A famous building of the district is the Vertical Forest, where the innovative materials and trees planted on the terraces are a unique mix of nature and man-made construction. In the district, there is the Monumental Cemetery, known for its antique tombs with sculptures portraying angels of commemorative scenes many will find touching.

Pirellone , ( big Pirelli ) this is the name the milanese people gave it right away, given that it was the largest and tallest skyscraper in Italy in 1960, when they finished it.
Until 1966 it also held the record for the tallest skyscraper in the European Union.
Beautiful example of Italian rationalism.

When it was built in 1960, the skyscraper was one of the tallest buildings in Europe. Its shape is interesting because it is very thin. It now has regional government offices.

This skyscraper is emblematic of Milan's post-war economic boom.
It was built between 1955 and 1960 as the headquarters of Pirelli Industries.
With its heght of 127 metres, it was at that time one of Europe's talles reinforced concrete buildings, displaying a balance between form and structure that has yet to be surpassed.
Many people love it many oters hate it, if you love architecture like me , you will definetly love it.

Nothing so special with this tower in my opinion. It is said that it is like a symbol of Milan industrial history.

This Pirelli tower used to be the tallest building in Milan some decades ago. It was the symbol of industrial power in Milan. Without this history nobody would talk about the building. Yes, you can see and it is good to make a note of it and then continue.

You can see the Pirelli tower from the Milano Central Train Station it is not far away and it is very unimpressive. I would not go out of my way for a visit

This was the first skyscraper of Milan, but nowdays it doesn't look like much compared to new and bigger ones.
Still, because of the history and representation of might and industrial power of Milan and Lombardy, it's important.

The skyline of Grattacielo Pirelli was a symbol of industry in Milan. Very thin looks like a "sole fish" standing in the sky of Milan. Is located at the right of the train station square and was for a period the headquarters of Lombardia region. After September 11 was hit by a small aircraft that lost the control of the pilot giving the impression of another attack. But further investigation excluded this event and confirmed only the bad luck of the pilot.

Although it's the very first built skyscraper in Italy, today it will probably not blow up your mind. Just have a look on it if you're near Milano Centrale train station.

If you arrive to Milano by train you'll see it,for sure,as long it's placed not far to Milano Centrale train station.It will catch your eyes for a couple of minutes,but nothing more.It's not a out of common building.

IL grattacielo Pirelli non è normalmente aperto al pubblico, bisogna aprofittare delle giornate Fai.

Volevo sapere gentilmente se durante il sabato è possibile fare il tour completo del grattacielo e salire in cima fino al Belvedere!!! Grazie della risposta in anticipo

A completezza dell'informaqzione, suggerisco di verficare se in estate l'apertura domenicale è ativa (mi risulta per una prte d'estate, ma meglio verificare). Qui non si possono dare indirizzi di siti, ma basta digitare PIRELLONE o GRATTACIELO PIRELLI e si trovano le date-
