I really loved our Cordoba tour guide Antonio
I had the most wonderful time going on a tour our tour guide Antonio. As someone who loves to understand more about the cities I visit but in a way that is interactive and fun, Antonio ticked all of the boxes. He knew so much about the history of Cordoba and he shared all of his knowledge in a light-hearted and easy-to-understand way. I really enjoyed every second of our tour and the time flew by so quickly. Thank you Antonio for everything! :)

      Excellent outing
We so very much enjoyed being taken round the Mezquita by Jose from foot on the ground tours. As a local archaeologist and historian, Jose’s knowledge was second to none, and he went the extra mile to ensure we had an unforgettable tour round this amazing building. He seemed to have an interesting fact about every inch of the space, and we highly recommend taking a tour with him. A very nice man as well

      Excellent! TOP!
We booked a guided tour of the mezquita (22 euro pp). José Carretero was our guide. I have no Words to tell How good he was: inspiring, enthusiastic, intelligent, smart...what a wisdom! I can only say: it was fantastic: 10++++++

Walking tour with a passionate archaeologist
We took a private walking tour of Cordoba with Jose. Jose's passion for his work is evident in his twinkling eyes, excited and broad smiles. As a seasoned and consequently rather hard to please traveller, I enjoyed every moment of the walk! We started off at our hotel where there was an onsite Roman Domus which Jose seek the permission from the hotel management so that we could visit. Then we went to the Templo Romano, where Jose help us visualised a Roman Circus , a connecting platform and the Roman Temple dedicated to the emperor. A majestic show of imperial power. Then there was Plaza Seneca, the archaeological museum with the ruins of the largest Roman theatre after the Coliseum(though only the foundation stones are left after centuries of pliage), a well preserved Roman bath in a Tablao ...... I love how Jose would point out amazing things in overlooked corners and makes me appreciate how history is alive and all around us. I think every visitor to Cordoba should go on a tour with Jose. Really :)

      Learned a lot
We did a 3.5 hr private walking tour with Ignacio and he really knows a lot. We started with the romans and walked our way to the end of the middle ages. The highlight of course is the church-mesquita, where you get a much better grasp than being alone or on a large group.

      Perfect Tour Guide in Cordoba
Fortunately, I found Jose, a trained and well experienced archeologist, to give a group of us a tour of Cordoba. He is articulate, engaging, fun, passionate, dogged in his desire to please and exceed our expectations. Yes, he maximized the sights we saw. What he did that separated Jose from any tour guide that I have met: He verbally gave us the stories behind the sites from the players, the time period, what happened of significance. You could visualize history re-appearing before you especially when we toured the archeological ruins of Madinat al-Zahra outside the city. WOW! His fee is quite reasonable. Would I tour with Jose again? Yes of course! Would I recommend Jose to others? Yes of course! Thank you Jose! Again, WOW!

      Fantastic tour
This was my second time in cordoba. The first time I walked around the patios and city walls, went into the mezquita and the gardens and walked across the bridge and thought I had seen it all. But in fact I had only just touched the surface. Jose's tour brought a completely different perspective to the city that we would not have experienced otherwise. Through his expert knowledge and storytelling skills he was able to take us back to the times of the Romans, Abd al-Rahman's rule when cordoba was the capital of andalucia and one of the most important cities of the world and the gradual decline under the castillians. Jose is also like a walking encyclopedia of local and spanish history and can answer anything you throw at him. Don't hesitate to book him!

Great experience, valuable explanations, overall information from amazing details
We had a guided tour to Cordoba Patios. Our guide, José, did a great job of showing us the details of patios, while using them as a starting point to pinpoint Cordoba's heritage at multiple levels: preroman, roman, visigoth (almost null), muslim, christian, contemporary... He is an archaeologist and thrives through his explanations, thus converting a tour into a valuable, exquisite and wonderful experience. Fully reccommended!

Invite an Archaeologist to show you around!
What better way to visit an archaeological excavation than with a professional archaeologist? My husband and I had a wonderful time discovering Medina Azahara with Jose, Foot on the Ground Tours. Jose offers private tours at a very reasonable price. We easily arranged everything directly with him via the contact info on his website. The entire experience was excellent and relying on his experience made the transportation logistics go very smoothly for us. Jose met us at our hotel, and we all rode out to the site together in a taxi. That allowed some time for Jose to explain the significant historical role of Medina Azahara in 10th century Cordoba and Al-Andalus. Once we got to the site, Jose guided us everywhere, sharing his knowledge and insightful expertise. We would have overlooked a lot had we just wandered around on our own, seeing but not understanding. Jose is passionate about his profession of archaeology, and he’s passionate about Cordoba. He brought Medina Azahara and 10th century Cordoba to life for us. We could not be more pleased or delighted with the cultural exchange we enjoyed with him that day. Had we stayed in Cordoba longer, we would have gone back into Mezquita with him, too! Perhaps we will just have to return.

The best ever guided tour from a traveler that doesn't 'do' tours!
Where to start? It was interesting, informative and inspiring! Jose bought the history of the Medina Azahara and Cordoba to life, I could almost see, hear and smell the individuals who built it, and those that came after to destroy it. Jose's passion for his subject is awesome. The tour was structured to ensure we didn't miss anything, but relaxed enough to absorb the surroundings. Questions were welcomed and the discussions were rich with information. Absolutely recommend 'Foot on the Ground' and Jose. Just do it!

One of best tours I've ever had!
Mr. Jose Carretero Seone took us on a 3-hour tour of Cordoba, Spain, from the Roman bridge to the Archaeological Museum and other highlights of the core city (just the outside of the mosque -- that was a different tour). My friend and I were incredibly impressed by his vast knowledge, his ability to answer all our questions, his friendliness and his obvious love of the city. It was a magical tour of a magical city. He opened up the wealth of Cordoba's history and present like no one else.

      Informative and Interesting
This was a fantastic tour. It felt very personal, and the guides took the time to answer my numerous questions. This is one of the best tours I have ever been on, because I was able to see places I didn't know existed, and that no other tour has access to. I also found the guide informative, not boring nor scripted. I highly recommend this tour.

My husband and myself went on a private tour of medina azahara a couple of weeks ago. We had such a wonderful experience with our tour guide Lola. I felt very comfortable with her from the beginning. Her knowledge of this archeological site was superb! Not only was she passionate about this part of history but she went over and above making sure we had the best experience in Cordoba! What a memorable tour! We will never forget our time with Lola!

Carmen is an exceptional guide. Very careful and kind, very didactic and attentive to the facts. It made the place and its history even more interesting. Despite being Brazilian and speaking Portuguese, I took the tour in Spanish and had no difficulties.

A SPECTACULAR VISIT, HE IS A GREAT KNOWLEDGE OF THE HISTORY, NOT ONLY OF MEDINA AZAHARA, BUT ALSO OF AL-ANDALUS IN GENERAL. WE LOVED HIS EXPLANATION, AND THE LOVE WITH WHICH HE TREAT US. I WENT WITH MY MOTHER, AND SHE ALSO LEFT DELIGHTED. SO I GIVE IT NOT A 10, BUT AN 11!!!!

The guided tour of Medina Azahara is very worthwhile. Delighted with our guide Antonio! He has explained to us not only the Medina, but also much of the Andalusian culture in a pleasant and entertaining way, there was no question for which he did not have an answer and he has fascinated us. Don't hesitate to take the tour, the experience would not have been the same without Antonio.
