that really appreciate your travel business. My winter vacation is already booked and planned...this year, I'm going to St. Lucia.

My husband and I just spent 5 nights at OCT from December 1st through the the 6th. I booked our trip on travelocity for a really good price and upgrded to a privilege room for only a couple hundred $ more for the two of us which I'm really glad I did. I think if we hadn't been privilege guests I would have only rated our stay a 3 ( at best). With the privilege upgrade we had the ability to make dinner reservations as well as acess to the privilege lounge right next to the beach that has a wonderful al a carte breakfast in the morning, a bar with all of the resorts premium liquor, free wifi, and a restaurant called Fusion at night. Also with the privilege we had a private area of the beach with lots of chairs and umbrellas an waiter service, butler services, 2 vouchers for a lobster dinner (or steak) that other guests at the resort would have to pay extra for and a 10% discount at the spa and hotel shop. Our pros about OCT are: the privilege lounge, breakfast there was usually our favorite meal of the day and being able to use the Internet and grab a consistent well made drink so close to our room was great, and sitting so close to the beach while enjoying a meal or drink was really relaxing too. Our favorite diner at the resort was at fusion our 2nd night and our waiter Jorge was great, very personable and attentive and ordered us the best margaritas we had all week :) The private beach area was also a definite plus, we were always able to get a chair and a waiter promptly came over with an ice bucket with cold bottled water and took a drink order, Enrique at the privlege beach was
always very friendly and quick. Also I should mention our room here, we were in building 6 with a gorgeous ocean view from our balcony with a jacuzzi and shower. One night before dinner we called the butler service to fill the hot tub and returned to not only a filled hot tub but bubbles and rose petals as well it was very romantic and the butler ( I wish I could remember his name) was our favorite staff member from our stay. Our cons from our stay are as follows: the food, most of our meals at the resort were awful, especially the Mexican restaurant which I thought would be the best and sadly our last night we were excited for dinner at fusion but was by far our worst meal and the drinks were inconsistent at every bar except the privilege loung, when we asked for up scale margaritas they were awful even though we were privilege guests. upon checking in we were handed off to a woman named Sophie who we were told would give us some more info about the resort. We sat down with her in the lobby where she went over the resort map with us and gave us a resort voucher for $100 us dollars and invited us to a "welcome breakfast" where she said we would be showed the nicer areas of the resort and given the good liquor. While I had a felling this had something to do with a time share sales pitch she never disclosed that nor did she say we were going to be treated like absolute $#*t when we sid no at this "welcome breakfast". So we showed up to Sophies office ( next to the main desk with the glass doors saying H10 premium I think) where she handed us off to Rosie who seemed like a decent person until we said no. We went with Rosie to the buffet, even though we could have had a much nicer breakfast at the privilege lounge but she's not allowed there?! At breakfast she started asking questions about our travel plans and I promptly told her we were not under any circumstances interested in a time share. Her response was " good, I won't try to sell you a time share then" she then proceeded to tell us that even though we weren't interested her job was to explain it to us that way we would understand and could tell other people. We knew at this point that the $100 resort credit was dependent on attending this so we were fine with giving her some our vacation time in order to use that money for a couples massage at the spa. After breakfast we went up to her office ( where she informs us she can drink I we do, real professional) which reminded me of a car dealership office expecting some pamphlets to be shown or something. No she gets out lined paper and a sharpie and starts drawing theses ridiculous charts explaining the " vacation plan" she wanted to sell us.... For $40k!!!! We let her go through her routine clearly letting her know we were still not interested but she kept saying "I know your not going to buy this but this is my job and I want to make sure you understand" after about an hour with her her boss came over to give us more info so I politely told her we had all the info we needed but just weren't interested to which Rosie started glaring at me at me and when her boss left said " wow, thanks for making me look so good in front of my boss" right... So we said thanks for all the info but this inst for us to which she responded with by telling us that that made no sense etc etc all the while giving me the dirtiest looks and making snide immature comments. Finally she accused us of wasting her time, firstly if you have to deceive people into attending a "welcome breakfast" with you I'm sure you have plenty of free time. Secondly I told her almost immediately upon meeting her that we were under no circumstances interested in a time share situation. And lastly we are on vacation, our time was being wasted with her pathetic excuse at a sales pitch. I would not buy a life vest from Rosie if I were drowning, never mind spending $40k in a sketchy sales pitch. But thanks for the $ towards the couples massage, we really needed it after her pathetic attempt at selling us a time share :) Our review would be less stars but technically Rosie and Sophie work for H10 (OCT parent company) and if we had known to avoid the "welcome breakfast" we would have been lucky enough to have never met them and enjoyed more of our vacation. I STRONGLY recommend avoiding them at all cost. Over the remainder of our vacation we met other people traumatized from meeting rosie also, one couple in particular had the bad luck of spending over 4 hours with her and her bad attitude ( and sales skills).Overall a beautiful resort but now that we have been to the Cancun area if we ever returned we would stay closer to Playa del Carmen which has much more to do and closer to the Mayan ruins.

No because they check the color wrist band and will throw him out. The resort staff is rude and the beach is over run with seaweed. I would not recommend it to anyone

What are the benefits of privilege? Is there a private beach/pool area? Thanks

There is a privileged beach area with a beach concierge, but no privileged pool area. My favorite part about paying for the privileged upgrade is the al a carte breakfast in the privilege lounge. While there, we make our dinner reservations for that night, so that we do not have to wait in line when we arrive at the restaurants.

Privilege is completely worth it! If you are looking for relaxation and quiet, that is how you get it. There is loud music and it is overcrowded in all the other sections. Tons of extra beach lounges and cabanas in Privilege -- never had a problem getting a place to sit/layout.
