Leipzig, Germany is a city of more than 500,000 people located in eastern Germany . It is sometimes called Little Paris due to its involvement in the classical literary movement in the 1700s.

High speed trains connect Leipzig to other major German cities; from some of the larger cities, trains leave to international destinations.

Leipzig has some great historical buildings for visitors to enjoy including the Old Town Hall. Auerbach’s Keller is an almost 500 year old pub that has run continuously since opening.

The Christmas Market, Botanical Garden and Zoo are also fun stops for visitors, especially those with children. The Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum at the Round Corner and the Nature Museum are among the cities more popular museums and galleries.

There are two airports serving Leipzig.

Leipzig/Halle Airport (airport code LEJ) is the larger of the two, serving more than 30 airlines flying regularly scheduled routes and seven additional airlines flying a few irregular flights a year. Lufthansa, BMI, TAP Portugal, Deutsche Bahn AG and Air Canada fly the most frequently from Leipzig/Halle Airport. Condor and Air Berlin fly to the greatest variety of destinations. The airport is sometimes referred to as Schkeuditz Airport.

Leipzig is Leipzig-Altenburg Airport is the smaller of the two. Ryanair is the only carrier with regularly scheduled flights out of this airport; although between 10,000 and 15,000 flights typically arrive and depart for the airport in a year.
