When we invest in the process of self-inquiry we expand our capacity for living an authentic life. Having a supportive and nonjudgmental environment in which to do this can make all the difference. Holding space for my client's exploration is a privilege, therefore, the therapeutic relationship is based on respect, presence, and at times, the challenge of finding answers to difficult questions.

Relationship 101 is captured beautifully by Esther Perel: "The quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives." If you long to learn how to nourish, strengthen, and/or repair your relationships therapy can facilitate clearer and compassionate communication between you and your loved ones. I'm sex-positive and believe that a relationship is like an intimate dance in which mutual partnership depends on healthy communication, curiosity and vulnerability. If you feel stuck in your relationship, are dating, or taking some much needed time off, therapy can play a supportive role in deepening connection to self and other.

I have always been fascinated by what it means to be human: the choices we make, the stories we live with, and the beliefs, values and morals we choose to live by. Evaluating or becoming reacquainted with these parts of our human experience are all reasons that we find ourselves in need of a listening ear. I believe that past trauma, depression, anxiety, relational difficulties, loss, chronic pain, and spiritual disconnection all conceal our innermost capabilities for living a healthy, happy, whole life. I am passionate about helping people create strong and meaningful relationships with those they love. No relationship is too bad.

Perhaps you are a serious golfer with a bloated handicap, a parent who wants every advantage for their child or someone that is stuck in a bad relationship.
CLINICAL, SPORT & PERFORMANCE PSYCHOLOGY:
Mental Game Coach certified by the
International Golf Psychology Association.
My practice includes working with athletes, performers, and the like-minded. That "thing" of yours (pre-performance anxiety, choking, feeling like a fraud, self-sabotage, etc.) has created enough problems. Enough already. What would you be doing if that "thing" was not in your way? Imagine making that putt, rocking that assignment, nailing that performance, or enjoying the one you are with.

Psychology of the True Self, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Existential and Transpersonal Therapy, IMAGO Relationship Counseling, compassionate, non-judgmental and client-centered approach.
The essence of my counseling approach is that I know each person to be whole and unique regardless of what is currently being experienced. I help clients focus on areas of difficulty with kind acceptance. Knots of anxiety, depression and unhappiness unravel and resolve into greater peace. One begins to know oneself as bigger than the problem. I teach cognitive behavioral skills of mindfulness, centering and focusing to allow a greater repertoire of responses to habitual problem areas. I provide a safe place to explore one's deeper self and resolve issues that block happiness and the realization of potential.

Sometimes our lives become so complicated and stressful that we all need an outside, non-judgmental person to help guide us back to our inner source and wisdom. My therapeutic strengths lie in my ability to create a safe and non-judgmental relationship with my clients to help them quickly identify their strengths and utilize them to problem solve and feel better. I approach all my clients with kindness and compassion, understanding that many are entering counseling for the first time or are searching for relief from stress, depression, anxiety, loss, trauma, chronic pain or illness, or many of life's difficult transitions.

I believe that one of the key components to successful therapy is for the client and therapist to have a trusting, respectful, and collaborative working relationship.
Thoughts are very powerful things. Sometimes we get stuck in negative, self-defeating thought spirals. We might think we're not good enough or that we're somehow undeserving of love, respect, and success. Often these thoughts are so automatic that we simply accept them as true. My goal as a therapist is to help people examine and question their negative self-beliefs. With a more accurate and balanced understanding of our talents, strengths, and value, our lives become fuller as we open up to new possibilities. I'd like to help you on your journey.

Caring. Understanding. Empathic. Encouraging. These are all qualities you will experience while working with me as we navigate your path towards self-exploration. Research shows that the relationship between the therapist and the client is a significant contributing factor in the success of therapy. This is why I make every effort to put my clients at ease starting from the moment you walk in the door at your first session. I want to create a collaborative relationship with you so that, together, we can take steps to improve the quality of your relationships, your family, your life.

My clinical interests include: grief and loss, relationship issues, perinatal and postpartum depression and anxiety, as well as fertility concerns.
In my experience, withholding, avoiding, or denying deep emotion is often the culprit behind suffering. My integrative therapeutic approach creates a safe environment for you to express those deep emotions. Employing curiosity and respect, I'll use stirring, intentional questions to dislodge buried sentiments. In doing so, you're free to uncover a sense of connection and stability in life. The primary goal of therapy is to enliven and enhance your emotional experiences and relationships through actionable insights. During this process, I pay close attention to what you say about yourself as guiding points for potential growth.

My work is with adults 18 and older with specialties such as relationship issues, couples therapy, trauma, medical challenges, addictions and aging.
Seeking help to deal with issues in your life takes lots of courage. I respect that greatly. Often the first step of committing to counseling is the biggest hurdle. Whether it's relationship problems, coping with loss or transitions, anxiety, depression, self esteem concerns, there are times when professional assistance can really help. Sometimes counseling goals are accomplished quickly and other times there is a need for longer term and deeper work. I have the training and expertise to do both.

While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
